[The Wolf]

[Episode 2]

Being able

to treat my illness

is your honor.

Lieutenant Xia Hou was attacked by an assassin!

After him!

Let's see who he is.

Yes, Sir!

You two, guard the door!

We'll go after him.

Yes, Sir!

Father.

Why is this happening?

Lieutenant Xia Hou was assassinated.

Lieutenant Xia Hou

is the sworn brother of His Majesty!

Manager Wang.

At your service.

What's going on here?

I...

When I was going to wait upon the Lieutenant

I saw the lieutenant

fight with that wolf monster.

All of a sudden,

he was dead.

Castellan.

Castellan.

It's my fault.

I shouldn't have listened

to the lieutenant

and gone hunting for young wolves at the Wolf Hunt Mountain

to treat the Lieutenant's illness.

That must...

That must have been the reason

why the wolf monster left the mountain

and attacked the lieutenant.

The wolf monster left the mountain?

We're not sure if this is

the wolf monster's doing.

But the murderer behaved oddly.

He seemed like a wolf not like a human,

he crawled on the ground

and rescued the young wolf.

I needed just one look to conclude

that he was just

a boy acting like a savage.

Father.

There's a hunter

who's seen the wolf monster in person.

Says he's both like a wolf and a human.

It must have been the wolf monster!

For sure.

His Majesty will arrive at Kuizhou in a few days.

We must investigate this as quickly as possible.

We must find the real murderer

before His Majesty arrives.

Assistant General Ma,

assemble the soldiers.

Pursue the murderer.

Find out the truth.

This man can hide from the guards

and sneak into Ma Mansion.

He murdered Lieutenant Xia Hou

who was highly skilled in martial arts.

He must be very skillful.

Be careful.

Don't forget.

I'll lead the soldiers to the mountain right away.

I will capture that savage!

Be careful.

He is human.

He's also much more

violent than a wolf.

If we can't find the murderer,

we cannot

give His Majesty an explanation.

Yes, Sir.

Hurry!

Prepare to head to the mountain!

Brother Feng Cheng!

What happened?

Princess.

Why the big scene?

Princess.

Something happened in the mansion.

The mountain's wolf monster

murdered the lieutenant.

We must catch him immediately.

Impossible!

We suspect the wolf monster

because of his human-like appearance

and wolf-like nature.

But his motive

is to rescue the young wolf

which the lieutenant wanted to eat.

Why did the Princess act so anxious?

What does she have to do with his?

Castellan,

the cause of death

is indeed the fracture of his throat

which hindered his breathing.

It was my fault.

I shouldn't have listened to the lieutenant

and gone to

the mountain to hunt for the young wolf for him.

Once we catch the monster,

we will kill him with no mercy!

He's not a wolf monster!

Enough with the nonsense!

Zhai Xing.

Princess.

Father.

There must be a misunderstanding.

The boy you speak of

who behaves like a wolf,

he's not a monster.

He looks like a wolf

because

the wolf pack raised him.

How do you know this?

You know him?

He...

He's the friend that I wanted to

introduce you to.

After everything that's happened

I have to confess.

The so-called wolf monster matter

was actually staged

by me.

Ma Zhai Xing!

So you were tricking me!

Explain yourself.

I was going to

tell you

after the lieutenant leaves.

You...

I learned how to make medicine

from Uncle Wang.

I know how to make ecstasy incense.

It can cause people to hallucinate that

they saw a wolf monster.

We don't want to hurt anyone.

I just wish

to protect the wolf pack

from the hunters.

Such absurdity!

I will ignore

your tricks for now.

But he murdered the lieutenant.

He's become a major criminal of the court.

I can't let him go away with this.

No!

Father.

Wolfie would never

hurt anyone for no reason.

Father.

I beg you!

Father!

I beg you!

Father.

Don't let the men hunt him!

He will be so scared.

He finally started

to trust people.

Let me go to the mountain

and ask him what happened, please?

Shut up!

This

is your retribution for tricking me!

That wolf monster

murdered Xia Hou Lieutenant!

Father, Uncle Wang

and all the others

saw it with their own eyes!

This is solid evidence!

Your brother is right.

I wouldn't lie to you.

But...

Maybe..

There's some kind of

misunderstanding.

Perhaps he is not evil.

But can you guarantee

that he's not brutish in nature?

Can you guarantee

that he wouldn't hurt anyone

or even murder someone

to protect

the young wolf?

I believe him.

Though he has that wildness in his nature,

but after spending some time

with him,

I know that he'd never

claim someone's life without reason!

Zhai Xing.

Isn't this enough?

You spread rumors

and made the whole city of Kuizhou

nervous and scared.

You pretend to be selfless

and tricked your brother

into sealing off the mountain.

Now someone's life was taken!

And it was His Majesty's

sworn brother at that!

Don't you know

that this is going to bring

a catastrophe on the Ma family?

And by now,

you're still

on his side!

I won't let you

get any more involved in this!

I must capture the wolf monster alive

and sentence him with justice.

If he didn't do it,

I will treat him fairly.

If it was him

who killed Lieutenant Xia Hou,

I will take his life

and reclaim our Ma family's innocence!

Father.

Wang Xiang!

Castellan.

Take her away!

Father!

Father!

Take her away!

Princess.

Father!

Let's go.

Father!

Go!

Father!

Princess.

Father, he's not a monster!

He's only a kid

who knows nothing!

Manager Wang,

let me out!

Manager Wang.

Princess.

Please reflect on your mistakes.

This has gone too far.

You better be quiet for a while.

Manager Wang!

Wait!

Can you do me a favor?

Can you keep me informed

about father's hunt?

Princess.

I'm afraid

I can't do this for you.

Castellan will do him justice.

Manager Wang!

Manager Wang!

I haven't finished talking yet!

Come back!

Manager Wang!

Manager Wang!

Is Wolfie hurt?

Is he scared?

Manager Wang!

Manager Wang!

Come back!

It's not that I don't trust father.

But is any one of you willing to believe

that a child

who was raised by wolves

can be kinder than you and me?

Can any of you believe that?

Let me out.

Open the door!

Open the door!

Let me out!

Guards!

Find the wolf monster!

Seems like the cave is right ahead!

He's hurt!

He won't get far!

There are footprints!

We can't let him get away this time.

Follow the noise!

Quick!

Over there, in front of us!

Follow up! Quick!

Over there!

Got him!

Over there!

Quick!

Take them all down!

The wolf pack is here!

The wolf pack is here to help him!

Will there be wolf monsters?

Assistant General, what should we do?

They are just normal wolves.

We have nothing to be scared of.

There's no wolf monster here.

Wolves are afraid of fire.

If we encounter the wolf pack,

use the fire against them.

If it gets dangerous,

shoot them!

We must catch the wolf monster today

and bring him back!

Yes, Sir!

They retreated!

I wonder if the savage

can give orders to the wolf pack.

He's no ordinary savage!

He can even order the wolf pack around!

Get ready!

No!

Xiao Feng.

Princess.

Are you okay?

I'm alright.

Xiao Feng.

Do you have news about

Wolfie?

No.

But His Majesty sent

a message

saying that he'll be here soon.

I heard

that His Majesty ordered Castellan

to catch Wolfie

and kill him.

I did this to him.

It's my fault.

I shouldn't have made up

that lore of the wolf monster.

I shouldn't have brought him down the mountain.

I did this to him.

Princess.

Don't blame yourself.

You couldn't have known

that Wolfie can kill someone.

It's not what you wanted.

There must be something else we don't know.

Or else,

he wouldn't have hurt someone.

Xiao Feng.

when I gave him the wolf tooth necklace

I promised him

that I will protect him.

He trusted me.

Unless you can prove his innocence,

how else can you protect him?

I'm worried he might die

before I find out the truth.

I only have one choice.

Xiao Feng, can you help me?

I grew up

with you.

You don't see me as a servant.

Instead,

you took care of me like I'm your sister.

For you,

I'm not even scared of the law.

Xiao Feng.

Thank you.

I must go to the mountain.

I must make him leave the mountain.

Princess.

The Ma Troop

brought so many soldiers into the mountain.

I think Wolfie

might have escaped already.

No.

Wolves don't hide

when they're in danger.

What I'm most afraid of is

that he'll worry I can't find him,

and thus, he won't leave.

What should we do then?

I have to make up my mind

and force him to leave.

The wolf pack wanted to attack.

They came to rescue him but then turned back.

It was Wolfie

who warned the wolf pack

not to get into conflict with us.

He rescued the young wolf alone.

He sacrificed himself to protect his friends.

I heard Wolfie has a heart

but I didn't believe it.

Now I'm impressed.

But he is

the murderer who killed the lieutenant.

If he wasn't the murderer, I can assure you

that Castellan will praise him

as one of the best generals

he has ever seen.

Such a shame.

I heard they caught the wolf monster.

Is that the wolf monster?

Yes, it's him.

Xing Er.

Xing Er!

Don't let the wolf monster run away!

Wolfie!

Wolfie!

Wolfie!

Wolfie!

Xing Er.

Don't move!

Wait for me.

How did you get injured?

I'm asking you

how did you get injured?

Did you do something wrong again?

You didn't behave?

Do you know?

Soldiers all over the city

are trying to catch you!

Everyone thinks you're the murderer!

You can't stay in Kuizhou anymore!

Tr...

...Trust.

I trust you.

You trust me.

We believe in each other.

Understand?

I did say

Xing Er and Wolfie

will trust each other forever.

But now,

what can trust

do for us?

You're in danger.

Doesn't your life matter anymore?

Leave!

Since you're in danger

leave Kuizhou!

Leave Wolf Hunt Mountain!

As far as possible!

Don't stay for me!

Listen up!

From now on,

I got nothing to do with you!

Understand?

Don't follow me!

You won't leave, will you?

I regret it!

I regret being your friend!

I regret that I brought you down from the mountain!

Don't you know

that you're a freak?

How can I be friends

with a freak?

Don't joke around!

If they hear about it,

they'll think that I'm your accomplice!

If you don't leave,

you'll get me involved too!

You'll drag me down!

Get lost!

Leave!

Wolfie is not monster.

Wolfie is a person.

Xing Er trusts Wolfie.

Xing Er.

Protect Wolfie.

Don't go.

Don't make a fool of yourself!

I made friends with you

because I was lonely.

I just wanted

to play with you!

A playmate who grew up with wolves.

Such a spectacle!

So special!

I don't need you anymore!

Get lost!

Get lost!

Leave!

If you don't leave,

I'll get someone to catch you

and your wolf mother

and your wolf brothers.

Get lost!

Go up the mountain.

His Majesty will be here in a few days.

If we don't catch the wolf monster,

the whole Kuizhou

will get dragged into this.

Yes, Sir!

Search!

Wolfie.

Don't ever return.

I'm incompetent.

I caught the murderer,

but I was careless

and let him get away.

This boy is not like a normal human.

His strength is impressive.

How about this?

Tomorrow I'll go with you

to hunt him down.

Father.

His Majesty is about to arrive.

You shouldn't leave Ma Mansion.

How about I lead the team

and help brother Feng Cheng?

I have engaged in a fight with

that savage.

I know about him.

Now it's time

for me to help.

Good.

You can

train yourself

by doing this.

But,

don't act on your own.

Listen to Feng Cheng's command.

Yes, father.

Rest assured.

I will follow

Assistant General Ma's orders

and catch that savage.

Go get yourself ready.

Young Master.

You've grown up.

You willingly share

Castellan's concern.

You forgot

that the monster

scared me to death.

If I can catch that monster

and take his head,

not only can I

make contributions in front of father,

I can also make

Ma Zhai Xing furious.

I'll kill two birds with one stone.

Wolfie,

you won't be there when I go to the mountain

and ring the bell.

You must hate me.

But it's okay.

What's important is

that you left Kuizhou.

Princess.

His Majesty will arrive today.

Castellan said

that you're allowed to leave the room

and welcome him.

But he hopes

that you wouldn't mention your relationship with Wolfie.

Or else His Majesty will become suspicious

and blame you for it.

Rest assured.

I won't let him worry.

But I will

find out the truth

and prove Wolfie's innocence.

Xiao Feng, what happened to you?

Are you unwell?

I don't know.

The other day, in the kitchen,

they used some kind of herb.

I feel nauseated

when I smell it.

A herb from the kitchen?

What kind of herb would that be?

I remember now.

It was Li Hu.

Li Hu?

Don't worry.

It's fine.

The smell of it

is prone to cause nausea.

It's just...

Xiao Feng.

I need to go somewhere.

Castellan.

Assistant General Ma has been out for some time now.

They will catch that savage.

You should return to the mansion and rest.

I'm worried that

if we can't catch the murderer,

His Majesty will bring his anger

upon the citizens of Kuizhou.

Ma Ying,

you're still impressive.

I have to shoot multiple times

in order to take your life.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Long Live Your Majesty.

Long Live Your Majesty.

I didn't know that Your Majesty would arrive early.

I'm sorry I didn't welcome you.

Please...

Did Xia Hou Yi die in your mansion?

I'm willing to take the punishment.

Go inside and report to me.

I'll decide

whether you're guilty or not.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Princess.

What are you doing in

the lieutenant's room?

The servants said that

these were left from the fight

between Wolfie and the lieutenant.

Princess.

Castellan forbade

anyone to enter the room

before His Majesty

comes to investigate.

Let's leave.

Princess.

Is there something wrong with this soup?

No.

This is just a normal

nourishing soup.

But this is what's clever about it.

A bare-handed savage

could silently

sneak into your mansion

and kill Xia Hou Yi.

If it hadn't been you who witnessed it in person,

I wouldn't have believed it.

Your Majesty, please forgive me for my dereliction of duty.

As a result, something regretful like this has happened.

I thought that I've caught him.

I didn't expect the murderer to have so much strength.

Not only did he escape the wooden cage using his bare hands,

he also fled the scene in seconds.

Is that true?

The world is so big

that we can rarely see such talent.

I want to go to

the mountain myself

to meet this boy

who behaves like a wolf.

Ma Ying.

Prepare the horse.

Let's go.

Yes, Sir.

Please, wait, Your Majesty!

Stop!

Back off!

I'm Ma Ying's daughter, Ma Zhai Xing.

I came to report to Your Majesty.

Zhai Xing.

Mind your manners!

Leave!

Father.

I have important things

to report to His Majesty.

Back off.

Your Majesty.

This case was not fully investigated.

Wolfie is innocent.

The murderer is someone else.

Zhai Xing.

Don't talk nonsense in front of His Majesty.

Ma Ying.

I want to hear what you've got to say.

If you have evidence,

I won't judge anyone wrongfully

or let the true murderer get away.

But if you were to fool me,

I will punish you heavily.

I understand.

Stand up and explain.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Stand up.

Your Majesty.

The day Lieutenant Xia Hou was assassinated,

after his dinner he ate some soup

which was spiced with Li Hu and Zan herb.

These are normal herbs.

Is there something strange about it?

This is what's clever about the murderer.

These two herbs are not toxic on their own,

so no one would suspect anything.

But if the two are mixed together,

in the right way as according to the rule of medicine,

the lieutenant

would become paralyze because his blood

would stream backwards.

Manager Wang Xiang.

At your service.

You're the mansion's

expert in medicine.

Is what the princess said

true?

Yes.

If Lieutenant Xia Hou died from poison

his body would leave

signs of poisoning.

To avoid this, the murderer used

the rule of medicine

so that the lieutenant

won't be left with signs of poisoning.

He would only lose his strength.

At this moment,

the murderer who couldn't have beaten the healthy lieutenant,

took his chance and strangled him.

The murderer predicted

that once the lieutenant's death is found out,

Ma family and Your Majesty

will investigate the murder.

So the murderer

put up a bluff.

He used the rumors of the wolf monster

which is spreading through the city

and created fake claw marks of wolves.

He led the people

to the misunderstanding

that the murderer was the wolf monster.

I'm sure the murderer did not expect

that his deceit would become reality

and the real Wolfie would appear.

What happened afterwards is what father saw.

You sound so sure of it.

So who

did it?

If it happened this way,

the murderer must be an expert in medicine

who lives in Ma Mansion.

Ma family uses the wrong people,

which led to such tragedy.

I beg Your Majesty,

father,

please investigate the whereabouts

of anyone who was in the medicine room that night.

Also,

Lieutenant Xia Hou had met less than 10 people

who fit the description before he was murdered.

We must investigate them

one by one to find the murderer.

Your Majesty.

I think

my daughter is somewhat right.

I'll send some people right away.

Soldiers!

There's no need.

I almost fooled

every single one of you.

I didn't expect

that I would

lose to a little girl.

Manager Wang,

why is it you?

It was me.

Arrest him!

On your knees!

No one in the whole Ma Mansion,

knows

medicine and food

better than me.

Wang Xiang.

You...

How could you be so ruthless

as to kill the royal family's relative?

You've brought injustice to my family!

My hatred against

Xia Hou Yi is irreconcilable.

I only regret that I didn't kill him soon enough.

You hold a grudge against him?

Back then, at the end of the former dynasty,

it had been agreed that if the Li family

gave the throne to you,

you wouldn't kill them.

Nobody expected that Xia Hou

would presume what you wished

and led the Li family

into the Royal Palace

and killed the whole family.

It's a great misfortune

that this bastard wouldn't die!

My plan was

to kill this bastard first

and then make everyone in Ma Mansion

suffer because of it.

Your Majesty.

I was careless.

I took in the rebels of the former dynasty.

Please punish me.

Ma Ying.

Your carelessness

almost brought disaster upon yourself.

Though the truth of Xia Hou Yi's case

has come to light,

you can hardly absolve yourself from blame.

I order you to redeem yourself through good services.

As for this person,

you know what to do.

I understand.

Let me escort you to the temporary palace.

No need.

Clean your house up.

Ma Ying.

Yes.

Your daughter is impressive.

The daughter outdoes

the father.

Farewell, Your Majesty.

Return to the palace.

Farewell, Your Majesty.

Zhai Xing.

I was wrong.

I was wrong about Wolfie.

Quick.

Go find your brother.

Stop the hunt.

Yes, father.

But I'm afraid Wolfie

has already left.

What if he didn't?

I'm worried

they'll hurt him.

Go.

Save him.

Quick.

Xing Er.

Drink this wine.

You'll be on your way.

If Castellan does the job,

I'm willing to accept my death.

What do you mean by that?

If it wasn't for

Castellan's mercy,

Princess Ping Yuan

and her son in her womb

would have been long gone.
