My name's Kenzie Wheeler, I'm 22 years old,

and, yes, this is a dang mullet.

I love my mullet. I probably won't ever cut it off.

and then I've been told,

Kind of got my inspiration from there.

Maybe a little bit, you know? I got a ponytail.

But it's still a mullet when you take it out. Yeah, when I take it down.

Blake had one at one time, a long time ago.

I seen that he was talking about growing his out again.

Kenzie loves Blake, but any... Yeah, Kenzie loves Blake,

but any of the other coaches would be great.

I'm a country boy myself.

Love hunting, fishing.

I love baseball. Played since I was 5 years old.

But since I was little, I would always dream about singing.

My earliest memories of music

were me singing in the car with my mom, driving around.

For my blind audition, I'll be singing

My mom would always sing this song to me in the car.

She can harmonize pretty dang good with me.

I started taking music serious,

singing karaoke my sophomore year of high school,

practicing and getting better,

and my singing career got bigger and bigger.

Got to open up for

Charlie Daniels at the Hard Rock.

From karaoke to performing on a big stage.

I have a lot of big fans in my family,

but my mom has always believed in my music,

and I'm pretty much a mama's boy. [ Chuckles ]

which makes me think you've been singing for a long time.

I have. What's your story?

I was the headliner singing on a ship.

Wow. Oh, wow. Yeah.

That's incredible.

Being a headliner on the Hy-Line American Cruises,

it's been the most amazing experience ever.

We did everything from Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner.

You know, the soul-searching, loving, hugging music, honey,

and it made me whup myself into shape as an artist.

I am a single mother of two children.

I was divorced, and we were put out of our apartment...

...a place that we called home.

Lost everything in it. I didn't have anywhere to go.

We slept in our truck.

Wow.

It's tough, and in those moments,

you don't feel like you're a good mom.

You're left with nothing but perseverance, faith, hope.

You know, those are all the things

that you have to tap into

to focus on what I needed to do for my family.

And we made it.

I had gotten a temp job.

I didn't do too many singing gigs,

because it was important for me to be there,

you know, with my children.

It's been a journey, and... And they rode this way with me.

I love you guys. I miss y'all so much.

We been fighting for this our whole lives.

You bring joy to everybody's heart.

Everyone that loves you,

they know that you got the voice.

You have that spark.

Dana: Being here is extremely emotional because,

being a mom, sometimes you stop doing things

that you might want to do, to do what you need to do.

You do that when you're a parent.

For my children to see me here...

They're proud,

and I'm proud to make them proud.

So, what have you learned about my pitching style?

I learned, actually, more that Blake really likes me

and wants to see me succeed, more than he likes you.

I have learned that, as well,

and it's been disconcerting.

That means, "Your concert is canceled,"

so dis-concert. Disconcert. Got it.

I do like you a lot.

How are you? How you doing?

My name is Cam Anthony.

♪ Hey ♪ I'm 19 years old,

and I grew up in North Philly, Philadelphia.

I would get a lot of my influence, like,

from music from those days where they would

have the boom box in the middle of the street.

♪ Hey, ho ♪ We would go outside and play in the fire hydrant,

listening to music, and they would play jazz.

You would have hip-hop.

That was the best time to be outside.

It's a full vibe, a full experience,

even though there was a lot of violence in my neighborhood.

You would hear gunshots, police everywhere,

helicopters... I couldn't escape it.

Even when I would go to school, I would have to fight.

You know, you weren't really learning much,

and you were always protecting yourself.

It can become a lot.

Going to church and being able to sing

and let that out, it definitely, like,

changed everything, for sure.

My first solo in church

was a song called "Time to Believe."

I started recording, like, videos, and I put up

"When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars.

I think it got 8 million views, and then... whhht, whhht!

I was just all over the place after that.

Cam: I had my very first opportunity on "The Ellen Show."

Your friends must be very impressed, 'cause...

And President Obama and the First Lady

wanted me to come and perform at the Easter Egg Roll.

They open this door to the Oval Office,

and the first thing that the president said was,

like, "Cam, your voice is phenomenal."

I didn't get to process it

until I got on the balcony at the White House.

It was a breathtaking experience.

Currently, I'm recording in the studio

and trying to record an album,

but "The Voice" is one of the most amazing shows

for upcoming artists.

I'm looking to get John to turn.

His voice is pretty similar to mine,

but they're all amazing.

The most important thing for myself is to remember

this is where everything changes.

I am a sales rep for men's golf apparel.

that's outfitted like a retail store on the inside.

Growing up, my dad worked in housekeeping,

I've worked so hard at getting myself to a place

where I could even be on a show like this.

I grew up in a very small town.

I've always been a black sheep.

When I was 5 years old, I can remember

that, like, I had feelings for a girl at my school.

You know, I was probably [laughs] the only queer kid.

The only thing I really felt like I could do

was write about it... Writing songs.

That was what started my journey with music.

[ Speaking indistinctly ] [ Plays upbeat chord ]

I was about 10 years old.

I got this Mini Squier guitar,

and the first thing I think is not, "Learn a scale."

It's, "How do I make a melody

and finesse this into representing

how I'm feeling right now?"

I started going to these blues jams

when I was like 16.

Playing with these guys two, three times older than me,

and they're like, "All right, take a solo."

And I just get to rip it, and just all of these feelings...

It just, like, reminded me how alive I was.

Playing live shows, where I was needed somewhere

felt amazing

because there are those moments

[Voice breaking] that, like, you just have

this, like, light go through your chest, you know?

You just feel that. [ Laughs ]

Music is what helps me communicate effectively.

I'm so excited to take the work that I've been doing

and give it to the rest of the world.

I'm not speechless that often.

We wish you were more often.

I feel like guitar is probably not

the only instrument you play.

I also play keys, bass, and drums.

You really know how to milk a performance,

and it just kept getting better and more amplified.

You are a rare find,

and you're about to have your moment

My name is Madison Marigold.

I am 21 years old,

and I'm from Santa Clarita, California.

My mom is a clothing designer and manufacturer.

She had been doing a lot of business

with Chinese importers and exporters,

so she enrolled me in Chinese classes

'cause she thought that it would help me

in whatever I wanted to do later on in life.

And at first, it was really hard,

but after about six months,

I started combining that with my passion for music.

So, when I was writing my songs,

I would translate them into Chinese.

I recorded a song called [Speaking Chinese dialect]

which was, at the time,

like, one of the biggest songs in China,

and I just posted, like, a cover of it.

And then, people from the Chang Jiang Music Festival

in China had reached out to me,

and Demi Lovato was the headliner.

And so, they asked me if I would be interested

in opening for her.

I was like, "Uh, yeah."

I got to do, like, a 30-minute set,

and I did half the set in Chinese and half in English.

The coolest moment of my life thus far.

There were moments where you... you showed a lot of vocal technique.

But the thing for me was just that it didn't

kind of ever take off.

Julia writes songs that are very conversational,

and there's a certain style of pop songwriting

that is kind of rapid-fire.

It's actually more difficult than belting.

That's just something to think about

I currently go to school in the number-one public HBCU,

Mister A&T.

Basically, I'm the official male representative

for the student body.

My role is being present for every event,

webinars, and community service, on top of everything else...

Making it to an HBCU, it means a lot to me

because I grew up in a single-parent home.

My father wasn't really present.

It was tough.

So, my mother, she worked really hard to provide for us.

Was working two jobs because we didn't have much.

When the water was off and, you know, we would have to

go to a nearby grocery store

and get a case of water and heat it up in a microwave,

and that's basically how,

you know, we washed up for the week.

Everything wasn't good, you know, growing up,

but my mother, she just always wanted me to be safe.

You know, she actually made us participate in church...

Singing choir,

you know, leading songs. In the sunshine bands.

It was mostly gospel.

That part of my life really plays a big role

of who I am today.

The song is about the African-American community

and what we've been through... Trials, tribulations.

We have come a long way.
