Something happened in the building behind me

that has been called the most mysterious death

of the 21st century.

I don't know how long it's been... over 10 years...

That I have physically walked through those doors

and begged management to allow us to investigate...

The cecil hotel.

This place has seen serial killers...

Yes, plural.

It has seen multiple suicides.

Murder...

Devil worshipping...

Hauntings at a whole other level.

And that mysterious death case that I was talking to you about,

it involves somebody that you have probably heard about

because you've probably seen and have been haunted

by the elevator footage of elisa lam.

For years, this mysterious unsolved case has terrified me,

so we've come here to see if elisa was influenced by an evil,

unseen force.

As far as the cecil hotel, this is the first

and the last time that they will ever

allow anybody to walk into that building with cameras.

It does not get any bigger and more sinister than this.

There are things in this world

that we will never fully understand.

Every hotel has suicides, every hotel maybe would have

a murder or two, not like this.

where you have done research on the cecil hotel.

Can you tell me a little bit about elisa lam?

Elisa lam was a 21-year-old student from canada.

She came down here on a vacation.

21-year-old elisa lam was last seen nearly

three weeks ago at the hotel.

Surveillance video from the hotel's elevator

show her acting unusual, as if she's hiding from someone.

Then lam disappeared January 31st.

The baughs never saw lam

but knew something at their hotel was off.

There was something wrong. The pressure in

the water was terrible. The shower was awful.

The hotel's maintenance man responding to guest

complaints went to check the four rooftop tanks

that feed the building's main water supply.

On the 19th of February, her body was found

in the water tank up on the roof.

It made me feel really sick yesterday and until now,

knowing that we've been drinking this water for eight days.

It was a huge story at the time.

And there are many suggestions and theories

as to how she got up there,

why she was up there, what happened.

And that continues to today.

I cannot wrap my brain around how she died.

I mean, when you watch that elevator footage,

is she talking to somebody else?

Was there somebody involved in her death?

February 2013, an autopsy is performed.

On June 15th, elisa's death is marked as an accident

on the coroner's report.

Three days later on the 18th,

it is abruptly changed to could not be determined.

Before the report is released to the public,

it is once again changed back to the original finding.

Elisa lam's death is ruled as an accident.

So much mystery surrounding it, you can't help but introduce

the theory of what has made this hotel

have one of the darkest reputations,

and that's the hauntings. Yeah.

This entire building will be closed to the public

during our investigation.

This is the elevator that she was on.

Here's a still that I took of the elevator footage,

and I'm trying to know exactly what floor she was on

by matching up patterns in the background here, a wall.

This is my first steps inside of the actual elevator

that elisa lam was on.

This is the exact location where elisa was standing.

- Does that line up? - Yeah, this is it.

The security camera's right there that captured this.

So in this footage, you could see elisa lam in this corner.

She was like hiding from somebody.

She then stepped out. She looked both ways like this.

She went back into the elevator.

These are the buttons that she was pushing nonstop.

What was she doing, who was she hiding from right here?

Who was she talking to out here?

She was standing here, she had weird hand movements right here.

Her fingers were spread apart. She was moving in weird ways.

What happened to you?

Okay, so we are on the 4th floor.

I have patrick with me.

Patrick used to work

as a crime scene photographer for the lapd.

Patrick, you stayed in elisa lam's room, correct?

I did. Yes. Okay.

We are for the very first time,

going to go to room 412, which was elisa lam's room.

Elisa originally shared a room with roommates,

but they complained about elisa's strange behavior,

forcing her to move into this room alone.

What happened to you in here?

I felt something on my neck, you know, choking me,

and I panicked.

Did you feel hands around you? I did.

I felt something like this, you know,

against my esophagus, like here.

And it's like, and then I couldn't move,

you know, it's like paralysis where you're, you know,

it was a very, very disturbing feeling

because you're helpless. You can't do anything.

Could the entity that attempted to harm patrick

be the same entity that many people speculate

may have influenced elisa lam on the day of her tragic death?

I can't stay in there anymore, zak.

That's when it punched the walls.

It's alright.

A former lapd crime scene photographer,

who's witnessed countless horrific events

that would traumatize the average person,

just left this interview due to the force of evil

this building contains.

We are now getting ready

to go onto the very roof where the water tanks are

where they found elisa lam's body.

How did elisa access the roof when this door is locked

and alarmed at all times?

This is one of the many questions

that remain unanswered.

How did elisa's body wind up here?

She had no significant drugs or alcohol in her system.

The coroner's report indicated there was no sign of trauma.

The water tank where they found elisa lam's body

is that one back there

with a ladder still leaning up against it.

I'm going to climb up here.

The incident is listed as an accidental drowning,

but so many questions remain.

Many speculate she climbed this ladder.

Opened the very heavy lid up top.

Jumped in.

When elise's body was found, the heavy metal lid was closed.

How could she have possibly closed it once inside the water,

her clothes found at the bottom of the tank

were covered in a sandy particulate suggesting

they were removed before she entered the water.

Why would she go through such a complicated routine

to take her own life?

I mean, there's a lot of steps that you have to take

to come up here, to go up here, to climb up this ladder

and to end your life by drowning.

Did her bipolar disorder contribute to her situation

or was there a dark and powerful entity

taking advantage of elisa's state of mind?

The death of elisa lam

is one of the most mysterious cases the world has ever seen.

What drove her to such erratic behavior?

Could it be she was influenced

by something conjured by a previous guest?

So, james, tell me about richard ramirez, and when was he here?

Richard ramirez stayed here in 1985.

Richard ramirez, a drifter from el paso, texas,

and a self-described satan worshipper,

began his reign of terror in June 1984.

Ramirez had gone on a killing rampage so grisly,

the deputy district attorney, phil halpin,

said ramirez had probably rewritten the book

on serial murders.

He was staying here when he killed. Yeah.

He's had 13 confirmed victims.

He's supposed to have dumped some of his bloody clothes

out the back here in this alley,

where we're standing, in the dumpsters.

Richard ramirez was still alive in prison

when elisa's body was found.

But is it possible that his devil worshipping rituals

that many say took place on the very roof

where elisa lam's body was discovered

may have opened up this building to a demonic infestation

that could have influenced elisa's disturbing behavior?

To help us answer this question,

we've enlisted the help

of psychic team michael and marti perry.

As marti heads to the roof

where the body of elisa was discovered,

we sent marti to the 14th floor without telling her

she will be working in richard ramirez's room.

Many believe elisa was playing an elevator ritual game

that originated in korea.

By hitting a sequence of buttons,

it's designed to allow its participants

to travel between spiritual dimensions.

And for that reason, I will attempt this urban legend.

Elisa? What I felt like

was that someone was trying to get rid of her,

like hide her. Right.

That she didn't do this and that she was dead

before she was in the tank.

So someone's with her and knows to bring her up here.

You're saying that you feel like someone put her there.

Someone, whether they were alive

or not, you know, not in a physical body.

Somebody influenced her.

Could they... could they possess her?

As I complete the final step of the elevator game,

I enter the lobby when suddenly the elevator

mysteriously shoots up to the 7th floor.

Look at that. Why'd the elevator just skyrocket up?

I didn't press that.

It just went to the 7th floor.

There's nobody on the 7th floor.

Look, here it comes. I don't hit the button,

but here it comes.

I take the elevator to the 7th floor

hoping to get an answer.

Is there somebody that got on the elevator with me?

The energy in this place is pure panic, anxiety, tension.

It's as if there are people walking amongst me,

but I cannot see them.

While marti finished her drawings, michael and I

meet up outside her door.

Why don't we go in?

I find it ironic he calls his wife a killer

when even he doesn't know whose room this is.

Perhaps marti has captured the essence of souls

who lost their lives in this menacing structure.

Could this be louis d. Borden found dead in his room in 1934?

Could this be pigeon goldie, a retired telephone operator

who was murdered in 1964 in room 1016?

But this is not all marti has picked up on.

I want to know who's a murderer right here.

Has marti picked up on the presence of ramirez

as she sits in the very room he occupied?

Sensing this connection, we move to elisa lam's room

to see if michael or marti can feel his influence.

When michael said that "he's here for you, richard,"

everything clicked.

Guess what's on the drawings?

What did michael said he saw in the water tank?

Remember what I said I couldn't see what I was looking at there

on that tank? - Uh-huh.

It was a pentagram.

Michael, patrick, and even myself,

we all have been deeply affected

by the intense energy in this building.

It's become clear elisa lam may very well

have fallen victim to this same dark presence.

Okay, this is what it has come down to,

building is clear of everyone.

It's just us. We are at the cecil hotel.

We are going to start off by who, I believe,

may have started marking me.

I had something happen to my eye and a mark manifested on my eye.

I felt a stabbing pain in my bottom of my leg.

And marti was there to witness that.

And as michael told me

that richard ramirez was in the room...

It's a big cold breeze.

It came right through here.

Wow. Just as I mentioned richard ramirez.

He could be in any room.

We are on the 4th floor.

And we are going to go to the 14th floor.

We're going back to the 14th floor

because something's happening.

As we head to the elevator to take us to the 14th floor,

we all hear what sounds like faint, disembodied voices.

So we stay here to investigate.

I just saw a dark shadow on the right hand side

with my own eyes.

and compelling spirit response we have ever documented.

We just received an intelligent response from a male spirit

answering my question that we are talking to elisa lam,

followed by an unexplained female voice.

Who are we talking to?

Did that just say "elisa"?

Right after this amazing audio evidence,

billy notices the laser grid detecting a cold spot

that's either entering or leaving the room.

The thermal laser grid just lit up all blue.

Something came out of that room into the grid.

Still in shock from the audio evidence in elisa's room,

we continue to try to get more responses,

but they suddenly stop.

So we now decide to head up to the 14th floor to investigate

serial killer richard ramirez's room to see

if his devil worshipping rituals opened the cecil hotel

to a demonic infestation

that many speculate could have affected

elisa lam and anyone else

who enters this building to this day.

from down that hall, a girl screaming from down the hall.

This is alarming.

As we notice aaron acting strangely,

he starts hearing things that no one else does.

I now open the door to richard ramirez's room.

Zak, I don't feel good, dude.

- What? - I feel really panicky right now.

Super anxiety, like I'm in danger or some.

I just felt it too.

Like, it just washed over. Soon as I opened that door,

it came through. Yeah, that's when it happened.

Aaron?

Where is he? What the hell did you just take off for?

You can't leave.

Why did you do that?

I heard something... What are you doing?

I just started walking and investigating that scream,

the next thing I know... You can't leave us.

I didn't mean to. Not when things

are all happening like that.

Aaron is now being led away from the group by unexplained voices.

What is trying to separate him from us?

We all now head back to richard ramirez's room.

What's wrong?

I seriously wanted to rush you guys, like tackle you down.

It was weird.

Aaron's having rage, which is extremely rare for aaron.

It is at this time that I remove two

of my original richard ramirez drawings

that he did while in prison,

which I placed in the closet during michael

and marti perry's readings.

As I do this, we capture two light anomalies near aaron

up by the ceiling that we debunk as not being lens flares.

I decide to get aaron out of the room

because this isn't the place

to push something like this even further,

where massive amounts of mysterious suicides

have also occurred.

Billy decides he wants to remain here in this room by himself.

But as we leave, aaron asks ramirez

if he likes the drawings, and we receive this.

Thank. It said "thanks" for bringing the paintings.

As aaron and I arrive back on the 4th floor where

elisa lam's room is located,

jay tells us he heard noises in the hallway

while we were on the 14th floor.

I kept hearing crazy noises in the hallway.

So I just went and looked and there's nothing.

There's a couple blind spots that I can't see on camera.

So I just wanted to check and I see nothing.

I quickly grab the sls camera

to see if I can spot any figures in the area.

Elisa, are still here in the elevator?

Are you inside the elevator?

Is anybody inside the elevator?

- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! - Oh, my god, dude.

Looks like she's standing right by the door, waving!

Aaron and I are blown away as the elevator door opens

and a clear figure is standing inside.

It was standing inside of that elevator. I saw that.

Standing right there. That's the same exact elevator

that I felt something come walk into the elevator with me

during the elevator game.

And the same exact one she was in.

I just felt an ice cold mass of air come in to the elevator.

I immediately tell jay to grab the binaural microphone

and investigate this elevator

while aaron rushes to elisa's room to use the spirit box.

And I decide to take full spectrum photos

in the hallways outside elisa's room.

Billy is still alone in ramirez's room,

conducting a paranormal puck 2 session.

Whether that's true or not, I don't know,

but let's assume that it is a friend,

let's assume that it's elisa.

This is getting eerie.

First of all, I don't think you're a friend,

because I don't feel the friendly vibe.

This is really terrifying. Billy needs to be very careful.

We believe a very dark entity is playing a game with billy,

telling him it's his friend

that wants a female living person for itself.

regarding elisa lam's death?

that unbelievably said elisa's full name in her room?

Jay now further tries to make contact

with the sls figure aaron and I just captured,

and as he enters the elevator on the 4th floor,

watch the other elevator open unexplainably.

My friend zak was on this elevator earlier.

He was playing something called the elevator game,

where you try to do a ritual in this elevator

and open up a portal.

Did he do that right? Did he open a portal?

He said he felt somebody come on here with him,

he could feel their presence. Who was that?

Can you tell me your name or who you are?

As aaron is inside the room trying to get more answers,

I'm outside in the hallway also trying to communicate.

Will you talk to me when I pass you?

As I receive this unknown male response...

...I immediately use my full spectrum camera

and take rapid-fire pictures.

As you can see in this first photo, nothing appears.

But in the second photo,

a dark shadow figure appears to the left.

And as I take the third photo, it gets closer to me.

Here are the photos taken in succession.

At first we thought it could be my own shadow.

However, there is no light source behind me

that could be projecting this shadow.

We are not able to explain this dark shadow figure.

After adjusting the brightness and color of the photos,

this unknown shadow figure can be seen much more distinctly.

As the night wears on,

jay continues his investigation of the elevator

where elisa lam was photographed just moments before her death.

I'm gonna try to do... elisa lam, when she was in here,

she was hitting all the buttons.

So before I get out of the elevator,

I'm going to hit all the buttons,

go to every floor real quick, all the way down,

see if anything happens while I'm going.

If anything comes on, if I feel anything move on or off.

The first button I pressed was 15

and it just took me to seven.

That is weird.

That is really weird. That's the same place that it took zak.

We're almost to the top.

Listen closely as jay captures an incredible female

disembodied voice that says, "hey."

is this elisa?

It was a female voice that said "hey."

Where's richard?

Who killed elisa?

I want to know if elisa's spirit is still here.

She's present?

Why? That's not good.

This is a chilling response.

Is elisa lam's spirit telling billy

that she is in his presence?

This next response is even more disturbing,

yet truly remarkable.

Who killed elisa? Answer me.

A being? What kind of a being?

Was it a living being?

If that's true and elisa's spirit still is here

at this up hotel, that's just...

It just makes you sad.

Elisa, if you are trapped here,

I'm offering for you to come with me, to be near me,

and I will do whatever I can to make sure that you move on.

Is this further evidence that elisa lam

was effected and influenced

by a dark entity or spiritual being?

From this first part of our investigation

in the cecil hotel, we can definitely verify

that all of us were effected by unseen forces.

It was hard to be in there and investigate.

All of us were constantly arguing with each other,

beating each other down, just irritated.

Everybody's irritated with everybody.

Aaron wanted to body slam us,

I was getting on his ass about everything.

Billy's coming in there getting irritable.

Just it's not a good environment.

So you got to understand, you go in there

and you're asking for demons

to do something, that's not how they work.

That's us... Just that's our instinct.

That's our investigative instinct.

There's sirens down here every second,

every 30 seconds, there's police sirens,

just something's going on, a shooting, a murder, whatever.

It's just bad, bad, bad.

And it's fueling this build... Look at this,

look at that building.

So the evil that is in this building,

it's staying in this building.

When you walk into here, it's on you already.

It's so psychological. The demons are in there.

They're messing with your mind. That's how they work.

We are getting ready to do the second part

of our investigation here at the cecil hotel.

During our first part,

we focused solely on the mysterious death of elisa lam.

Now it is time

to unlock the doors of all the other floors

that we never went on to really learn the details

of all the other countless murders,

suicides, and hauntings.

The cecil hotel was built in 1924.

With its lavish marble lobby,

it was a destination for travelers from across the globe.

But just five years after its inception,

the united states sank into the great depression,

sending the cecil and the surrounding area

into a downward spiral,

plunging the hotel into darkness.

Over its eight decades in existence,

this structure has seen unthinkable tragedy.

There has been an astonishing 18 known deaths here.

Even the black dahlia was seen at the cecil hotel bar

just three days prior to her gruesome death.

The cecil was home to serial killer richard ramirez

during much of his horrific killing spree.

And jack unterweger, a serial killer from austria.

Jack unterweger preyed on prostitutes,

some just blocks away from the cecil.

The cecil hotel is cursed.

To prepare us for our upcoming lockdown,

we've invited local historian scott michaels,

In 1954, helen gurnee literally stepped out of this window

and she landed on the marquee directly below.

So helen gurnee, literally her last second alive

was right here.

Just envision her standing at this window

with those last moments.

And I believe those moments can stay in a place like cecil.

They do stay here and they build and they feed and they grow.

And that's the overwhelming feeling that you feel

when you're in here.

So what we're doing while we visit these rooms, aaron,

is taking electromagnetic field measurements

with a trifield meter

and he is also taking polaroid photos and we will mark

down the readings on the physical photo.

712. What is symbolic about room 712?

You know, there's several sinister stories

about this place, obviously.

But I think the most bizarre, sinister story happened

with a man that was staying in this room,

and his name was jack unterweger.

The serial killer.

Yes, yes. Okay.

In 1974, jack unterweger was convicted of murder in austria.

After serving 15 years in prison,

he went on a killing spree

that would eventually take him to the cecil hotel.

Aaron? Yeah?

if we can capture anything in these rooms.

Unterweger stayed here for a couple of months,

supposedly, you know,

probably seriously studying richard ramirez,

but what really was crazy about it

it that while he was here under the illusion

that he was going to be documenting true crime,

he actually committed true crime.

He killed at least three women while he was staying here.

He beat them, strangled them

with their own underwear, and left them there.

And these were unsolved crimes for a while.

Is he still... is he dead?

Yes. He committed suicide in prison.

Are you serious? He hanged himself.

The energy here is extremely heavy.

Hey, aaron, getting some movement here.

Is it possible the spirit of jack has returned

to this very room in search of fresh victims?

This is like "the shining." it really is.

September 1944, dorothy purcell was sharing a room

at the cecil hotel with her boyfriend,

shoe salesman ben levine.

Purcell, apparently unaware she was pregnant, went into labor.

She later testified she did not want

to disrupt the sleeping levine, so she gave birth

in the bathroom.

Believing the child was dead,

she threw it out the window.

She was arrested and charged

with the murder of the baby, but was found...

Threw her baby out the window?

Yeah. Yeah. Oh, my god.

She ended up being declared temporarily insane.

And she wasn't charged with the murder.

They... they didn't...

Temporarily insane? Yeah.

So that must have... That must have indicated

that her behavior was completely awol...

Right. ...When she was in this building.

Why was she feeling that way when she was in the hotel?

It's weird that somebody in this room went temporarily insane,

threw her newborn baby out the window, killed the baby,

and directly across from that room later

would be one of america's most evil,

vicious serial killers to ever walk the face of this earth,

richard ramirez. This guy was doing devil worshipping here.

Was richard ramirez drawn to the same energy

that many believe drove people insane in this hotel

to do very bad things to others and themselves?

And many people speculate that elisa lam was also

being influenced by the energy or entities of this building.

Does something here affect those, infect those,

to do the ultimate acts of the devil?

In the middle of our investigation,

I get a call from my friend scott gruenwald, he's downstairs

and wants to share a troubling experience

he had at the cecil.

Some places, they just get in ya, you know,

and they just get in and they fester in you, you know?

What happened here, dude?

The minute we came through these doors,

about 20 feet in, you can feel it's heavy.

We were in the elevator.

We were getting ready to go down.

And I was with scott, and we were hearing, like,

voices coming in and out.

Scott was acting weird for him.

How was he acting? Dark?

Dark, like, well, just like really grumpy.

And, like, I was trying to talk to him

and we were going to go to dinner later

and I was like, "well, I'll come and get you later."

and he was just like, went in his room

and he didn't say anything.

I don't even remember till she reminded me

that I acted weird, my face looked different.

I just kind of turned around and walked away from...

Leaving her in a dangerous place, possibly, I don't know.

And just going in my room and passing out.

I was petrified. And so I got up in the middle

of the night to go get him up.

He did not answer. I mean, nothing.

I didn't hear from him until the next day.

And I was like, I had to beat on the door

to get him to wake up. And that's not like him, huh?

No. Very few places, very, very few places

have made me feel that way.

And this is definitely one of them.

It's a serious feeling of dread more than the feeling of dread.

It's terrifying.

As we venture deeper into these cold

and lonely halls, I can't help

but think how the list of deaths here seems endless.

In 1962, there was a woman named pauline otton,

I believe was her name, and she jumped

from her window somewhere on this floor

and actually landed on a man walking by.

I know, and killed him. Killed him.

Okay, let's move on.

What are we looking for, 1016?

1016. That's going to be down?

This is like let's make a demonic deal.

This is... this is a bad... What's behind this door?

Scott, what happened in this room?

On June 4th, 1964,

a beloved los angeles personality,

her name was... they called her pigeon goldie.

And people loved her. She was in pershing square,

just a couple of blocks from here, and she would feed

the pigeons, thus the nickname.

So on this June 4th, in 1964,

the maid came in here and found her.

She'd been raped and beaten and stabbed to death in this room.

It happened in this room?

Yeah, we're standing where it happened.

I mean, the walls were probably covered

with the amount of violence

and the terrible vibrations of her,

the torturously last moments of her life in this room.

This is it.

Imagine that scene.

The violence, the evil from that whole event

happened in this small little room.

All of a sudden, I notice scott's demeanor

begin to change.

What's wrong? It's just really overwhelming,

I don't usually, you know, I've been to places

where terrible things have happened before,

but we're in such a tiny room.

And what happened was so awful and so horrific.

It just... you can't not feel it.

I just felt something next to me,

and when I came over here, you'll see it...

It's almost like if there was someone,

a spirit in here, it's just walking around us.

The effect this place has on people is inconceivable.

I mean, just going from room to room, floor to floor,

listening to this, you're hearing something,

details about just some kind of horror script,

extreme horror script,

but all this is real, and every step you take,

every door you open is a new story that's true.

We're in los angeles, and we were here once before

and we investigated the black dahlia house.

And during that time we invited our friend,

psychic medium, patti negri.

And patti has really shown us some true visions

that really match up to our equipment.

So she's here and she just walked in the lobby.

She's already feeling the energy of it.

patti feels compelled to move to the 14th floor.

She's immediately drawn to room 1431,

where in 1938, a man named roy thompson jumped to his death.

that was just influencing her to open the window

Overwhelmed by the energy in this room,

patti is forced to leave.

You know, earlier you said that the spirits here, the entities,

the demons or whatever, want to get in you,

confuse you. It does do that to people.

It drives them insane, to want to kill themselves.

First thing you did is you went in that room

and opened the door and you start leaning out.

This place is strong, and we all got to be careful.

Next, patti leads us down to the 10th floor

and directly to room 1016.

that we're trying to figure out that we don't understand.

where there's this dark spot on the floor.

Yeah. That does not look like a shadow to me.

It just looks like a black...

It almost looks like a stain. Like a black stain.

It's not... where you would see a figure or a formation.

It's like everybody that is

in our crew has a mask on.

And that's why we are so puzzled by this,

because we know that nobody was over there.

Alright, part two of our cecil hotel investigation.

This is our last night. This is our last lockdown.

It's been an incredible week.

We have experienced a lot. We've seen a lot.

We've captured a lot. And we're still built up

and absorbing all the energy from all these days.

Really cool to have such an extended amount of time

to investigate one of the scariest places

I've ever been in my entire life.

So tonight, jay, we have not been down in the basement.

once occupied by another serial killer.

This place looks massive, a lot of different hallways,

different places shooting off all over.

Like I said, none of us have ever been down here.

So we have no idea what we're getting into.

I'm gonna grab my other camera to set up another x cam.

Is there somebody down here?

Come down the hallway, jack unterweger.

I heard that you checked in here in 1991.

You killed three sex workers.

You strangled them with their own bra.

You were a fan of richard ramirez,

that's why you came to this hotel to kill just like he did.

And it said jack.

Okay, this is the hallway on the 10th floor,

that's room 1016,

that's the room where the lady that was known

as the pigeon lady, her real name, goldie osgood,

that's where she was brutally raped and murdered

and found by a maid, stabbed to death.

Goldie, can you hear me?

There's cold air.

It's hot as hell.

It is hot and humid in here, I'm sweaty.

Goldie, is it okay if I come in?

Goldie, my name's billy.

I was hoping maybe we could talk.

Alright, so I don't know, I just thought of this,

there's so much stuff going up and down these hallways

all the time, that it's just a mixture of energies

and spirits walking around.

So what I've done is I've placed

these two mirrors sitting across from each other.

Giving that infinity look, you know, when you go in

and you look in the mirror, there's a mirror behind you.

And it does that tunnel? Well, they say spirits

can come through or leave through that hallway effect.

So what I've done is just set up a little experiment

where maybe these spirits will come in and out.

I have a camera shooting in the mirrors.

And I have a wide camera shooting from afar.

So if something shows up in this mirror,

it could be a spirit coming out of there.

This is a room where a serial killer stayed.

You want to shut that door, jack?

I'm hearing noises out in the hallway.

As we attempt to make contact with jack unterweger,

we hear a sound from down the hall.

it's a one-of-a-kind device made specifically for me

by gary galka, and it integrates a sb7

spirit box with several components.

It actually records the spirit box voices in real time.

And then I can stop it.

I can rewind it 10 seconds, I can adjust the playback speed,

and I can also put a low pass filter on it.

We're going to give this a try.

In the basement, jay walks around

with a vintage reel-to-reel recorder,

trying to capture any audio of spirits.

We know the 14th floor is probably one of

the scariest floors here.

This was ramirez's room.

along with other people who have come here.

This whole floor is so scary.

The window's open right now.

As aaron walks in, he notices that the window is open.

We were just in here with patti, who was really scaring me

as she was trying to open the same window

where a man jumped out and committed suicide.

Patti then closed this window.

I have just witnessed

astonishing poltergeist activity.

I am absolutely stunned, terrified, and excited

that I capture the faucet turn on in this sink

just seconds after I captured a spirit saying "hello,"

followed by a noise in that corner where you can see

that the water was off.

On the 10th floor, billy uses the polterpod in room 1016

to try to contact goldie,

who we believe was just seen going to her hat.

Hello! I heard you, I heard you.

Hello!

Oh, that was crazy.

Goldie, I just heard you say hello.

Was that you?

That was incredible. Like the second I turned this on,

it said hello in a woman's voice.

Goldie, if that's you, can you say "goldie"

so I know it's you?

Billy keeps asking questions,

but receives no responses

until he goes into the bathroom.

This is the bathroom that's attached to goldie's room.

The killer may have came into this bathroom

to wash the blood off of his hands

after he took goldie's life.

Is that true?

Goldie?

If this is goldie that just spoke,

what is she trying to say?

Goldie?

As billy sets the polterpod on the shelf

next to the dodgers hat where he earlier

captured the light anomaly shooting into it.

Watch now what happens as another anomaly shoots down,

but this time into the very device

that we believe her voice was just coming through.

We have to state this is truly remarkable evidence.

Two different light anomalies shooting straight down

into two different items connected to goldie.

Back on the 14th floor, aaron's mirror experiment

captures something very compelling.

Watch closely as a wispy mist-like anomaly

appears to come out of the mirror.

Was that a scream?

Aaron hears a female scream,

and as he searches for where it came from,

he asks if she was one of the hotel's countless suicides.

Why did that just show up like that

right when I asked that?

I want to know if someone pushed you or you did it yourself,

and I think someone pushed you. Am I right?

to the fire escape, it said "arrived."

Is this spirit telling aaron

after the water faucet turned on by itself.

I can't believe what I just captured.

Listen as this intelligent voice responds to me

As I leave the room, I also leave the apf processor

if jack or any other spirits will continue to talk.

Here is what we capture.

We now hear a spirit say, "I'm in my room, pound the door."

now, listen, as the same exact voice comes through

and says something else that's unintelligible.

Back on the 10th floor, billy continues trying

to contact goldie, who was murdered in this room,

when something truly terrifying occurs.

Where's goldie?

What the?!

At the same time that this loud, unexplained bang happens,

billy receives the word "evil" on his paranormal puck 2 device.

Where's goldie?

What the?!

What the?!

I don't know what the that was,

but that door jarred hard.

I'm literally shaking right now.

One of these doors in the hallway just now,

I don't know which one.

I was hoping that my x cam here captured that.

Aaron joins me on the 7th floor

to take polaroid photos in jack's room,

and as he snaps a picture,

we both hear an unexplained blood-curdling scream.

What was that?!

Oh, my god, aaron! What was that?!

Something's down there with you, aaron.

What was that?! Oh, my god, aaron!

We cannot confirm 100% that this scream is paranormal.

However, after checking billy and jay's cameras

and all our other x cameras' audio

covering all the other floors,

this scream cannot be heard, further eliminating

the possibility that it came from outside or the ground area.

After analyzing all of our incredible evidence here

at the cecil hotel,

I feel as though serial killer jack unterweger

made the strongest direct contact

through poltergeist activity.

Oh, my god!

The water turned on!

Stating his name on the apf processor.

I'm jack.

And what we believe to be his evil spirit,

also scaring the other guys on their floors.

What the... because that's also

where he is stating that his spirit is.

Jack. That's twice.

The cecil hotel has proven to be one of the most

haunted places we have ever investigated.
