- [Instructor] The very
first time you launch 3ds Max

you'll see a window
asking whether you want

the Classic or the Design interface.

Click on Classic

because you can always switch

to the Design Standard mode later.

Once you get past that screen,

you will see this screen,

which is the so-called welcome screen.

I'm not going to be using that,

so I'm going to disable it

so we won't see that again.

So, turn of the switch,

and then close the welcome screen window.

We're now seeing the
default 3ds Max interface.

But we can swap that interface out

for a different workspace.

Up in the upper right corner

we'll see workspace's default.

Click on that pull down list

and you can choose a different workspace.

For example, design standard,

and your icons may flicker,

but once the interface is loaded

you'll see the so-called
design standard interface.

And it exists in order to
provide a familiar environment

for users of other Autodesk
applications such as Revit.

There's some other
workspaces here as well.

You can experiment with those

but I'm going to be using
the default workspace

throughout the course.

I'll switch that back.

Additionally, we have the ability

to customize the interface,

and save out our own workspaces,

and that's done from this pull down list.

Just choose Manage Workspaces,

and in this window you have the ability

to save and delete workspaces.

I'm going to close that.

And once again, we're going to be using

the default workspace
throughout the course.
