This is not a happy, peaceful house.

The house is gonna kill me.

He says, "If she is not already dead, she will be soon."

I mean, she thinks something here is trying to kill her.

It's kind of disheartening.

They're being possessed.

If I have to fight this thing to my death,

I know where I'm going.

I would not want to die anywhere near this place.

And I just feel fear.

My name is Amy Allan.

This is like

Grand Central Station for the dead.

I see dead people.

They have pain that they suffered.

I speak to dead people.

She hates them, hates them.

And they speak to me.

But there's only one way to know if my findings are real.

It's a demon.

It's Satan.

I rely on my partner.

I'm Steve Di Schiavi.

I'm a retired New York City homicide detective.

What was the body count? What happened?

And I know every person, every house has secrets.

I don't know if it's a demon or not

but it sure as hell looks like one.

It's my job to reveal them.

I feel like I'm crazy.

But Steve and I never speak...

We never communicate during an investigation.

...until the very end.

I want to show you this.

When we uncover if it's safe for you to stay.

I just don't want anything to happen to my mother.

So I'm back out here in Springfield, Ohio.

It's about 30 minutes outside of Dayton.

I got a call from a woman named Sharon.

Now she's been living with activity in her house

for over 20 years.

But recently it turned violent and dangerous.

She says it's threatening her health, her safety,

and her life.

Before Amy arrives, I look for any leading information.

Photographs, trophies,

and especially religious symbols can influence her findings,

so it's important that I cover or remove them all.

Once I'm finished,

the location will be ready for tonight's walk.

Boy. Boy. Boy. Boy.

I am hearing screams. Horrible screaming.

I'm hearing somebody saying, like,

"I don't want to die like this."

I think it's a woman.

This is not good.

So, Sharon, when we spoke on the phone it sounded like you

were at the end of your rope here.

What the hell is going on?

The paranormal that's going on in this house is unbelievable.

It's a fricking nightmare.

The house is gonna kill me.

All right. So let's back up a minute.

Who exactly lives in the house?

Right now it's myself and my husband, Joe.

Okay.

We raised our two daughters here.

Bethany is 33.

Olivia is 18.

So, Sharon, you had mentioned on the phone

that you've had activity pretty much

the whole time you've been here, right?

- Right. - Why are you calling us in now?

In the last couple of years it's gotten dangerous.

Give me an idea of what you're going through.

We hear banging, objects are moving around.

We're seeing shadow figures.

Physical attacks and my health is declining very rapidly.

- What are we talking about? - I have hives and blisters.

I've had my gall bladder removed.

I've had a heart attack.

What makes you think it's paranormal?

I went to 20 different doctors all over the state.

Nobody could figure out what was wrong.

So your husband, is he dealing with the same thing?

What's the story with him?

- He's a skeptic. - Okay.

He would rather bury his head in the sand

and pretend this isn't happening.

Is it causing problems in your marriage?

There's a lot of stress and tension, a lot of fighting.

Your daughters, do they realize what's going on here?

Yeah. They've both experienced things themselves.

- Okay. - They're basically terrified.

My whole goal in life was to raise my family

in a protective shell of love and peace and happiness.

This is not a happy, peaceful house.

What do you think is here?

I know for a fact that my mom is here.

That's a picture of my mom.

She died in '93.

What did she pass from?

She had a massive stroke.

What kind of woman was she?

My mom was a master manipulator.

She could make you feel guilty for tying your shoe.

You think she's causing any of these problems?

I don't know, but I don't think she would be the one to hurt me.

But you know, we're here. What are you hoping we can do?

I want my health back.

I want my life back.

We're gonna do our best, okay?

So there's a dead woman.

I see her sitting in that chair.

She's elderly.

I want to say she was like 70-something when she died.

She feels like a sense of responsibility

for this living person, who I believe is a female.

So she's made the choice not to leave, to stay.

I'm kind of thinking maybe they're seeing, you know,

somebody sitting there.

Always feeling watched from there, feeling the bad vibes.

Okay, Sharon, so what's going on outside here?

All over the property,

it's like somebody has always got their eyes on you.

Do you have any sense of what's watching you or who?

I have no idea.

It's creepy.

It's like there's someone standing right behind you

and at any given moment they're going to grab hold of you

and not let go.

Okay, anything else?

I was sitting in the dining room

and outside that window right over there,

I saw a man walk down that sidewalk.

We're talking like an apparition? Yeah.

All right, can you describe him for me?

He was about your height, had your color hair.

He was wearing a blue worker's

long-sleeved shirt, blue pants.

I see a bunch of garages.

You sure it couldn't be somebody coming out of there?

Those buildings weren't even there then.

Okay. So anything else?

We had taken my car to visit my daughter at college.

I was getting in the passenger side.

I was pushed while I was getting into the car.

Okay. Did you trip?

No, I got pushed.

When my head hit that dashboard, Steve,

I thought for sure I had broke my neck.

They did CAT scans, MRIs.

They said I had a traumatic brain injury.

So you think something from here followed you

to your daughter's college and did that to you? Yes, I do.

There's no place I can go that I'm safe.

It's gonna kill me.

There's a very large male here.

I don't like this guy.

He's extremely physical and hates women.

He has been ****

with my spine and my neck and my upper back.

It's extremely painful,

and the living are experiencing this.

I think they would feel immense amount

of physical pain and fear.

This is terrifying.

Like, I don't like this.

I feel like this guy was probably a predator

when he was alive.

I'm feeling bad things are happening in here.

Like, touching and violation.

The living would hear sounds, like moaning and stuff,

talking, having night terrors,

like, legitimate night terrors

from what's been happening.

- What's going on? - There's a lot of nightmares.

They're very vivid.

Describe what happens to you in these nightmares.

Basically the nightmares all have a common theme.

Whatever is chasing me in these dreams,

I know is bad and it's gonna hurt me.

Anything else?

Well I was laying in bed.

- Joe had already gone to work. - Okay.

And the next thing I know, the sheets lift up,

somebody crawls in bed with me.

So when this thing crawled into bed with you,

get any sense if it was, like, the weight of a man?

The pressure feels like it would be, yes. Okay.

Okay, anything else?

I have had my head stroked.

I have had my hip patted.

Okay.

I have had my stomach stroked.

- While in bed? - Yes.

Anything else physical like that I should know about?

I've been pushed in here, and just yesterday

I woke up feeling like someone literally had

just sucker-punched me right in the stomach.

All day I was in pain.

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. I mean, this is bad.

There's something definitely evil here.

There's something weird here.

Something weird here.

This living person is seeing this guy,

the big one who hates women.

I'm feeling like

I'm being punched in the stomach hard.

Like they've been just nailed right here.

Waking up, can't breathe.

So what the hell is going on?

It's -- There's a lot of pain.

I mean, there is a lot of **** pain.

Is he trying to give her a heart attack?

He says, "If she is not already dead, she will be soon."

So, Joe, I was talking with your wife earlier

and she had mentioned that you were pretty skeptical

about the whole paranormal thing.

Yeah, but here within the last couple years,

I have had a few experiences.

I've seen a couple shadow people.

Shadow figures?

In the hallway, yes.

Is it something that you see clearly,

like you make out what it is?

Yeah, it looks like about a 6-foot tall shadow person

going from my living room to our bedroom.

So you are having some kind of a paranormal experience

that you can't explain? - Yes.

Anything else going on with you guys?

Me and the wife's been fighting a lot.

You know, couples fight.

What makes you think it's the paranormal?

Everything is good one minute.

The next minute she's up in arms.

She just attacks.

When you guys go away or if you go visit your daughter

at college or anything, does it continue?

- It subsides. - Okay.

And then it seems like it gets worse when we come back.

Your wife is going through hell here

between being physically attacked by something

she can't see.

I mean, she thinks something here is trying to kill her.

It's kind of disheartening,

not knowing if I can...

- Sorry. - No, it's all right.

Yeah, there's a lot of stuff that's going on that

I don't know.

I just can't explain the feeling that I have

that I can't help anybody out.

There's a lot of anger.

There's a lot of fighting.

Who's fighting?

Living people.

This man and the woman here.

Is this something related to paranormal happening here?

More than likely due to the paranormal.

Someone's claiming, you know,

that this or that or the other thing happened,

and the other person is like, "No. I'm over it."

Doesn't believe.

I'm taking it from the fighting that this person's leaving,

already kind of on their way out.

I think the woman is dying.

Olivia, I was talking to mom today.-

And your mom said the reason you don't want to stay here

is because of the experiences you've had.

- Is that right? - Yes.

I ask everybody that I know if I could stay with them

before I end up staying here. - All right.

Can you tell me about some of your experiences? Yes.

I was looking in the mirror and behind me

I saw, like, an older woman.

And I turned around to see if, like, there was

an actual person behind me, and she, like, lunged at me.

Now, your mom told me she thinks your grandmother may be here.-

Is it possible that that's who it was? Yeah.

It looked like her but a younger version.

All right, so you saw this apparition of a woman.

Anything else?

I see several shadow figures in my room,

several shadow figures crossing the hallway between my room

and my parents' room all the time.

So, Olivia, mom was saying that she actually thinks

that whatever is in this house is trying to kill her.

I mean, do you agree with that?

It wouldn't surprise me, honestly.

Whatever is here, it's definitely not good.

I'm seeing this really tall shadow thing.

I think it was a man at one point.

Can you describe it?

Very thin, long legs.

He just comes over and, like, engulfs me.

This thing is supposed to work for death, but it's gone rogue.

It likes to kind of torture people who have just died,

keeping them kind of trapped in, like, their death state.

Not allowing them to move on.

Basically all the opposite of what death usually does.

And instead it learns to feed,

and it grows.

Does it affect the living in any way?

I wouldn't put it past the living

seeing it on occasion.

When you're exposed to it, you get illnesses.

I think they would die.

Bethany, from what I understand,

you actually grew up in this house.

- Correct? - Yes.

We moved out here when I was 13.

What were some of the things you experienced?

The major one is when I come over to the house,

I feel emotionally and physically drained.

Okay. Are you feeling that now? Yeah.

It feels like the life is being sucked out of me.

All right. So you're feeling drained.

Anything else going on?

When I lived here I had a very terrifying nightmare

where something chasing after me.

I was trying to get away but I actually fell out of bed

and broke my shoulder.

They said that I was very lucky

that I didn't break my neck, the way I fell out of bed.

So when I talked to your mom, her emotional state

is pretty...

She's not my mom anymore.

In what way has she changed?

She is quick to get upset.

Right now she doesn't have a lot of control over that.

I think the entity has more control over it.

It's heartbreaking.

I'm getting, like, brutal ****, man.

Somebody being tossed around the room like a rag doll

and feeling the pain, the neck.

My **** god.

I think it's a woman.

- That it's happening to? - Yes.

It's horrible, horrible, horrible pain.

The shadow thing is the one doing this.

Whatever it is goes inside of them and then leaves

and then goes inside of them and then leaves.

What exactly do you mean, he goes inside

of them and leaves?

They're being possessed.

Also, it's not gonna be pleasant

for anybody around this person

because they're, you know, turning into something else,

mentally, personality-wise.

How might this affect someone in the long run?

Well, I'm just kind of seeing, like, a breakdown of cells...

mutation of cells, which, you know,

obviously can cause different kinds of diseases or illnesses.

I'm feeling sick, really sick.

Now we did a case in Springfield last year,

so I already have some connections here.

I just got a call from my old friend

Natalie Fritz, a genealogist.

Says she came up with something that's going to help me out.

Turns out there used to be a church on Sharon's land.

That is, until a deacon who ran it lost his mind.

Natalie, it's good to see you again.

So I know there was a church on my client's property.

What can you tell me about it?

Well it was a Seventh Day Baptist church,

and it was built in 1825

by the original owner's of your client's property.

And they also donated the land to build a cemetery.

Okay, so what do we know about this family?

Well, the Lippencott family, they bought the land, 1819.

And the patriarch of the family's name

was Samuel Lippencott,

and he brought the family here from New Jersey

because he was looking for religious freedom.

This guy, Samuel, donates land to build the church

and also have the grave site for the congregation.

I mean, how involved is he in the church?

Well, the church was very important to him.

He was a deacon there.

So is this the deacon that lost his mind?

Yes.

He was a big part of the church for 25 years,

but in the last few years of his life,

he was showing signs of dementia.

He was having delusions,

and he was no longer able to be a part of the church.

He ended up dying on the land

just a few years later in 1853 at age 93.

All right, so was he buried in the land that he donated?

Yes. Several members of the Lippencott family

were buried there. - He's dead.

What happens with the church?

Well, he was kind of the glue that held the church together,

so after his death the congregation dwindled.

And by 1905 there was nobody left,

so the church was abandoned.

It's now a public school on that property.

All right. So the church is gone,

but what happened to the cemetery?

Well, when the school was built in 1923,

they dug up the bodies and they moved them

about a quarter of a mile away.

So can I assume that they took Samuel

and the rest of the Lippencott family to the new grave site? - Yes.

I have this dead person with me who I think is a male.

All I hear is his voice, and he keeps saying,

"In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost."

And it's, like, nonstop.

He won't stop.

And I hear, "There is no God here."

And then I see two graveyards have been lost.

So I'm heading over to meet a lieutenant

from the sheriff's department.

He did some digging for me and came up with a homicide

a couple of thousand feet from Sharon's house.

Now the victim got shot execution-style

in the back of the head,

but he says I'm going to be surprised

by who pulled the trigger.

So Lieutenant, thanks for helping me out with this case.

What do we know about the victim?

The victim's name is Kenneth Bradley.

He was an auto mechanic.

Worked at one of the car dealerships downtown here.

Okay. Obviously, this guy gets whacked.

What happened?

So on the morning of January 9th, 1980,

he doesn't show up for work at the car dealership.

- Okay. - His boss gets concerned,

so our deputy goes out to the residence

and finds Kenneth laying on the floor of the front room,

faceup, dead with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

Okay, so you had mentioned

that I was going to be surprised by who did this.

A gunshot wound to the back of the head

sounds like a professional hit,

but the only suspect that we had was his recent ex-wife Dorothy.

Did they ever catch up to the wife?

Yeah, they located her with a friend

and ended up bringing her in for questioning.

She explains to them that her and Kenneth

were arguing all night long,

and in the early morning hours, she hears a loud noise.

She looks through the doorway after hearing this loud noise

and sees Kenneth laying on the floor of the front room.

So she puts her coat on and leaves the house.

That's her story?

Yes, that's her story.

Obviously, it's pretty thin and weak,

so the detectives arrest her,

charge her with aggravated murder and put her in the jail.

But the prosecutor's office

amends the indictment against her

for aggravated murder to a lesser charge

of voluntary manslaughter. - So help me out here.

I never heard of voluntary manslaughter.

Voluntary manslaughter is one of those charges

that's kind of unique to Ohio.

Someone, the victim does something or commits some act

that would incite a normal person

into using deadly force.

There is a possibility

that there may have been some kind of abuse going on.

- Okay. - She may have just snapped.

Okay, so now the charges get reduced really low now.

What does she do?

Dorothy pleads guilty to the voluntary manslaughter

and is sentenced to 4 years to 25 years,

but in actuality she only serves two years in the penitentiary

and the remainder of the time on probation.

So she literally got away with murder?

I'm seeing this woman here.

Something happened here.

I'm seeing her reaching for the door.

This woman is like, "I don't want to die this way.

Please, god, no. Somebody help me."

I'd say this is, like, '80s, '90s.

And she's crawling on the ground.

The one guy, the one big dead guy has a chain

to the neck of the chick, and he's got me.

Yeah, this **** got me good.

This angry guy who hates women, he's massive like a fricking,

like a brick wall, you know?

He's a big guy.

He's got a stomach.

He's white, he's bald, and he's got a shotgun rigged,

and he blows his head off.

And I keep hearing, "crimes, punishment, lies."

This is somebody who died a bad death.

So far I've got a client terrified something in her house

is trying to kill her on a property

that used to have a cemetery

where all the bodies were dug up and moved,

but I want to see if there's anything else.

Searching through old records,

I find a deadly plane crash in 1941.

Turns out it happened about a mile from Sharon's property.

So I put a call into a local historian

who knows all about this crash.

He says the accident was incredibly violent,

and the victims never stood a chance.

So Dr. Taylor, thanks for helping me once again on a case.

So the plane crash that happens by my client's property,

what can you tell me about that?

There's an airfield 10 miles west of your client's house

called Patterson Field.

This is 1941.

The U.S. is ramping up its military capability,

especially its aviation capability.

- Right. - On November 18th, 1941,

this B-26, which was similar to the plane behind us here,

flew out of Patterson Field with three men on board.

- This is a photo of a B-26. - All right.

So what went wrong?

Well, they're flying at about 15,000 feet,

and for some reason the plane lost power

and began spiraling down.

And then it just nosedived into a corn field

about a mile from your client's house.

Rattled windows two miles away.

- Really? - Yeah.

It created about a 10-foot deep crater, 30 feet wide.

The flames reached as high as the trees.

The first man on the site tried to reach the pilots.

He reached one of them, grabbed hold of him

to try to pull him away from the fire

and as he pulled him away he realized that he was dead.

His body was literally coming apart.

Wow. Was this an isolated incident?

The B-26 already had a reputation for accidents,

and a month later another B-26 went down, killing five men.

And so by the end of the year it had a reputation

for being a plane that was not only accident-prone,

but a widow-maker was the term they used.

- Really? - Yes.

There's a dead guy in there.

He's all **** up.

There's just pain.

From head to toe, there's pain.

Pain.

I don't think he understands what's happening.

He is broken,

and I see blood and...

mangled, bloody mess.

So do you have any idea what happened to him?

I mean, there's a couple of things that could've happened.

One possibility is, like, being in a car accident

or being in an airplane accident.

Do you know why he's here?

All I know is that he is stuck here

because of this bad death.

I don't think it's good for people to be around him.

He's in a very bad death state,

and if you meld too much with him it could hurt you.

I saw several disturbing things on my walk, but two stood out.

First, the large dead man attacking a living woman.

He's huge, bald, got a big head

and he's holding on to this chick.

She's on her knees wearing a collar, but it's like steel.

Like, it's metal.

His head was kind of a little bit bigger.

Next, I describe a tall shadow thing.

So he's got these things, like roots,

and they're big and, like, bulbous.

He gets that stuff on the person when they die.

He's all mangled.

I don't know how he died, but he's a mess.

Amy, is that what you saw?

Yes, that's what I saw.

Now that Amy and I have completed our investigations,

we're ready to reveal our findings to each other

and our clients for the first time.

So Amy, I'd like you to meet Sharon and her husband, Joe.

They've had activity in this house for over 20 years.

These two don't know exactly what happened,

but a few years back something changed.

Now activity is violent and aggressive,

and Sharon is convinced that whatever is here,

if we can't stop it, it's gonna kill her.

So now that Amy knows who you guys are,

I'll ask her to describe her walk for us.

The first deceased person I encountered

was in the master bedroom, and it was a female.

But I did get that she died in her 70s or 80s.

I got that the living woman in that bedroom

knew this dead woman somehow.

This dead woman feels responsible

for the living female here.

She told me she made the choice to stay and watch over her,

but now that has made her angry and resentful.

She told me she resents this living woman

because she feels she shouldn't be responsible for her.

- You okay? - Sorry.

No, don't be.

Listen, Sharon thought her mother might be here.

From the time I was 14,

I've basically took care of my mother.

I gave up everything

to be there and take care of her.

And to find out that she's resentful

for watching over me after all I did,

it really makes me mad.

Now here's a picture of Sharon and her mother.

Do you think the older woman back there is Sharon's mom?

Yeah.

So is the mom interacting with them? Yes.

I would believe that you would potentially feel

watched all the time,

and possibly see an outline of a female on occasion.

I'm constantly watched.

I constantly feel like there's someone right on my back.

Now when I spoke to Olivia,

she thought she saw an apparition of an old lady

that she thought might have been your mom.

I wish she'd move on.

I suffered enough.

The next dead person that I encountered was a male.

Very big, very tall, very menacing.

He does have perversions.

When I saw this dead male, he was holding a chain.

The chain led to this dead woman.

He hates her,

and I saw him beating her senseless.

I got that this happened at some point in the '80s,

and I heard the woman say, "I don't want to die this way."

Some of the things you said remind me of a couple

who used to live down the block from here.

Now their names were Kenneth and Dorothy Bradley.

On January 8th, 1980, the two of them got into a huge fight.

We don't know exactly what went down,

but she wound up shooting him in the back

of the head execution-style.

- What? - And here's an article.

You said this guy hates and beats women.

Now we've got no proof of this, but authorities believe

Kenneth was beating up on Dorothy,

and that's what caused her to snap and kill him.

Dorothy plead guilty to manslaughter charges

and wound up serving just two years.

He is active in the master bedroom.

He did show me him touching women inappropriately.

I've had my hair caressed.

I've had my hip patted.

Had my stomach rubbed.

Obviously he was very physical and violent.

I'm feeling like

I'm being punched in the stomach hard.

Like they've been just nailed right here.

I come up out of the bed at 4:30 in the morning.

I felt like I had been slugged in the stomach.

I was nauseous until I got out of the house.

And one of the scariest experiences

that Sharon had actually happened

visiting your daughter at college, right?

- Yes. - Tell Amy what happened.

I was stepping off a curb onto the running board of my SUV.

I was pushed and went jaw-first into the dashboard.

I ended up in the hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

It pisses me off pretty bad.

I did have a sketch done of what I saw

when he presented to me.

Holy ****.

Wow.

That's exactly how it feels.

That's exactly how it feels.

I feel like I'm constantly under attack.

So what else did you encounter?

So I walked into the middle bedroom,

and what I saw was a female

being kind of thrown around the room.

This thing that looked like a shadow

was taking over this living woman

but very temporarily, attacking and controlling

and then leaving her body.

When this living woman would get possessed like this,

she would have personality and behavioral changes.

This is dangerous.

It can cause you to lash out

and do things to yourself or others.

And the other thing is that it can really have

a detrimental effect on a living body

that can lead to a lot of different

kind of long-term potential illnesses like cancers,

things like that.

Actually everything you're describing sounds a lot

like what Sharon's going through.

I have fibromyalgia.

I just had a surgery,

and within two weeks I had developed a cyst,

and I went back to the surgeon.

He did a biopsy and it's precancerous.

Now your mood swings.

A lot of times, you know, I'll come home

and all of a sudden she's off the deep end,

you know, wanting to tear my throat out.

Joe's not the only one noticing her mood swings.

Her daughter, Bethany, when I spoke to her,

she basically said Sharon's becoming

a totally different person, negative and angry.

Do you feel that that's what you've been like at times?

There are times, yeah.

And when I get mad, I get mad at everybody.

'Cause I want to get my control back.

So do we think she's being possessed at certain points?

To some extent, yes.

All right, so what is this shadow thing

that's possessing her?

It's a deceased male

who became this really tall shadow thing.

This is, like, the major issue here, when he died.

I believe he was supposed to become

a representative for death and instead went rogue.

What he does, instead of moving people

on to where they need to go,

he kind of keeps people trapped in their death state.

It did look odd.

It was, you know, it was a dark black shape,

extremely long arms and legs.

Everybody is seeing the shadow figures.

- Yeah. - Right.

Black shadow walks between the master bedroom

and the back bedroom constantly.

And Joe, you've seen him as well, right?

Yes, in the hallway, same,

walking between the two back bedrooms.

This thing emits, like,

just this general negative, nasty energy.

I think that you could feel obviously

extremely negative feelings from it, down, depression,

some things of that nature.

Yeah, depressed.

But it's all kind of coming together

on what could be happening here.

I had a sketch done of the shadow thing.

My god.

Wow.

What the hell is that thing?

So what happened was he died and at the moment of his death,

he literally became this thing,

and he started collecting people.

I'm curious as to what would happen

if they didn't call us in?

The worst scenario is that you would die on the property

and that you would be trapped or prevented from moving on.

I would have never thought that this could happen to my family.

I mean all these other houses out here

and it has to end up on my property? Really?

If I have to fight this thing to my death,

I know where I'm going.

I'm going to Heaven.

He may kill me, but he's not gonna hold me.

I've had enough.

It's about time that this family gets some peace.

So Sharon, you called us in because you thought

your life was in danger here.

Unfortunately for you, dying in the house

is the least of your worries.

So now for the obvious question, is there anything you can do

to fix this, or do you need to get the hell out of here

before it's too late?

For that answer I'm gonna turn it over to Amy.

So I want to give it a really good shot

as far as you being able to live here.

I have a very eclectic team.
