People compare this show to Harry Potter

but I think it's better
because it has fairies.

That's why I call it Fairy Potter.

I feel like it's catchier.

The show takes place in a magical world
where teenagers have both magic powers

and cell phones.

Everybody wants to escape
in a fantasy world

but you're getting greedy.

It's like, "I want to fly
and tweet about it."

It'd be flying with a lot of selfies of
"Look who's above the castle."

What I loved about the show is

even fairies think
people from California are weird.

Isn't that right, Abigail?

Yeah, and wait until
they find out I'm from Florida.

[laughing]

At the end, Bloom tells her parents
she's been at fairy school the whole time.

They were relieved
she wasn't a theater major.

I'll talk to Abigail first
and then the entire cast a little later.

How'd you see that?

Were you in the hospital being born
and it was on the TV?

Yeah, my mom played it for me the minute
I came out of the womb, on the screen.

Maybe I'll do a spin-off. Um…

But the show you're on is great.
It's a huge hit.

You have the power of fire,
which I think is the good one.

But I'm a little scared of fire.
How are you with real fire?

-I'm not afraid of it.

Maybe to the point where I decide to jump
over it and break both of my wrists.

Sounds like a Florida thing.
What happened?

I think it is honestly a Florida thing.

I think I get home to Florida
and I'm so bored

that I just don't know what to do.

So I challenged myself at a bonfire.

-Challenged yourself?
-Myself, dared myself.

I used to hurdle in high school.

I was not good at it but I did track,

and I thought, for some reason still,
I could hurdle over a campfire.

-Yeah.
-And so I did.

I landed it,

but then on the fifth time I just ate it,

and I went, "Pfft!"
Landed on both my wrists and then…

-You broke both?
-Yeah.

-You challenged yourself five times?
-[laughs]

Know what's funny? I actually broke both
my wrists skateboarding in a pool once.

And it is not fun.

-So I…
-No.

-Wow. Were you in--?
-We have that in common. Yes.

I had to walk around--
I looked sort of cool. Two casts.

-You get a lot of attention. People…
-That's what I want.

We actually have a cool
behind-the-scenes clip that you brought.

Let's tell everybody what's going on.

Look. You've got a little
Beyoncé at Coachella thing going on.

[Abigail] Yeah, it's…

I studied all of her videos for this.

[David] Anybody coach you through this?

They had to literally hire
a dance teacher for me

because I move so awkwardly,
like I cannot dance.

It took at least about,
I would say two days

for me to do this movement
without being like, weirdly… I don't--

I saw you walk in
and people were whispering.

-Yeah.
-[laughs]

I have a movement coach
to get me up those stairs. Um…

So when you saw it all put together,
that whole thing…

So you're in there doing it
and it's all green screens and harnesses

and movement coaches and awkwardness,

when you see it put together,
was it exciting to see that it looks cool?

It was shocking, honestly,
'cause it was…

I mean, yeah, it was really cool.

While we were there, you can see…

you can't see in the background,
but that was a whole big green screen

that I was just in front of all day.

There were guys in the back
that were in these full-blown green suits.

Never saw their faces.

And they had these blowers
that they had to blow my hair.

It was like a leaf blower.
They were there all day.

That was their job, to just blow my hair.

Some superhero movies
feel like that's the whole thing.

-Honestly.
-Just guys with tennis balls on sticks.

And they're, you know…

-"Hey, there's a rocket." All that.
-Seriously.

I don't usually do that.
My movies are low budget.

The big one at the end, was that shot
first or at the end or when did you do it?

Um, this one was…

No, this was shot at the end.

The fire versus water one
was actually the first scene that we shot.

Like first day, first scene.

But it actually is not the one
that's in the show.

It was cut.

And I'm like…

The one that is in the show
we shot at the very end.

And they just needed to reshoot it,
which I still am like, "Is it…?"

I think that's a good sign
because sometimes if you do things early

and they see that they're shooting
and it's going well, and it looks good,

they will put the money in to say,

"Let's redo that one
and make it even better."

"That's how we start the show. We need
it to look great and match the rest."

Or, "Our actress was horrible
the first day."

Screwed it up. Like, oh, my God.

Yeah. I'm giving you the producer's view
of what happened.

Who is the dreamiest Specialist?

-Oh.
-Ooh.

I mean, Bloom would say Sky.

[David] Sky was good looking, and--

[Abigail] He's a good looking guy.

They all are. Believe me, I was angry.
I was watching the whole thing.

I was like, "What a coincidence.
They're all great looking dudes." Uh…

You shot a scene
at the waterfall with him and he…

It's a sort of a romantic scene

but sometimes those things
aren't as romantic when you shoot them.

Was that one of those?

Oh, yeah, the waterfall was so loud
we could barely hear each other.

He'd be like, "It's okay, Bloom."

I'd be like, "What? What are you saying?"

It's like right before the kiss too,
"I can't hear you."

Do you think Professor Dowling,

this is a good question,
faked her own death

and then she can come back on season two?

Whoa!

-I would like for that.
-Right. She would like that.

How would she have faked
her own death though?

-I can't tell you.
-Break her own neck?

I know but I can't tell you.

summoned their fairy powers with ease.

But that's because they were trained
by the best in the biz. Take a look.

What's up, everybody. My name is Tina.

I am a fairy trainer to the stars.

If you wanna learn how to be a fairy
in any movie, any TV show,

any web series,
any podcasts, you come to me.

I don't know if you remember
a little show called Charmed.

I had to train Alyssa Milano,
Rose McGowan,

and they were not very charmed
with each other.

There was no spell in the world
that could make the two of them

wanna sit down and have a latte together.

My latest, uh, project
has been Fate: The Winx Saga.

They hired me
'cause there's a lot of fairies.

They were like,
"We've got this great series for Netflix,"

and I was like, "Heard of it." And they
said, "We need your expertise, Tina."

"These kids, they're very good looking,
they don't know how to be fairies."

I really liked working with Aisha.
She was the water fairy.

And any time I was very hot or thirsty
she would just spit into my mouth.

Pre-COVID.

Uh, Bloom was a fire fairy.

I taught her some basic
stop, drop, and roll

because sometimes your spells,
they go wrong.

Honestly, I was very busy.

I had double clients that day
so I put on Backdraft.

I told her to watch it.

I kinda phoned it in
substitute teacher-style.

I am so proud of these five women
and for how far they have come.

I could almost shed a tear.

But if there are two things
I do not shed, it's tears and pounds.

You would think as a fairy that I'd have
some control over that. I do not.

I'll tell you this, it's not easy to fly.

I have been grounded for a while.

You guys like magicians, right?
Pretty fun.

Guess what a fairy can do? Are you ready?

Shit.

I, uh…

I was supposed to disappear.

and I just wanna point out

how well British people are absolutely
killing it on Netflix nowadays.

They're giving us all a job. What? What?

I love everything about it.

But I wanna know about
filming power scenes. Right?

'Cause it couldn't have been easy to film.

Let's talk about it.
I want to talk to Elisha.

How's it all work when you're filming
and you've got powers but you're a human?

How does it work?

I mean, it's… great.

It's easy when you've got a power…

[laughs]

like being an empath

where after every scene
they go, "Cut. Cut. And now the eyes."

And you have to look straight down
the barrel of the lens

for about two minutes.

Um…

What do you think about
when you're looking down there?

Are you thinking of food,
dinner, boyfriends?

How do you channel it?

I'm thinking about
if tonight is pizza night or if it's…

[laughing]

My mom's super power was also staring.

I knew I was in trouble
when she was like…

-Yep, my dad too.
-So…

It's hard-core. You did great.

Eliot, what was it like performing
Terra's magic? Was that hard?

Oh, do you know what? No.

Because we do these big scenes
with, like, the Specialists

and I was with this girl Leah
who plays Kat, and she's wonderful.

And they're doing
this amazing choreography and…

then at the end they're like,
"Do you wanna go again?"

"Are you happy with all of that?"

And I'm like, "Yeah. I just did this."

"I was fine."

-I have magic.
-Waa!

They'll edit it in.

Precious,
I wanna talk to you because, listen,

did you really have to swim in that
dirty lake, Black girl to Black girl.

-I mean…
-[laughing]

What was that like, babes. [laughs]

It was very cold. Um…

I was put in a wetsuit,
so that kind of made it bearable.

But when my face was in the water…

-Oof.
-Yeah, it was a wrap.

It was a wrap and then the hair
and it gets messy and the moisturizer.

It's hard for Black people.
It's really hard.

How have they not learned
how to heat lakes?

[London] I mean…

And Hannah,
I wanna know about your beams of light

because you had all the--
Beams every minute, just… Ah!

Yeah, I mean, Abbey and I were
the two people who had big contraptions

strapped to our hands and, um…

whenever we had to do it,
it was always like,

we kind of looked like
half woman, half machine,

which kind of made it
a lot more epic, I guess.

All right, I know you guys all formed
a very close friendship with each other,

so who is your favorite?

I'm kidding, I'm kidding. [laughs]

-They looked genuinely scared.
-[laughing] You guys are like…

Imagine if someone answered.

So what were some
of your favorite memories

when you guys weren't shooting?

Precious, I'll start with you.

Some of my favorite memories
was we went to an escape room.

It was really great 'cause
I just stood there, didn't really do much

and Eliot got us out, so…

[all laughing]

You're like,
"We don't actually have magic."

"We're not actually powerful enough
to leave this room."

Elisha, do you have a favorite memory?

There was like a night
where we all just came back.

I think it was after going
to the Guinness factory

and we were all having a little drink

and Hannah was doing
some tarot for us all.

Um, and then I had a couple too many

and decided that I would try
and do some tarot.

-Nice.
-[laughing]

Which card did you get?

Did you get the hangover card or…

the alcoholic card?

Hannah, I love that you do tarot,
by the way. That's very cool.

If you could do me one day I'd love that.

Oh, London, I'm a huge fan.

I couldn't go to your show
because I was filming this.

And I was devastated.

Hannah, you have a favorite moment
when you weren't shooting?

Yeah, I actually have such a good moment.

So when we were trying to get
all of our Christmas presents

for each other and for people
who worked on the show,

we're all really stingy so we
basically went to the Irish equivalent

of Poundland or the Dollar Store.

-Oh.
-And when we were looking around,

Precious picked up this really,
like, ratchet jewelry kit.

And It had, like,
a little redhead girl on it.

She was like,
"This looks so much like Abbey."

And we were like,
"Oh, no, like, yeah, it does

but you're just being like… gingerist.
That's not her."

And then we sent the photo to her

and it was Abbey.

She was like, "I did this weird shoot
when I was 13. That's me."

-It was her?
-So we bought it for her. We splurged.

-What?
-[laughs]

You're like, "Don't make fun
of that weird redhead."

-[laughing]
-Oh, my God! Oh, wow.

Eliot, any favorite memory?

Um…

My memory, to be fair, of the escape room
was not that I did everything.

It was that me and Hannah
were super, super into it.

And Precious and Elisha were like,
"Okay, we'll just, uh…

we're just here for a good time."

about the future of this show

'Cause we know it's got a season two!

the future holds for Terra?

I don't know.

that I've seen in her future.

there's this really rare card
that's just like "hot women."

I just got that over and over again.

So I really see that as,

Hannah, what do you think
about the future of your character?

Do you think that Ricki,
the person that Stella blinded,

is just gonna come back

and then just have it out and beef it out,
what do you think's gonna happen?

I mean, I feel like that
would be very reasonable of her,

'cause that was beyond rude of Stella.

Very.

I, you know, I'd like to think the same
similar sort of tarot came up for Stells.

I think for all the characters,
we hope to see many more hot people,

'cause we're lacking them at the moment.

And also, like, stand up to that evil mom,

I think would be a good stance for Stells.

Yeah, nice. That's a good answer.

What about you, Elisha? Do you feel like--

I feel like Musa's gonna be sponsored
like a spokes-fairy for Beats by Dre.

'Cause the headphones never come off.

What do you think's gonna happen for her?

She definitely needs an upgrade
in her headphone gear for sure.

If I could control water,

so that I don't have to pee
every 45 minutes.

I would love to sit in a window seat
on a plane.

I would also probably just use it
to refill my Brita.

I'm pretty lazy.

If I were an earth fairy
and had the power to make things grow,

well, every boyfriend would be perfect.

It's a boner joke.

In the show,
Stella uses the power of light

to blind a girl
who flirted with her boyfriend.

Honestly, no notes.

That's exactly what I would do.

But I guess if I did have
the power of light

I would quit comedy
and open a tanning salon immediately.

If I had air powers
where I could control electricity

I would make so much money.

I would never want the power
to read anyone's mind.

I'm an insecure comedian.

If I wanted to know what everybody
thought of me I'd read YouTube comments.

I would be fairy good at this.
