In the shadow of the everlasting and mysterious history,

there was an ancient mysterious department

which always existed no matter how the regimes changed.

It explored

all the unresolved mysterious events in the world.

[The Department of Nightwalkers]

This organization that remained aloof from the world

was called

Department of Nightwalkers.

A bunch of losers!

Why haven't they arrived yet?

Sorry that I am late.

I want you to ensure the safety of the person inside.

Deputy Director Chen.

His Highness's dancer suddenly looked like she's possessed by demons.

Please.

Exorcism Pillar Formation!

Is it interesting to you?

It is.

Let there come light.

Let there come wind.

Let there come wine.

Let there come you.

If you go on playing like this,

you will die.

So what?

Celestial Shield!

Your Highness, watch out!

What did you do to her?

People's heart is full of greed, anger and obsession.

She just took the consequences.

What is this?

Seize him!

The Big Explosion

[The Department of Nightwalkers]

[Books of Strange Stones]

How is it going with the case in the Prince's Mansion?

I'm still working on it.

Then why are you loafing on the job here?

I recommended you to be the deputy director

hoping that you could make others see your performance.

But you killed the prince's favorite dancer

and offended him.

How am I supposed to let you take my place?

Don't worry.

You can still be in office for another two years.

You…Come back!

Come back here!

Follow me.

His Majesty sent an inspector to supervise us. You need to behave yourself.

Don't offend her.

Your Highness Princess Fufeng.

Get off.

That position is not for you to sit on.

I am the princess.

Why can't I sit on your chair?

You Department of Nightwalkers has

so many weird stuff.

Put it down.

Why? Do you want it, too?

Here you are.

Chen Ling! Stop!

It's a waste of talent for you to stay in this department.

I have a better position for you.

My husband.

Think about it.

You're ridiculous.

Your Highness. I apologize for his behavior.

He's still an untamed horse. I like it.

His Majesty said that you will report to me in the future.

You need to tell me beforehand wherever you go.

Where are you going now?

Investigate a case.

Chen Ling.

Protect Her Highness and watch out.

My master.

The flower seed has been planted in the Prince's Mansion.

Okay, let's start our plan inside the Imperial City this time.

What do your Department of Nightwalkers do?

Deal with all the spiritual and unsolved mysteries in the world.

Watch out!

Sir.

Xiaosi.

Sir!

How is it going? Do you have any clues?

We have tested it.

This stone can distort people's five senses

so as to let them have illusions like the host wants.

There is no record of this stone in our previous archives.

It seems that we have to think about another way to find out.

Who are you? Don't touch it or you'll pay for the damage!

We spent our budget for six months to complete it.

You made this?

How much money did it cost? I'll pay for it.

Just make a few more of this.

She's the new inspector. Princess Fufeng, and she's rich.

Your Highness. Look at this!

Is this Chen Ling's weapon?

Yes, this is the Kun Thunder Ring.

It's mine.

Sorry, but the Kun Thunder Ring contains power of lightning in it.

Only Deputy Director Chen can handle the lightning strike.

As long as you give us more funding,

I can tailor a perfect weapon for you.

You should not come here.

Mr. Cao said that

you need to take me wherever you go.

Xiaosi.

What is this place? It's so gloomy.

The dungeon of the Department of Nightwalkers.

What is Chen Ling doing here?

This is a prison dedicated to detaining supernatural prisoners.

There are always some people who know more because they live for a long time.

Maybe we can get some clues from them.

Come out.

Are you talking to this tree?

Young lady, this is a gift for you.

It's really talking!

Why did you come to bother me?

Do you know

what this stone is?

The seduction of lust. The temptation of dreams.

It's called the Stone of Lure.

I want to find the owner of this stone.

You need to go to the City of Wuxiang.

Unfortunately, you guys can't go inside.

Only I can get you inside the city.

I don't believe you.

All the lands in this country belong to the emperor.

I don't believe there is a place that I can't go in.

Of course there is. The City of Wuxiang is a land without a ruler.

Sir.

The Taoist of Woods is a felon of our department.

Mr. Cao will punish you if you get him out of the dungeon.

I know what I am doing. He can't escape.

Why didn't we see such a shield

when we came in?

Because the shield in this cell

only targets at Taoist of Woods.

Give me your hand.

Sir, you undid the spell!

I know you have doubts in your heart.

You'll find the answer in the City of Wuxiang.

Isn't this the Guangning Gate in the city?

Yes, and no.

With the copper nails, the dark night changes into daybreak!

Remember.

After you enter the city, don't tell anyone that you came in with me.

Otherwise, you might get into trouble and will never get out of here alive.

[City of Wuxiang]

So, this is City of Wuxiang.

Yes.

It means the city of non-existence which also contains all existences.

All the strange and alien beings are welcome here.

How do you know this place?

This is my hometown.

Your hometown?

But they look different from you.

Birds of the same feather tend to flock together.

I want all these.

There are so many strange people here.

Let's go.

What is this?

Light of Guidance.

Where is Taoist of Woods?

He was still here a while ago.

It's so fun here. Let's take a look.

Didn't you say you have a way to deal with him and he can't run away?

Let's go over there.

Come upstairs!

Look at that!

Come here, come on!

This one is fun.

Welcome! Come in and take a look.

Yes. Look at me.

Like this?

That's right. Ok!

Get your picture at the back.

It looks lovely.

You are sleeping, just like I expected.

This time you can't stop me anymore.

What is this?

Lady.

Do you want to buy some rouge or lipstick? They're incredibly beautiful.

This color suits you.

The guy you love will love it.

I didn't bring any money. Buy it for me.

We don't accept silver here.

You can only trade something for it.

Do you want to make the trade?

I…

She is a macho woman.

She never applies lipsticks.

We have a beauty product of secret formula

that can make you look young forever

and win men's heart.

But if you use it too often, you will be indulged in illusions, too.

So don't overuse it.

I also have one here.

Isn't this

Dog Dragon's brother's stuff?

Dog Dragon?

You stole from people and cheated on gambling tables!

I'll kill you!

The whole street is under my protection.

Don't think you can do anything without punishment

just because my elder brother is away!

You bastard!

Let's go. There's nothing to see. Let's get out of here.

Dog Dagon.

Have you seen this?

This is my brother's Ring of Loyalty.

Does he have loyalty?

He is just a suspect that I want to arrest.

How dare you!

Let me.

So you are both dogs.

Stop!

Who dares to come to the City of Wuxiang to make troubles?

I am Chen Ling from the Department of Nightwalkers of Dachen.

I came to arrest a suspect.

What Dachen?

Even if it is Han, Tang, Song or Yuan dynasty,

we never deal with your authority out there.

This city is a land of no rulers.

People in Wuxiang

never have contact with other races.

There is no such person as a "suspect".

So people from a land without a ruler

can kill other creatures at will?

We saw with our own eyes that a person from Wuxiang

made troubles and killed people in the Prince's Mansion.

What evidence do you have?

This is a land without rulers.

But it's not a land beyond laws.

If the perpetrator was really someone from Wuxiang,

I will punish him or her severely.

Where's Dog Lianhuan?

Deputy Lord.

My elder brother hasn't been back for six months.

Since so, the person you are looking for is not here.

And the place is surely not somewhere you should come.

Happy Monkey.

See the visitors out.

Young lady, let me give you a ride.

Let's go!

You two are not welcome here.

Get out of here.

But Taoist of Woods is still inside the city.

Taoist of Woods.

He didn't escape. I can't believe it.

Where have you been?

I met with an old friend.

Even if you are gone,

I can find you too.

So this thing can really track people?

I want one too.

Your Highness.

You can't act so recklessly anymore.

You released a felon without permission.

If it weren't for Her Highness,

you would have been dismissed and investigated by now.

What is the City of Wuxiang like?

Oh no.

Something happened in the Prince's Mansion.

Go help them!

Go, go, go.

Brother, are you Ok?

What is this?

I don't know either.

Maybe it's also related to the Wuxiang people.

Father.

It's okay. It's just a minor injury.

I'll survive.

What happened?

The man with a dog head showed up again.

He took Taoist of Woods with him and hurt Mr. Cao.

Don't rush into doing anything.

That monster is very powerful. Everyone needs to be alert.

If it weren't for the answer of the Stone of Lure,

Chen Ling wouldn't have come to me

and destroyed the cell shield for me.

But this is what you Wuxiang people owed me.

Did you get the heart of the Flower of Solar Disc?

Remember your promise.

If you help me realize rejuvenation of my people,

I

will help you get revenge.

We just wait when the sixth day of the fifth lunar month comes

and the Flower of Solar Disc blossoms.

Come in.

This is the Royal Secret Library.

Only royalties are allowed to come in.

The library house history records of the past dynasties.

Let's split up to look. Maybe there is some clue about the weird flower marks.

Why is there a secret chamber?

I've never seen it before.

On the sixth day of the fifth lunar month of the Hongping year,

some strange flowers were all over Yunyin village in the suburbs of the capital.

The villagers all infected with the flower poison

and their wounds were shaped like a flower.

The poisoned person would become maniac, crazy,

bloodthirsty and violent.

This flower was also called

Flower of Solar Disc.

The Department of Nightwalkers imprisoned the sorcerer who planted the flowers.

He was knows as Taoist of Woods.

The seed of the flower was taken away by the lord of City of Wuxiang.

The only one survived in the village was an orphan rescued by the department director.

He named the boy

Chen Ling.

Chen Ling, are you OK?

Taoist of Woods was the one who poisoned them.

He lied to all of us.

I will make the people of the City of Wuxiang

pay the debts of blood with their blood!

This time it'll be a dangerous mission.

What we have to face

is something that is not recorded in the previous records.

Chen Ling.

Why didn't you include me in the night raid plan?

You are a princess.

I'm also a member of the department!

We even drank together.

We once shared wine

so we should also share good and back luck.

Anyway, I know how to get there.

At the worst, I'll go there alone!

Come back.

Take it.

Don't be other's burden.

Weapon always aim at strangers.

Got it. You will never be my stranger.

Is this for me?

Then why wasn't I included in the plan?

Do you have to ask? Even if you were not in the plan,

we know you will only follow Mr. Chen.

Brother, good wine is for people to taste and appreciate.

But your way of drinking is like watering a horse.

I want to find my brother.

Don't make troubles out of the city.

But my brother's Ring of Loyalty was removed.

There is a rule in the City of Wuxiang.

For one meritorious service, that person will get a ring.

Your brother had many Rings of loyalty all over his body.

He is a man with illustrious meritorious services and strong power.

No one can beat him.

But what if they played it dirty?

That person couldn't even beat me that day

but he had one of my brother's rings.

He must use some underhand means.

You are the boy my lord

rescued in Yunyin Village 20 years ago?

Don't try to distort the fact.

I was rescued by the director of the Department of Nightwalkers.

You guys planted the Flowers of Solar Disc

and killed everyone in Yunyin Village.

We distort the fact?

The Lightning and Thunder of Kun inside your body is left by our lord back then.

If it weren't for saving your life,

she wouldn't lose most of her energy

and can never go out of the City of Wuxiang.

How am I supposed to believe in your words?

At that time, the lord of the city took the flower seed with her.

Now in the Imperial City,

the flower appeared again.

That's impossible!

She already

took away the heart of the flower with her.

The Flower of Solar Disc can never grow again.

And she's in a dormancy now.

How can she ever get out of the city?

Ask her to come out.

The lord just woke up.

What is this place?

Why is there thunder?

This is the Hall of Wuxiang,

the place where our lord sleeps.

It is also the place where the see of the flower is sealed.

Daji.

The heart of the flower is gone.

Taoist of Woods was once here.

You have my Lightning and Thunder of Kun in your body.

You're the boy I saved.

And only you

can open the shield that detains Taoist of Woods.

Why did

you let him out of prison?

I want to know

what happened twenty years ago.

Twenty years ago, Taoist of Woods came on a flying boat.

The City of Wuxiang is always a place to take spiritual and supernatural beings in.

So we took him in.

He found the long-missing flying boat in Yunyin Village.

He uses the energy of the flying boat to activate a creature of his kind.

The Flower of Solar Disc.

It bloomed in the sixth day of the fifth solar month.

The flower's poison made the villagers bloodthirsty and gone demented.

The Emperor of Dachen

ordered the Department of Nightwalkers to slaughter all the villagers who were poisoned and mutated.

Mom!

Honey, don't cry.

You need to stay alive.

Mom!

Mom!

Mom!

I arrived just in time to save you with Lightning and Thunder of Kun.

I set up a shield to imprison Taoist of Woods.

The lightning and thunder inside your body

is the key to open the Shield.

That was why Cao Qianhu

wanted to have you in the Department of Nightwalkers.

No, this is impossible.

My father would never give such a cruel order!

What about Taoist of Woods?

I know I am going to die. My only last wish

is to let the Flower of Solar Disc reproduce.

The universe gives human beings everything but

human being never repays anything.

They are such an inferior and shallow race.

What gives them the right to decide our fate?

This is so ridiculous!

It seems that

The disaster of 20 years ago will happen again.

You can't go.

Your energy has been exhausted continuously.

You can't get out of the city.

But once the balance with the human race is broken,

the City of Wuxiang will not be spared.

Chen Ling.

You have to stop the flower from reproducing.

Otherwise, more creatures will die.

Why should I save them?

Why didn't anyone save my parents back then?

Why would the ones who I regarded as my enemy save me

while the ones I protected with my life

betray me?

It's ridiculous.

Chen Ling !Chen Ling!

Your royalties have always been cold-blooded.

Stop your hypocrisy.

I'm not…

Chen Ling.

The sixth day of the fifth lunar month is around the corner.

Why don't you activate the Flying Boat

to give life to the Flower of Solar Disc?

You can never trust people who are not of your race.

The Emperor of Dachen invaded and killed my tribe.

I can give up everything to destroy Dachen dynasty's reign.

If you want me to trust you,

you must become the same race like me.

Let me stay in your body.

But your strength is too weak.

Unless,

to revive the Jin people,

we are willing to sacrifice.

Remember what you promised.

Let our race live and thrive.

I promise you.

You will be connected with the heart of the Flower of Solar Disc.

If it lives, you will live. If it dies, you will, too.

Ring of Loyalty.

Ring of Loyalty.

Dog Lianhuan!

There is no need for the Department of Nightwalkers to exist anymore.

The sixth day of the fifth lunar month is around the corner.

No one can stop me anymore!

No one!

Mother, what are those?

Where?

Those. Look!

I have no idea.

The crimson clouds are all over the sky.

It's so pretty. This is a good sign.

An auspicious sign.

It looks so beautiful. This is an auspicious sign.

Father.

Why did you hide what happened

in Yunyin Village from me?

I just didn't want you to shoulder so much burden.

Over the years

the things we have done

and the people we have been protecting.

Are they really worth it?

People have different standpoints

so they made different choices.

Just like when I am still at the post of Department of Nightwalkers,

I will discipline you guys.

The catastrophe 20 years ago will happen again outside the city.

There is a protective shield in the Imperial City.

So it will survive the disaster.

I know you loathe these things.

Now you can still make a choice

to stay away from it.

This is an amulet praying for safety on our grassland.

I want you to have it.

I visited the grassland when I was younger. It was beautiful.

You may be able to live another life.

Her Highness will also love the grassland.

The grassland…

[The Department of Nightwalkers]

Fufeng!

Let go of him!

Xiaosi.

Lianhuan, why is it you?

I want to let the crimson clouds cover the whole Imperial City.

Your emperor is doomed to die!

You finally wake up.

Where am I?

The City of Wuxiang.

Where is Xiaosi?

Where is he?

Where are they?

Where are they?

They are all dead.

It's all your brother's fault.

I want him to pay with his life!

It was definitely not my brother!

I won't allow you to accuse him!

I saw it with my own eyes that he killed those people.

Why are you still defending him?

I want him to pay with his life!

If it was really my brother who did it,

I will kill him myself.

It won't be you to do it.

I'm going to kill him!

Stop!

I want to see the lord of the city.

Stop them!

Madam.

I want to stop this.

Have you thought carefully about it?

For some certain mission,

someone has to do it

at any cost.

There is still Lightning and Thunder of Kun remained in your body.

But if you want to inspire its power completely,

we also need to strengthen and transform your body.

You may no longer be the same old you again.

From now on your race will never consider you as one of them.

If this is the right thing to do,

I am willing to do it.

I

am the emperor.

For the interests of the majority,

I have no other option.

[City of Wuxiang]

I'll go with you.

The City of Wuxiang will account for

what my brother did in the future.

Daji said that the Taoist of Woods' Flying Boat

is underground in Yunyin Village.

I'll deal with my brother.

This is the place where the Flower of Solar Disc is planted.

The flower's poison is already spreading.

We need to find the heart of the flower soon.

Tell me.

Why would you do that?

Why would you do that?

You…

Go stop Turger.

I can't control my consciousness any longer.

Kill me now.

No!

I'm going to take you to see the lord of the city. She will save you.

Lianhuan!

Dragon…

Take me home.

Come on, come at me.

Lianhuan.

Bro, can you give me a Ring of Loyalty?

Honor is earned by what you did,

not by snatching from others.

Then I want to be a hero like you.

Lianhuan, Lianhuan!

This is Taoist of Woods' Flying Boat.

The Flower of Solar Disc has been spawned,

But why are there

totems of the Jin People?

During the Tianzheng reign,

The Jin people robbed salt and iron from the City of Bianbian.

My father ordered to kill the whole group of people.

The Flying Boat is activating.

The lord of the city said

we have to destroy the heart of the flower

to stop it from growing.

Stop!

Fufeng, watch out!

Who are you?

No one can destroy it.

You are one of the Jin people?

It's been a long time since any one called me by that name.

But when the Flower of Solar Disc rises,

the entire Dachen dynasty will know the Jin people.

And they will also know

the name of Turger.

You and Taoist of Woods are associates!

We just both benefit from it.

Taoist of Woods!

I am him.

He is me.

We have become one person.

You are a human being.

Why did you help Taoist of Woods?

The Dachen dynasty carried out a genocide against my people.

I will let them pay the debts of blood with their blood!

Taoist of Woods failed the mission.

But I have to complete it this time!

Blow up the heart!

Are you guys okay?

We're fine.

We did it!

The boat stopped.

No one can stop me.

I am connected to the heart of the flower.

We live together

and we'll die together.

Soon the Flying Boat will arrive at the Imperial City.

What is that?

I want the capital to be covered by the crimson clouds.

I want my people to reproduce and thrive.

No one can stop that!

Those standing in the way

shall die!

We City of Wuxiang

doesn't owe you anything anymore.

Chen Ling.

Father!

Why would you do that?

I am Cao Qianhu.

but I am also Turger, the tribe leader of the Jin people.

I have gone undercover in the Department of Nightwalkers for many years

to wait for an opportunity to destroy Dachen.

Only then will our Jin people have the chance to survive.

Father!

I had a son.

If it weren't for Dachen's

genocide,

my son

would have been the same age as you now.

Didn't I tell you to leave?

Why didn't you go?

Why?

Why didn't you get out of here?

Chen Ling!

Chen Ling!

Father.

Are you still you now?

What about you now?

Since I made my choice,

there is no turning back!

You always say I don't have any feminine charm.

Now I have put on lipstick.

How do I look?

You are my husband.

No matter what you have become,

I love you.

Don't forget me.

Fufeng, Fufeng!

Turger.

You are crazy!

Chen Ling, you will die.

You said it once.

For some certain mission, someone has to do it.

No matter which one of you is right and which one is wrong,

the one who can stop more deaths

must be right.

According to the secret record of Department of Nightwalkers,

in the year of Bingyin of Tianqi reign of Dachen dynasty,

at 9 to 11 o'clock in the morning on the sixth day of the fifth lunar month,

crimson clouds were all over the sky.

A flying boat attacked the Imperial City.

Suddenly people heard roars.

It felt as if the sky and the earth were collapsing. It was as dark as night.

Thousands of houses were razed to the ground.

All things in a radius of 7kms were blown up into ashes.

In the history it was called

the Big Explosion at the Tianqi Reign.
