to meet David and Kelly Wilkinson.

This winter, a huge tree fell on their camp

We knew this wall was bad, but it's looking like

we're gonna have to tear the whole thing out now.

That's what we have to figure out.

My mind is blown here.

So he gave us some clues.

He gave us some clues, he told us to wear our

- He's gonna be coming in some sort of, like, hippie mobile. - Yeah.

[Ryan] Seeing chase pull up in that van today brought back

a lot of memories, it was awesome.

I just wanted to get in that thing.

Still want to have a wife, but no mortgage.

You know, just get on the road, go on tour.

- See some shows. - Still want to have a wife.

The reason we're driving in this is we're showing up at our next camp

to meet David and Kelly Wilkinson.

Got a place on Bear Pond in Hartford.

And David used to drive a VW all around Europe.

Love him already. Yeah.

This winter, a huge tree fell on their camp.

- Oh, no. - Ripped the power right off,

crushed part of the roof, blowed out some of the walls.

So they are in desperate need of help.

A hippie in need, we're here for him.

- A hippie in need. - We're on our way, Dave.

- Hey! - Hey!

- [dog barking] - Here comes the dog.

[Ashley] The welcoming committee.

- Nice. - This is awesome.

Where's your instruments? We heard there was a concert.

I was totally psyched about seeing the bus come in.

I travelled around in Europe and Africa in 1956.

Small window, beat up...

Hey, welcome to Wit's End.

So we're the Wilkinsons.

I'm Dave Wilkinson.

My wife Kelly.

My son Rex and my son Sy.

Wow, look at those pine trees.

[Ashley] I heard a tree hit.

Yeah, a tree hit on the other side of camp in late February.

And it's called Wit's End.

It is figuratively and literally...

I'm at my wit's end.

We're here now, so you guys are all good.

One of these monsters fell on it.

- Yes. - Yeah.

Hopefully nobody was here when it happened.

- No. - It was February.

It was over the winter.

It was a dark and stormy February morning

when the dreaded call came in saying,

"Hey, Dave, you've got a big pine tree on your camp."

- It used to be straight. - But it's still standing.

Oh, it's still standing.

And that says something right there.

Somehow, some way.

It's a kid camp from the '60s, of course,

and there's two cables that connect these walls together,

and that's probably the one thing that kept from making it crash

right to the ground when the tree hit.

So other than this, before the accident, was there other stuff

that you were looking to have done before?

Well, I need a much steeper pitch roof on this with a metal roof on it,

And then I'd like to get a roof over the front porch.

- Yeah. - We have some cool trim boards that I had painted,

and I really want them saved as much as they possibly could

and put somewhere in the camp.

- Yeah. - You know, windows in the gable ends,

- and lighten it up a little bit. - Lighten it up.

- Yeah. - Do I get a new kitchen?

Because I wanted one in my house and that hasn't happened.

So if I can get a new kitchen here, that would be awesome!

[all laughing]

And keep the look as same as much as possible.

Yeah, you know, the vertical log, the weather,

that's really the character of it.

- For sure. - If we can try to salvage as much of that to fill in

when things are done.

And I built stone steps going down to the beach because it's kind of steep.

I would like a set of stairs built on the other end of the bank down there

- down to the beach. - Safer access down to the...

For old people and little people.

- And you know... - For everybody!

Yeah, for everybody. Exactly.

So looks like we can get started right away.

- Good. - What's our time frame?

Sometime before maybe the end of summer.

So we get a little bit of time

and a nice September fall, too. So...

How much are you looking to invest into the repairs?

Start at $55,000.

Okay, yeah, I mean, new roof, loft, sleeping space,

porch on the front, update the kitchen.

- Kitchen, bathroom. - Bathroom.

Back the walls together Just really...

[laughing]

- Awesome. - We're very ready.

We just need a set of keys.

Here you go, brother.

And what is this?

This is the key to the sliding door.

- It's never locked. - [all laugh]

Knowing that we got real pros,

good carpenters, who are going to do a good job,

- oh, I mean... - A lot less stress.

Let them do their magic.

And, you know, both Sy's wife Adrienne

and Rex's partner D, they're with child,

and it's due in the middle of August.

So this is going to be a place where we can grow as a family.

- Oh. - Ooh!

She's dark, and woody.

A lot of knotty pine in here.

- Tiny kitchen. - [Ashley laughs]

[Ryan] Look at this.

- Really nice. - Looks like an eight-track kitchen.

Oh, my God, look at the holes in the ceiling.

This thing is twisted, turned, knotted.

That's probably what held this place together, huh?

How it did not fall down, those cables, is the only way.

When you first look at it, it doesn't look that bad,

then you look close, you can see gaps there.

This wall is all twisted right here.

That blows way out.

- This place is dark. - It is dark.

This wall needs to be knocked right out. Boom.

Yeah, not much of a view.

Look at that, that whole wall's shifted.

This is where it's supposed to be.

I think that's even out.

Oh, look right there.

- Yeah, no... - That's not the deck.

- Yeah. - That's the deck right there.

- It's supposed to be... - There it is.

- They're really, really lucky. - Right there. Wow!

How did this place not collapse?

Look at this wall.

So this is supposed to be lined up with these holes?

No, no, this is way out.

This might be a can of worms, Chase.

Oh, it definitely is.

I heard that budget, I thought that was going to be

a lot of money, but after walking around and seeing everything...

- Look at the gap right there. - Yeah.

It's a can of worms, so that budget might be close.

Well, it's time.

- Yeah. - Time for what?

- Call the guys. - Yes.

- Let's do it. - Guys.

We need a bigger van.

[all laugh]

[Chase] So the Wilkinsons have $55,000

to make this camp usable again.

Massive pine fell on it,

so that means the entire roof system needs to come off.

And since we're taking the roof off, we're going to increase

the pitch of the roof, get some loft sleeping space

for the additional family members that are coming along.

We're going to upgrade the kitchen, get a covered porch out front,

and just, you know, try and bring it back to life.

I feel confident we're gonna get some stuff done today.

We got a lot of good people, and many hands makes light work.

So we're going at these demos this year like crazy.

Let's get everyone there the first day and get as much done as possible.

Then break the crews apart.

You might as well call Chase coach today,

we got a whole team here.

And just be careful of the end.

There's holes under the tarps, right?

Well, yeah, we'll get the tarp off, but that end,

structurally, it's a little funny.

Grab that corner, so we're not dumping the pine needles all on the roof up here.

How many cattle mats did he throw on the roof?

So once we peeled back the tarp that they had put on

to temporarily protect the inside, you could see how they had

used 2 by 4s and a couple sheets of plywood

to kind of, you know, support that.

[laughs] Look at that!

[Chase] And you really could see the extent of the damage from the pine tree.

- Wow! - Phew!

The damage was a lot more extensive than what was visible originally.

Okay, do not step there.

[laughs] Look at that.

You know, we got all the guys here today.

We got up on the roof, we peeled back the tarp

that they had put on to temporarily protect the inside.

And you really could see the extent of the damage from the pine tree.

It crunched right through a part of the roof.

It really is surprising that it didn't take the whole thing.

You'll fall through there in a hurry.

This is the way to roof right here.

All hands on deck.

Yeah, so Ashley wanted us to save this.

The owner put a lot of time into this.

So pretty cool piece, we'll save it,

she'll do something cool with it.

Awesome.

You know, this camp was in great shape,

but that tree just whacked everything apart.

So, you know, one thing,

they said the camp was perfect,

but if they had to change something,

they want a little more room, so roof's coming off.

We're going to add a steeper pitch, put some sleeping upstairs.

Typical cabin master dream job.

Throw some sleeping upstairs,

metal roof, place is gonna be met.

Dixie, Jedi, Chase, come here!

So we could hear Ryan screaming in the woods.

I thought he was yelling for toilet paper, but he had found a teepee.

Going to have to reconstruct a teepee, are we?

- Dixie? - Yes?

Driving home from Jefferson last night,

on Cooper road, there's a custom canvas company.

Like, for boats and stuff?

For boats, sheds, you name it.

They could probably do a teepee.

The homeowners, I'm sure, would be ecstatic.

Oh, they'd love a little teepee.

Bear pond, where a tree fell through the roof

and we're going to replace it with a teepee.

So the plan was to at least strip the roof of all the shingles.

Just to kind of see what we're working with

and just take it as far as we needed to.

We had so many guys here today ready to work that we were able to get it stripped,

and peel back a lot of the sheathing boards.

And while we were peeling them back, we got all the way to the edge

where the walls are, and we kind of decided that was a good place to stop.

Solid.

That'll hold the top.

Perfect timing, cabin masters!

With most of the guys, we were able to get the roof stripped back,

the sheathing peeled back, we got it tarped over just in time

for a thunderstorm to pass through.

And we're at a really good point to come up with a plan for rebuilding the roof

but first step is raising the camp, kind of leveling it out,

squaring the walls back up as much as possible

so that when we do start framing up the roof, you know,

we're close to where we need to be.

The team is out jacking the camp.

Every time they jack the back up, the front moves just as much.

Whoa!

Wow! Look at that!

We knew this wall was bad, but it's looking like

we're gonna have to tear the whole thing out now.

That wall there needs a little bit of adjustment I'm not sure about.

That wall was swinging, you could push it 6 inches each way.

Really what happened is those cables saved that camp.

I mean, it was pretty bad.

We spent a lot of time just getting that first floor back.

That'll make Ash happy.

She wanted to replace the whole wall with windows anyways.

So we're back in Hartford, it's week two, we were able to get the roof system off.

There's a little damage on the top foot, but that whole wall is coming off.

So if we break something, it's okay.

So B has an idea.

We're going to tie a rope around that.

Do a relief cutting, and the guys will pull it forward,

hopefully it'll separate right on the top plate.

Key word is "hopefully."

All right, give us...

I think she's going to go.

Pull. Just pull it nice and easy.

There you go, yeah, it's coming.

It's exactly what we want to happen.

Nice and slow. Yeah!

Nice! Touchdown.

[Chase] So we're at the Wilkinson camp.

Last night, there were some big thunderstorms.

So we got it tarped over, covered over,

and this morning, it's a beautiful, sunny day

and we have a few issues we found yesterday that we need to get into today.

[Chase] Holy moly.

That's bad.

[Chase] Holy moly.

The Wilkinsons' had told us that they had water issues.

When we came here, they had a tarp kind of sloping

to keep the water from running in.

They had drilled weep holes in the deck.

And all that water flowing that way

got into this gable end wall. [exclaims]

I mean, it's everywhere.

You know, from the back side, it doesn't look bad, but...

We got rot. Holy smokes.

That's bad.

So the plan is to cut these out,

put a couple of new joists in there,

flash it properly, and then put,

our pressure-treated back on there,

bolt it all together.

And then we should be in good shape

to build our gabled-end wall off of that.

[upbeat rock music playing]

[humming a flourish]

[Chase] All right. Progress.

We decided to go with a 12/12 pitch down to the camp.

We're gonna start putting the floor deck down in the loft,

and we're gonna kind of frame up a little bit of the downstairs layout

in order to support the entire roof system,

get space for a access to the loft,

- and that's about it. - [Ryan] Lovely.

[upbeat music playing]

Excellent. Good.

Chase and I were talking about cedar shaking this place.

We both had the same aha moment.

I think he said fairy tale, I said Santa's village.

Those little cottages you see? Gnome houses?

We both like, and then...

Justin and BT really killed it.

It came out better than I thought it would,

and it looks like you'd see at an amusement park,

or some gnome house in the gnome zone.

It looks like it's a random pattern, but it's not.

There's some math involved, it's just offset,

and we used a thicker shingle,

so it really, really looks good.

It just gives it depth and that cool characteristic.

We are back at the Wilkinson camp.

Francis is showing up today to pull back a lot of the soil around that side

and on the back gabled-end to help with drainage,

help with splashback back up onto the camp.

We decided to leave these original overhangs

because with the new pitch,

it would have brought them down over the windows.

It's nice to have such a wide overhang,

again to kind of keep water away from the camp.

And we're today working

on doing a covered porch on the water side.

And inside, we have whole new loft space.

Before, it had cable ties holding it all together.

We took those out, put in a new floor joist across the whole thing.

We're going to ship the small kitchen from over there to the front,

and that allows us to take a little space

to have a ladder up into the loft.

[Dixie] It's, it's a front porch blitz.

I hate having multiple screws in my pouch.

[Dixie] Keep 'em in your beard.

[drilling]

When I need a hand to hold a rafter,

I just tuck one or two right here,

and then I know I've always got one handy.

Whoa.

- [Ashley] Hi, Dixie. - Hey, Ash. What's up?

- The place looks great. Lots happened here, huh? - Not much.

- [Dixie] Just hanging out. - [Ashley] I like this color on the underside.

- It's real minty, isn't it? - Very minty.

So there's a lot going on. The guys are framing in the roof on the porch.

And I decided that I was going to paint

the fancy piece of trim that David had wanted to keep.

When we did the demo, I wasn't able to be here.

So, Ryan took these off and saved 'em for me.

David really liked 'em. He hand-painted them.

So I was thinking I could take and paint around these little things,

but with the trim color we have now.

[bird screeching]

[Chase] So Francis is here today with this excavator.

He's here to help dig away a lot of the debris and dirt

built up around the camp, and also dig a trench

for our underground power line.

Landscaping bucket and trenching bucket?

- Good to see you, buddy. - Good.

Brought my buddy Francis in today.

I saw a stump.

Unfortunately, the biggest section of that root's going right under the house.

I hate stumps!

I saw Francis with the machine.

[cheering]

Francis won.

Yeah. Trophy.

[laughs] Yeah, we won.

These colors really aren't similar enough.

I think I'm just gonna go for it

and just paint it.

Today we're at the Wilkinson camp.

Yeah. My job today is to paint the trim.

[Ryan] Schmidty, take your hat off for this scene, please.

We need full Schmidt.

[Ashley] Oh, my god. What is happening?

- [Ryan] I have not seen this. - [Ashley laughing]

[Ashley] All right.

[Ashley] Today I got to work with Schmidty

who's a senior in high school.

When we took off his hat, he had the most ridiculous hair.

[Ryan] What are you doing to him over here?

But I guess actually, he's cut it for a part

that he's playing in the school play.

[Ashley] You're a musical theatre performer? Tell me more.

I did four musicals in high school.

For? What ones?

The Addams family, Footloose, Into The Woods.

- Who were you in Footloose? - Ren McCormack.

- [Ashley] I don't remember him. - The dancer, yeah.

- [Schmidty] He was the lead. - [Ashley] Oh. Can you do a little something?

- A little something? - A little something.

[Ashley and Schmidty laughing]

I'll work with you all day. Forget about the rest of the guys.

[Ashley] And Schmidty, I'll keep him around.

He's quite entertaining.

He's got some great dance moves. Taught me a few.

[Ashley] I love it. [mumbles]

I love it. Looks great. I'm glad we decided to paint it.

- [Schmidty] Nice. - [laughs]

I'm headed over to the Wilkinsons' barn

to see if they have anything that we can use here.

Fantastic. We need a ladder to the loft.

A ladder? You think they have one there?

They mentioned they had a...

Have something like that?

- Yeah. Like a library ladder, something like that. - A library ladder?

So the Wilkinsons' came in after the tree fell on the roof

and took out all the furniture and moved it over to their barn.

- I'll let you know if I find anything cool. - Great.

[Ashley] Today I'm going to go to the barn

and check out what they do have to see what I can use.

- [Ashley] Hello? - Hi, Ash.

- Hey, how's it going? - [Dave] Hey.

- Welcome. - I hear you got some treasures over here.

[Dave laughs]

[Ashley] Isn't it beautiful here.

- [Kelly] Thanks. - [Ashley] This is gorgeous.

[Dave] Thanks for coming. End of the road.

[Ashley] Awesome. Yes. So, what do you have?

We dredged some stuff from camp when we had to get it all out.

You could look at our porch and say, well,

here's one thing we had at camp.

This fish right here.

- [Ashley] That fish looks great there. - [Dave] It does?

- [laughing] - It'll look great at camp, too.

- It is really cool. - It's up to you.

- [Ashley] Here we go. - [Dave] Come on in, Ash.

[Kelly] There are a couple of funky pieces here.

This was a great find.

[Dave] It would be awesome to incorporate this somehow in the camp.

- This is something I found in my travels. - This is neat.

[Ashley] Picking is a big piece of the design.

I feel like today is Christmas.

I found so much great stuff to bring back

to incorporate back into the cabin.

And so yeah, I'm ready to go.

I wish it was done.

- [Ashley] That's a gong. - [gong sounding]

Gosh, you guys have a lot of cool stuff.

I'm also supposed to be looking for a ladder.

- Yeah. Oh, yeah. - Yeah.

I like to hear that other people like the stuff that I've collected.

He's called me a hoarder before, which I'm not,

- but I just like my stuff. - You've got good stuff.

But Ashley liked my stuff, so I feel pretty good about that.

So, we've been here 24 years,

and this ladder's been here for 24 years.

I think it's a library ladder.

It could have been from a pharmacy,

it could have been from a haberdashery shop.

I have no idea.

[Ashley] I think it'll work, I'm not the expert.

So I'm gonna take some measurements and report back to Chase.

[Ashley] Chase has been working on this tepee.

Since I was here at Chase's workshop today,

he had me come down and help him get this tepee up.

- [Chase] Oops, it's going. - [Ashley] Oh, no. Watch out, watch out!

- [Chase laughing] Ashley. - [Ashley laughing]

[Ashley] I stopped by the Wilkinsons'.

They have a barn full of treasures, just like Chase.

I found an old library ladder,

so I put on top of my car and brought it over to Chase's.

- That's perfect. - That's what I thought.

- It might be too long, but... - No, it's perfect.

We took it off the top of my car and he thinks it's gonna be perfect.

We don't even have to really do anything to it.

- One project done. - That was easy.

Wham! This is how I like my special project days.

All right. Hopefully the tepee poles are that easy.

- Come with me. - Tepee poles? You have 'em?

Also in the Wilkinson camp, Chase has been working on this tepee.

Since I was at Chase's workshop today,

he had me come down and help him get this tepee up.

I got it. [grunts in pain]

They're pinching me.

Are you kidding me?

Uh, it's a bunch of sticks.

- Should we cut 'em? - No.

That are all like... I can't believe that that thing went up.

- Hey, what do you want me to do? - Start spreading 'em out.

- How big is this tepee? - That's what we have to figure out.

Anyway, We put 'em all together,

and then we pushed 'em up.

- [Chase] Oops, it's going. - [Ashley] Oh, no. Watch out! Watch out!

[both laughing]

[Chase] Ashley.

[Chase] Ashley was skeptical about the two of us being able to set it up.

[Ashley grunts] Oh, my gosh. What are we gonna do now?

- Okay, good. I got it. - [Ashley screams]

[Ashley] Start pulling 'em out.

[Chase] It was a little awkward just having those poles all together.

But once we got it stood up,

we were able to stretch it out and see what size tepee we were working with.

And we laid 'em out and then decided to use lumber tarp

to kind of cut the pattern.

[Ashley] Oh, yeah.

- [Ashley] You got a knife? Let's cut this tarp up. - I don't.

[Chase] We'll then take that pattern to somebody who works with canvas

and get something sewn up.

I've watched enough Project Runway to know how to make a dress form.

[upbeat music playing]

[Chase] The last couple of weeks,

we have finished off the gabled ends.

We reused the old siding on the lower part

underneath the new roof,

and interior was finished off.

On the front side of the camp,

we have the new 12/12 pitch of the roof,

and we have the existing roof line of the front-covered porch,

which didn't allow a lot of space for windows above that.

So, we would have had to buy specific triangles.

Those would have taken five, six weeks to order.

We couldn't fit square because it's a pitched roof.

So we had these two three-by-three windows.

They're fixed opening anyways. They're nice windows.

So what we did, we just turned them 90 degrees and put 'em in.

They fit in perfectly.

Nasty old piece of wood I found on the ground,

we're going turn into beautiful trim.

Those diamond windows stick out.

You have to do a reverse extension jamb to pad them out.

So I'm trying to think of the easiest way to get it done.

There's no right or wrong way,

just whatever I can figure out to do it quick and easy

and inexpensive.

Since I have a forty five-degree angle,

it's gonna be mitered together.

The sides are kind of soft.

I'm gonna square everything up.

Then I'll rework with that.

[laughs exultantly] Love it.

[Ashley] Windows are awesome. They'll let in lots of light up there.

They're kind of unique too. You don't see that too up there,

usually you just see one big one. They're funky people.

[Ashley] So I think they're gonna like it, and the balcony I've had the colors style

all the way through, from the porch all the way into the exit wall

and up to the loft.

What we decided to do on the front covered porch is

just have the stairs go right across the whole front,

we did away with the stairs on the side

because of the overhang and the rain dripping down,

nobody's going to want to walk through that,

So we knew we needed to railings on each side.

And we want to go with something that kind of matched up the siding.

I looked in my woodpile down back and I found two pieces of cedar

and they were the right length, you know, close enough.

So I brought those along, cut those, put those in place

and put the piece of cedar on top of it.

Now we've got railings on the sides, and there was nothing before,

it was lifted up a little bit, so we decided to put these railings on.

Just to keep people from going over the side

and make it a little bit safer.

Come on. Gus, Charlie come.

- Just hope it fits. - Come on.

Check out our new puppy, guys.

- What library did you steal this from? - Say "hi" to Charlie.

Our new puppy's name is Charlie.

[Ashley] She is a rescue from Georgia. She's a sweet little Georgia belle.

So Charlie's gonna be Gus' his little sister

and we're so excited to have her.

Woah, cool.

- It's going here on the fridge and stuff. - Yeah.

[Ashley] Like those cabinets there.

- That looks good. - Like it?

This place looks great. Yeah.

Feeling here is really great, um,

the windows let in so much more light, the cabinets being white, kind of break up

that wood, just, the whole place feels lighter.

[Ryan] Want me to secure it in place?

Oh, yeah, perfect.

- She's not even up two steps, is perfect. - It's cute, it's little.

I don't care that it's cute, it doesn't function properly.

It does all of that. This is a nice functioning loft.

This is a cute little space up here.

[Ashley] So, vote, what are we gonna do about this countertop?

[Ryan] We had everything for the kitchen,

We have the cabinets. We had the countertop.

We have the sink. We got the countertop in there, and unfortunately

had a backsplash. And we need a countertop without a backsplash

Counter top...

is no good, because it has a backsplash

that is going to go cover these outlets.

We really don't have time for this right now,

but that countertop is just not going to fit.

We're down to the final week and the punch list is pretty long, but it is doable.

[Ryan] We've got to get the kitchen cabinets in,

we gotta get countertops from Shad's.

We gotta get Doug to plumb that stuff in,

build the outside access point to the lake,

finalize the landscaping.

[Ryan] And our friends from? Roofing,

I've talked to them.

We have four days. They will get that roof done.

That roof is coming in today.

They're going to put it on tomorrow.

But other than that, we're getting close.

Besides the roof, the other last big project is going to be access to the lake.

Hi!

[Ryan] They were concerned about having a nice stairway,

so we are going to build nice big stairway.

Charlie fetches more than Gus. [laughs]

What I'll do is I'll cut the rest of these

and I'll build him as like a kit and then we can level the whole thing.

- Oh, yeah. - That is a lot easier.

You okay? Things are perfect. These stairs came together

just the way we thought they were going to.

Be a nice, easy transition up the hillside.

They won't be stubbing their toes on these old rocks anymore.

That looks mental.

It's the eye of the tiger.

That's it.

Today, um, I was just kind of purposing a few things, cleaning them up.

There was an old cabinet that David really liked from a private property.

So we grabbed that, and I was able to clean it up

and put in fresh contact paper.

- Look away! - [Ashley] Chase and Charlie have become close friends.

Chase is holding him like a baby.

I think Chase wants some more babies.

I gotcha, I gotcha, I gotcha.

[indistinct]

[Chase] The guys have been here working on the front steps.

We are almost ready to hand over the Wilkinson camp.

Last thing that needs to be done

is the countertop needs to go in, appliances in place.

We've got Doug here to finish up the plumbing.

Beautiful. Just in time. I mean...

You know, the roof's going on today as well.

So I feel like the last minute.

So now it's just a matter of cutting out an opening for the sink.

Drop the sink in, lock countertop, done.

This is done.

The Wilkinsons, after visiting their barn,

I see that they have a completely eclectic taste.

[Ashley] I was fortunate to be able to use

a lot of the furniture and what they had,

so I had my design team come in,

they placed all the items that we saw over the Wilkinson's barn,

so they want to keep the knotty pine look,

it's a lot of pine.

They're going to be ways that I can break up the pine.

I'm just going to do a couple finishing touches,

will feel like their place, but also it will have our spin on it.

- [woman] Pretty level. - [Ashley] No, I think it's even.

Mornin', Chase. Good morning!

I had my coffee. I'm ready to put up TP

[Ashley] You get your buddy Gavin today?

[Chase] Yeah.

All right. I'll show you where we're going to put it.

- [Ashley] Put what? - The teepee!

It's the last day at the Wilkinson camp, and Chase and I

have a few things to finish up.

One big one is installing the teepee.

We're confident with the teepee up.

We constructed it at Chase's.

At first, it wasn't easy at Chase's, but then it went up and we got it.

So I knew that we wouldn't have any problem getting it up today.

- Yeah. I painted this teepee last night. - [Chase] Fantastic.

Old main flag on it. I spent last night painting the canvas,

I put pine Tree and a star, which is the original main flag.

Also happened to be what David was wearing the day we met him.

Ta-ta-da!

The main flag.

Dave was actually wearing this same pattern, the day of the arrival.

I know. That's why I decided to do this.

- So smart. - I think is going to like it.

And I can't wait to see it all its own.

[Ashley] We're gonna make it. Oh!

Yeah.

How does it look, Chase?

- [Chase] Great. - All right. This is done.

All right. Cool. Here they come.

- Look at that. - Dude.

- Are we in the right place? - Oh, man.

- Wow! - [laughing]

Lead the way.

[woman] Oh, my God.

Teepee's done, camp is done, we're ready.

Go! Done.

All right, cool.

[Ashley] Here they come.

-Oh, man, -[laughs]

- Look at that. - Dude.

I like that finish up top.

[indistinct]

- Oh, man! - Window on the back...

- Roof... - Look at the roof.

Never have to shovel that roof off.

Was wondering, two windows...

- Hi! - [all] Hey!

Oh, my word!

[David] My mind is blown.

Oh, my God. This is ours?

This is great!

[Chase] Welcome back.

Are we in the right place?

We think that you're absolutely are.

I knew it was going to look different, but I know how.

First thing I saw was the roof and the colors,

I love the colors and I love the shingles on end.

I loved everything I saw right away.

- Brought me to tears. - So, we've been busy.

Oh, I guess so.

[Chase] Yeah, so we started out, you know, from the ground up.

Got a jacking level. We've got Francis in here with an excavator.

Pulled the dirt away from the camp.

We stripped the roof, ripped that off right away,

and started figuring out a plan to get a new pitch up there.

You can see on the front we have put covered porch over the front.

[David] I love that.

You know, we put a few fortifies in there just to help support that.

- Went through, tainted all the windows, all the trim. - That looks awesome.

Um, yeah. We wanted to stick with the green.

Yeah.

Maybe we should head on inside.

[indistinct chatter]

[Chase] Lead the way.

[Mrs. Wilkinson laughing]

- Oh, my God! - Look at these windows.

Did you see the kitchen? Oh, my God.

Wow!

Unreal!

[all laughing]

- You like it? - It's like a new place.

It is.

Kitchen was huge because I had a little dinky stovetop

with the push buttons that I had from the sixties.

Now I have a real stove and and oven and I can really cook here.

I love those.

All the windows are amazing.

Oh, my God. Look, they got a teepee out there.

[all laughing]

- [David] You kidding me? Teepee? - Oh, my God.

We knew that you guys like a little funky, so we were able to do

- different things. - You hit that one on the head.

This front wall pretty much disappeared...

You know, it was kicked out so bad, and we found a lot of rock along that

sill right there, so tore that out, you know,

put nice headers right across to get more windows and, you know,

same thing. locked that, frame that all in.

Man, how about that view lookin' out?

[all laughing]

The whole rest of the kit for you guys to check out.

Go around the corner. and look.

[Mrs. Wilkinson] It just looks so much brighter in here.

[Chase] There's your own cabinet.

- [David] Oh, my goodness. - [Mrs Wilkinson] Oh, wow.

[Chase] So all new electoral throughout.

All new electricals.

- Underground, right out to the fall. - Beautiful.

- Wow. - [Ashley] Look how nice that ladder fits there.

[David] That's cool. That's the entrance right there.

[Mrs Wilkinson] We have an actual, real, like bathroom.

A roof, a ceiling over the bathroom for privacy, for a change.

That's very nice.

Oh, my goodness.

I feel like I'm going upstairs in the barn at home.

[David] Better, it's better.

- This is... this is crazy. - [Mrs Wilkinson] Oh, my goodness.

Wow!

- Unreal. - Yes.

- Look at this. - [David] Oh, my goodness.

It's so much more room than I thought there would be up here too.

- Yeah, there is. - You can stand right up.

[David] Windows up there, man.

With a great view of the lake. Oh, my God, This is awesome.

We have these two new babies now.

And the loft upstairs,

that's a perfect place for them to play

and to have kind of a kid space upstairs.

There was lot of confined sleeping

without the log, now we can spread out.

It's gonna be great to have extra space upstairs.

No rains bother us here.

Oh, my gosh. This is the best.

- You got your gong. - This is our living room right here.

Yeah.

Yes. So we reused the deck boards, we had to peel it all back

to jacking level,

replace the rock, put those back down.

[Chase] New step right across the front.

- [David] I love that. - You know, railings on the side.

- I love it. - Actually reused your trim boards.

We painted your trim boards, and it get rid of your circles.

- I'm so glad you reused that. - Well, you said that you really loved it,

want to keep it.

[Ashley] So I spent a nice afternoon painting it.

And it just keeps...

Then we have the set of stairs down to the water.

- [Mrs Wilkinson] Oh, that's right. - [David] Oh, my God. Yes.

Way less sketchy than...

Less of shindigs. on the rock steps. Perfect.

Look at it from here, I mean, it's just...

- Yeah. - [David] Just absolutely awesome.

This is the best this camps ever been.

You know, it was a dark day in late February

when we're sitting at home reading the paper

and my neighbor down the road calls up

and says, "Hey, Dave, you got a big tree on your camp."

[David] We all loved it. We had just awesome times here.

It was not going to be that anymore.

But after what I see, this thing has just turned into,

- I can honestly say... - It was a blessing in disguise.

You just need the keys.

My daughter was born the day after we handed the key off to camp,

so she's been waiting this whole time with the rest of us

to see this place.

My son came two weeks early because he couldn't miss this awesome thing too,

so they're both great. and ready to have some fun here.

All your crew, you know, Chase, Ashley, Ryan, Dixie,

and all those unseen faces that worked on this

all sum along, God bless you for the fine work that you've done.
