[Chase] Today we're headed
to meet Dave and Maria Emmith

and Dave's sister Diane.

[Ashley]
Ryan, are you in the bathroom?

I've never seen two bathrooms
right beside each other in my life.

It's zero bedroom, two bath.

[Ryan] Little leaky.

We have a huge rainstorm
coming in

and we still don't have
a roof on this place.

It's all hands on deck to
get this thing covered in

before we put the roof on.

Look at that! [laughs]

[Dave] Holy smokes!

- [gasps]
- Whoa!

[narrator] In a place called
vacation-land...

Time to get to work.

...there are thousands of cabins that
have been unchanged for decades...

Everything must go.

...all over the great state
of Maine.

[all groan in disgust]

Chase Morrill and his family
of Mainers renovate, restore

and save these
historic structures.

Are we in the right place?

[Chase] I'm Chase,
and I lead the team.

Ashley's my sister,
she's also the designer.

Ryan's my brother-in-law,
he's my voice of reason.

Dixie and Jedi can handle any
job we throw at them.

[Chase] Nice!

[excited overlapping chatter]

[Chase] Our crew is
the best at what we do.

[Ashley] Nice job on this one.

We're all best friends
and we love it.

- [Ashley groans] - [Ryan]
You have to pedal when I do?

[Ashley] I don't know.

- [Ashley] Oh, Ryan, Ryan...
- [Ryan] Street mud.

[in a cautionary tone]
Ryan, Ryan...

[Chase laughing]

- [Ashley] Okay, okay.
- [Ryan] Winter is coming, we gotta get there.

[Chase] Today we're headed
to meet Dave and Maria Emmith

and Dave's sister Diane.

[Ashley] Are they big bikers
or something?

- [Chase] Uh, they're big motorcyclists.
- [Ashley] Oh.

Why didn't you get
us a motorcycle?

Insurance.

Do you have your license?

- I had my permit twice.
- Neither of you have your license.

[Ryan] So is it on a tarred
road? Is this place fancy?

I feel like it's fancy.

[Chase]
It's on Annabessacook Lake.

[Ryan] Yeah?

[Chase] And Dave's grandparents
used to have a camp on Annabessacook

back in the '50s,

but they sold it when he
was little.

[Ashley] All right. Don't wave!

So, he bought property back
on the lake?

[Chase] Bought property back on
the lake and then had a camp built.

[Ryan] What year was it built?

[Chase] Oh... Five years ago?

[Ryan] Oh, is it five years old?

- [Chase] I don't know exactly.
- [Ashley] That's it? What're we doing here?

[Chase] You'll see, it doesn't
suit their needs.

[Ryan] I'll ride a bike like
this any day for new build.

- Here we go.
- [Ashley] You love new builds.

Here it is! Is this it, Chase?

Yeah, I'm giving you guys
a wide berth.

[Ryan] Whoa!

- We got it, we got it!
- [Ashley] Press the brakes!

- [Ryan] We got it!
- [Ashley] Put on the brakes!

You're pedaling too fast for me.

[Ryan groaning]
Oh, hill. Pedal, pedal!

- [overlapping chatter]
- [Chase] Slow down!

[excited cheering and laughter]

[all cheering and laughing]

How we doing?

- Whoo!

- [Dave] All right! Way to go!
- [Maria] That was fantastic!

- Hi I'm David Emmith.
- I'm his wife Maria Emmith.

And I'm the little sister,
Diane Maguire.

[Dave]
Look at her in all her glory.

[Ashley] Chase was
telling us all about it.

And it does really seem
like you need us.

[Dave] Well, you know, it's
great for, like, a week or two,

and then after that... I
mean, we just retired this year.

So, we need to kind of
expand a little bit.

[Maria] Nobody else
fits in there.

Tell us about it.

[Dave] There is a little kitchen
area and it's like really little.

And there's no stove in it.

So, we would like to have

at least a little bit
of a kitchen area...

- [Maria] We wanna live here.
- [Dave] ...little stove.

Oh, you wanna live here?

- [Dave] We don't always wanna be cooking outside.
- Yeah.

It already has two bathrooms,
but...

[Ashley] Two bathrooms?

- Oh, yeah. If you have girls in your family, right?
- [Ryan] Who designed it?

No, no!

- No, it was his...
- That was my idea.

- Who has two bathrooms in a cabin?
- [Ashley] I know, right?

People will say, "What,
were you crazy?" I said no!

If there's women in your family,
you gotta have two bathrooms.

-[Ryan] If you're
forward-thinking. Yeah -Try to be.

It's not done. I mean,

we wanna take
one of those bathrooms

and maybe convert it into, like,
a small bedroom or something.

Because we'll have a bathroom

with the master bedroom
on the addition?

[Chase] Ten foot,
12 foot addition out?

- We're going 12 feet. That's right.
- [Chase] Twelve?

By 24.

So we're adding 50%
'cause this is a 24 by 24.

And you have the permits
and everything already?

Building permit's up
on the window.

- [Ashley] Well there we go.
- Have at it.

[Ashley] I know why we're here.

[all laugh]

And as you can see, I've had
a little bit of tree work done.

[Ryan] I see you left that
there for something.

[Maria] Our friend Danny Barnes.

[Dave] Hey, if Dan can carve
an eagle out of that,

that would be like
the coolest thing ever.

The last thing would be
a new dock.

The one that we have right now,

it's old, it's rickety.

So, how much are you looking
to put into this project?

[Dave] We're looking at 55.

And it would be nice if we
could get it back in eight weeks.

Hmm.

Okay, I know, maybe that's...

Maybe that's a bridge too far.

- If it doesn't happen...
- We'll try our best.

- We better go get started now.
- [all laugh]

You got some keys?

Yes, I've got some keys.

[Ashley] Let's do it.

[Dave] All right.
There's some keys for you!

- [Ryan] Thank you.
- [Dave] All right!

[Dave] We are very excited that
the Cabin Masters are here because

the work that they do
is phenomenal.

[Ashley] I like the colors,
you guys.

[Ryan] I like the colors too.

[Ashley] You know,
with camps like this,

when the paint job
is fairly new,

and I really like the color,

I don't really see a point
in changing it

if it doesn't really need it.

If it's getting a new roof,
that will change the look a lot.

It'll also have an addition.

So, there's gonna be a 12-foot
addition off this side.

We can pull this deck
right off, reuse it.

The master bedroom is gonna be
towards the front this time.

- [Ryan] Yeah.
- You know, just because

that's really what you wanna
be looking at.

There's gonna be a master bath,

so there is no sense having
a good view in your bathroom.

[Ashley] And where are you
gonna enter now?

You'll enter probably on
the back end of it.

So, just a deck with no stairs?

- Well, it might end up having to have stairs.
- Okay.

So, this will be pulled off.
We'll do new posts.

Reframe that all out.

And this will be closed in.

This will be closed in, it won't
be a screened-in porch anymore?

[Chase] No, the screened-in
porch won't go all the way.

- It'll stop here.
- [Ashley] This'll be the bedroom?

Yes.

[Ryan] "On this site in

[laughs] I love it.
It looks all official.

I really said to myself
that is my dream camp.

It's off the ground,
the back's high,

it has overhangs.

It's like, unbelievable.

You always jinx us.

- Until you go inside.

[Ashley]
These cabinets are hideous.

- Sorry, Dave.
- [Ryan] Wanna play "Simon Says"?

[in high pitch] Do-do-do-do...

[Ashley] I mean, the floors
are nice, the walls are nice.

- [Chase] The floors are just...
- [Ryan] Floors.

[Chase] Yep, these can come up
real quick and easy.

But, bathroom, bathroom
right now.

Let's check out...
Oh, this is the bathroom?

- This is so strange!
- Wait a minute.

- [Ashley] For real, bathroom-bathroom?
- [Chase] Yeah.

[Ryan] There's no way it's a...

[Ashley] This is the weirdest.

Ryan?

Are you in the bathroom?

[Ryan] Wanna poop together?

- Are you serious...

This isn't even real.

I've never seen two bathrooms

and everything.

[Chase] Yeah.

[Ryan] There's not even
a bedroom!

[Chase] [chuckling] I know.

Wait. [chuckles]
There's isn't a bedroom?

- It's just two bathrooms.
- [Ryan] How're we gonna sleep tonight?

[Ashley] It's zero bedroom,
two bath?

You never hear that.

Well, we definitely need to get
them a master bedroom, then.

Are we insulating it?

- [Chase] Yeah, we might as well insulate the ceiling.
- Yeah.

[Chase] Close it in. Pine it in.

Catwalk across. That
will be the loft over there.

You'll have a new entrance
on the back.

Take that bathroom out,

and maybe bump the wall out

for the master bathroom.

Form does not follow function
on this one.

- I just want...
- But we'll make that right.

[Chase]
On the exterior of the camp,

we are putting in
a new metal roof,

new skylights to let
more lights into the camp,

a 12-foot wide addition
moving the porch.

On the inside of the camp we
are putting in a master bedroom,

bring the new addition,

moving one of the bathrooms
to master bedroom,

loft above that space,

connecting the two lofts
with a catwalk,

new kitchen,

and rearranging the bathroom to
get more space for the washer-dryer.

It's a very European design.

Let's get it more
like, Americanized.

You think this is European?

Yeah, 'cause "you're a peeing"
in two rooms.

I've really seen enough.

Come on. Call the guys.

- [Ryan] Weird, weird.
- [Ashley] We'll be back, weird camp.

[Chase] They're not gonna know
what to think either.

[Ryan] Doug is gonna have to
work double-time on this one.

What are we doing to this place?

- Looks brand new, doesn't it?
- Yeah, it looks brand new.

[Chase] Today we
are at the Emmith camp

on Annabessacook Lake.

We are here just to do kind of
some exploratory demo.

Pull out what we need to,

get rid of one of the bathrooms,

and come up with a plan
for the new addition.

Come on, dogs.

Figure out where we're gonna
put the porta-potty.

Wow, they've jammed
a lot in here!

A lot of these times,
when the homeowners

are building these places
on their own,

not in a bad way,
but the foresight isn't there.

They just don't see
what they actually need

and what they're doing
while they're doing it.

They get the idea in their head

and they just go for it.

- Get it up, get a roof on it.
- Yeah.

[Jedi] We can change
it around, no problem.

[Dixie] Ew!
There's a frog in there!

That's a frog!

Oh, he's going down the drain!

I've never seen that before.

We're here to get rid of
the second bathroom,

and just kinda tear into it
a little bit,

so we can prep for the addition.

[Ryan] Watch out, Jedi.

That's toilet water.

I walked all the way to the
door to pour the toilet water out

and it came right back in
the house.

Here she comes.

[Ashley] Jedi, Dixie and
I took the kitchen apart,

got rid of those ugly cabinets.

Set it right here.

[Ashley] We're gonna put
new cabinets in.

That will just change
the space right there,

just 'cause you're not gonna
have the red, yellow and blue.

All the cabinets will be
the same color.

That one's drained.

That wasn't really a demo,

Cut a bunch of the supply
lines out, the drains out,

and just pull stuff out.

I did get a lot of toilet
water on me and on the floor.

- But, other than that...
- Gross, have I just touched your hand?

That's dried up by now,
it's fine.

Hey, Ryan, just keep your
eyes out for my little frog buddy.

[Ryan] All right, I'll keep my
eyes out for your little frog buddy.

The second bathroom was
bothering the heck out of me,

and it took me about 20
minutes to demo it. It's perfect.

It's an awful short shower.

You didn't really demo it,
you kinda took it apart.

Yeah, it's not even demo.
It's like, take it apart.

[indistinct]

They can reuse some of the stuff

in the new master bedroom.

Not the shower.

I'm laying on the
extra shower curtain,

'cause I'm in toilet bowl water.

See? It did pay to have
two bathrooms.

[Ashley] Throw the sheathing
off the stairs.

Where did you want
your next opening?

[Chase] I said just like,
from there...

- [Dixie] From the corner?
- Like four feet.

[Dixie] So, a strip from
the corner out?

- Yeah.
- [Dixie] Okay.

[Chase] I think that'll be good.

[Chase] Maybe to that outlet?

Yep, perfect.

[Jedi] Right now, just taken
these panels off, 'cause...

this is gonna be our
entrance to the new addition.

We just kinda wanna get it open,

see what was behind here.

Now we know it's just traditional
framing, a little bit of insulation.

Little bit of electrical,

and we'll have our opening
into the new addition.

It's really nice that the camp
is so new.

Everything is still
straight and level.

It's built well.

There isn't a lot of demo,

so, it's more a matter of
just kind of getting out

what we can to make more space
to move around and work.

Easy demo.

Down to one bathroom.

- We're moving in the right direction.
- [Ryan laughing]

Next step is, pull of the deck,

start framing up the addition.

I mean, we've got... Most
the materials, we can reuse.

Windows, as needed.

And then some skylights.

Give back the home
and get out of here.

[Ashley] That was a nice day.

[Chase] Location
of this camp is great.

You know, it's on beautiful
Annabessacook Lake.

But it's close to Winthrop,

which helps out as far as
getting subs in here

to take a look at the camp.

Jeff from Northern Dock
stopped by.

- Good morning, Jeff!
- Hey!

- Good morning, Chase. How you doing?
- Good.

- Good to see you.
- Good to see you!

It's starting to get colder,
so we'll get a dock done

sooner rather than later.

Dave's looking for a dock system

that's a little bit bigger.

He just wants something
a little more secure,

little newer...

- [Jeff] Yep.
- [Chase] ...to anchor some boats to.

[Jeff] Yeah. Looks like this
could definitely use some stability.

[Chase laughs]

[Jeff] We can definitely take
care of that and get them set up.

- Okay!
- No problem at all.

- Fantastic.
- All right. Thank you!

[Chase] This week, the guys
are working on framing up

the new addition on
the Emmith camp.

It's a 12x24 addition

that will give them
a new main bedroom,

a new main bathroom,

and an additional loft
for more sleeping space.

We're headed into fall,
and it's starting to get cold,

so we need to get this
closed in as fast as we can.

So, we are setting a ridge beam
and rafters on the new addition

in order to get started
on the roof.

[drilling]

The next part about this
new addition is

it follows the same roof flank,

so you won't be able to tell
what's new and what's original.

- [Jedi] Holy smokes!
- [Ryan] It's looking good.

- It does!
- That's a big addition.

What's the plan today?
It's just three of us.

Yeah, small crew but
we should be able

to open up in between
to the addition

into the main living space.

- For more bathrooms. [laughs]
- For extra bathrooms.

For more bathrooms.

[Ryan] I think we gotta put
a beam in here.

- And cut this whole section right out, yeah?
- [Jedi] All the way over.

[drilling]

[groans] There you go, buddy!

[Jedi] You got it?

We were trying to open up
the wall between

the old camp
and the new addition,

and it was really stuck.

[grunting] Wow, those nails
are holding up pretty good, huh?

[Jedi]
It goes under the floorboards.

Okay.

I thought that was gonna be
a real easy job,

but it's turned out to be
a lot harder than I expected.

Pinched in by the floor
I think, isn't it?

[Chase] So, it is construction
day at the Emmith camp.

We are busting through
into the new addition.

We got the...

second bathroom cleared out,

That's gonna be a small bedroom.

On the porch here, we're gonna
close in the ceiling,

put down a new floor,

put in some winterizing covers
for the windows.

And this is the new addition.

This'll be the main bedroom
on the front,

overlooking the water.

This will be closed in.

New entrance to the bedroom
will be right here.

There'll be a master bathroom.

Window there.

And this will all be loft space.

And connected into
the main living space.

[Ryan] We're trying to open up
the wall between the new addition

and the existing building.

But unfortunately, when they
put on the rim joists

it sandwiched
the old sheathing on.

So it's a pain in the butt
to cut that out.

I ended up having to saw all
along the bottom of that wall.

I had to leave a chunk in there.

But you'll never see it.

[Chase] We needed to open up
in between

the addition into
the main living area.

So, we used some material
that was on site

to build a nice header.

These... 2x10s.
I got two of them.

[Chase] We're gonna have
a catwalk from

that loft space over
to this loft space.

We don't really want any posts
in the center here.

We were trying to
figure things out,

trying to get a game plan
for our catwalk.

And Ryan, just out of nowhere,
said,

"Let's touch base with
Tom from Mainely Handrails."

We have a new camp
with two lofts

on opposite sides
of the building.

We're trying to figure out
how to get a catwalk across.

[Tom on phone] Yeah?

[Ryan] We were thinking maybe
something of aluminum

that hangs from the ceiling
or something.

[Ryan] Awesome! Thank you!

One thing we've learned
as we've gotten older is

if you could find someone else
to do it,

and do it better,
just call them.

What is the point of this deck?

Two bathrooms
and a useless deck.

Hi, honey. What you doing?

[Ashley] Come here to check
on the progress. See what's up.

Where's everybody?

[Ryan] Oh, Dixie's hunting.
The other guys are on other jobs.

For the life of us we
couldn't figure out

why that deck was here, so...

solution to the problem,

Ronnie's crew took a window
that we're not using over there,

put it in here.

We'll take some old siding.

Patch this in, it'll look good.

Jedi and I will be the only
ones that knew this was here.

[Ashley] I know.

And Ashley.

And everybody watching.

[softly] And everybody watching.

So, before we started
this project,

Dave had trees cut down.

And they left behind
this large tree,

with a huge, huge stump.

So, I thought,

who better to call than
my friend Dan.

- Hey guys!
- [Ashley] How's it going?

Good, how are you?

It's been a while.

[Dan] It has been.

What a spot!

- [Ashley] I know isn't it beautiful here?
- [Dan] What a tree!

I know!

- It has your name written all over it.
- Yes, it does!

So, yeah. The homeowners left
this tree intentionally,

because they really wanted
some sort of,

sculpture or something
out of... the tree.

I thought, who better to call
than you?

[Dan] With this tilt
on this tree

- I think an eagle would be...
- [Ashley] You see an eagle on it?

Oh, it would be sharp, right?

There anything you need
to get up high? Do you have...

- How about you set the staging up and I'll do it.
- [Ashley] Okay.

As soon as we got a staging
set up, we'll let you know.

- Awesome. Bye, Dan.

[Ashley] He said it's totally
possible to turn it into an eagle,

So, he's gonna take over
from here.

It's in his hands now.

[Ryan] Hey, Tom!
What's going on, buddy?

Hey, walk up around, come on in.

Today was a brain day
to get ahead of the situation.

Tom unfortunately told me that
they like a challenge.

- [dog barks]
- Hey!

[Ryan] We need a catwalk.

[Ashley]
Yeah, they want a dogwalk.

So this is... there's
gonna be a loft over here.

So, what we were hoping for
is to get a nice, long dogwalk.

Anytime we've thrown anything
at Tom, he can usually do it.

So, we just wanted him
to come down and check it out.

It definitely has to be
out of aluminum,

'cause if we make it out of
steel, it's gonna be crazy heavy.

Yeah.

An aluminum-framed catwalk
is going to be

stronger, you can
do a bigger span.

So, I think Tom will
do it up right.

And huge improvement on what
we would've been able to do.

[Chase] It's week four,
and the guys are here

to install the new dock system.

[Chase] The old dock was
definitely rickety, sitting on

plastic 55-gallon drums.

This new dock system
is a lot more stable.

It's still
a floating dock system.

But it's four feet wide,

it's got plastic-formed floats
under it.

Blocked together, it's got
chains that anchor to the bottom.

The benefit of having
a floating dock

versus a dock on piers,

is that it is able to rise and
lower with the lake levels.

And because it's a sandy beach
and pretty shallow,

it gives them flexibility for
getting boats tied up to it.

Just in time for winter.

[Jeff] It's gonna
be perfect. I think...

- It is.
- They'll really like it.

[Ryan] I'm at the Emmith camp, it's week
four, and things are going really well.

The guys have the place
framed up,

and the second story loft
is really coming together.

These guys have done a great job

marrying in the old cabin
with the new cabin.

It's almost like the old cabin
is the blueprint,

and all we had to do is
go and take

our measurements off that,
to build the new stuff.

I mean, this is the closest you're gonna
get to blueprints on a Cabin Masters job.

We've received
some of the windows,

but they had to get
transferred over another store.

So we're short a few windows.

That'll push us back
a little bit,

but other than that, it's been
really smooth sailing.

Hopefully, these windows
come in next week.

If not, it could really
screw us up.

It's week six at the
Emmith camp,

and today we're gonna install
the new floor for the loft

in the new addition.

We're also trying to get
the exterior finished up

because winter's coming.

The outside is done,
except for a few windows.

This week we're gonna focus on
the inside of the camp.

We're gonna be building walls in
addition and sheathing in the ceiling.

We're using these in white
pine, like we always do.

But on the walls we're gonna
mix it up and go diagonal.

You know, we always do a
vertical or horizontal,

so, we decided to go with a
45, throw a curveball in there.

Great progress to be made
at the Emmith camp.

Rodney and his crew have been
cranking away.

The ceiling is all sheathed in.

We've got openings
for skylights up there.

The new addition
looks fantastic.

Walls are being closed in.

Waiting on one window here.

This is the main bedroom.

Both good sized,
good views of the waters,

so, looking really nice.

Got a nice,
good sized loft upstairs.

Kitchen will go back,
right there.

This will be the new entryway.

We'll put the deck back here,

give the new entrance in here.

And the place will be
finished off.

Hi, Otis!

[saw whirring]

[Ashley] Today,
Dan the chainsaw artist

is here at the Emmith camp

to carve a big eagle into the
top of the stump that was left.

Dan's really amazing.
He can look at the tree

and see whatever it is that
he has decided to carve into it.

And he starts by just
chopping off big old clumps.

And then slowly,

you can see whatever it is
that he is creating

start to take place.

Hey! I see that!

I see a beak!

[Dan] What do you think?

- It's starting.
- Nice!

[Chase] How's it cutting?

[Dan] It's cutting like butter.

[Chase] Dan is definitely one
of the best chainsaw artists

in the country.

He goes to competitions
all over,

and he does amazing work.

He can take a giant log
and see a creature,

and cut away and end up with
bear, eagle, fish.

You know, whatever.

And then he comes in,
puts details on the feathers.

He torches them, he uses
spray-paint for coloring, whatever, but...

He always has a fantastic
end product.

[Ashley] It is definitely
a conversation piece

as you're walking up
to the camp.

Little leaky.

- I'm trying to fix it, Ryan...
- [Ryan laughs]

Let as little water in
as possible.

We're in the next to last week
at the Emmiths',

and things are going great,

but we have a few issues now.

We have a huge rainstorm
coming in.

And we still don't have
a roof on this place.

The roofers are coming Wednesday,
that doesn't do us any good though.

Michael and Richard
have been up there

figuring out where that leak
was coming in.

I'll get a bunch of
five-gallon buckets.

[all laugh]

They got it somewhat fixed,

but we're really nervous
what's gonna happen.

fabricate the panels off-site.

They bring a roll of roofing
with them,

they have a machine that
runs it right through,

and they can bend the panels
on-site and cut them right to size,

which makes their job go a
lot more efficient and quicker.

And because this roof
has three skylights,

it makes it a little trickier.

But it allows them to do
custom cuts as needed.

And of course, Doug is here
working on the plumbing

to separate the two bathrooms
that are connected to each other.

[Doug] They had two bathrooms
next to each other.

So now, we've left one, it's got
the washer and dryer down there

to be more like the
common bathroom.

And this is in the
master bedroom now,

so this will be more like
the private bathroom.

I've got the rest of the guys setting
up the deck for the new addition.

I think this end's gotta
go down quite a bit.

Yeah, we got half-inch.

Things are moving along great, and I
think the Emmiths are going to love it.

Not a ton of stuff, but...

Well, with having one day,
it's a ton of stuff.

[Chase] So, we are close
to being finished at the camp.

The outside... the roof is on.
Skylights are in.

Addition is done.

We've brought it 12 feet out
this way

to match the existing house.

This deck system used to be
on the front of the camp.

We've pulled it off
to build the addition

and then reattached it
on to the back.

Today we need to

get the deck stairs
properly installed,

the railing up.

We got tons of 2x12s,
tons of 2x4s,

and tons of ballast.

[Chase] Look at this stuff.

[teasing]
Someone's getting excited!

He's scavenging.

[Ryan] This deck was attached
to the original house.

But it wasn't the
same configuration.

The stairs came off that way.

So, I have this railing

with these stairs and that post

I'll have to build a whole new
section out here.

So, I'm gonna have to block it
out, do like a half lap or something.

Nothing's ever as easy
as you'd hope.

extension jams,

and window trim
for the skylights.

but now it's a beautiful day.

My crew and I have been here
working for the past couple of days.

And the place came together
absolutely great.

They fortunately had
a lot of stuff,

lot of art,

that they'd collected,
that I was able to work with.

They really love the color blue.

So, we just kinda came in,
worked with what they had.

And then added our
own little touches.

Our focus was on providing
extra sleeping,

so that's what we did.

We put up more sleeping
upstairs in the loft,

and the downstairs bedroom.

And then in the new,
larger bedroom.

the overall size of the camp,

I mean,
it makes it look so different.

And you already get a sense that

this is going to be
enough for us,

and whoever comes to visit.

So, we couldn't be happier.

We kept the color.

Love it.

Yeah, the color looks awesome.

[Maria] And I love the roof.

It goes so well with that color.

[Ashley] It's gonna
shed snow nicely.

You don't have to worry
about it in the winter.

- [Maria] Okay.

Yeah, and then you
move up to the camp,

we put a 12-foot addition out
to the right side of it.

And we were able to reuse the
original deck and stairs, and railing.

Kind of built off of that.

Repositioned everything.

Looks fantastic!

[Maria] Just so much nicer now.

And bigger!

I can't wait to see
that window up there.

I like the landing over by
the front door too,

having the steps on the correct side,

meaning like, you go towards
the lake,

instead of away from the lake.

It just makes a lot more sense.

to cook outside anymore.

Ashley did a great job
with the kitchen.

It's so bright.

We didn't have
any of that before.

This was not a kitchen redo,
this was just a kitchen,

new kitchen, where there was
no kitchen before.

[Maria] I love those stairs.

[Chase] We knew we wanted to
do a loft over this section as well,

and we needed a way
to connect it.

And we were talking about how
we were gonna fabricate a catwalk.

And we called Tom,
he came right down,

he said, "I'll fabricate you
up a nice..."

[Maria] Oh, the kids are
gonna love that.

You would think that if you have
two disconnected sleeping lofts,

that you're gonna need
two stairs systems.

Well, you don't if you
use a catwalk.

It is breathtaking.
It really is.

And doesn't it feel
lighter in here?

- Like there's a lot light...
- [Dave] Oh, yeah.

There's definitely
more light in here.

[Chase] Because this ceiling
here was still open framing,

we were able to easily cut out
for some skylights.

You know we got
three skylights that open.

Let more light in,
let in more ventilation.

And then we insulated
and closed in the ceiling.

[Maria] That is amazing.

- [Dave] It's all right.
- [all laugh softly]

I can stop in a second.

[Chase] Guys who showed up
their first question was,

"Why are there two bathrooms
right there, side by side?"

We said, "We don't know!
But one's going away."

So, we took out
the bathroom there,

and put it over here.

The main bathroom
with the main bedroom.

- [Dave] What?
- [Maria] Oh, yes!

No way!

- [Dave] Oh, boy!
- Oh, my God!

[giggling excitedly]
Oh, the bathroom!

[overlapping chatter]

[Maria]
This is so nice and airy!

[Dave] There's a shower
that we can fit in.

I mean, my gosh! It's a bedroom.

We never had a bedroom in here.

So, now we can stay up here
comfortably for months.

Which is what we were
looking to do.

Oh, how cute!

[Diane] No way!

[Maria] Look at this. They
were able to fit all of this in here.

- How?
- This was so tight before!

[Diane]
This is so amazing, guys!

The camp was a great place
to stay for a couple of days,

or maybe a week.

But after you try living in it
for a little while,

it became obvious that,
wow, we needed some help.

[Chase] We were able to finish
the cabin in eight weeks,

which I was very skeptical of,
in the beginning.

And since it was a newer cabin and
there was material stored under the camp,

we were able to hit their
$55,000 budget.

All right!

- That's our cue, then.
- That's our cue!

[overlapping chatter]

They're amazing.
I can't believe what they did

with this camp.

Because it wasn't comfortable,
no offence.

But now there's a bedrooms,
there's a kitchen,

and there's just room
for everybody.

We've got a lot of people
in the family that

are gonna just love this. They
did a tremendous job with this.

It's so special.

Everything has exceeded
our expectations.

I mean, it's above and beyond.

And we are just so pleased.
