[music intensifies]

[music becomes more frenzied]

[radio announcer] And again, the fans go berserk.

[crowd cheering]

Elston Howard pinch-hits for...

[thunder rumbles]

One man on base.

Here it comes.

Howard raps a home run in the right-field stands

for two runs.

[crowd cheering]

[thunder rumbles]

Bill Virdon, leadoff batter for the Bucs,

steals second, and goes on to...

[thunder rumbles]

...Yogi Berra's throw goes into center field.

Then Dick Groat, just recovered

from a fractured wrist,

raps a double into right field...

[thunder rumbles]

[crowd cheering]

[wind blowing]

[thunder rumbling]

[screams]

[moaning]

After Podres drives Wills home,

it's Dick Donovan hurling for the Sox.

Charlie Neal doubles to send Podres

and Gilliam across the plate.

[crowd cheering]

Donovan next faces Wally Moon,

and the Los Angeles fielder

slams his first homer of the Series

into the stands.

[crowd cheering]

Moon's four-bagger makes the score eight to nothing

going into the bottom of the fourth.

...for the loyal Chicagoans.

[tires screech]

...but hope revives, as the Sox counter-attack.

Mighty Ted Kluszewski...

[radio continues indistinctly]

[grunting]

[gunshots]

[screaming]

[siren wailing]

[gunshots]

[sirens wailing]

[grunts]

[panting]

[horn honking]

[motors rumbling]
