(Episode 98)

Honorable members of Baekdo Group,

and the VIP guests who are gracing us

with their presence,

my father built Baekdo with his bare hands,

and it runs in my veins like my own blood.

Today...

I'm going to reveal a secret

that is the most precious

and most shameful thing in my life.

Are you sure Kang Taejun is really here?

Yes, he told me to bring you.

Rather than being a domineering leader,

I will be a serving leader.

Rather than simply giving orders,

I will lead by example.

For the future of all of us,

I will work hard and do my best.

Thank you.

Congratulations, Ms. Park.

Thanks.

One of the guests who couldn't make it

sent you a congratulatory video message.

Would you like to watch it?

Shall we?

Just a moment.

I'll set it up.

Today is the day to celebrate

Baekdo's new leap forward.

We prepared champagne for everyone.

Please raise your glasses.

Baekdo is your future.

You are Baekdo's future.

Let's make a toast

to everyone's future!

Cheers!

Congratulations.

- Congratulations. / - Thank you.

Ms. Park, congratulations.

Thank you. You're so kind.

before I met my wife,

I was engaged to another woman.

However,

my parents were unhappy about her family

and refused to give us permission to get married,

and as a result,

I couldn't stay with her.

No way...

We both met and married other people,

and we became successful.

But recently,

a young woman came to see me.

She was

my daughter, born to the woman

I broke up with 32 years ago.

Turn that off. Turn that off right now.

I said turn it off! Can't you hear me?

Let it roll!

To the girl

who built up the courage to meet her father

after 32 long years,

I said things that ended up hurting her.

Now I am going to

bow my head and apologize to her,

and I am going to

acknowledge her as my daughter.

I have a question.

Who is your daughter?

Can you give us her name?

She's here.

My daughter is the only daughter of

Baekdo Group's chairwoman Park Yugyeong,

and her name is Jang Sejin.

What are you doing?

What do you want?

Ms. Jang Sejin,

is Lee Giman really your biological father?

When did you find out?

Does Jang Gyeongwan know about this?

When were your legs injured?

Don't touch me.

What the... Her legs are fine.

What's going on?

Don't follow me,

or I might kill myself.

Ms. Jang Sejin, wait!

- Just a minute! / - Wait!

It's not true. It's not.

Lee Nayeon, what are you doing?

He was bound to find out,

so I just helped him find out sooner.

Lee Nayeon...

It's too early for you to get worked up.

What?

Honey, no. That's not true.

Don't trust him.

He's putting on a show.

Sejin is your daughter.

He was just saying crazy things!

As you know,

my husband is resigning from his position

and nominating Hwigyeong, so what can we do?

You stop Hwigyeong.

Come up with a plan

to stop Hwigyeong from becoming chairman.

Why should I do that?

You embezzled money from the company.

Are you threatening me?

Yes, I am.

I'm threatening you.

I need money.

Lend to me from the Drama House construction fund.

Do you know what you're asking for?

That's embezzlement.

I'm asking to borrow it.

When I become chairwoman, I'll take care of it.

Until then,

keep it a secret from my husband, and do it.

Once everything works out,

I will give you AP Food.

Everyone is watching.

Do you want to add assault to the charges?

This is too pathetic.

Please stop ruining yourself.

What?

Ms. Park Yugyeong.

We need to ask you about Kang Taejun's

embezzlement charges, so come with us.

Is Lee Giman really

Jang Sejin's biological father?

Does Jang Gyeongwan know about it, too?

Tell us the truth.

Please give us a comment.

Please.

There's a box underneath the bed

in my mother's rooftop apartment.

The evidence is in there.

What kind of crazy turn of events is this?

Jang Sejin had another father?

But the craziest turn of events of today

was Jang Sejin's wheelchair show.

She was pretending to be paralyzed

when her legs were just fine.

Hey, it's crazy out there. It's crazy!

What's crazy?

Ms. Park was taken into the prosecutors' office.

This is the craziest turn of events yet.

So Mr. Park will become chairman?

Yes, that's a big possibility.

So much good news.

If he hears about the franchise agreement

you pulled off in China, Mr. Bae,

he'll be so happy.

Hey...

The mood is pretty fierce right now,

so let's just focus on our jobs.

We're busy with the charity work and all.

Okay.

Were you behind

what happened today?

How was it?

Did you like it?

That was it?

This was how you were going

to get Baekdo Group back for me?

What's wrong?

Wasn't it a fruitful day for us?

You got Baekdo back,

and I was able to take Park Yugyeong down.

Was it exciting for you?

You didn't care about my feelings.

All you needed was a dramatic show?

I'm sorry about that.

In order to get Baekdo back for you for good,

I had no other choice.

What do you mean by that?

Park Yugyeong

has solid support within Baekdo.

Unless I exposed

the truth about her like I did today,

she could re-establish herself

and come after you in the future.

But you've

lost sight of what's really important.

No, this is the most important thing for me.

It's not over yet for Park Yugyeong.

I'm going to destroy her

so she can never come back.

You can call it a show.

But my show isn't over yet.

You should've thought about Gyeongwan!

This is too cruel for him.

Why should I?

Why should I consider him?

Why?

Because you're in pain, too.

Right now.

No.

This is just discomfort that will soon pass.

Jang Gyeongwan was bound to find out.

All that anyone did

was bear what they had to bear.

(Sejin)

What?

Park Yugyeong was taken to the prosecutors' office?

What about the appointment ceremony? How did it go?

What awful timing.

How could things get messed up this badly?

What are you doing? Please leave.

Who gave you the right?

Who said you could be my father?

What right do you have to be my father?

You treated me like dirt,

so why are you calling yourself my father now?

It's okay. You may go.

I acknowledged you as my daughter to the press,

and this is the thanks I get?

I'm a victim, too.

Do you know what damage I'll suffer for this?

Acknowledge?

Acknowledge?

Who wants to be acknowledged by you?

What's your real motive?

What?

Now that my mom is Baekdo's chairwoman,

you want to take Baekdo, too?

Is that why you made such a ridiculous claim?

Baekdo's chairwoman?

You haven't heard what happened to your mom.

She's lost that position.

Your mom was taken away

to the prosecutors' office for embezzlement.

What?

Why? Why would she?

Go ask her yourself.

I shouldn't have given that press conference.

How can things get so twisted?

I'm going to be humiliated because of your mom.

How can she and her son-in-law

both end up at the prosecutors' office?

I must have been out of my mind.

What did you just say?

Her son-in-law is what?

Why are you so clueless?

Didn't you know your husband

is being detained by the prosecutors' office?

Detained?

How was that? Nice, right?

Yes, that was really nice.

Next time you come,

I'll make sure all your muscles can totally relax.

Okay. Thank you.

Thank you. Goodbye.

Careful.

Why are you lying here?

Why not go home and get some real rest?

How can I go home and rest

when my son is in jail?

I should earn some money here to give him.

It's you two.

It's a hot day, so why are you lying here?

Get up.

Be quiet. I don't need you.

What's this?

Jang Sejin's biological father's press conference?

What?

What did you say?

Jang Sejin

wasn't really Jang Gyeongwan's daughter.

What?

I don't know anything about that.

Why would I order my son-in-law to do that?

Your voice is recorded here,

and you're still denying it?

Kang Taejun fabricated that.

I had opposed his marriage to Sejin.

It seems that he held a grudge.

Come in.

Mr. Kang Taejun,

Ms. Park Yugyeong here

claims you fabricated this voice recording

ordering you to embezzle money from the company.

Is that true?

You can check and find out

if it was fabricated.

And if it was fabricated,

I'll admit everything

and pay for my crimes.

Excuse me for a moment.

How is your life in jail?

You should find out for yourself.

Soon you'll get personal experience.

You ungrateful wretch.

You conspired with Nayeon

and stabbed me in the back?

If I want to remove the knife you stabbed me with,

I should do my best, don't you agree?

Kang Taejun...

You were a loser living in poverty,

and I rescued you and gave you everything,

so how dare you try to destroy me?

Say it like it is.

You're the one who destroyed me.

You ordered me to embezzle money,

opened a fake account,

and wired the money to my mother's account.

That!

Didn't you do that to destroy me?

Something happened to Sejin.

Maybe you've heard already,

but her biological father gave a press conference.

I'm sure Sejin is in serious shock.

I have to get out and explain to her.

For Sejin's sake,

stop playing games, and give in.

Taejun,

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry, Taejun.

Forget it.

There's no need to apologize.

What do you mean?

Jang Sejin,

pull yourself together and listen carefully.

Your mother and I

are finished now.

I'm never going to forgive your mother.

I won't.

So you should accept that, too.

I'll apologize.

I'm sorry. I didn't know.

I had no idea that

my mom would do this to you.

I'm not coming back to you.

So pull yourself together

and let go of me.

That will make things easier for both of us.

What, what do you want me to do?

Why did you ask to see me?

Have a seat.

Are you satisfied now?

You called me here to ask me that?

I'm more curious about how you feel, Mr. Jang.

It must've been a huge shock for you.

Yes, I'm having a very hard time.

How could you...

Did you have to go that far?

Why?

You're worried about Sejin?

Or Sejin's mom?

That's some very special family love.

I hope you overcome this crisis

with that special family love.

Hwigyeong...

Do you love him?

I guess you do.

What does that have to do with this?

I'm glad

there's something I can do for you.

What do you mean?

I will...

I will divorce Yugyeong.

I'll take on everything from here,

so you should set everything aside

and find happiness. I'm begging you.

No.

It's too late for that.

That's not true.

You've done enough.

You should seek your own happiness.

After dealing with Sejin, I learned something.

If Hwigyeong and I

stay together, we'll only hurt each other.

I don't want to make things hard on him anymore.

There's no such thing as too late.

Don't lose

what's most important to you.

I don't know what's important right now,

but I know there's still something

that I must do.

Nayeon...

Ms. Park must be running late.

Yes.

Is Sejin home?

She is,

but I think you should go and see her.

That's enough. You're drunk.

Why do you care?

I don't know why Nayeon's dad

is ordering me around.

You should go to bed.

Why can't you be honest?

Stop pretending,

and go take care of your real daughter.

You had a hard time

raising someone else's daughter for 32 years,

so you should go and be Nayeon's dad.

Jang Sejin!

Jang Sejin...

Do I have to change my last name now?

Do I have to change my name to Lee Sejin now?

How funny.

Stop it. You are Jang Sejin.

Be honest.

Say that you're angry for being deceived

into raising someone else's daughter.

You know...

My biological dad, Lee Giman.

Isn't it a relief that he's not

some poor good-for-nothing?

Lucky me.

Sejin...

Go to Nayeon!

Come on.

Dad...

I'm sorry.

I faked it

to keep you from leaving.

My legs were fine,

but I pretended to be paralyzed.

I was afraid that

you and Taejun might leave me,

so I told a horrible lie.

Get some rest.

Are you going to divorce mom?

I called this emergency board meeting

because I couldn't put it off anymore.

I propose the dismissal of Chairwoman Park Yugyeong.

I nominate former chairman Jang Gyeongwan

as the next chairman.

No.

I've used up all my energy.

I have no passion or will left for Baekdo Group.

As the former chairman,

I nominate Mr. Park Hwigyeong

as the next chairman one more time.

Mr. Jang...

Ms. Park Yugyeong,

you're not going to answer any questions?

Talk to my lawyer.

I have nothing to say.

We have a witness, so if you keep this up,

we could just go for an arrest warrant.

A witness?

Bring the witness in.

Bring the witness to me!

Come in.

Sejin?

What are you doing here?

Have a seat.

Ms. Jang Sejin, you are Ms. Park's daughter

and Mr. Kang Taejun's wife?

Yes.

Ms. Park threatened

Mr. Kang and made him frame

Mr. Park Hwigyeong for breach of trust.

Is that true?

Is that true?

Yes, that's true.

How do you know?

I heard it with my own ears.

Sejin...

Did you know about Ms. Park

ordering Mr. Kang

to steal money from

the Shanghai Drama House construction fund?

Yes, I knew about it.

I heard it directly from my mom.

Jang, Jang Sejin...

We found the person behind the embezzlement,

and we believe you won't destroy evidence or flee,

so you will be tried without being detained.

Didn't I tell you?

No matter what you do for me,

my decision won't change.

How can you be so irresponsible?

Why are you acting this way?

I can't forgive my mom.

It wasn't Taejun who ruined me.

It was my mom.

Did Taejun and Jang Sejin get divorced?

Do you know how my mom died?

On the day of Yunae's accident,

you really didn't see her?

Lee Nayeon, to the very end...
