There's gotta be a poltergeist.

Whatever's in this house is targeting my children.

I have seen shadowy figures.

It can touch the living people and they can see it.

In every one of the dreams I'm killing the people

with the same knife.

He can make them angry enough to kill.

My gut is like: get out.

Panic, panic, panic.

My name is Amy Allan.

I'm seeing, like, blood.

The house just feels bad.

I see dead people.

This man is completely insane.

I speak to dead people.

Okay, she didn't like it in there.

And they speak to me.

He likes to twist that knife.

But there's only one way to know if my findings are real.

Something paranormal is trying to kill them.

I rely on my partner.

I'm Steve DiSchiavi.

I'm a retired New York City homicide detective.

Now does he die right there on the spot?

And I know every person, every house, has secrets.

I think it's trying to steal my soul.

It's my job to reveal them.

You ever get touched like that again?

But Steve and I never speak.

We never communicate during an investigation.

Until the very end.

I'm as stunned as you guys are.

When we uncover if it's safe for you to stay.

I don't want anything to happen to my daughter.

Or time to get out.

His goal is to kill you guys.

I'm out here in Winchester, Kentucky,

it's about 30 minutes east of Lexington,

I got a call from a mom named Heather.

Now she sounded real bad,

says something in her house is attacking her kids

and changing her husband's personality.

She says if Amy and I can't fix the problem,

she's gonna wind up divorced or dead.

Before Amy arrives, I clear the area

of any leading information.

This home has a lot of photos,

dream catchers,

and religious icons,

so it's important I cover or remove them all.

When I'm done the location will be ready for tonight's walk.

This is very strange: the whole earth shook.

And then I'm just seeing bodies.

People are buried here.

It's a very hard life, if you live at this location.

So, Heather, when we talked on the phone

you sounded real emotional,

like you're going through hell here.

Yes.

We've had a lot of activity go on in the house.

Whatever's in this house is targeting my children

but I want it, I want it gone.

Do you know anything about the house or the property?

Yes, the previous owners actually died in the house.

Okay, I'll look into that.

Who lives in the house with you?

This is a photo of our children.

That is my youngest daughter Annalysa, she's 10 years old,

my husband Jonathan, myself, my oldest daughter Ayliana,

she is 11, my son Jonathan, he's three,

and my mother in law, Jennifer.

Okay, so Heather do me a favor and give me your list

of what you guys are going through here.

We're hearing voices, we hear footsteps.

We have objects moving on it's own.

We see apparitions, we have mood changes

and we have physical attacks.

On the phone you mentioned the activity

is affecting your marriage.

Yes. In what way?

He's been very moody.

The slightest thing will, he'll blow up

and start screaming at everyone.

I mean, it's gotten to the point

where I've wanted to take the kids and leave.

Does he have a drinking problem?

No, he doesn't drink, he doesn't do drugs.

What makes you think that's just not something going on

with him, and has something to do with the paranormal?

When we leave the house, we have no issues.

We're as happy as can be.

But the second we walk into this house,

it's like something takes over him,

and he's a completely different person.

So, what are you hoping we can do for you?

I want my kids to be in a safe environment,

and I want my marriage back.

We've had a dream relationship until now.

What if Amy tells you,

"Listen, you gotta get the hell out of here,

this place is out of control.

You're not gonna survive." What would you do then.

Burn this house to the ground.

I'll leave and they can have this damn property,

if that's what it is.

There's an older male, late 60s, early 70s.

He is the main person, dead-wise, who's here.

He owned this property.

Maybe even in the 2000s.

He's angry, a very angry person.

Do you know if the living have any experiences with him?

Yeah, I think the living would hear him,

like, yelling at them, stomps around back there a lot.

And so hard that he makes the furniture shake.

Do you know what he wants?

I know with some of the people here,

he doesn't agree with their religion, or philosophy.

He's trying to save them.

Okay, Heather, so let's talk about your experiences.

I hear voices all throughout the house.

Well, are you sure it wasn't a radio,

a television you guys left on?

Checked for TVs, I've checked for radios,

and nothing is ever on.

Okay, anything else happen?

We were doing the dishes, and a coffee mug flew

and about hit my daughter and I on the head.

These cups look pretty secure on here.

I mean, this is not gonna just come flying off.

Could it have bounced and went flying across,

or did it just seem like it shot across?

It shot across.

Your husband wasn't raging that day,

or anything like that? Nope.

That could have been really, really dangerous.

All right, anything else?

I've seen shadows back here.

I see walking to the point where

I close my bedroom door every night,

so I don't have to see it.

What did he look like to you? He's pretty tall.

It's about the size of a grown man.

But I can't make out a face or anything.

I just see black.

I mean, is it possible it could be somebody

actually walking back there.

Whenever I check, there's nothing ever out there.

So have you given any thought as to what

may be causing the activity here?

I visited the Queen Mary,

and my husband's actually been to Waverly Hills.

So, supposedly these are two pretty haunted locations.

Yes.

Well, you know, that's good to know.

We'll tell Amy and see what she thinks.

The angry old man, he likes this area.

He is trying to talk to the people here.

Mostly by yelling, stomping around.

So it makes, you know, things move.

He wants to blind them because they don't see things

the right way, that they're not living

the right kind of life.

Basically, like if you take that sense of sight away,

then maybe they'll look inside themselves.

He's like: I'm just trying to save people.

What the hell?

What is it?

Somebody getting strangled.

Is the old man doing this?

No, I'm thinking: okay, then it's gotta be poltergeist.

Okay, how old are you, Ayliana?

I'm 11.

11, and you are?

10.

So I was talking to Mommy earlier,

and she was telling me about some really scary stuff

that's going on in the house.

Can you tell me about an experience you had?

I was doing the dishes,

and I set a butter knife down on a towel,

and next thing I knew, it flew down and hit my foot.

Okay, you sure you didn't bang into it?

So, Annalysa, has anything like that ever happened to you?

Yes.

I was asleep and no one was in the room,

and the jewelry box just flew off my bed-stand,

and it woke me up.

Were any of the animals near?

No, the door was shut.

Okay, so anything else?

Yes, I've seen a woman ghost, bowing.

Like standing and bowing over Ayliana,

while she was sleeping.

Were you scared?

Yeah.

So when I was talking to Mom, she was saying Daddy,

his temper goes real crazy sometimes.

He changed a lot when we moved here.

He did?

Sometimes if he, like, yells at us,

he like, gets really, really mad and stuff,

and it kind of like freaks me out sometimes.

Sometimes daddies get mad

because their kids aren't behaving.

Are you being good?

Yes!

Okay, just checking.

So, are you afraid to be here?

Would you wanna move from here?

Okay.

There's a hidden person or thing.

The only way I can see it is as a tuxedo shirt.

But it has no legs, no head, you know, no hands.

When this thing is around, there's also these little,

black, snake-like things,

like, long, black shadow snakes.

And they're all over.

There's probably maybe five of them.

It can touch the living people, and they can see it.

They probably think they're seeing shadow figures.

I feel a lot of panic in here, a lot of fear.

And I'm hearing: terrorized.

Terrorized.

There's real, real darkness in here.

These long, snake-things come in here.

And it's physically assaulting them.

Like, there's at least two people in here.

So those things are going in their ears,

and it can mess with their brain.

I think the living brought these things here.

The living went somewhere they weren't supposed to go.

It's an attachment -- they brought it home.

I literally wanna run out of here.

This is really bad.

Heather called us in because she feels

the paranormal activity here has the kids in danger.

I mean, do you agree with that?

Yes.

Okay, what kind of danger you think they're in?

Somebody's gonna hurt 'em.

Physically?

Physically hurt 'em, yeah.

Okay, okay.

So, as far as experiences,

have you seen anything or heard anything?

I've seen an apparition of a female,

sitting on the bed in Annalysa's room.

What did she look like?

She had on a white dress, and she was,

you could see through her.

Okay, how old do you think she was?

50, 51?

All right, so I wanna talk about something else.

Heather mentioned to me that her husband,

your son, his personality has changed.

Have you noticed that?

Yes, very drastic, it's changed.

If he's away from here, he's fine.

Okay. He comes home,

his whole attitude changes toward everybody.

Okay, does this scare you? Yeah.

Thanks.

I know; it's tough to talk about your son.

Something's got a hold on him.

And it's not good.

My God!

Immediate headache, horrible headache in here.

There's way, way too much energy in here.

This person is not stable.

This is a female, yelling and crying and screaming,

and losing their mind.

Everything in her body is misfiring, from A to Z.

Mentally, physically; I think she has,

abilities, as far as psychokinesis,

and all of those components are adding up to there being

poltergeist phenomena around.

Does this pose any kind of threat

to the other living here?

Yeah, if she was pissed at them.

So Jon, I talked to your wife, kids, and everybody,

and your wife seems to think that the kids are

in danger here, because of the activity.

Do you agree with that?

Yes, I do.

With the things flying at the kids and stuff,

one of them is gonna get hurt.

Okay, so now what about you? Do you have any

personal experiences you can tell me about?

I had a decorative cow skull that was hanging

on the wall in the dining room, and it flew off the wall.

At first, I thought, well, maybe it was just,

you know, the nail gave way or something.

I put it back up, but it did it again.

Okay, I can't figure out how that could happen.

So, anything else?

Now, there was a time me and my wife were arguing.

She took off and she slammed the door in my face.

I grabbed that doorknob and yanked that door open,

and when I did, it felt like somebody shoved me,

as hard as they could.

Now, did it feel like two hands,

or did it just feel like a force?

It felt like two hands.

Like two hands.

What did you do?

I just kind of high-tailed it out of the room.

I ain't gonna lie, it was scary.

There's a dead guy out here.

He looks like a cowboy.

This guy is on a horse, running around,

and around, and around, and he always had this knife.

And then, he stretched out his arm and cut.

So I'm thinking that some people are getting cut here.

He can make people feel nauseous.

And he causes a sense of agitation and irritability.

So, Jon, talking to Heather, she told me that she feels

your personality has totally changed since you moved here.

You agree with that?

Yes, the slightest things set me off.

There's no reason for me to be yelling and screaming

like I am, like that, just out of control.

So, describe what happens when this rage comes over you.

The best way I can describe it

is like an out of body experience.

Okay.

I have no control over what's going on.

It just takes over and I just get really irate.

It's actually causing trouble between me and my wife,

because she can't talk to me without me just flipping out.

I spoke to your girls,

and they're afraid to tell you anything.

They're afraid you're gonna rage on them.

That makes me feel horrible, because what father

wants to hear that their kid is afraid of them?

All right, anything else?

I've been having really vivid night terrors.

Can you describe what these dreams are about.

Just, killing people.

Just out of control, just really violent.

And in every one of the dreams,

I'm killing the people with the same knife.

What do you think is going on here?

Do you have any clue, any thoughts?

A part of me does believe that something

is trying to destroy my family.

Okay.

I think the cowboy guy hangs out here a lot.

So I think that living people would

have a lot of experiences with him.

They might feel senses of panic and urgency to get out.

It's making me feel sick again.

So, I'm thinking like maybe he could cause a heart attack,

aneurysm, but then he said accidents too.

Like getting into accidents like where they could die.

He's mad.

He could make somebody kill somebody else.

So Heather told me the former owners died in her house.

So I called a local historian who says she's right.

Not only that, she found even more deaths on the property.

So it sounds like this could

definitely help my investigation.

So I know the previous owners

of my clients' property died in the house.

What can you tell me about that?

Their names were Rayburn and Wanda Pittman.

They bought the property in '83, and actually,

a couple years later, built the house

that your clients actually live in now, in 1985.

Okay, what do you know about them?

Rayburn was a master sergeant in the US Army.

His wife, Wanda, also worked for the Army

as a computer operator.

They were pretty religious and attended a small,

local Baptist church in the area.

All right, so, who dies first?

Rayburn dies first.

He is diagnosed in the early 2000s

with chronic lung disease.

And in February of 2009, he actually dies

in the home of respiratory failure.

Okay.

He was only 67.

All right, so Rayburn is dead; when does Wanda pass?

Wanda is diagnosed in 2013 with stomach cancer,

and she actually dies in the home, as well, in April.

She was 72.

So, Jen, you mentioned on the phone

there were a couple other deaths; what were those?

Well, actually, there was another married couple

who both died on the property as well.

And their names were Lena and Robert Bush.

So what do we know about that couple?

Well, they bought the property in 1902.

Lena is actually diagnosed with gastric carcinoma as well,

in 1939; she only lives for about two months

after the diagnosis, and she dies on that property.

Now, what about the husband?

He stays there for another six years,

and in 1945, he also dies on the property of heart failure.

So we have one married couple that actually dies

in my clients' house.

Right.

And then we have another married couple that died

on the property in the early 1900s.

What's interesting to me is the two women

both dying of the same disease.

Right.

Which is not something you hear too often.

No.

I don't like this dead cowboy.

Do you know if he has any connection to the property?

A very long time ago, I think he owned it.

He was in the military.

I know that he did bad things.

He killed a lot of people when he was alive,

but it was more like situations where you have to.

Now he does it because he enjoys it.

And then there's two bodies out there.

And these are like his trophies.

I think actually those are representations

of people that he's killed since he's been dead.

He killed them because they were on his land.

It seems like they lived here.

Can he still kill the living?

Yeah, he's quietly doing this to people.

I'm seeing like, accidental deaths.

Or illnesses.

But they're not; he's doing it.

So I just got a call from a local crime author.

He did some digging around for me and found out

the most famous homicide in this town's history

happened just a thousand yards from Heather's house.

Not only that, the guy who pulled the trigger

was related to one of the former owners.

So, professor, I appreciate you meeting with me.

I wanna hear all about this homicide, but first:

who's the killer, and how is he connected

to my clients' property?

The shooter was Napoleon Bonaparte Cavari.

He was the cousin of Benjamin Cavari,

who was the man who would have owned your clients' property

there in the early 1900s, at the time all this went down.

Okay, so what led up to the homicide?

Napoleon had been committed to the Lexington Asylum

by a local judge, but he is released as cured in 1909.

That same year, on August 4, Napoleon attended

a revival meeting at Dunnaway Methodist Church,

and that's where this goes down.

So, the homicide, what happened?

Napoleon was at the church,

there were several other people there,

a 19 year old fella by the name of Harvey Ewan,

and also a fella by the name of Larkin Gibson.

We think that they may have teased him

or said something objectionable about his time

in the asylum, and things went downhill from there.

And we know at some point Napoleon pulled out a gun

and shots were fired.

Ewan takes a round in the neck that severs his spine.

He was instantly killed, would have gone down,

you know, like a sack of potatoes.

And the other fellow, Larkin, gets shot in the arm.

All right, does he get arrested?

Cavari leaves the church,

but turns himself in the next day.

I assume he goes on trial.

Yes, and what he says is that Ewan

came at him with a knife, so he fired in self defense.

And they bought it, and so he was acquitted.

What happens to this guy?

He stayed in the neighborhood, but curiously,

the 1930 census says that he was once again

a patient at the Eastern State Hospital.

That's tragic.

I see this crazy man come forward.

And he's completely nude.

The only thing he kept saying, over and over again, is:

"Help me get out, help me get out."

He's obviously, you know, mentally unstable.

I'm seeing handful of women.

They're all crying and they're all dressed like Mormons.

Somebody's getting stabbed.

And I'm getting that stabbing pain again.

So far I've got a client who believes

the paranormal is targeting her family,

on a property where two married couples died.

But I wanna see if there's anything else.

Searching through old records, I come across a mass drowning

of several young kids; turns out this tragedy happened

only a mile from Heather and Jon's property.

So, I'm headed over to meet a local genealogist

who's looking into this for me.

She told me this tragedy was a freak accident,

and these kids never stood a chance.

I know a bunch of kids drowned right by my client's property.

What can you tell me about it?

Well, on July 30, 1892, nine boys,

ranging in age from four to 16, met at the Red River.

So what happened?

So they loaded in a boat and were pushed across

to a sandbar beach in the middle of the river,

and they were apparently gonna spend the day

cooling off and playing in the river.

All right, so what went wrong?

On the return trip back to the shore,

that's when the catastrophe unfolded.

They lost control of the boat,

then the kids inside the boat started freaking out,

and the resulting chaos caused the boat to turn over,

and all of them wound up in the river.

What happened after that?

Well, one kid knew how to swim,

so he was able to grab another kid,

and they were able to make it to the shore.

Okay, so that's two that survived.

Then one boy was able to grab on to the overturned boat,

and he was able to paddle to the river's edge,

and they got him out.

Okay, so that's three boys out of the nine.

What happens to the remaining six.

The other six remained beneath the river's surface.

They drowned.

It was nightfall before they recovered all of the bodies.

They were buried the next day.

The families decided, because the boys were

such good friends, and they were brothers,

that they would all be buried together in one grave.

What a shame.

I saw these two little kids, definitely boys.

They were dressed like twins.

They were probably four years old.

They were laughing, playing, running.

It's weird, because I think that they died.

How'd they die? I don't know.

No. There's more dead kids back here.

Some children had graves, very nice graves.

But there's something not right about the others.

I got a mass grave, and I do feel like this

is somewhere around here,

and it would be like, one, two, three,

four, five, buried in pine boxes.

And then they were like, stacked in this deep hole.

What's this thing?

What is this?

Is this a cemetery?

And they're seeping out of the earth.

And it makes people sick.

I saw several horrifying things during my walk,

but the black shadow snakes attacking a living person

had me the most concerned.

Hovering over the headboard is this tuxedo outfit.

There's no head or hands or lower portion.

There were like, these little black shadow snakes,

and they were coming out of it,

and they were going into the person that's in the bed.

Amy, is this what you saw?

Yes, that's what I saw.

Now that Amy and I have completed our investigations,

we're ready to reveal our findings to each other

and our clients for the first time.

Well, Amy, I'd like you to meet

Heather and her husband, Jon.

They live here with Jon's mother, Jennifer,

right here, and their three sweet kids.

Now, this is Ayliana who's 11, little Jon who's three.

This is Annalysa who's 10.

Now, Heather called us in because something here

is attacking the kids and destroying their marriage.

So, now that Amy knows who lives here and a little bit

about you guys, I'll ask her to describe her walk.

When I first got here, I walked into the bedroom

that's right by the laundry room.

That's Jennifer's bedroom.

There was an insane amount of energy

just emanating from that room

and I got that this was coming from a living woman,

this energy and that woman seemed to be

extremely stressed out and I saw her yelling

and screaming and freaking out.

I got that this woman has PK abilities, so psychokinesis,

which means that she can affect her environment

in a physical way without even being aware

that she's capable of doing this.

So things might move on their own,

doors could open and close.

If she were to get extremely upset with somebody

she could unintentionally hurt them.

So it can be dangerous.

All right well, there's a lot of things that you're talking

about our clients here have been experiencing.

Jon tell Amy about the cow skull.

Yeah, we have a cow skull that we hang

up on the wall for decoration.

There was nobody in the room when the next thing we knew

I heard a big crash and I look back

and the cow skull was laying over in front of the microwave.

Heather do me a favor, talk about

the coffee mug in the kitchen.

My daughter and I were doing the dishes

and the coffee mug flew from the hook

to the opposite side of the sink

and about hit my daughter in the head.

Which daughter was it that...

It was Ayliana.

Okay, I did get that she has abilities.

She's actually the one has seen the most objects moving.

Okay, yeah.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds like Jon's mom and their oldest daughter

are causing a lot of the activity that's going on.

So I wanted to discuss this deceased male

that I encountered and he is the main

deceased individual in your house.

He seemed to be in his late 60s,

I think he used to own the place.

He died rather recently, I would have put

his death in and around the early 2000s.

He's extremely religious person.

He says that everything here is, up

and it's not what he wanted.

And the weird thing with him was he kept saying

like he wanted to blind you guys.

He didn't mean it literally, what he's trying to relay

is that he wants to remove the distractions from your lives

so that you can look inside of yourselves

and deal with the issues that you guys are having

and what's going on inside of you.

Well, based on the age and time period,

I'm pretty sure I know who you saw.

Now, the couple that lived here before Heather and Jon

were Rayburn and Wanda Pitt.

Now they were both pretty involved

in the local Baptist Church here.

Now they built this house in 1985

and both of them actually died in the house.

Okay.

Now Rayburn died in the house

of respiratory failure in 2009.

This is his death certificate.

And he was 67 years old.

Okay.

Now Wanda stayed in the house

and she died in 2013 of stomach cancer.

The stomach thing.

She was about 72.

So you think the old man you saw

could've been this guy Rayburn Pittman?

Yeah, I think more than likely.

But it doesn't seem like he was, like a bad person,

he's just very religious and he doesn't like

some of the fighting he sees in the house.

A lot of what she's saying is just making so much sense.

We argue and fight and so it's just

with him being so angry it feels

like he's trying to stop us from arguing with each other.

So what else?

I did meet another guy,

but he stays outside.

He is a problem.

I think he owned the property back, like 1860s

and he looks like a typical cowboy.

One of the things that stood out about him

was that he was always carrying knives.

He was definitely former military

and he killed a lot of people when he was alive

but, as he put it, only because I had to.

Now that he's dead, he's still killing people.

And it's because he likes it.

He showed me a couple of bodies and these are his trophies

of people that he's killed since he's been deceased.

And the way that he can cause people's deaths

were sudden heart attack, aneurysms

and other very deadly illnesses.

All right, so you said this guy

causes people to die of disease on the property.

So I already told you about Rayburn and Wanda Pittman,

a couple who died in the house.

Long before there was a house here,

there was another married couple who died on the property.

Robert and Lena Bush bought this land back in 1902.

Now in 1939 Lena Bush died here of stomach cancer.

Same disease as Wanda Pittman.

I kept having horrible horrible stomach issues.

And 1945, Robert Bush died of heart disease.

Here's his death certificate; he was 81.

So could this cowboy have anything

to do with these four deaths?

Yes, I think the stomach cancers and the heart.

I don't know about the respiratory,

doesn't feel right to me.

You're blowing my mind, dude.

Now do you think it's something

that he's tryna do to these two?

Yeah...

It scares me actually.

I don't wanna die at a young age.

So this cowboy's tryna kill 'em.

Any other way he can do it besides making them sick?

Yes.

I think that he can get violent with the living.

When I was looking at him I'm looking up, like OK.

And he flung his arm and hand at me and it became a knife.

It almost felt like something was being stabbed there.

He can definitely affect moods, irritated, angry.

He can probably influence the living

and make them angry enough to kill.

So one of the biggest reasons

we were called in by Heather is

because of the rage that John is expressing.

When I walk in the house, I'm...

I turn into a completely different person.

The slightest thing will set me off and I'll start screaming

and I've punched the wall in the bedroom.

When we first got together we were happy as can be

but now it's just, I'm honest to God

I'm so sick of fighting with him.

I spoke to your mom and the girls

and they all say they've noticed the change in you.

But you also told me that you felt

you were being influenced.

Tell her about your night terrors.

I have these night terrors where I'm

physically killing somebody, different people

and every dream I'm using a knife.

I'm doing horrible things to 'em.

So do you think this cowboy could be influencing Jon

and giving him these damn nightmares?

It is very possible.

He could be influencing you and jumping you.

Is there anything else?

Then I encountered a very unusual entity here.

It's very very strange so just bear with me.

What it looks like is if somebody hung

the top of a tuxedo,

so there's like this jacket, a vest and a shirt.

And it also has these, like,

snake-like things that are black,

that come off of it and are always around it.

I've seen snakes were underneath the door,

like they were just kinda going back and forth like this

and I flung the door open and...

Nobody was there. Nobody was there.

I also got that it was a deceased individual

from somewhere else, possibly a living person

unknowingly brought it here from another place.

And this can happen when living people visit haunted locations.

These two visited a couple pretty famous haunted places.

You went to the Queen Mary, right? Tell that.

Queen Mary.

And Jon went to the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, its called.

Now, could they have brought something

home from one of these places?

It is very possible.

All right, so what does this thing do?

It would instill fear and panic.

I think the living might see it as a shadow person.

Heather you told me you've seen shadow figures.

It's very active in the front room

with the two beds in it.

- That's where the girls sleep. - Really...

I had a sketch done of what I saw.

This is hard for a parent to see.

That's exactly what Annalysa described to me.

I'm scared for her but I don't know what to do for them.

I've never felt more helpless in my life.

To know that something's attacking my kids

and I can't do anything about it.

What exactly are these?

Those are, like, little snake things.

The can go inside of the body,

specifically they were aiming for brain.

They could cause issues in other organs as well,

lots of health problems.

It needs to be dealt with, like, immediately.

What could happen to these kids

from these snake-like things?

Memory issues, sleep issues,
