- We checked Heath's records.

Turns out he remodeled the bathroom

for Mrs. Crane about a month ago.

- After the son was released.

- Could be their paths
have crossed before.

- Well, we're trying to make a connection

between Crane and the other two victims.

MO is identical.

he's good for all three.

a couple months every year.

I mean literally, they locked him up.

Dr. Foster, Terry Crane is your patient,

He was released two months ago.

I've had no contact with him since.

He's one of the gentlest

- He went after his step-father
with a baseball bat.

- A result of his obsessive
compulsive disorder.

- What, like, he has to keep checking,

make sure the door is locked?

- That's one example of OCD.

His case is more complicated.

It's manifested in a fear of abandonment.

He needs constant assurance
of home and family

in order to feel safe,
to function reliably.

- And what does that mean exactly?

- It means that if he's not
home then he's will his mother.

He could never get along without both.

- What about the other way around?

If he's not with his
mother, he has to come home?

- I'd say that's true.

- All right, well, if you hear from him,

you let us know, okay?

- Why did he go after his step-father?

- When he moved out, he
threatened to sell the house,

leaving Terry and his mother homeless.

It fed into his worst fears.

- Well, if Crane believes someone else

is a threat to either
his home or his mother

is it possible he could
become violent again?

- It's possible.

(ominous music)

- It's still early.

We could just hang out here for a while.

(pensive jazz music)

His driver's license, car

- All the victims say the same thing.

- I spoke with the sheriff in Helena.

He's trying to locate her sister.

people the whole state.

- A lot of them are off grid.

us when he's got anything.

(Leo sighs)

- Word on this mope is he's
something of a homebody,

the conclusion being sooner or later

Crane's gonna show up at that house.

And believe me, I like it less than you,

but at the moment we got no other choice.

We're gonna sit on this house for a while,

maybe change our luck.

When we first moved in

Jonathan wanted to work at
home a couple of days a week.

He hates the commute.

It never really happened that way.

so this room is empty most of the time.

- We have a woman who comes in, Angela,

and there's a gardener
who comes in on Fridays,

but he never comes inside.
