How on earth

can I catch the monk

without anyone noticing it?

Patron...

Everyone knows one brilliant trick.

Let’s see how you are going to

get free off this young lord’s hands.

Young monk, you cannot escape

from this young lord’s palms.

Thank you, Zhaoyi Nie, for coming with me

to pray at Donglin Temple.

This is the tea from the palace

that has just been brewed with the mountain spring water.

Serve it to Zhaoyi Nie first.

It is actually Wushuang who should thank

Imperial Concubine for helping her

to come to Donglin Temple to pray.

It is just that Wushuang

have never had a chance to ask

why Imperial Concubine

wanted to come with Concubine Du.

Imperial Concubine will tell

Zhaoyi Nie about it after

Zhaoyi Nie drinks her tea.

Don’t!

Don’t drink this tea.

If I didn’t guess correctly,

there is medicine in this tea.

How can Zhaoyi Nie

accuse Imperial Concubine of harbouring evil intentions?

You should drink tea first.

Zhaoyi can drink this tea with peace of mind.

Don’t drink it.

This tea will drive you crazy

after you drink it.

Imperial Concubine Pin Yu,

how could you do such a thing to Zhaoyi Nie?

She saved you again and again.

Xia Lan,

I have told you many times

that this is Imperial Concubine Yun.

The words you said

are as harmful

as this tea.

Imperial Concubine is pregnant with the imperial heir.

She definitely cannot get hurt.

Imperial Concubine...

I ask Zhaoyi Nie to forgive me.

I also did it for the sake of the fetus in my belly.

I acted against my will.

Imperial Concubine, you do not need to do this.

It is not your fault.

Hurry up and rise.

Pin Yu is ashamed.

Xia Lan,

go and invite the person who is

waiting for the result.

Yes.

Nie Wushuang, I can’t believe

how much luck you have in your life

to escape death time after time.

I also cannot believe

that you actually came to Donglin Temple

to meet with Gu Qinghong.

That’s correct. Imperial Concubine Du is really smart.

I am here to see Gu Qinghong.

Very well.

I will go and ask

His Majesty to come

and declare to the whole world

that you are a woman of loose morals

that has deceived His Majesty,

King of Rui and Gu Qinghong.

There is no need to turn your embarrassment into anger.

If you alarm Your Majesty,

you will never have a chance

to see your minister Gu again.

This is not what you want, is it?

Nie Wushuang, you!

As long as you no longer

threaten Pin Yu

with harming her baby in the future,

I will help you.

What will you help me with?

Meet Gu Qinghong in my stead.

Qianqian.

Minister Gu.

How could it be you?

Why are you always

disappointed

What did you do to Wushuang?

Nie Wushuang belongs to Xiao brothers.

And your Miao Qianqian

has been killed by your own hands.

Minister Gu,

I have dreamed of meeting you every day.

You have aged a lot

without using the congealed cinnabar.

I am telling you,

I will never eat

congealed cinnabar again

I am not your minister Gu anymore.

I really want to know

if you were also so indifferent

if the real Miao Qianqian

was standing in front of you.

Minister Gu,

don’t you want to see

our child?

I don’t think

I will ever see

this child in my life.

Because after tonight

I will no longer exist.

Xie Chengxuan, the one you saved

is not the prime minister Gu

that you have created.

I am going to offer my life

to Miao siblings.

No!

My child cannot lose his father!

Yan'er

I have been suffering in this world.

You should use your methods

to prevent this child

from coming into this world

to suffer.

What… what are you talking about?

What are you talking about?!

No.

I do not want to be

a Li State Princess.

I do not want to be

Lan State’s concubine.

I just want to

be with you all my life.

Minister Gu, do you know

that I wanted to see you

every day even after I got married?

I was wondering

if you were not able to let go

just as I.

If you would take me away

if I let go of everything.

Xiao Fengming

has never touched me.

He just contained me

to let me help him

get the other half of the treasure map.

But once the labour comes,

both mother and child

will come to a bad end.

Minister Gu, do you have a heart?

Minister Gu, look here.

This is me and your child.

This… this is our child.

Don’t you want to

take a look at him?

I don’t deserve it.

Forget about me.

Minister Gu,

I cannot live without you!

I have put down

all my pride

for you.

I dressed up as Miao Qianqian

just to meet you.

I have decided before I have come here

that I can drop everything

and walk away with you

if you want.

Yan'er, you were my benefactor.

I should have been buried

in the sea of flames in Xie mansion in Huainan.

It was you who saved my life.

I have always been

grateful to you and your brother

that you helped me get closed to the Miao family to get my revenge.

But ever since I learned

that I am just a pawn

in your brother’s hands,

our past and our future

was reduced to ashes.

I do not want

to be your puppet anymore.

Let’s put everything to end

today.

Gu Qinghong,

I am going to ask you one last time.

Are you going to offer your life

to Miao Qianqian?

Yes.

She has no right to kill you.

I saved your life

so you can only give your life to me.

I never want to see you again

in this life and in the afterlife.

Qiuzi.

Come, come, come.

Young monk Qingyuan.

Young monk Qingyuan.

Why are you here?

I don’t know it either.

I was sleeping

when someone knocked me out.

You must be happy now.

It turns out that the only thing

Gu Qinghong can't let go of is you.

Even when I am

pregnant with his child,

he has no affection for me.

I

lost completely.

Gao Yan,

you should not think like this.

As long as you and your child

are safe and sound

everything will take a favourable turn.

I don’t need your sympathy.

As long as I drink this medicine

I will go crazy.

You will never get rid of

your guilt towards me for the rest of your life.

Xiao Yan!

Stay away from me!

I forbid you to call me Xiao Yan!

Who are you?

Why?

Why do you get anyone’s love

without doing anything?

As long as I take our two lives today,

since the dead cannot bear witness,

you will be universally condemned.

Don’t!

Very well. Die.

I will enjoy watching

your blood flow dry.

You should know

that I will be happier

than anyone else when you die.

Gu Qinghong, His Majesty, King of Rui,

and even your imperial brother

will fall in love with me.

Will that not make you jealous?

But since you are already dead,

you will never have a chance

to fight with me again.

Gu Qinghong, you really came.

I will

end the bloody feud

between you and Miao Family tonight.

Believe it or not,

I have asked Qianqian to come to Donglin Temple

just to pay

everything I owe her back,

including my life.

Do you think we will forgive you

just because you want to die?

Even if you are torn to pieces,

it will not be enough to solve the grudge.

Come on then.

Come on! Do it!

I am going to take your life!

This is the wound you owe Qianqian.

This is the wound

you owe my wife and son.

This wound

is for all my brothers.

What else do you have to say?

Help me pass a message to Qianqian

that whatever I owe her

in this life,

I will surely repay in the next one.

Patron!

- Elder Brother Miao! - Patron!

- Stop it! - Patron!

Let go of me!

This will kill people!

- Let go of me! - Elder Brother Miao!

- Let go of me! - Be careful!

Patron!

Elder Brother Miao!

You cannot!

- Princess! - Yunle!

- Yunle! - Princess

Yunle! Yunle!

Princess!

Wake up, Yunle!

Princess

- Wake up, Yunle! - Princess!

Gu Qinghong!

Princess...

This is the second time I have saved you.

When you were burned by fire,

you were called Xie Chengxuan.

Now you are wounded by a sword

and are called Gu Qinghong.

But it was Princess Xiao Yan back then

that begged me to save you.

Now it is my personal decision to save you.

I don’t want you to save me.

My fate

was returned to Miao Family.

I just want to die quickly.

I am too tired of living, it will be a true relief.

But I won’t allow it.

I do not want Princess Xiao Yan’s child

to be fatherless.

What else will allow me

to suppress Imperial Concubine Du?

You!

How would it be interesting to destroy

Great Lan without you?

Imperial Physician Du, how is the Princess faring?

Replying to Imperial Concubine,

Princess’ sword wound

is only superficial.

It did not hurt any meridians.

There is no danger to her life.

Then why does Princess’s face

look so bad

and she is still in a coma?

Princess has just received a big shock.

She fainted because of the fright

and not because of excessive blood loss.

I have given her an injection,

she will definitely wake up soon.

Imperial Physician Du, you should withdraw first.

Yes.

Imperial son-in-law,

I had not the time to ask you before.

Why is the Imperial son-in-law’s head injured?

I found something peculiar in the peach blossom forest.

I was about to investigate it when I was attacked.

Yunle.

How is Elder Brother Miao? Is he all right?

Yunle,

you must be scared and confused

to say such nonsense.

It is a good thing that you were not badly hurt.

We will be leaving for the palace soon.

As for the other things,

imperial sister-in-law will handle it impartially.

Imperial sister-in-law...

Imperial sister-in-law,

you must not blame anyone.

All this has nothing to do with Elder Brother Miao

and Qingyuan.

Princess, no one has been punished

but everyone is worried about you.

You are weak now.

Hurry and lie down first.

Regain your peace of mind

and have a rest.

Me being alive or dead

has nothing to do with you two.

Everyone, withdraw for now.

Let Yunle rest alone.

You two stay behind

and take care of Yunle.

I don't want to see

anyone related to Nie Wushuang.

Xia Lan, go out with me.

Yes.

Are you the offender Qingyuan?

Your Majesty,

this humble monk asked the ins and outs

of this matter.

This is really a misunderstanding.

How is the Princess?

Qingyuan,

Her Majesty asks you how the matters stand.

Quickly tell her about

everything you saw.

Humble monk really did not mean to

harm the Princess.

Humble monk was knocked out by someone

and put in a sack.

Later he was saved by the Princess.

Hearing the sound of the clashing swords,

I saw Commander Miao

fighting with someone.

Princess wanted to come forward to discourage them

and in the chaos the sword that has no eyes

has hit the Princess.

General Miao is Great Lan’s

White Horse Cavalry Commanding General.

How could he fight with someone here?

Did you clearly see who that man was?

It was getting late.

Humble monk did not see clearly.

General Miao.

Official is present.

Aren’t you supposed to train

new recruits in the barracks?

Why are you at Donglin Temple?

Wang Shijie.

Official is present.

Are you not the chief commander

in charge of the convoy?

Whose will it was to change the leadership?

Your Majesty,

it was this humble official who took an unauthorized departure from office.

I ask Your Majesty to mete out punishment.

General Miao is not a person

who runs amok in general.

There must be another secret behind it.

Reporting to Your Majesty,

humble official will not hide

that he actually came here

to end the blood feud with Gu Qinghong.

I heard that

Prime Minister Gu has resigned

from his post as the prime minister

and disappeared from Li State.

Why would he meet

with General Miao this night?

Gu Qinghong has come here

to pay back the blood debt

he owed for over 100 lives of the Miao Family.

General Miao is highly regarded in Great Lan.

Would Prime Minister Gu’s move

not be equivalent to dying in vain?

Where is Prime Minister Gu now?

Replying to Your Majesty,

he disappeared after

Princess Yunle got hurt.

It seems that there were many other issues hidden

behind praying at Donglin Temple this time.

I do not know how many grievances and resentments there still are.

I cannot ask

more questions here.

Everything will be decided by His Majesty

when we return to the palace.

You should all think hard

what should you say when you meet His Majesty.

Your Majesty,

how should we proceed with Qingyuan then?

It is always necessary to hand over the party

to calm things down

before the things are clear.

Princess was wounded by a sword.

How should it be explained to His Majesty

and Empress Dowager?

Your Majesty,

since this matter is related to the Princess,

how about handing Qingyuan

over to this official?

All right.

Qingsi.

Present.

Prepare some food and water for Qingyuan

and some clean clothes.

Yes.

Rest assured, abbot.

As long as what he said is true,

Qingyuan will return to

Donglin Temple unscathed.

May Lord Buddha preserve us.

Don’t be afraid, Princess.

Jiao Tong… your...

your hands...

Imperial Concubine Du should remember

that no matter what Jiao Tong looks like

my heart belongs to Imperial Concubine

and Imperial Concubine Yun.

You should also remember

that no matter if I am in the palace or not,

I can still control you

and the safety of the imperial heir that you are carrying.

But I am worried

that when His Majesty interrogates me

about the Donglin Temple’s matter,

I will not be able to hide anything.

Rest assured, Imperial Concubine.

I will give Imperial Concubine a good show to watch

and keep you safe in the palace.

Young Lord,

this horse was prepared for you.

Here is the dry food you wanted.

I will trade

my horse with you.

Which direction

do these two roads go respectively?

The one behind goes to the Li State,

the one in front leads to the Lan State.

Come over.

Come over.

Thank you.

Come over. Come over.

Who do you want to arrest?

Li State’s

prime minister.

All right, come over.

That’s exactly what happened.

Qingyuan dared not say half of lie.

Monks never lie.

I ask Your Majesty for a clear judgement.

Reporting to Your Majesty,

the Late Emperor

lit the incense at the world’s famous Donglin Temple

and the country flourished.

If you dispose of the monk,

it will provoke the public wrath

of the Buddhist devotees all over the world.

But the person Qingyuan hurt

was Princess Yunle.

This case concerns the imperial lineage’s dignity.

How can we judge things in haste?

This monk is very young.

Maybe he was installed as a spy

at Donglin Temple by the Li State?

I am wronged, Your Majesty.

Humble monk is Lan State’s loyal subject.

How can he be Li State’s secret spy?

Your Majesty, this matter was started by this humble official.

I ask Your Majesty to punish this humble minister.

Miao Minghu,

you took an unauthorized departure from office

and disregarded the military discipline

and ran to Donglin Temple

to settle personal grievances.

Since you were proved guilty,

I will hold you accountable.

Humble official shall reflect on his conduct

and let Your Majesty decide his fate.

Have you found the whereabouts of Gu Qinghong?

People have been sent to step up the search.

Li State has also posted an arrest order

for Gu Qinghong at different country gates.

This matter concerns the good relations between both countries.

I want everything to be strictly verified.

Qingyuan,

before Gu Qinghong is found,

I will put you in the Court of Judicial Review.

Wait for the day when everything is cleared out.

Yes.

Withdraw.

Yes.

Third Elder Brother,

what the young monk said is no different

from what Ding Keyong

has reported back.

But who hurt

Xue Bi’s head?

It must have been Yunle.

But I think

Yunle would not hurt Xue Bi

for Miao Minghu’s sake.

Why did she do that then?

And why is Xue Bi

paying do much attention

to this young monk Qingyuan?

Third Elder Brother, you can rest assured.

This young monk is going to be in great trouble.

Empress Dowager will definitely not let him off.

The more Xue Bi

cares about this young monk

the more significant person

Qingyuan becomes.

I do not care whether

Qingyuan has hurt

the Princess intentionally or unintentionally.

If we don’t find Gu Qinghong

Qingyuan will have to apologise for offence

and then we shall decide what next.

But Qingyuan cannot be killed.

Why not?

This fight stemmed from

the personal grudge between Miao Minghu and Gu Qinghong.

The young monk

has just encountered unexpected calamity.

Empress Dowager sincerely believes in Buddhist philosophy.

Donglin Temple is also famous around the world.

If we were t slaughter a monk in a moment of anger,

it could damage Empress Dowager’s reputation.

Imperial Mother.

What son-in-law said is not unreasonable.

It will not be too late

to behead Qingyuan after

Gu Qinghong is found.

I would like to see

how Your Majesty is going to deal with Miao Minghu.

Miao Minghu has been fighting corruption in the imperial court.

He established meritorious services and was rewarded for it.

If we pull him down in haste,

I am afraid that civil and military officials of the whole dynasty

will say that I issue an order at down to rescind it at

dusk. (I am changing my orders and mind very quickly)

It is inevitable that I will be suspected of

using palace taboos of getting rid of good ministers.

Your Majesty is so indulgent and conniving.

Are you afraid that it will be hard to convince people? (od Miao Minghu’s guilt)

Reporting to Empress Dowager,

Concubine Du has an important matter to report.

Let her in.

Yes.

This female servant pays respects to Empress Dowager,

pays respects to Your Majesties.

What do you have to report?

This matter is related to Princess’ assassination.

This time, we went to Donglin Temple

to pray for this female servan’s

safe pregnancy.

But such a thing has happened

unexpectedly.

This female servant was tossing about in her bed

as her heart felt really heavy.

Therefore, she must tell what she has seen

so she can free herself from worries.

What did you see?

This female servant felt her chest tighten at night

so she went for a walk.

She did not expect to run into Zhaoyi Nie

that was meeting a man in the peach blossom forest.

And this man was actually Li State Prime Minister Gu.

What?

It seemed that they were still talking about

eloping or something...

Enough.

You do not need to use such absurd ideas

to frame others.

This female servant is not framing anyone.

This female servant is only describing

what she saw.

King of Rui,

it is His Majesty’s concubine that is being disgraced.

King of Rui, why are you getting so enraged?

How could

Zhaoyi Nie do such a thing on a Buddhist land

regardless of the consequences?

It is impossible to even think about it.

Concubine Du is over-sensitive during the first pregnancy.

She probably did not do it on purpose.

Concubine Du,

I haven’t chatted with you

for a long time.

Why don’t we go back to Guanju Palace?

I can listen to your words carefully

and talk to you this way.

Yes.

Imperial Mother,

son has other matters to attend. I shall take my leave first.

I dare not bother Empress Dowager with my presence.

If it weren’t for His Majesty going to Shangyuan Palace

I would have not come at all.

Lest the King of Rui’ Mansion

could suffer a calamity again.

Imperial Mother, calm your anger.

The most important thing at the moment

is to tend to Yunle’s health.

This female servant was thinking about

having Yunle recuperate at Shangyuan Palace.

Firstly, so that the Imperial Mother can be at ease.

Secondly, this female servant is her imperial sister-in-law.

It will be also more convenient for her to walk around and stretch her legs.

Very well

This way, Imperial son-in-law can concentrate

on tracking the real murderer.

Yes.

Imperial Mother, Ziyan is too naughty.

it is very hard to take care of him.

Why don’t you let this female servant...

No.

I can still deal with the trifle matters

in the harem.

If empress wants to use this opportunity

to take Ziyan back,

you should wait for another time.

There is only you and I left now.

You can tell me everything.

You said that Zhaoyi Nie wanted to meet with Gu Qinghong in private

Why did she go to the Donglin Temple

on fifteenth May and meet

the person that should actually love you

in the peach blossom forest?

I have long suspected that Nie Wushuang

will plot against me to confuse truth and falsehood.

Since coming back from Donglin Temple to the palace,

Zhaoyi Nie has never seen me,

which means she is smarter than you.

You chose to gain the initiative by striking the first blow

and she chose to have the presence of mind in the face of a crisis.

Protect the emperor!

How dare you to come back, you monster?!

I came to see the

the revived flowers in the palace.

Sacred Princess has revived hundreds of flowers.

It is the time for the divine bird to appear.

I came to check

whether it was hidden in the Lan Palace.

Who on earth has sent you?

Was it the same man who wore black robes

in the military camp in the north?

Go and ask your Fifth Younger Brother.

Isn’t it obvious?

He is as different as I am.

Nonsense.

What are your motives for sneaking

into Lan Palace?

Who in the whole world can resist the temptation

of the treasure map?

Was that not your purpose

when Your Majesty

has married the Princess?

Was I not lurking around Gao Yan since childhood

because I had my own motives as well?

I am sorry, Princess.

Your Majesty, save me! Save me!

Princess,

you’d better be honest.

Your Majesty,

one is a humble maidservant,

the other a pregnant

Imperial Concubine Du

It is up to you to choose.

Withdraw.

Release Concubine Du. I will let you go.

Imperial Concubine, are you all right?

Send for the imperial physician to have a look.

Yes.

Avoid stirring the fetus.

Servants!

Officials are present.

Give this letter

denouncing Li State to the Ministry of Rites.

Let him announce it to the whole world

and force Li State to hand over Gu Qinghong.

I shall obey.

Why are you alone in the garden at midnight?

Wushuang is worried that the flowers will be destroyed again

so she is watching over the imperial garden.

Among all people in the six palaces, only Zhaoyi Nie

really loves imperial garden.

If I didn’t come to see you tonight,

would you take the initiative to look for me?

Wushuang knows

that Your Majesty is worried

about Princess being stabbed.

She dared not bother Your Majesty again.

You are worried

that I will blame your elder brother Miao Minghu.

It is not his fault.

Everything started with Wushuang.

It was Wushuang who received a note

from Gu Qinghong that day.

She shouldn’t have shown it to Elder Brother

Gu Qinghong has resigned.

This matter is no longer involving

the sentiments of both countries.

it is just a personal grudge.

The reason why Wushuang did not tell Your Majesty about it

was because she just wanted to

dissolve everyone’s knot in the heart that night.

This knot is now dissolved.

But maybe

there will be another one.

After all, it was a slaughter of the whole family.

I heard that your sister-in-law

was pregnant for a few months already at that time.

I have decided

I have promised Li State

to pursue and capture Gu Qinghong

and make him responsible

for the Donglin Temple’s incident.
