- Well, we're trying to make a connection

between Crane and the other two victims.

- A result of his obsessive
compulsive disorder.

make sure the door is locked?

- That's one example of OCD.

His case is more complicated.

It's manifested in a fear of abandonment.

He needs constant assurance
of home and family

in order to feel safe,
to function reliably.

- And what does that mean exactly?

- It means that if he's not
home then he's will his mother.

He could never get along without both.

- What about the other way around?

If he's not with his
mother, he has to come home?

- I'd say that's true.

- All right, well, if you hear from him,

you let us know, okay?

- Why did he go after his step-father?

- When he moved out, he
threatened to sell the house,

leaving Terry and his mother homeless.

It fed into his worst fears.

- Well, if Crane believes someone else

is a threat to either
his home or his mother

is it possible he could
become violent again?

- It's possible.

something of a homebody,

the conclusion being sooner or later
