Original subtitles

In ancient days, gods, demons, and mortal men

walked together on this earth.

In time, their realms became separate.

Now all that remains are the legends,

and the keys to their realms.

London, 1381.

Plague and corruption have spread throughout the land,

and the innocent were taken to the darkest of places.

Newgate Prison.

Newgate was said to be like hell on earth.

That's how Tyburn liked it.

Ulrich Tyburn, Governor of Newgate.

For over 100 years,

Tyburn was governor of the infamous prison.

- Bring the girl down.

Using the prisoners as slaves

to carve out passageways deep below the city.

To a place known only to demons.

Here, they built a great temple

where Tyburn brought his followers,

Newgate's most evil prisoners

who had sold him their souls,

becoming slaves to his will.

Using an ancient key, Tyburn opened a doorway,

a doorway to the underworld.

Tyburn wanted to use the armies of evil

to conquer the world, and, to free them,

Tyburn had one final task,

the sacrifice of an innocent.

But Tyburn's impatience had pushed

the people of England too far.

On the day of his final sacrifice,

a crowd gathered at Newgate, demanding justice.

- Tyburn!

- You.

- Tyburn!

I have come for the girl.

- Then you are too late.

Soon, she will be dead.

As will you.

Morgan!

- I see.

Tell me more about this fellow Tyburn.

Do you feel he was to blame

for your attack on Dr. Segalman?

- I never meant to hurt her.

That was a mistake, I was trying to protect her!

- From what?

- The key, she found the key.

- The key to what?

- Tyburn's key, the key is evil.

They will use it to free Tyburn.

She needs my help!

Kryssie.

- Gregory.

- So good to see you. - And you.

This is spectacular.

- My London home.

Come on in and I'll show you around.

Lord Woodrow.

- Good evening.

- This is Dr. Segalman, the eminent archeologist

who discovered the key.

Kristina, this is Lord Woodrow.

- Pleased to meet you. - And you.

I've been hearing some wonderful things about you.

- Lord Woodrow has been very helpful to us

on getting permission for our dig beneath the Old Bailey.

- Have you seen the key?

No, not yet.

- Well, look the party hasn't really livened up yet,

so why don't we take a sneak preview?

Oh!

Oh, sorry.

- Oh, that's all right.

I'm sorry. - No, it's my fault.

Really should watch where I'm going.

Sorry, old boy, you okay?

- Lester! - I'm sorry.

- Kryssie.

- Lester Rossini.

Is Addie around?

- You two know each other?

- Yes, I was engaged to Lester's brother Addison.

- Addie's not here.

Last I heard, he was in Moscow.

- Wheeling and dealing. - As always.

- Since when were you interested in archeology?

- I guess it runs in the blood,

what with Addie so fascinated with old treasures.

- Yes, as I can remember, that seemed to be

all Addison was ever interested in.

- Lord Woodrow, this is Lester.

He's accompanying my daughter Phoebe at the party.

Has she given you the slip, old boy?

- Seems that way.

Actually, I better go find her.

It's good to see you again.

- And you.

- Thank you, Gregory.

Where are you, Lester?

- Lester, darling!

Phoebe.

- Are you going to ask me to dance?

We've hardly spent any time together tonight.

- Well, I-

- Come on, Phoebe, stop pestering the waiter.

I need a dance.

- Waiter?

It's gotta be one of these.

But not that one.

Come on.

- Trouble getting away from Miss Van Husen?

- Well, what can I say, Addie?

One of us had to have the old Rossini animal magnetism.

Anyway, I feel like a cad leading her on.

She's a really nice girl.

- Lester, her daddy's a billionaire.

Money's on the mind of every man she meets.

- It'd be nice to be different for a change,

that's all I'm saying.

- No!

We're here to steal the key.

Her daddy might care, but she won't.

I can't believe you, Lester.

- I guess.

- Look, our timing's screwed.

We better communicate by radio now.

Here, this is yours.

- What, do we have to?

I hate having this thing stuck in my ear.

As if I wasn't uncomfortable enough wearing this tie.

- Would you stop whinging?

Right, what's that look for?

What look?

- Like I just parked my car on your foot.

- It's nothing, it's nothing.

What is it?

- Kryssie's here, she's downstairs.

I know.

I see, you're okay with that.

- That's ancient history.

We're here to do a job.

- If you say so.

Look, I better be going.

I should return Gregory's keys before they're missed.

Right, play it cool.

- Cool as ice.

- Lester. - What?

Your fly's undone.

- Oh, very mature.

- The Key of Khnum.

It's early Egyptian by origin.

The key was brought back here by knights after the Crusades.

- If you look at these hieroglyphics,

you will see the story of the key.

The god Khnum was said to have given up one of his eyes,

which he fashioned into a pendant as a gift for Osiris,

the king of the netherworld.

Using the eye, Khnum tried to spy on Osiris

in a plot to overthrow him,

but Osiris uncovered his plan, and, in his anger,

trapped Khnum inside the pendant.

- But the pendant in these pictures

is different to this-

- Well spotted.

The pendant is described as existing

of two interlocking pieces.

This part of the key, and another part called the eye.

How does all of this lead you

to the dig at the Bailey?

- Well, as you know, the Old Bailey's built

on the site that was formerly Newgate Prison.

Recent findings in Jerusalem suggest

that a prominent figure from the Knights Templar

fled to England with treasures

that may have included this key,

and took residency here

as governor of Newgate.

C t .

- Kryssie?

Kryssie?

- Oh, yeah, sorry.

We should be getting back.

The rest of the guests will surely have arrived by now.

- Of course.

Well, thank you both for the history lesson.

- Lester!

Well, I'll be, you're growing

more like your father every day,

except you're thinner, paler,

How's that brother of yours?

You know, I always liked him.

- Good to see you again, Major.

Now will you excuse me?

I'd like to- - Nonsense.

I'm not leaving you here on your own.

We've got so much to talk about.

They wanted me to be in charge of the operation.

Times of action require men,

not some fatheaded windbag, full of his own importance.

- Oh, yes, sir, real men.

Not only were all the gloves strewn,

but the monkey had to be destroyed.

However, it was only after I became suspicious

that I discovered Lester here

under his father's banana tree, stark naked.

Sir, we're running low on champagne.

May I have the keys for the wine cellar, please?

Oh, yes, of course, I'll just get the key.

- Phoebe, how about that dance?

- Oh, bugger all. - I'm so sorry.

- Oh, sorry, Daddy. - What luck.

- Okay, old boy? - That's okay, Lester.

That's great, thank you, Lester.

Excuse me. - Sorry.

I'll call you tomorrow.

- Make sure you call me.

- Can I borrow your car?

- Lester?

Fine, don't worry, I've got the goods.

On my way out.

- Addie.

- Right, we've got him trapped now.

Send the rest of the team.

Get up there!

- Ow!

Kryssie?

I haven't got time for this.

- Then give me the key.

- You know Julian's got it.

If you want it, come and get it.

- Fine.

- Stop, just stop!

- Stop or they'll shoot.

- Thanks for the workout.

- Drop dead.

- Put the key on the floor and your hands on your head.

- Is that what you want?

This?

- Damn it!

- What happened?

- Slight deviation from the original plan.

- Yeah, I'd say.

What about him?

- He'll wake up with a headache.

- Good show, we've got it.

- Of course.

What do you think?

- Is that it?

I wouldn't buy it.

- Well, I want you to deliver it.

On my own?

- All those years of public school

education, Lester, wasted.

Yes, on your own.

We're talking about a million apiece here.

- I suppose.

- Like I said, all those wasted years.

- What?

Right.

- Still don't understand why they need me to do the drop.

- Take a left at the fifth floor,

third door on the left, they'll meet you there.

The contact name is Francis.

- Francis.

Got it.

- Good luck.

- Mr. Rossini. - Yes?

- You're on your own.

I thought your brother was supposed to join us.

- He was?

Yeah, he was.

That case for me?

- Yes.

Don't you have something for me?

- Oh, yeah.

I nearly forgot.

- Please, please, please.

No, no.

Please, no.

- I'll take that.

Get the cases.

The car's out front, I'll see you down there.

- You'll never get out of this building alive, you know.

- Nice tie.

- Get the car.

- What the hell were you thinking

sending me in there on my own like that?

- I haven't got time to explain that to you, Lester.

Uh oh.

- What?

- Hold on tight.

- That'll hurt his pay book.

- Take that.

- What for?

- Take a wild guess.

- All right!

- Look out!

- That's good shooting, give that back to me.

Morning.

- Morning.

Better get to work inside.

The city engineers have been on the phone.

They're on their way down,

and they may want to close down the dig.

- Can they do not? - Oh, yes.

- What way is this?

It just keeps going down and down and down.

The body of the stone.

200,000 pounds, it's all yours.

- What, all of it?

All of it.

And a new passport, and details of a new home in Valencia.

- Valencia?

What's going on, Add?

- We're in over our heads on this one, Lester.

I shouldn't have got you involved.

It's my fault, I'm sorry, but you have to leave tonight.

- I can't just leave.

- We're dealing with professionals, professional killers!

They never intended to pay us.

They wanted this trinket and then us dead.

Now, you have to leave tonight.

Don't call Phoebe, don't call anyone.

Do you understand me?

- Yeah.

Yeah.

- I'm sorry.

I really am.

- It doesn't look so bad now.

I almost like the place.

Five holes.

Looks like some sort of key is needed to open it.

- Like the one we've lost.

- Never mind.

- Mr. Rossini.

We have somebody here that you might recognize.

Of course you do, it's your brother Lester.

We have a proposition for you, Mr. Rossini.

You'll carry out another robbery,

and I'll be half this time.

This is the item in question.

A jewel-encrusted golden eye,

currently in the care of the British Museum.

You'll find a building layout, security arrangements,

everything you need for the successful

planning of this operation here on this desk.

But I wouldn't spend too long thinking about it

if I were you, Mr. Rossini.

You see, we're working to rather a tight deadline.

My employer needs both the jeweled eye

and that key you so skillfully acquired the other night

by dawn tomorrow.

Now, if you fail to do this,

things could go badly for Lester here.

- Sorry, Addie.

Very badly, indeed.

- Brother Sabec.

- It is time.

- You're looking well, Doctor.

I'm not here to harm you, but I will if I have to.

- I know you think you're here to save us all, but-

- If the amulet falls into the wrong hands,

no one will be able to save us.

- Please, don't go and make things worse for yourself.

- Things could get a lot worse for both of us, Kryssie.

Ow.

- Addie?

- The news isn't good, brothers.

What about the eye?

- Someone has intercepted it,

but don't despair just yet.

Brother Sabec has tracked it down and is watching.

We should just kill him.

- Patience, Brother.

We don't know what his motives are or what he intends

to do with it.

The time to act is upon us.

- Hello, Francis.

Guns down, down.

- All of ya, put your guns down.

- Where's my brother?

Where is he?

- Have you got something for me, Rossini?

- My brother first.

You all right, Lester?

- Yeah.

Call me.

I don't think so.

- What are you doing here?

Retrieving stolen goods.

- No!

Stop!

Put the gun down, Dr. Segalman.

You were never meant to be involved in this.

- But why?

- The treasure, Kristina, the treasure of Templars.

With this key, I can open the secret chamber,

have it all!

- Get in the car!

- Where's she going?

Get to the cars.

Lester, you okay?

- I'm okay, are you okay?

- I'm okay.

Come on, hurry up!

- I'm trying! - Hurry up!

- I got it!

- If I don't get to the Old Bailey,

it'll be an unimaginable catastrophe.

Only I can stop it.

- Are we going to listen to this?

This man is a mental patient.

He stabbed me!

Look!

- Yeah, well, I felt like stabbing you

on more than one occasion.

Now, listen, old man, all I want

is the money that's owed to me.

Maybe, as a bonus, get even

with this Woodrow guy, whatever his name is.

I don't like the sound of that.

- Why are you hanging around with these people?

They will not help us.

- Oi, I never asked you to tag along.

If we hadn't stopped to collect you,

you would've been shot, or barbecued by now.

- Time is running out.

The demon will soon have the key,

and if he uses it to open the door,

he will release a curse upon the whole of mankind.

- What door?

- A doorway to hell, constructed by Tyburn.

- Tyburn?

- Ulrich Tyburn,

a Knight Templar of the First Crusade.

When the Christian forces of the West took Jerusalem,

a desperate search began for religious relics.

Under the Temple of Solomon,

we found treasures beyond the imagination.

Amongst these treasures was a cup, the cup of Christ,

the Holy Grail.

But Tyburn had found something else in the chamber,

an ancient key from a world long forgotten.

In a ceremony at the Temple of Solomon,

we drank from the Grail,

and, in doing so,

received the gift

of life eternal.

But Tyburn's key was cursed by an evil demon.

It possessed his body and poisoned his soul.

Tyburn must rid himself of all traces of his own humanity.

In 1381, I saved his own granddaughter

from a death at his hands.

Once again, he seeks his heir,

the last of his direct descendants.

You, Kryssie.

- What?

- This is absurd.

- There is a birthmark on the back of your neck.

Your mother had the same mark,

as did her mother before her.

- Right, enough!

Woodrow and Francis are at the Old Bailey.

- Yes, I know. - Well, that's where

we're all headed.

- I'm going to the police, Addison.

Do as you please.

- No, let go!

- All my life, I've dreamt of the treasure

of the Templars, and, now, here it is.

My God, it's amazing.

Where's the treasure, where's the treasure?

Where is the treasure?

- Cowardly mannered.

I could smell your fear as you slithered

- We have long awaited your return, Master.

Your servants await your command.

- Stand.

There is much to do.

They'll be in there now.

Quickly, there's no time to lose!

- You all right in there?

Let me out, you!

- That's nice.

Won't be long, honey.

Just, yeah. - How long?

- Stay up here and keep your eyes open.

- Fine by me.

- Where is he going?

Where's he gone?

- Where's the girl Kryssie?

- She's behind you. - Very funny.

You're so dead.

- How'd you get out of the boot?

- Unlocked it.

- No, Kryssie, get out of here, now!

There's no time, he can sense your presence.

Quickly, get out, get her out of here!

- Let's go, now!

- Keep her safe at all costs, go!

- My old friend Morgan.

So you've been waiting for me all these years.

Pathetic.

You can't defeat me, old man.

We must get her to safety.

- It's locked!

- Open the door!

- Minion of darkness, condemned souls of Newgate,

servants of darkness bound by your souls, hear me.

Arise!

- Open the door!

- I've already tried.

- Kill the men, bring me the girl alive.

- The servants of darkness?

- That's my guess.

Lester, open the door!

- Don't worry, Addie, I'm coming.

- Lester, open the door.

- Les, open the door!

God.

- Tyburn, Tyburn, turn around.

Face me.

Lester, open the door!

- I'm trying, I really am!

- Add, up there.

- Looks good to me.

Not bad.

- No, Sabec!

- It's not gonna hold them for long.

Where are you going?

- This is the quickest way out.

Now what?

- Come on.

- Don't worry, Addie, I'm coming!

What are you doing, where's Addie?

- They found another way out.

- Well, where's your friend?

And who's this behind the door?

- They're all locked, what are we gonna do?

- I'm thinking.

- Come on!

- Thinking.

- Well, hurry!

- I'm thinking.

Where am I?

Hold that door for a minute.

- What?

- Hold the door! - What?

- Good, that's good.

- Good thinking, Einstein, we're trapped.

Tell me you have a plan to get us out of here.

- Not yet.

Well, hurry up!

- Ah!

I've got it!

Tie this around your waist.

- What are you doing?

- I'm going to lower you down to the pavement.

Are you insane?

- Have you got a better idea?

Kryssie, we haven't got all day!

Okay, okay, okay.

- Okay, careful, careful.

- What about you?

- I've got a plan for me.

- I'm not going without you.

- Oh, yes, you are.

Go!

Addie, help!

No!

- Leave him, he's mine!

No, no, no!

Bring them to me!

Bring them to me now!

- What are you doing?

We have to go back, we have to help them.

- Go back, I'm not stopping you.

- Fine, I will.

You're sure you're not coming?

- I'll help, but I think we need to get armed first.

- What did I do to deserve you again?

- Why, you pigheaded, son of a!

You steal my relics, you lock me in a trunk,

throw me out the window!

- Would you just calm down?

I'm gonna make a call.

- Hello?

- Lester. - Where are you?

- Yeah, we're on Suffix Street.

- No problem, the cavalry will be there in 10 minutes.

Just hold on.

- Carrying it like that, you'll shoot the wrong person.

- Don't look!

Hang on!

No, get off!

Get it off, get it off, get it off!

Get him off!

Hold on tight.

- We're trapped!

Addie, help, help!

Addie, help!

Back, back!

- Now we're trapped.

- There's no men after all.

Come to me.

- No! - Kristina!

- Addie! - Kristina, no!

- Oh, how touching.

Kill him.

- Are we done yet?

I hate cashews.

- Where is Kryssie?

- They've taken her.

- Then we must get her back.

If Tyburn sacrifices Kristina, it will complete his plan.

Then the armies of evil will consume the world,

and all will be lost.

- What are those things?

This is holy water.

I can use it to injure the enemy.

It burns them like concentrated acid.

- Great, well, bottle one for me, will you?

- So what's the plan?

- There's another way in,

a secret passage into the catacombs,

hidden beneath the floor of this church.

We sealed it in 1381.

Sabec and his men reopened it when Kristina found the key.

- And once we're in?

- We must send Tyburn through the doorway into hell.

- Oh, how, Morgan?

- Until Tyburn completes his ceremony

and makes his sacrifice, the forces of evil

will be unable to break free from their world into our own.

Tyburn is now one of these creatures,

a demon, a beast of Satan.

If we can force Tyburn through the door

before he kills Kryssie, he will be trapped like the others,

unable to escape.

- Right.

Let's go.

- He escaped us, sir.

- Well, then, what are you doing here?

It would seem that I have overestimated your usefulness.

I have no further use for you.

Please, don't kill me!

- Then give me your soul.

I want it.

- Welcome to Newgate.

- Here it is, help me with this, will you?

Hold this for me, will you, Lester?

- What is it?

- It's yours if I don't return.

- While we're down there, you keep

watching the main entrance.

- No problem.

- Don't go being a hero, do you hear?

You know me, Addie.

Stop it, no, stop it!

- It stinks.

- Spooky churchyard, night.

I just need to get a grip.

Oh, man.

Now I've got you.

- Don't be afraid.

With the taking of your life, everything will be changed.

- I'll see you in hell, first.

- Oh, without doubt.

With this flame of life extinguished,

let total darkness consume this world.

My sacred task complete,

bring me your armies of eternal damnation!

You're too late, Morgan, you should not have come here.

- Kryssie!

- Kill them.

- Addie, help, help!

- Morgan!

How long did you leave me in this temple to rot, Morgan?

In all that time, I thought of a million ways

in which to make you suffer.

You should've killed me when you had the chance.

- A mistake I will not be making twice.

- Addie, Addie, up here!

- You have lost, Morgan.

But I'm not going to kill you quite just yet.

Firstly, I want you to watch as your friends die one by one.

Watch them!

- Holy water, anyone?

- What are you waiting for, stop him!

- Addie, help!

- Thank you, my son.

- Idiot!

- Lester, free Kryssie.

No problem.

- You have stood in my way for the last time.

- To hell with you, Tyburn.

Oh, crap.

- I think you need a refill.

Your deaths will be slow, indeed.

- Turn around, Tyburn.

Well, what are you waiting for?

Come and get me.

- As you wish.

No!

- Kryssie!

No, no!

- Take my hand.

- Let go of her, Ulrich.

- Morgan!

This place is collapsing, let's go!

Lester, come on!

- There's nothing you could've done.

- I know.

- Leave him to it, he'll be okay.

- So, now what?

- Well, unless you wanna get on a soapbox

and explain all this, I suggest we get going.

- That's not what I meant.

- What do you wanna do, tidy up?

What?

What?

- Hey, Addie, there is a treasure.

According to Morgan's book, it was buried

500 years ago in a chamber under Threadneedle Street.

I wonder what's at Threadneedle Street now.
