something really, really good while you're at it.
On your tickets, it says that a dollar has been donated to the Red Cross.

And that is something that we were fortunate enough
to get involved in at the very beginning of the Blown Away tour.
So that means for every single person, in every single seat,
in every single, beautiful city we go to
that represents a dollar that's going to the Red Cross.
So give yourselves a giant hand for that one.
And that is what it's all about. We love what we do,
and we know how fortunate we are to be able to be up on this stage,
and play music, and sing music and do what we love, do our passion,
but, it feels awful good, when you can do some good stuff along the way.
And that goes the same for music, for the songs that we play and sing.
We have so much fun rocking out.
But, every once in a while, you either write a song, or come across a song that means so much
and these next two are a perfect example of songs that mean so much to me.
So, I hope you guys can maybe just love them as much as I do.

It's hard to pin down an exact time
that we really started working on this tour,
because we've been talking about it for a long time.
As soon as, you know, I started working on the Blown Away album
that's when we kind of all started getting fun ideas,
specifically for things we'd like to see in the tour.
-Oh, so this, this... -This will be ours and the lift is already there for you.
So you just step right into it and it takes you down.
I definitely wanted the Blown Away tour
to be bigger and better than the Play On tour.
I felt like we set the bar really high with that one, you know.
We had so much fun. With each one we all as a team learned.
And just want to take that and build off of that.
RAJ KAPOOR: Step one always starts with the music.
We'll start with asking her opinion
about what songs she actually wants to cover.
Usually I'll do a preliminary set list based on that conversation,
send it to Carrie and then she'll come back and say,
"Oh, maybe I don't feel like doing this show" or "You left this song out".
And then that becomes our development process.
So, for Sweet Emotion you can still stay there.
And then, when as soon as it kicks into the first verse, you'll get off.
And this is when the band risers are tracking across the stage.
You know we wanted the band to start learning the songs.
So they've had their hands on it for quite some time.
And they've been working on it, on their own.
I just wanted them to hear it and you know, just get it in there,
'cause these are the songs we're gonna be playing later.
Liquid nitrogen and CO2 mixed together launched up in that theater.
It moves like 45,000 cubic feet of air in there. But it looks awesome.
You know, you say, "Blown Away" and it already starts visuals in your mind.
So that influences special effects,
and you know, this kind of very loose story
where we pay a little bit of homage to The Wizard of Oz.
It starts with this, you know, girl from Oklahoma
and kind of her adventures and how she translates and transitions
and brings all these different aspects
that somewhat tie back to The Wizard of Oz, with, you know. Her...
Carrie loves dogs. So you know, her dog has a starring part in a couple of videos.
We have a little homage to the Emerald City with another song.
The color of the opening of The Good Girl
is kind of like Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
So there's all these references that you may not even get
but we've kind of interwoven them throughout the story.
We've done rehearsals in Atlanta.
Now, we're parked in Hampshire for the first day.
We had a week of rehearsal in Nashville.
And then we had a week in Atlanta
and then we had close to a week in Manchester.
So I guess a solid month of rehearsals.
This is the first test flight of our big stage platform.
I think its going pretty well so far.
I do love the moment when the stage...the B stage, like, lifts up.
I feel like in the entire act before that happens,
I... It's like I have this secret. I know this is coming.
It's like she basically flies from the back of the room to the front of the room.
So even the people at the back of the house at one point have the best seats.
I got to sit out in the audience
you know, the day before, the real show day,
first show day and watch everything.
If I can see it and I see that there's this cool thing happening behind,
you know, that helps me.
Then I can place myself there
and kind of run through everything and just see it all for myself.
And know what's going on back there.
Where the band risers are coming and going.
And what's on the screens and all the stuff that's happening.
It's important, plus it's fun.
It's fun to just go out and sit.
And I wanna see the show too.
I think this show, I think this set is amazing.
With the band and I had done, this was the best flow for us.
It's just a great flow. It's a great high energy show.
The production's just way over the top so that's really cool.
I'd like to say that this tour
you're like, you're not coming to see a concert.
You're coming to see an event, a performance.
It's...It's a movie that's come to life, you know.
There are wardrobe changes.
There's a lot of screen content like, helping to tell the story.
There's a lot of, you know... When I am changing
my clothes like a mad woman underneath the stage
There's things that are going on for the crowd
that are filling in holes and completing the story.
And just all really flows really nicely.
Its not just a concert, you know.
It's more fun to put together something like this and make it an event.
I think me changing my wardrobe has kind of become a thing.
With the CMA Awards and all the stuff that I have done over the years,
and it's kind of become a thing for me.
You know, it all goes together.
When you have your two beauty fan shots,
I'm going to do just the hair going up
as you're walking away, if you want to flip the dress over the fan ever,
if you just remember that, that'll be cool too 'cause it will lift it
as you're just walking from side to side.
-That was great. Yeah. -That'll happen how I...
When I like really learn the outfit.
Every night, since I have different looks for different acts of the show,
at some point, I have to decide what I'm wearing.
Maybe we can try this out on stage tonight. Just to see how it finally...
Okay, yeah, I haven't tried this one yet, have I?
So, we put together a book
and I have to try everything on from head to toe.
Earrings, you know accessories, shoes, all of it.
And we take pictures and make it into a book.
And I... Every night before the show, mark what I want to wear for the evening.
There's four acts plus an encore so five different outfits.
This is for when the band members like, aren't doing very well.
I just give them a little quick back hand.
And I have three options for each act.
So 15 outfits in total.
But a lot of the looks can be kind of interchangeable.
And I can switch up little things about them.
Just depending on how I'm feeling.
Love it. Love it.
There's me and two other people that are helping me get dressed.
Underneath that stage, it's pretty chaotic, under there.
You have to figure out what you're doing,
what your doing everything in. It's a little dance we do, down there.
That outfit I change into is probably my most complicated,
out of the four outfits so...
So something has to happen when I'm changing my clothes.
And we did film some extra screen content for that.
KAPOOR: I'd kind of developed that concept for her.
Of how we would make... Almost like a Broadway show.
Or a very theatrical show
where's there's this progression of looks or feels
that encompass what the songs are.
It's such a part of what I do. It's such a big part of what I do.
It matters to me.
We spend a little extra time doing some things to help tell the story better.
I really want people to come to the Blown Away Tour
and walk away, thinking,
"All right. What just happened? I can't wait to see that show again."
This is our first night, our kick off night of the Blown Away tour.
We've here in Manchester, New Hampshire.
We've been here for the past several days, rehearsing.
But now, it's crunch time.
I think we're ready. We're ready.
I just... Yeah, I'm a little nervous.
There's so many intricate moving parts to the stage.
And then there's lifts and there's, you know, tornado.
And there's just all this stuff that's happening.
The more stuff that you have, the more stuff can go wrong.
So many cues that like have to be spot on all the time.
-So we're gonna put them up on the track. -Okay.
So as you're coming in, they'll fire out all four sides of you. Oh, I'm sorry.
(ALL LAUGHING)
That's 3D. It's 3D folks, coming at you!

Program. Get the programs here. Opening night of the tour program.
