[Love a Lifetime]

[Episode 1]

Give it to me, and I'll give you a quick death!

It just fell into the water accidentally.

If you really want it, you just need to jump into the water and find it.

We can kill you first and get it after.

Who are you?

You're the second daughter of the Rong family in Longyin City.

You can't even win against these scoundrels.

I really overestimated you.

How do you know that I'm the second daughter?

Moreover, how do you know I can't deal with them?

Even if you didn't come, I would still have a good trick to beat them with.

A good trick?

Fine. Then do it yourself.

- Go ahead. - I'll go.

My name is Lin Jing.

I'm from the Nanyang region.

Let's go. Why are you taking your belongings?

Did my master really ask you to save me?

Of course.

Rest assured. No one will try and look.

Your fighting ability really is weak.

You can consider begging me escort you back safely.

I want to ask you something.

I know what you want to ask.

Longyin City is famous in the pugilistic world.

The City Master has two daughters.

The elder daughter has extraordinary martial arts skills and she is as excellent as her male peers.

As for the younger daughter...

What about the younger daughter?

She is very much doted on.

These two daughters are totally different in terms of character and martial arts skills.

So it's easy to distinguish between them.

I came to rescue you this time only because... my disciple asked me to.

How come you have a disciple?

Because I've taken a... very unreliable disciple.

How can you, as the second daughter of Longyin City's City Master, be incapable of getting changed?

You don't usually change clothes by yourself, right?

That's none of your business!

Did you notice anything odd about Miss Rong Hua's letter?

She usually doesn't get along with you,

but she relented first this time.

Rong Hua has always been playful and uncaring about serious matters.

She is seldom close to me.

But this time she's breaking the mould and asking me to come to her aid outside the city.

I can't be caught off guard if she just wants to figure out my stance.

Immediately send some disciples to keep close watch on her.

Also that Lin Jing... we don't know his background.

What exactly is his purpose for being at Rong Hua's side?

Are you afraid that Miss Rong Hua actively asking you for help is a trap?

Regardless of whether or not Rong Hua has the Chihua Pill,

I will never let her become the City Master.

I want to see what tricks she is playing.

Could it be that from the start, Lin Jing's help

was a trap??

The human mind is unpredictable.

I must guard against it.

I have to leave at night to escape him

and then investigate thoroughly.

What happened?

Nothing. I just accidentally fell when watching the stars.

Watching the stars?

I really couldn't tell that you would have a habit of stargazing at night.

But as it's the middle of the night,

being alone outside... is truly unsafe.

I think I'd better stay with you.

I suddenly feel a little sleepy.

Why don't you go alone?

How can I go alone?

It'll only be interesting if we go together!

Let's go.

Watch the stars!

Longyin City has many hidden secrets, just like this starry sky.

If I want to find the truth, I must enter Longyin City.

No matter the outcome, I must get the answer myself.

- Why are you running? - It won't seem precious if we don't chase them!

Aren't you just stargazing?

- Why... - Lower your voice.

Don't scare the stars away.

Lin Jing actually noticed that I'm following them.

He has extraordinary martial arts skills.

It seems he's a tough opponent.

Let's go.

Where are we going?

Let's go.

Watch out!

From now on, you better seriously learn some martial arts skills from me.

Look at you. It's just climbing a roof, and you've ended up like this.

You want to teach me with only your amateur skills?

Nothing.

I said sure!

Did you know?

Each star in this starry sky has its own story.

How can stars have stories?

Stars have five unique elements, forming the light in the night.

The heavenly sky is made of seven constellations in the East.

Extending from west to south,

they are visible only in the southern sky in the summer night.

Look there.

The Big Dipper is over there.

Does it look like a ladle for serving wine?

Right there.

I see it! It's there!

When the handle of the Dipper faces east, it is springtime everywhere.

When it faces the south, it is summer.

When it faces the west, it is autumn.

And when it faces the north, it is winter!

You are so smart.

It's getting late. Let's go back.

Are you... alright?

I'm fine.

Do you know what the stars like?

The stars like it when you have them in your eyes.

It turns out he is not as annoying as I imagined.

Do you like watching stars?

Of course I do.

If you like it, then in future I'll always be outside your window.

That way, when you want to stargaze, you won't fall out of the window.

Only by entering Longyin City will I find the truth about my father's death.

I cannot go of this opportunity.

I wanted to get rid of this hindrance,

but I didn't expect him to be so relentless.

It seems that I have to think of a way.

Lin Jing,

don't blame me.

You lost something?

You have been following me the whole way.

Is it because of the Chihua Pill?

Why aren't you speaking?

Now that the Chihua Pill is lost,

no one had a chance to get it except you.

It seems that you have planned it in advance.

Maybe the assassins at the lake were sent by you.

Are you finished?

What?

Now that I've seen through your dirty tricks, you feel guilty?

I have aways been upright in my actions.

Regardless of any slander or misunderstanding,

it can be investigated and figured out, right?

What do you want?

Since you said I stole your Chihua Pill,

shouldn't you personally investigate

to find out whether or not your Longyin City's famous Chihua Pill

is on me?

Hall Master has ordered that Miss Rong Hua shouldn't be hurt in this operation.

We only need to deal with Lin Jing.

People from Hall of Emptiness are here.

They're intending to kill.

Does Sister want to kill me or Lin Jing?

Or does she want the Chihua Pill?

I only asked for her support,

I didn't expect her to be so ruthless.

Do you know those people outside?

You are injured!

I'm fine.

You got injured because of me. How could you say you are fine?

Get up.

Hurry and leave.

What is going on?

I don't have time to explain to you now.

Hurry up and get out of here!

If you don't explain it clearly, I won't go.

This place is dangerous now.

Go now!

This... Your wound is poisoned?

Why don't I do it?

Poison?

How can you know that?

I'll give you a chance then.

Go on.

You'll need to endure the pain.

This time, you clearly wrote me the letter asking for support.

I asked the disciples Hall of Emptiness to secretly save you,

but you ordered them to retreat and protected Lin Jing instead.

What are you planning?

I did ask you to support me,

but I just wanted you to take the Chihua Pill back to the city.

I didn't ask you to hurt Lin Jing.

Moreover, the poison on this dart is made by the Hall of Sickness.

Ordinary people will not have the antidote.

Sister, give me the antidote.

Lin Jing's background is unknown.

Over the last few days, I've seen him bothering you and Hall Master Bai.

He must have ulterior motives.

Since he was injured by a dart, it means he is unlucky.

There's no need to waste effort in saving him.

Killing a suspicious person is better than leaving a potential danger.

Although I don't know his background, he has saved my life.

So many disciples of the Hall of Emptiness came to protect me.

However, darts have no eyes.

Lin Jing was able to avoid them due to his martial arts ability.

But if I got hurt,

your intention of saving me would have gotten me into trouble.

I would feel sorry if you were punished because of me.

Then it looks like you were worried and nervous for nothing.

I didn't say that.

I know clearly why you are here this time.

I'm afraid others may misunderstand you.

Anyone who has intentions toward the Chihua Pill must die!

You people from Longyin City are so unreasonable.

Sister, this is the Chihua Pill.

Please take it back to the city.

[Longyin City]

Dad!

Hua'er, you're back!

Dad!

Hua'er!

You're back.

I've been worried about you.

It's good that you are back. It's good.

Oh right, where is it?

Take it out and let me see.

Dad, I was delayed on the way back

so I asked Sister to bring it back first.

- Sister. - Master Rong,

here is the Chihua Pill.

Master Rong.

So it is here.

Excellent. Hua'er, the Chihua Pill is the most valuable treasure in Longyin City.

You didn't disgrace Longyin City this time.

The Chihua Pill is a miraculous medicine that can bring life to those near death.

It is also exclusively owned by Longyin City.

This time, Hua'er has succeeded in obtaining it.

It's a great achievement.

The position of Hall Master in the Hall of Life has been vacant for some time.

It's time to find someone to take charge.

Hua'er has been learning medicine since childhood. She has healing hands and a kind heart.

I think the Hall Master position must be hers.

Dad, why don't we open it to take a look?

Alright, let's take a look.

Hua'er, what's going on?

Hua'er, what are you up to again?

Where is the Chihua Pill? Take it out.

Could it be possible that some stealthily substituted this for the Chihua Pill?

Xiaoxiao.

Rong Su, Hua'er gave it to you for safe keeping.

Did you have an accident on the way home?

Rong Hua, since the day you gave me this box,

I haven't opened it!

It's fine if you are playful usually.

But the Chihua Pill is not a game.

Make it clear. Don't think about slandering me.

Sister, don't be anxious.

Listen to me first.

Dad, this time when I passed by Qingtian Creek,

I remembered that you told me how you and mother met there.

Mother passed away early,

and you haven't had a chance to revisit it,

so I specifically brought back this stone so you can cherish my mother's memory.

This girl.

I see.

Hua'er, you are really thoughtful.

But... Where exactly is our Chihua Pill?

Dad! Sister is so good at martial arts,

and she didn't even find the Chihua Pill.

How could I find it?

Besides, with my skills,

how could I know where the Chihua Pill is?

Master Tang was killed; Chihua Pill was stolen.

Unless... this was deliberate murder in order to claim the Pill?

I think you have no need to be anxious or worried.

Isn't the Chihua Pill the treasure of Longyin City?

All people in the pugilistic world know that.

Anyone who takes the Chihua Pill must also take the antidote.

If there is no antidote, the it's useless.

Master Rong, don't worry.

I think the culprit will be delivered to you soon.

Who are you?

Dad, I forgot to tell you. He is Lin Jing.

When I came across assassins on the way home, he saved my life.

Later, Sister may have misunderstood him, so hurt him by accident.

I really couldn't cure his poison so I brought him back.

But Dad, don't worry.

When his wound heals, I'll let him go.

I see.

It was not easy for me to escape marriage and come here.

Actually, I can be considered a person of Longyin City now.

To tell you the truth, apart from being her savior,

I have another special identity.

Why do you say this?

About this matter,

ask old Hall Master Bai... ask old Hall Master Bai to explain it to you.

Old Bai... what is this all about?

Actually... he is no one important.

Old Bai, stop mumbling.

What is going on?

Tell us honestly.

Elder, Elder.

Why are you so careless?

So it's you, you brat!

Let me down quickly!

It was so difficult for me to hang you up.

Why would I let you down so easily?

I know it!

You did something to the roast chicken, didn't you?

No! I... clearly saw you take two bites too!

Roast chicken and fine wine are a perfect combination.

Old man!

You are greedy.

You won't come to a good end, old man.

At the time, I made it very clear that roast chicken

is only a perfect combination with fine wine.

F-fine. Forget it. Forget it.

I am a magnanimous person.

I won't lower myself to the same level as you.

If... If you have anything to say, then say it.

I want you to take me as your master

so that you can take care of me

whilst I escape my marriage. Isn't that right?

You are taking advantage of me. No way!

If there's no way, then you should enjoy yourself up there.

Then... I'll agree to it, Master.

Say it louder. I can't hear you.

Master!

You're so obedient!

I... Greetings, Master.

That's right.

Second Miss, Hall Master Bai is your master.

Today Hall Master Bai's master appeared.

So Lin Jing...

Isn't he your grand-master?

You really are picking up the only kettle that isn't boiling. (T/N: rubbing it in)

Don't mention him again. Are you clear?

But you were attacked on your way back to the city.

Could it be that someone did that intentionally?

For example, someone from Longyin City?

Where did you hear such groundless gossip?

I don't even know who the culprit is. How do you know?

Second Miss, there's something you don't know.

Before you came back, rumors had already spread across all the halls.

It's obvious that someone dislikes you.

Even Master Rong thought that that person had done it.

Tell me.

My sister is the Hall Master of the Hall of Emptiness.

How could she do those stealthy unscrupulous things?

You're not allowed to gossip about this anymore.

Alright!

[Number One: Shen Shuzhan, Tiezhang Sect Leader. Number Two: Wu Muxi, Chixi Palace Leader]

Master Xue has extraordinary skills

but he was seriously injured.

What exactly is the background of Lingxu Pavilion?

In the pugilistic world, we only see their shadows and not their people.

If their power continues to expand,

our Longyin City may not have any position in future.

It's time to investigate it thoroughly.

I have sent some people to investigate it.

Lingxu Pavilion is a mysterious sect which emerged in the last ten years.

Many people were curious and tried to find out

but... they went and never return.

In the pugilistic world, no one alive has seen a person of Lingxu Pavillion.

There are even rumors that

the disciples of Lingxu Pavilion have extraordinary abilities

and that they are immortals scattered in the world.

They are just rumors from the pugilistic world.

As long as Lingxu Pavilion really exists,

there must be a day when its flaws are revealed.

When there is a chance,

I'm going to meet them in person.

This time I could have seized the Chihua Pill

and use it to help you get closer to becoming the City Master, but...

Fortunately, Miss Rong Hua didn't have any results either.

Rong Hua seems simple, but she's actually quite shrewd.

The theft of the Chihua Pill is too much of a coincidence.

I suspect there are other hidden secrets.

Do you suspect that Miss Rong Hua is hiding the Chihua Pill with evil intentions?

Second Miss, what are you doing?

Nothing. Don't worry.

In a moment, go and guard the door.

If somebody comes, let me know.

If you are afraid that this man is up to no good,

just drive him away.

Why are you deigning to investigate personally?

Without evidence, how can I drive him away?

Besides, I brought him back, so I have to investigate thoroughly.

Hurry.

It's strange.

Lin Jing, just wait.

Why should I wait?

Aren't I right here?

You... When did you come in?

I didn't expect that the Second Miss of the Rong Family

not only likes watching stars at night,

but also likes sneaking into someone else's room.

What's wrong with you?

There is a door there, but you had to climb in the window.

When I returned, I saw someone guarding at the door,

and I was wondering what was going on inside,

so I went to the window in order to climb in and see for myself.

I didn't expect… I didn't expect that the Second Miss of the Rong Family

is doing something shady in my room.

What are you talking about?

I'm here to give you candles.

Seems my kindness came to no good.

Last time... you framed me for stealing things

and searched my entire body to prove my innocence.

I also got injured for no reason.

This time, shouldn't you be more proactive and let me search your body thoroughly?

Don't come over. D-don't come over!

Go away! What are you doing?

Eldest Miss!

Eldest Miss! It's so late. What are you doing here?

I... I just passed by.

The Hall of Emptiness has lost something important so we must search this place.

It's none of your business. You're dismissed.

No, Eldest Miss!

Eldest Miss, Eldest Miss.

You can't, Eldest Miss!

- Eldest Miss! E— - Don't touch me!

Go away! Go away!

You are all here.

Good evening.

Sister.

What is all this about?

You are a girl.

What will happen if rumors about this spread in the city?

Father, I was just delivering candles to Lin Jing.

Master Rong, when I entered the room,

I did see Rong Hua holding some candles.

Now you know to side with your sister.

Tell me.

Does the attack on your sister have anything to do with you?

So it turns out you were always suspicious of me.

No matter what I say and do,

you have long determined that I am the instigator.

These years, I have gone through life and death for Longyin City

and indeed killed a lot of people who deserve to die.

But I deny accusations of intending to kill family!

Enough!

Don't think I don't know what you are thinking.

Since a few days ago, you have sent your men to watch your sister.

Aren't you clear about what you're planning?

At this moment, you are still trying to make up excuses.

- I didn't! - Dad!

Dad, you really have misunderstood Sister.

This has nothing to do with her.

I asked her to meet me and bring the Chihua Pill back.

If she was selfish,

she could have opened the wooden box to see what was inside.

In my opinion, she is selfless and loyal to Longyin City.

Fine. You don't need to find excuses for her.

If she is really like what you said,

that would be good.

Thank you for explaining to the Master Rong for me just now.

I want to thank you for proving Lin Jing and me innocent.

I haven't thanked you for protecting me in secret.

Sister, you and I are sisters.

The family bond will never change.

Your contributions to Longyin City can be seen by Father.

Rong Hua, I'll definitely investigate the assassins

and find out the one who wants to drive a wedge between us.

I have something to do, so I've got to go.

According to your command,

I went to the place Lin Jing mentioned to inquire for information.

Did you find anything?

There is indeed a family whose surname is Lin in the Nanyang region.

But it seems that they moved away a few years ago.

So I showed a picture of Lin Jing to those living nearby.

Some people claimed that there is a resemblance,

but as many years have passed, it's hard to tell.

For further information, I will need to inquire more along the way.

It may take a few days.

Fine. There's no need to continue.

Master Rong, you mean...

For the safety of Longyin City,

we would rather kill wrongly than release someone guilty.

Just find chance to get rid of him.

But you must remember

not to leave any traces behind.

Yes.

Go ahead.

I'm so mad. I'm so mad.

Lin Jing. Lin Jing.

I'm so mad.

What are you doing?

Why are you mad?

Aren't you just escaping marriage?

You can go anywhere, but why did you have to come to Longyin City?

Since I can go anywhere, why can't I come to Longyin City?

Because you are not welcome here.

That's impossible!

Your father just said that I should stay longer.

I think everyone in Longyin City likes me a lot except you.

You really are barefaced and shameless.

I've had enough!

I'm ordering you to leave Longyin City now.

What are you looking at?

My disciple's disciple is quite cute when she's lying.

Who told lies?

Don't flatter yourself.

Besides, I don't need you to say whether I'm cute or not. I know it.

So... Why aren't you leaving yet?

How can there be the sound of gongs and drums at night?

Unless someone is having a wedding?

[Longyin City]

[Wedding procession]

[Longyin City]

He doesn't look like someone from the martial arts world,

he looks more like a good-for-nothing man from a wealthy family.

Sorry for disturbing you late at night, but this is urgent.

Did you come to a wrong place?

This is Longyin City. How dare you take liberties and make a racket?

Leave here quickly.

I didn't come to the wrong place.

I wonder which family's daughter you are intending to marry?

It's the middle of the night, unless it is a ghost marriage?

I wonder whether your fiancée is inside the city

or already a ghost of Longyin City.

This person is currently in the city.

Please allow us to pass.

How dare you!

My patience has reached its limit.

This farce ends here.

If you don't leave, don't blame me for being rude.

You have such a hot temper.

Try and say another word!

Lin Jing is now in the City.

If you can have him leave the city,

I'll leave with my people and won't stay any longer.

Lin Jing?

Yes.

Did he mention he escaped marriage?

You caused the trouble.

Why don't you hurry up and solve this matter?

You are not right.

If I really go back, that would be irresponsible towards that girl.

I don't think so.

When you are here, I get annoyed at the sight of you!

Sister.

Why are you here?

What happened to your neck?

Oh, no. You were injured by a girl...

W-well... As long as I bring you back and not disappoint Mrs. Lin,

more injuries won't be a big deal for me.

Besides, when you decided to escape marriage,

did you think about my situation?

Isn't it because I had no other choice?

No other choice?

When you begged me at home and said you were bored,

and wanted to go out to watch a play and relax yourself before the wedding,

I thought, alright, since we are good friends for many years.

I could do you a small favor.

But I didn't expect you were going to escape marriage.

Have you ever thought how Madam would punish me after?

Just now you knew how to care about me.

You even asked if I was injured.

Did you know that Miss Mei is waiting for you at home?

Finished?

When will you give up the habit of nagging?

If I don't say it, how will you know how serious the matter is?

Lin Jing, since they came here to find you,

you should go back with him quickly.

Don't delay.

Let's go.

OK. I'll go back.

Lin Jing, I mean that way, not this way.

Stop, Lin Jing!

We did disturb you with our actions.

Sorry for bringing inconvenience to the City Master and everyone here.

Please forgive us.

If I didn't do that, I'm afraid I couldn't force Lin Jing to show himself.

Sorry for disturbing you tonight.

I'm leaving.

Stop!

Longyin City is not a place where you can come and go freely as you like.

You are still injured, so you'd better not fight.

As long as Lin Jing is in the city, I'll come again.

Are you afraid that there will be no chance for us to meet again?

Ridiculous. Who wants to meet you again?

If you don't want to meet me again,

please drive Lin Jing out of Longyin City as soon as possible.

That would be a way to satisfy both sides.

[To Lin Jing]
