[Weaving a Tale of Love]

[Episode 37]

Go ahead and take His Majesty's pulse.

Yes.

Why is His Majesty's hand this cold?

His Majesty has already passed away.

[Hall of Immortal Nectar]

Yu Liu,

pack things. We're going to Ganye Temple.

[A month later]

Liuli!

Liuli?

Eunuch Wang.

Eunuch Wang.

You are finally back!

Where is Liuli? Is she still well?

Don't be anxious. Liuli is fine for now.

Did you harvest the medicine?

- Here it is. - Hurry and give it to the pharmacy.

- You must not delay even for an instant. - Yes.

- Where is Liuli? Take me to see her now! - Don't be impatient.

How much did you suffer?

You are wounded all over.

When I went to get the the Thunder God Precipice Vine, I unfortunately fell under the cliff.

Luckily, I was hung by the vines on the cliff

so I didn't die. After I was unconscious for two days,

I was saved by a monk who was searching for medicine in the mountains.

Let's not talk about that now. Where is Liuli?

Hurry and take me to see her.

Listen to me first, listen to me.

After you left, the late emperor passed away, and the Crown Prince ascended to the throne.

His Majesty was transferred Liuli to the sleeping quarters in the inner palace

so that it's more convenient to take care of here. This...

You know about the rule in the inner palace.

It probably won't be easy for you to visit anymore.

His Majesty placed Liuli in the inner palace?

How is this adhering to rules?

You should know, when His Majesty was still Crown Prince,

he already adored Xiao Douzi very much.

Then after finding out that she was a female,

he was so happy.

If it wasn't for the fact that Liuli is sick now,

His Majesty probably would have already issued a decree.

Liuli's status at this time would be...

would be imperial now.

I want to see His Majesty.

You risked your life to find the medicine and achieved a new merit.

Of course His Majesty will reward you handsomely.

Go home and rest first. When His Majesty is finished with the court,

he should summon you.

Has Old Medicine Master said how certain he is about this medicine?

Pei Xingjian especially reminded that Old Medicine Master said that the medicine is being slowly adapted.

It cannot be taken all at once. Liuli is still weak,

she almost...

almost...

This medicine

was sent over by Shouyue?

Yes. Your Majesty cares about Pei Xingjian and hasn't summond him the last few days.

But he couldn't sit still, so he went to Old Medicine Master to help make the medicine.

Pei Xingjian knows that Your Majesty is anxious

for Liuli to wake up soon. Once the antidote is concocted,

he delivered it himself.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

- How is it? - Replying to Your Majesty,

Liuli is appearing to be calm after ingesting the medicine.

Her breathing is much smoother too.

Old Medicine Master is indeed as he was named Medicine King in the past.

As I see it, given some more time, she can completely recover.

Good, good.

Liuli, did you hear?

You will recover soon.

Once you recover, I will uncover your mother's case.

And also give you a big reward.

Sir Pei is waiting outside to see His Majesty.

A'Sheng, what is it?

Your Majesty.

Sir Pei is waiting outside to see Your Majesty.

It's deep into the night, and I am tired.

Tell Shouyue to go back first.

When I'm not busy, I will naturally summon him.

Yes.

[Tai Ji Gate]

- Imperial Guard Leader. - Eunuch Wang.

Has Liuli taken the medicine? How is the effect? Is she awake yet?

Don't worry, don't worry.

Old Medicine Master's antidote is indeed miraculous.

Liuli's pulse is stable now, and her breathing is strong.

The imperial physician said, given enough time to nurture,

she can completely recover.

That's good then.

What about His Majesty?

Will His Majesty see me?

His Majesty said you should go home to rest.

Once he gets through the busy work in the next few days, he will summon you.

I accept His Majesty's edict.

She's finally waken up.

Yes, they said that she is finally awake.

Your Majesty, slow down.

Liuli just woke up. Instead of serving her with care,

why are you all outside?

Replying to Your Majesty, someone is visiting her.

Liuli ordered us to wait outside.

Sun Decheng of the Courtyard of Misfortune, respectfully kneels to greet Your Majesty.

Why are you here?

- Liuli greets Your Majesty. - Liuli.

You just recovered from a big illness, no need to be formal.

You can all leave.

- Yes. - Yes.

How are you feeling?

I was unconscious and in a deep sleep for several months.

When I woke up, i felt like I was in another world.

I missed Foster Father and Xiao Shunzi, so I asked them to come visit.

Please forgive me, Your Majesty.

I also want to congratulate Your Majesty's ascension to the throne.

Liuli.

If you didn't risk your life to save me, I couldn't have easily ascended to the throne.

Liuli, you are my lucky star.

I will treat you very well and won't let you suffer ever again.

Your Majesty is maganimous, I don't dare to overstep my station.

When I tried to send out the message at that time,

I used a hidden chess move. If it weren't for Pei Xingjian to

see through the code that I left in the dragon robe and the message,

and persuaded Pu Bano to look for Medicine King in the dungeon,

not only that I couldn't have achieved merit, I might have misguided Your Majesty

to be trapped by Prince of Cao. I could have become a sinner in Great Tang.

Your Majesty, if you want to assess contributes and give rewards, Pei Xingjian should get the top reward.

Both you and Shouyue are meritorious. I will give rewards appropriately based on the merits.

I have ordered the Court of Judicial Review to re-examine your mother's case.

Once you completely recover, you can personally inquisition Zhuo Jinniang,

vindicate your mother and restore her reputation.

To be able to vindicate my mother's grievance and revenge for her,

this is Your Majesty's blessing. I, Liuli, kneel to thank Your Majesty's grace.

I wish Your Majesty to live ten thousand years and many more.

Liuli, you did so much for me,

it's really no much that I can do something for you.

Once you've recovered, I'm ready to confer you—

I plead Your Majesty,

once I have achieved my revenge,

permit me to become a female monk at Ganye Temp and stay by Talented Lady Wu's side.

What are you saying?

You want to enter religious life?

Why?

Replying to Your Majesty, Sister Wu saved my life,

so she is like a sister to me. When Sister Wu shaved off her hair,

I already wanted to stay by her side at that time.

Because I hadn't revenged for Mother's grievance yet,

so I had to stay here.

Now that my wish is fulfilled, I have no more earthly wishes.

I don't want any rewards.

I only wish that Your Majesty will permit me to go to Ganye Temple

and accompany Sister Wu.

Liuli, I promised Talented Lady Wu before

that, once I become Emperor, I would find a way to bring her back to the palace.

Even though it's difficult to do, but I shall not go back on my promise.

Talented Lady Wu will return to the palace sooner or later.

If you really want to stay by her side, just wait her patiently for her return then.

I want to beg for another reward, Your Majesty.

What do you want me to reward you?

Please allow me to go back to the Bureau of Imperial Attire to work, Your Majesty.

After this big illness, I am alive after death.

It makes me really miniscne the times from the past.

Mother's grievance has been revenged.

From now on, I have no other entanglements.

I only wish to return to the Bureau of Imperial Attire to continue to make clothes for Your Majesty.

Liuli, you need to think it through.

I wanted to give you an even bigger honor and bestowment,

- and my one— - I am a person of little luck.

When I was a child, I dragged my mother into harm.

Later, I almost harmed Foster Father and Xiao Shunzi.

I have no other wish,

except to never drag other people into harm again.

I will be content.

Your Majesty, if you can allow me to return to the Bureau of Imperial Attire,

I will behave

and concentrate on my duty without any other thoughts.

I understand. The "other people" that you dont' want to drag into harm

is Pei Xingjian.

Liuli, do you know that I want to give you

isn't just glory and riches, but my one true heart?

But your heart has been given to Pei Xingjian.

Fine.

I allow you to return to the Bureau of Imperial Attire.

You will stay there obediently

and concentrate on dressmaking.

Thank you, Your Majesty, for your grace.

His Majesty has given your father a position as an official.

It's very clear that he wants to marry you into the inner palace.

Everyone knows it in the inner palace.

What about Pei Xingjian? Is he all right?

Why won't the palace maids let me see him?

Pei Xingjian returned from finding the medicine,

His Majesty avoided seeing him, saying he should rest

because of his injury.

Pei Xingjian was anxious and came to see me at the Courtyard of Misfortune.

We guess that His Majesty must be aware of your feelings for each other.

That's why His Majesty is afraid of him.

My jade pendant?

This is probably the best ending

for everyone's sake.

Your Majesty, don't keep drinking anymore.

Even though this wine is fragrant, you'll get drunk if you drink too much.

Wine is the best when it's aged.

People are the best when they are the old ones.

Your Majesty, isn't that Bao'er?

Your Majesty.

Bao'er.

Isn't it staying with Talented Lady Wu?

Why is it here?

Youe Majesty, I am kneeling in Ganye Temple

to congratulate from afar your ascension to the throne

to finally achieve your ambition and implement your grand plans.

Other than feeling joyous for Your Majesty, I am also worried for Your Majesty.

I know very well that a monarch sits alone in the hall of supreme power,

but have to endure unimaginable loneliness and solitude that ordinary people cannot withstand.

I am away from the palace and cannot do anything for Your Majesty.

When Your Majesty is happy, have you also forgotten me?

If Your Majesty is distressed with worries,

you can let Bao'er pass a message.

I would be pleased to be Your Majesty's confidante

and listen to Your Majesty's thoughts.

In this world,

Meiniang has treated me the best.

But, in my heart,

it's all filled with Liuli.

Meiniang,

teach me,

how should I treat Shouyue and Liuli?

Buy me one too.

You haven't done anything good. Why should I buy it for you?

The case of Former Attire Expert An at the Bureal of Imperial Attire

overstepping boundary to make the pheasant robe for empress,

after the Court of Judicial Review's investigation and new trial,

both material and people evidence are confirmed,

it's truly Zhuo Jinniang and Attire Chief Lin

who had framed an innocent person.

To extricate her connection, Consort Yang

did not confirm facts, believed in biased statements,

was also responsible for lack of investigation.

Zhuo Jinniang and Attire Chief Lin overstepped boundary and made the pheasant robe for empress,

lied to the emperor, and even framed the innocents, destroyed the corpse to hide evidence.

Their extreme evil cannot be forgiven by heavenly law.

His Majesty has ordered the Court of Judicial Review

to announce your crimes to the world

and publicize to the people

to console Attire Expert An's spirit in heaven.

Attire Chief Lin and Zhuo Jinniang cannot be forgiven for their high crimes.

The punishment is decapitation.

Liuli,

I don't want to die.

Spare me.

Liuli, I... I don't want to die!

I haven't fulfilled my dream in dressmaking.

You don't know that, do you?

I always wished to become Number One Needle in the World.

My wish is not fulfilled, so I really can't die.

Liuli, I beg you.

I'm wrong.

I'm wrong!

I'm really wrong!

Liuli, it's all my fault.

Liuli,

I am guilty toward Teacher.

I harmed her. I know I did wrong.

Please be merciful, just let me go and forgive me.

As long as you say a word for me to His Majesty,

His Majesty will definitely spare my life.

Only you can save me, Liuli.

I will work as a horse or ox and serve as a servant

all my life to repay you.

Liuli, spare me.

You committed unforgivenable sins.

Zhuo Jinniang, you are getting what you deserve.

Think back carefully

all the terrible things you did to my mother.

No... No...

I...

I...

Qiniang.

Qiniang.

Qiniang! Qiniang!

I am your teacher.

How can you be so heartless to your teacher?

How can you bear to see me die like this?

Qiniang, beg Liuli.

She will listen to you. You are the only one who can save Teacher now.

My dream in dressmaking

is not finished yet. I cannot die!

Teacher, if you had known about now, would you have done what you did?

You've committed so many sinful things, how can I help you?

I'm sorry that I cannot do anything.

You... are heartless!

Give me another chance, will you?

I beg you, Liuli.

Attire Chief Kudi, it's time for the execution.

Liuli, save me!

Mother, it was right here that year,

you left with your grievance

but exchanged for a chance to let me live.

I hid my name and identity to survive for more than ten years.

I have finally reveged for your grievance

and vindicated you.

Mother, you've always wished for my safety, comfort,

and happiness.

I promise you

that I will cherish these days and times that I have obtained with much difficulty.

I will definitely stay safe

and happy.

May your spirit in heaven

will rest in peace.

His Majesty summons Imperial Guard Chief Adjutant Cao,

Imperial Guard Leader Pei Xingjian

to enter the court.

Your Majesty, Imperial Guard Leader is here.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

May Your Majest live ten thousand years and many more.

Imperial Guard Leader, no need for formality, you may rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I will soon ascend to the throne. Lately I have been busy handling state affairs.

I also wanted to let you recuperate from the injury.

That's why I could only call you before me today.

My injury is not serious. I am grateful because you show solicitude for me, Your Majesty.

Shou Yue, you are my most trusted official.

Not only you have prevented Prince of Cao's conspiracy,

but you have also found the herb which saved Liu Li's life.

I want to reward you an Liu Li according to your contributions.

Thank you, Your Majesty for your grace.

Shou Yue, seeing how impatient you are,

you must already have thought about what reward you want.

As long as you don't ask me to arrange you a marriage,

I can promise you anything.

Shou Yue...

You are the heir to the Zhongjuan Pei branch of the Pei clan

About the conflicts between you and my aunt, Grand Princess Linhai,

I am aware of some of it.

They say you jinx father, mother, wife, and child.

You are a fated disaster.

I know that

behind these gossips, there is probably some help given by Grand Princess.

Your wife died many years ago, and you have not re-married.

It's probably somewhat related to my aunt who speaks with arrogance.

Originally, I wanted to find you

a high official's daughter and bestow marriage

so that my aunt can be restrained.

But the late emperor passed away not too long ago,

it's really not convenient during national mourning.

I understood.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Stand up!

Liu Li has already told me what reward she wants.

She said she had no other wish

than being able to stay in the palace

return to the Bureau of Imperial Attire so she could craft clothes for me.

Shouyue,

what reward do you want?

I don't wish for any rewards.

I only wish to do my best for Great Tang and Your Majesty

so that I don't disappoint my teacher's tutelage

and not disappoint Your Majesty's acknowledgement of my abilities.

I have just ascended the throne and my foundation isn't solidified.

I am thinking about transferring you to the Ministry of Personnel

to recruit talents for me,

select the best to be officials to be set up in court.

It's too bad that your resume is still too thin, so you are not quite ready for the Ministry of Personnel.

But if I keep you in the palace,

you will be under-utilized for your talents and abilities.

After thinking it over, I want you to work several years as Magistrate of Chang'an City.

Once you have acquired enough experience,

I will transfer you to the Ministry of Personnel.

Shouyue,

what do you think?

I accept the decree.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Congratulations, Lord Pei.

Lord Pei, according to palace rules, when you leave the palace for a new position,

the waist badge that allows entry to and exit from the palace

must be returned to the Directorate of Eunuchs.

Lord Pei, His Majesty has to go to court every day now.

If you need to report to His Majesty, you can see him at court.

You won't need to endure the hassle of coming to the inner palace.

I'm tired.

A'Sheng, please walk Shouyue out for me.

Yes.

This subordinate bids farewell.

[Hall of Tai Ji]

Your Majesty, there is a Buddhist saying.

The heart doesn't move, and the person doesn't randomly move.

When one doesn't move, then there is no harm.

If the heart moves, then the person randomly moves.

It will hurt the body and bring pain to the bones.

I know that Your Majesty feels much unwillingness.

And you also feel uncertainty and criticize yourself.

But this is not Your Majesty's mistake.

It's also not Shouyue and Liuli's mistake.

Why not let it go for now,

and wait for time to solve it.

Just like how my feelings are toward Your Majesty all these years,

even though they are not known to Your Majesty, nor acceptable to the people,

even though they make my heart ache,

but I am glad to have them.

Your thoughtfulness toward me,

how do I not know?

You are the only one who really understand me.

Don't worry.

I will not go back on my promise.

[Tai Ji Gate]

Lord Pei, I'll stop here then.

Lord Pei, please be safe.

I have a message,

please pass it to Liuli, Eunuch Wang.

Lord Pei, please don't make it difficult for me.

Liuli, I know that

you asked His Majesty to let you return to the Bureau of Imperial Attire to protect yourself,

but moreover, it's to protect me in front of His Majesty.

Liuli, when we part now,

I wonder when we will meet again.

[Tai Ji Gate]
