you need to have a target machine or 4

So this is a computer that you're going to target 6

and try to hack and test the attacks 7

that we're gonna learn against. 8

So you can do this against any machine 9

but I highly recommend installing 10

target machines as virtual machines. 11

This is great because it won't break 12

a real computer for you if you 13

actually break something, it's also very easy 14

to fix even if you have a computer 15

that you don't care about, it's very easy to fix 16

virtual machines, you can just remove it 17

and reinstall it or store a snapshot 18

and go back to it. 19

Now as we all know Windows is a very common 20

operating system, it's used by a lot of people 21

so in this lecture I'm gonna show you 22

how to install Windows 10 as a virtual machine 23

so that we can test some of the attacks 24

that we're gonna learn in the future against it. 25

So we'll use this machine with scenarios that 26

may make a normal user that is just 27

using their Windows to browse the internet 28

or do whatever normal people do 29

with their machines. 30

So Microsoft has actually released a free, 31

free versions or free virtual machines 32

of windows that you can download and use. 33

and you're allowed to download them 35

and we're downloading them from Microsoft's website. 36

so if you Windows, you click on the Windows tab, 43

and from here make sure you select Windows 10 stable 47

and make sure you select the VirtualBox image. 48

allow you to install virtual machines. 50

At the moment we're using VirtualBox 51

Now this is a virtual machine, a VirtualBox 58
