My mother is somebody
that has this sense of duality

of, like, fierce, beautiful,
glamorous, Mexican woman

that is, like, a sixth degree
black belt in martial arts.

And I always try
and bring that to my drag, too.

What about Olivia Lux?

Olivia is definitely
a combination

of my grandma, my mom,
and my two aunts.

They must be just
the most elegante.

They really are.

They raised me on,
like, music and movies.

Growing up, I always felt like I
knew stuff of, like, years past.

You have this
really cool duality

between being, like, youthful
and then also, like,

have this old soul
classic feel to you.

So I love that kind of balance.

like we can connect on

and that we can both kind of
bring out the essence in.

how are you feeling today
with these looks?

I was feeling
a little uncomfortable,

but the challenge is to be
as authentically you as I can,

and I think with the outfit,
the hair, everything,

that we're gonna come
from a place of love.

I think it is a risk,

that's what we're here to do.

It kind of feels good

My drag face,
when I started doing drag,

I was just, like, too womanly.

So I just needed something
that, like, was so not human.

I need to have this white mask
clown thing going on.

When I started doing drag,

it was pretty much
a mask for me.

I would not go out
unless I was in drag,

because people just thought

I was a normal, cisgender
gay man wearing a wig.

It's just such
an emotional rollercoaster

trying to figure
all that shit out.

For, like, a long time,
I didn't transition

because I was, like,
so feminine still.

People were always just, like,

putting me in a weird,
like, category,

like a secondary, like,

oh, you're just a bio queen
if you do it.

Like, oh, you're just this
if you do it.

My femininity held me back
from transitioning for so long.

I'm not, like, every
trans guy I've ever seen,

so strong and masculine.

I just was not that.

One day, I was just at brunch,

all of my guy friends
around me.

I realized they're so feminine,

so just because
I have a feminine side

does not mean
I'm not a guy, too.

If these bitches are guys,
I'm a guy.

The level of depressed
I was before my transition

was so crazy, it was so awful.

Like, the second I pinpointed
what it was and fixed it,

it just showed me, like,
how much power I had.

I just stopped caring.

and now I can look in the mirror
and be happy for once.

to add shoulder pads

so she can get these beautiful

But it did look

Tina Burner looked prettier

because I could see her face

Compared to some of

I don't think that they infused,

and so as a pair, they
did not work together for me.

They really worked together
as a team,

and they looked iconically
like the other,

and then they also did it
in a glamorous, high drag way.

They were just in sync
and amazing.

That ish was elevated.

Lovely being able
to see Utica not mug.

But it also had the humor.

It seemed like
she stood up straighter.

Yeah, that look actually
changed her entire demeanor.

You know I am a Halle Berry fan,

and that was B.A.P.S.
all the way.

And then Symone taking on
the quirkiness of Utica,

but doing it in a very elegant,
Martha Graham type of way.

Fabulous. It was a beautiful
editorial version of each other.

You couldn't get more different
body types or even styles,

and I just loved
how they pulled this off.

And it was fun.
