- [Narrator] Springtime brought lots of new things

for Little Field Mouse and Little Nutbrown Hare to enjoy.

[laughing]

Warm sunny days, a fast flowing stream,

and a new game.

[giggling]

- Got it!

- [Narrator] Even Little Nutbrown Hare's father

was having fun.

- Here comes another leaf!

- [squeals] It's coming straight to me.

[gasps]

Oh, I didn't get it.

- Never mind Little Field Mouse,

I'll send you an extra special one!

Hm, something pretty.

Something pretty.

- Oo, what about that blossom?

Do you think Little Field Mouse would like that?

- [gasps] perfect!

- What's perfect?

What?

- Just wait there.

You'll see!

[playful music]

- Oo it's pink!

[giggles]

Oh thank you Little Nutbrown Hare.

It's so pretty!

- [giggles] It's a blossom.

- I'm going to keep it forever and ever. [giggles]

- Oh look, here come some more blossoms.

[playful music]

[both gasp excitedly]

- Where are they coming from?

- They must be falling off a blossom tree into the stream.

And the stream is floating them down here.

- Wow.

A whole tree covered in those blossoms.

- [gasps] It must be a very pretty tree.

- I can remember seeing a beautiful blossom tree

when I was a Little Nutbrown Hare just like you.

[both gasp]

It had more blossoms that you could ever imagine.

The tree's probably stillthere at the top of a mountain.

- [gasp] Can you take us?

- Can you show us the blossom tree?

- Um, well, it's a very long way.

- Please!

- [chuckles] Well, all right!

- [Both] Hooray!

[panting] [cheerful music]

- I'm gonna make a necklace of blossoms

and show everyone!

- Stop when you get to the big boulder!

You can't miss it!

It's huge!

[playfully suspenseful music]

- Do you think this could be the boulder?

- It must be.

It's pretty big.

- Hm, this can't be the right boulder.

It's not as big as I remember.

- It looks big to me!

- Huge!

[laughs]

- Oh I see!

It must be because last time I was here

I was smaller!

So the boulder only seemed bigger!

- So why have we stopped at the boulder, anyway?

- We have to turn here, to get to the blossom tree.

- [gasps] We're nearly there!

- Oh no!

Where the path becomes two, uphill is true.

- How does that tell us where to go?

- It's a riddle.

You'll have to work it out.

- Oh!

- I'll work it out before you!

- Not if I work it out first! [giggles]

[playful music] [both giggling]

- Found it! - Oh!

- Well the first part of the riddle anyway.

See?

- Where the path becomes two, uphill is true.

That path is downhill, so we should go uphill!

- That's right!

Uphill is the true way to the blossom tree.

- Thanks!

What's the next riddle?

[playfully suspenseful music] - All must obey

the rock that knows the way.

- [laughs] Rocks don't know anything.

- Well, it must show the way, somehow.

- That's a clue!

Let's go Little Nutbrown Hare!

[playful music]

- There are lots of stones and rocks.

But none of them are telling me anything.

- Except that my legs and my feet are tired!

[sighs]

- Not all the rocks are under your feet.

- But rocks aren't up in the sky.

Huh?

[gasps]

Look! A pointy rock!

[laughs]

I mean a rock that's pointing!

- Oh yes!

Is it pointing the way to the blossom tree?

- All must obey the rock that knows the way.

- See!

The rock does know something.

[both laugh]

- Come on then.

There's only one clue left

to help us find the Blossom Tree.

- Only one?

- Uh huh, across a tree, that's very old.

Then through bushes made of gold.

Up a mountain you will see

a very pretty blossom tree!

- Across the tree that's very old.

- [Both] Blossom Tree!

Hooray!

[bright music]

- Oh look!

Across the tree that's very old.

- That tree looks old.

- Come on, we have to go across.

[laughing]

[both panting and laughing]

[cheerful music]

[exclaiming]

- Those bushes are gold!

- So we go through them!

[laughing]

[cheerful music]

- Are we close?

- [panting] We could be.

- [Little Field Mouse] Up a mountain you will see

- A very pretty blossom tree.

[cheerful music]

- [Both] Whoa!

[enchanting music]

- Oh it's even bigger and more beautiful

than I remembered. [laughs]

Although it's more of a hill than a mountain.

- It's raining blossoms.

- Oh, what pretty rain!

- Well at least not everything has changed. [sniffs]

These blossoms still smell as sweet as ever.

- There!

- Oh, it's beautiful!

- You're welcome.

- Well we'd better start for home.

[both sighed heavily]

- My legs and feet are still tired from getting here.

- Mine too.

- I know it's a long way but we should try

to get home before it gets dark.

- [sighs] I wish there was a quicker way home.

[enchanting music]

- Hmm. [gasps]

[bright music]

Do you remember the blossoms in the stream this morning?

- You mean like this one?

- Aha!

They're the same!

- Hmm, same color and everything.

- Have you seen any other blossom trees

with this color anywhere else?

- No, not anywhere that I could think of.

- [Little Nutbrown Hare] Oh.

- What! What is it?

- The blossoms we found near home this morning

come from this tree!

- The stream carries them all the way back there!

- If we follow the blossoms in the stream,

they'll take us home another way.

It could be a quicker way!

- It could be.

- Let's try! [everyone giggles]

- [Narrator] And very soon,

much sooner than anyone had expected,

the floating blossoms brought Little Nutbrown Hare,

Big Nutbrown Hare, and Little Field Mouse

right back to where they'd started their long journey.

[gasps]

[pants]

- Look!

Our leaf from this morning!

We're home!

- Yay!

You're so clever Little Nutbrown Hare!

- [chuckles] Not really.

- I'm going to show everyone my pretty blossom necklace.

[pants and chuckles]

- Goodbye Little Field Mouse!

- See you tomorrow!

- Goodbye!

- You were clever, my Little Nutbrown Hare.

Now, we know two ways to the beautiful blossom tree.

Which one did you like more?

- Hmm, I don't know.

They were both special!

The way there had lots of games!

And the way home, was short and sweet.

- And both ways will look different when you grow up.

- I have a riddle for you this time!

- Oh ho ho, yes, go on.

- What is as big as a mountain

and as long as a stream

and as tall as the tree?

- [giggles] I don't know.

- [giggles] It's how much I love you!

- Oh!
