This is Jeremy's room.

Morgan: They're the new Jeremy, right?

Morgan: Write in his journal!

I wasn't trying to replace Jeremy.

Morgan: These guys are just gonna come here, use me,

and leave, like every other passenger.

Jeremy was different.

He fixed parts of me when they broke.

He polished things to make them shine.

I didn't think she'd react like this.

I thought she'd, like, stop being mad and let me come home.

So I thought, you know, if you came here

you'd be able to stay together

without all the hang-ups you had back home.

[ Sighs ] Everyone's mad at me all the time.

about how things will affect other people.

And then when people get mad, you act like "Oh, no!

And then you just float away,

like, "Well, it's their problem now!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's a hat, Min.

"It's the fifth anniversary

of me living with Morgan and Kez."

Did you just say fifth?!

You can get stuck here for five years?

"We had a party, just us three.

A bunch of passengers were here for my first anniversary,

but it's just me now.

Morgan doesn't say so,

but I know all the goodbyes have been taking a toll.

She closed off the whole east wing last week."

[ Gasps ] Ryan.

"Kez said some stuff that freaked me out today.

I'm trying not to think about it too much, though.

Morgan asked why I've been distant lately.

But what if I tell her and she hates me?

I'm gonna talk to Kez about it at breakfast first.

I mean, this started with Kez anyway."

Ryan: What if Morgan hears us?

[ Latch clicks, hinges creak ]

It's nighttime. Maybe she's asleep.

You know she talks,

but you're gonna get hung up on her circadian rhythm?

Oh. Morgan's sleeping, I guess.

We read Jeremy's journal.

His last entry said he was having breakfast with you.

What happened?

Oh.

Well, his number had been going down,

and he asked me not to tell Morgan.

Then that morning he started talking about his car crash.

He told me I said some things

that had him thinking about it more and more.

I don't know what I said, though, honestly.

I say a lot of things!

Anyway, he told me he was driving one night

and it was super foggy and this car came at him head-on

'cause the driver couldn't see.

Jeremy swerved to avoid him and crashed.

[ Gasps ]

But his mom and sister were in the car with him,

and they died.

It was obvious he blamed himself, you know?

So I told him it wasn't his fault.

He nodded, but I could tell he didn't believe it.

So I was like, "Okay, but for real."

He nodded again, but I was like, "Ugh. Whatever!

You're not getting it."

And then all I said was, "I think even though you live here,

you never really left that fog."

And out of nowhere his number went to zero

and his exit appeared! What?! What?!

Yeah. I don't think he meant to leave.

Just look.

But, like, try telling that to a mystical vortex.

I yelled for Morgan, but it was too late.

She got there just in time to see him get sucked through.

It was awful.

And, like, I miss him too, you know?

He was my friend.

I messed up so bad.

Min: Kez.

Our numbers are supposed to go down.

Isn't that the whole point of this?

Well... yeah.

So you didn't mess up.

You helped Jeremy deal with a really horrible,

sad thing that happened to him.

And it's not fair for Morgan to be mad at you for it.

Sad, yeah. But not mad.

[ Down-tempo music plays ]

You still lied about why you were bringing us here,

and that was really, really wrong.

But... [ Sighs ]

I think you're basically good, Kez.

You just need to, like, get better at it.

Yeah?

[ Rumbling ]
