[Beyond the Realm of Conscience]

Episode Thirty

Your ladyship, you wear these clothes everyday while accompanying Lady Yin.

I think it will work very soon.

Siu Shun, don't let General Man down.

Godfather.

I want to recommend someone to you.

If he came from a non-military background and learned riding and shooting in private

I'm afraid he isn't capable of becoming a commander.

- Your Majesty. - At ease, General Man.

Ma Yuen Chi wants his man to work under me.

He wants to take control of my military authority.

I've already turned him down.

He may not know you are on my side.

But I knew long ago that he wanted to control the military.

His aggression is getting more and more obvious.

But given our military power right now.

I believe we still can't fight Ma Yuen Chi even with General Man's assistance.

Ma Yuen Chi has decided to kill Your Majesty

once Lady Yin gives birth to the prince.

Now Lady Yin has already been pregnant for seven months.

He will carry out his plan very soon.

If Lady Yin labors early, the situation of His Majesty will be more dangerous.

We can't wait any longer.

We should take the offensive.

However, he's got the Special Tactics Force to protect him in the palace.

We may not be able to make it.

Ma Yuen Chi's troops are stationed in the areas around Tai Mountain.

Those aren't the appropriate places for us to take action.

Let's make Ma Yuen Chi go to Jiangsu where your troops are stationed.

Ma Yuen Chi still thinks I'm on his side. He won't take any precaution.

Good. I'll order you to conduct an inspection of the troops in Jiangsu.

You go there to prepare everything. Then I'll make Ma Yuen Chi go there.

We'll wait for him there We'll catch him for sure.

I'll depart for Jiangsu as soon as possible to get everything ready.

Hin Yeung and I will wait for your good news in the palace then.

Sis, are you tired? Do you want to sit down and take a break?

I'm not tired. It's sunny today.

It's refreshing to take a stroll in the garden.

You're in such a nice mood, sis.

Why don't I ask Fei Yin to prepare some snacks and tea?

We can look at the moon at the lily pond in the evening.

You keep me company everyday. I'm afraid it's too tough for you.

We just look at the flowers and the fish. It's so enjoyable. How would it be tough?

Be careful, sis. Don't get tripped by the stone.

Thank you...

Dad.

- Lady Lai, Lady Yin. - General Man.

Dad, you look great today. You came to the palace to see His Majesty?

No. I came specifically to Fairy Chamber to visit you, Po Yin.

As General Man has come, I won't interrupt you, sis.

I'll return to Joy Chamber.

Hey, this scent is really special.

Yes. Lady Lai likes steaming her clothes with flowers, so there's the scent.

She smells so nice.

What kind of flower is it?

I just ordered people to pick them in the imperial garden.

- I don't know what they are. - I see.

There's no need to find out so long as it's fragrant.

If there's a clear moon tonight.

I'll go to Fairy Chamber and invite Lady Yin to go to the lily pond together.

Would you care to join us, General Man?

I've got something to do tonight. Thank you for the invitation, Lady Lai.

Both dad and His Majesty are busy. It's lucky that I've got your company, sis.

I don't feel so bored then.

You will be a mother soon yet you are still like a kid. Lady Lai will laugh at you.

I have to take off. Please take care of sis, General Man.

- Be careful. Sit down slowly. - Thank you, Dad.

Po Yin, when did you become so friendly with Lady Lai?

You two are together everyday.

Actually I was too spoiled and unruly before. Lady Lai is friendly.

She cares about me very much, like Sam Ho does.

- Really? - Ever since I got pregnant

Lady Lai has come here almost everyday to keep me company.

Sometimes we take walks in the imperial garden too.

Sometimes we have tea together in Joy Chamber.

She always reminds me to stay in a jolly mood.

She's a good sister of mine.

Po Yin, you've been pregnant for seven months.

Do you feel unwell?

I've followed the imperial doctor's instructions carefully.

I'm wearing more clothes I'm very careful with my diet.

But maybe I'm physically weak. I don't have any appetite.

Even though the Food Department prepares my favorite dishes.

I can only eat a little bit.

Do you sleep well?

I did in the early months.

But recently I can't. I'll suddenly wake up.

Then I can't fall asleep again. Maybe the due date is forthcoming.

I get nervous. I guess I'm fine. You don't need to worry, dad.

If you are carrying a prince, then you will soon be made the queen.

You must take care.

I will. Thank you, Dad.

Well, you keep this jade Buddha.

You've carried this jade Buddha for years. It's your safety charm.

Why do you give it to me now?

There's peace in the country now. I don't need to go to war anymore.

So I don't need this safety charm now.

Why don't you carry it with you so that it will protect you and my grandson.

Thank you, dad.

Your status will be different because of your son.

People will get jealous of you. You must be very careful.

Although you shouldn't harbor any intention to hurt others

you should take the necessary precaution.

His Majesty loves me. You will take care of me.

I've got sis's company.

No one can hurt me. Don't worry, Dad.

My lady, General Man wants to see you.

Lady Lai.

At ease, General Man. Aren't you catching up with sis?

Why do you come to Joy Chamber?

I want to make sure I can still catch up with my daughter in the future

so I came specifically to see you, my lady.

I don't get it, General Man.

You're so clever. How will you fail to understand what I mean?

I've killed so many people in the battlefields with knives and swords.

But I didn't realize until today that

my sword fighting is far less dangerous than your tricks.

You kill without shedding blood.

You say I've killed someone? Is there a misunderstanding?

Here's the murder weapon. How will there be any misunderstanding?

These are ordinary flowers. How can they be a murder weapon?

My lady, is this kind of flower called fennel?

Yes.

It is not suitable for pregnant women.

If she smells the scent of this flower, it will do harm to her baby.

If serious, she will even miscarry.

Really?

You steam your clothes with the flowers. You've got the scent of it all over you.

You keep Lady Yin company everyday.

You are actually using the scent of the flowers as a sword

to kill her baby without a trace.

How would I do that? Lady Yin and I are like sisters.

How can I be so wicked to hurt her this way?

I just know the scent of the flowers is fragrant.

It has never crossed my mind that it will kill.

Is what you said really true?

I've been in many wars in all these years.

When the soldiers suffered any pain, they would use this flower as medicine.

I know the effect of this flower well. Your plan is flawless.

But you've failed to take into consideration of this.

I'm really innocent.

If I knew it's harmful to sis, I wouldn't have used it.

Fei Yin, you throw away all the fennel flowers right away.

Yes, my lady.

Thank God you've discovered it in time and reminded me so.

Otherwise I will really make a terrible mistake.

No, I must explain this to sis personally.

That won't be necessary. I haven't told Lady Yin about this.

She's simple and innocent. She isn't aware of the trickery in the palace.

I don't want her to feel upset or be in a bad mood.

I understand that you love your daughter.

This is really a misunderstanding.

I hope what you say is true, but I'll be upfront.

I won't allow anyone to hurt Lady Yin.

If someone plays tricks, I'll report it to His Majesty.

He won't tolerate his ladies setting traps to hurt each other.

He will punish such conduct severely. That's all I want to say.

I bid you to be careful, my lady. Goodbye.

Be my witness, heavenly father.

From today onward, Man Kim Fung and Bo Siu Shun

will become godfather and godson.

From now on, I'll treat Siu Shun as my own son.

I'll love him and take care of him.

Be my witness, heavenly father.

From today onward, I'll take General Man as my godfather.

I will serve him diligently as a son should do.

Mistress Yuen, why are your eyes red?

It's because of the smoke.

I've got such a nice godson all due to you, Mistress Yuen.

I will never forget your grace.

It's fate's work.

I know I don't have the same blessing. You must cherish it, General Man.

Am I really so nice?

You sound as if it's a great blessing to have me as a godson.

Actually, it isn't so difficult.

Master Bo and Chief Chung are my godfather and godmother too.

Right, even Chief Chung is your godmother.

Siu Shun, why don't you take Mistress Yuen as your godmother too?

What? One more?

Don't get me wrong, Mistress Yuen. I don't mean you aren't good enough.

But suddenly everyone wants to make me their godson as if I was so precious.

I feel flattered.

That means you will say yes?

I'll get a gift for doing so. I'll get someone to love me.

Only a stupid guy won't want that. Godmother.

Naughty boy. Thank you, heavenly father.

General Man and I have become Siu Shun's godfather and godmother.

- Tsui Wan. - Please come in, Suet Ha.

How are you? You've waited for so long. At last, he called you mom.

Although you're just his godmother, I guess you won't mind it, right?

Siu Shun told you everything, right?

This outcome is really a great blessing. How would I mind it?

Siu Shun said after the ceremony in Cloud Temple

you all went to General Man's place for lunch.

I've never dreamed about a family reunion at all.

Life is really unpredictable.

I thought I had lost him.

But after twenty odd years, I've found him again.

When Siu Shun called me godmother today, I was so happy.

I owe it all to this bell.

Suet Ha, I owe both Master Po and you.

I really don't know how to return your favor.

Don't be like this.

For Siu Shun's safety, General Man and I can't tell him the truth.

We must keep lying to him. I feel so uneasy.

It doesn't matter whether he knows the truth or not.

What matters is for you to feel happy. Sometimes a white lie may not be bad.

If there's the chance that he will feel unhappy after finding out the truth

why don't we carry on telling the white lie?

General, General Man has already left the palace for Jiangsu.

All right, I've told you to do the job. How's it going?

Don't worry, General. Everything's set.

Man Kim Fung is my best student. He's also my stupidest student.

General, have you really decided to do so?

Man Kim Fung is no longer my good student like before.

He's against me.

He's a threat to me. He offended me and forced me to keep my promise.

He set Mistress Yuen free, then he turned me down.

He wouldn't even take in someone I recommended.

He's worked against me time and again. He won't follow my orders.

Why would I keep him alive?

General Man.

This time I came to Jiangnan to discuss with everyone something important.

Deputy Commander Law, you summon Commander Cheung Ting Kwok for me right away.

General, Commander Cheung Ting Kwok is

replaced by Deputy Commander Lee Yui already.

When did the replacement take place?

Commander Cheung Ting Kwok's father died. He went home to take care of the funeral.

So Deputy Commander Lee Yui is acting the post.

Nonsense. Why aren't I informed of such an arrangement?

You are busy with your work in the palace, General.

I was about to report this to you.

I didn't know you would come to Jiangsu so soon.

- This is an excuse. - General.

I don't want to listen to your explanation further.

You're dismissed.

Yes, General.

Damn it.

Please don't be mad, General. Please use some tea.

Major Tsang, liaise with Lui Kwok Kan, Ho Ching Hong and Chan Chun Bong for me.

There's something I need to discuss with them.

General, Lui Kwok Kan is seriously ill. He's at home.

Ho Ching Hong was badly injured. He's decided to retire.

As to Chan Chun Bong, he's transferred to Xunzhou.

Is there any news from General Man?

Not yet, but I believe everything is going on fine.

I've already summoned Ma Yuen Chi. Everything will work out as planned.

Your Majesty, General Ma is waiting outside.

- Send him in. - Yes, Your Majesty.

- Your Majesty. - At ease.

- Much obliged, Your Majesty. - Much obliged, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty want to see me?

I want to go to Jiangnan by the end of the month. I want you to come with me.

Your Majesty want me to go with you to Jiangnan?

Guard Ko has visited Jiangnan for me in respect of the building of the monasteries.

Now most of the works are completed.

I want to go there with you to take a look, General Ma.

It's good for Your Majesty to leave the palace.

But you shouldn't go to Jiangnan. You should go to Tai Mountain in the east.

The Tung Ping troops are stationed there. It's within your jurisdiction, General Ma.

Do you want to inspect the troops there like General Man did?

Lady Yin will give birth to a baby soon. If it is a son, he'll be the prince.

So Your Majesty should go to Tai Mountain to make an offering to God.

I'm still young. It's premature to appoint a prince.

I think it's more appropriate to head for the south to worship Buddha.

Making an offering to God is a must. You have to do that.

But I've already decided. Do you want to defy my order, General Ma?

I dare not. I just want to remind Your Majesty to obey God's order.

Then we'll depart three days later. Well, General Man is in Jiangnan right now.

We can meet him there.

Your Majesty, General Man has already returned to the palace.

I told him to come see Your Majesty too.

- He's waiting outside. - Send him in.

- Your Majesty. - At ease.

Much obliged, Your Majesty.

General Man!

What's happened?

Deputy Commander Law, what's happened to General Man?

Your Majesty, after General Man had arrived at the barrack in Caozhou

we wanted to discuss with him the military situation.

But then he was poisoned that night.

When we found General Man, his body was already stiff. He couldn't talk at all.

Did you get him a doctor?

I ordered the medical officer to help him right away. It didn't work.

I had no choice but to take General Man back to the palace.

- Brother Man. - Have you caught the culprit?

No, Your Majesty. I'm sorry. I beg for your forgiveness.

General Man is seriously wounded. He can't tell us what happened.

I've interrogated the soldiers around and found no clue at all.

I can't believe General Man is hurt like this.

It's really a misfortune for Tang.

Summon the imperial doctor right away to treat General Man.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Good. You two have done a good job. I'm very pleased.

Thank you for your compliment, General Ma.

I just can't believe Man Kim Fung could be so stubborn. The poison didn't kill him.

It's even better that he's still alive.

I want to show the lousy emperor what I can do if someone works against me.

He would wish he's dead.

Even someone's strong like General Man has ended up like this.

Now Man Kim Fung is paralyzed. He's trash.

General Ma, do you want to finish him off once and for all?

Now Man Kim Fung is just a zombie. He's only got his rotten body.

Why take the trouble? Just let him stay alive miserably.

Man Kim Fung is so stupid to turn against you, General Ma.

He's asked for this.

Anyone who wants to fight me will be defeated.

They will be killed.

Man Kim Fung is loyal to the emperor and the country. He's really so stupid.

I'll keep him alive so that he will see how I'm going to take over the administration.

Brother Man must have been set up by Ma Yuen Chi.

Earlier brother Man refused to take his recommendation.

Ma Yuen Chi hated him for this.

He wanted to eliminate those who wouldn't listen to him.

He wants to establish his authority. He's also giving me a warning.

He wants me to know he's in control. He can kill anyone he likes.

Brother Man is seasoned.

Only someone close to him can put him off-guard and hurt him seriously.

Ma Yuen Chi is so cunning.

Maybe he's already bribed Deputy Commander Law and Major Tsang.

Both of them have followed Brother Man for years.

They are like brothers.

If this is true, they are really too wicked.

- Your Majesty. - How's General Man doing?

Your Majesty, General Man doesn't have any wound.

He's probably poisoned by crow-dipper.

What's the antidote for that?

There isn't any.

If General Man wasn't so strong, I'm afraid he would have died already.

I'll prescribe some medicine for him. He'll stay alive, but he's badly injured.

I'm afraid he will stay paralyzed for the rest of his life.

Dad...

- Your Majesty. - At ease, Lady Yin... General Man.

Brother Man.

General Man, you were set up. It wasn't your fault.

I know you've already done your best. Don't blame yourself for this.

I'll deal with the problem myself. You don't need to worry.

Brother Man keeps looking at the bookshelf.

It seems that he wants to show us something.

General Man, do you want to read?

You want to read Master Suen's Military Tactics?

Not this book.

How about Strategies of the Warring States?

Not this one either.

Dad, which book are you looking for?

Is it on the top row?

- Is it the Book of Poems? - It's this one.

The weeds look lonely. The dews are like frost.

The one I love is standing on the other side of the water.

This is about romance.

It's totally irrelevant to national affairs.

Dad, what are you trying to tell us?

General Man is a military officer.

He reads military books and history books only.

Why does he suddenly want to read the Book of Poems?

General Man is not referring to this book, but the feather?

Have you ever seen this feather before?

I remember it.

Prince Qi gave it to Dad three years ago.

You mean the late Emperor Mou Tsung's eldest son, Prince Qi?

Prince Qi is the oldest son, but his mom wasn't favored by His Majesty.

So he was neglected.

Once he went to Jiangnan for fun with Guardian Officer Pang Chung Yee.

When he came to Jiangsu he stayed in our villa there.

As he was neglected, he became an introvert.

He seldom talked. He looked so pathetic.

He lacked confidence.

- My lord. - My lord.

General Man?

My lord, why have you given up after playing for just a little while?

It's so difficult. I can't do it well.

If you humiliate yourself, others will humiliate you.

If you belittle yourself, how will others appreciate your ability?

Look.

Kicking the shuttlecock is like going to war.

The timing and the force must be right. Then you can control it easily.

Prince Qi stayed in our villa for two months.

During that period, dad taught him just about everything.

He told Prince Qi not to belittle himself. He must keep trying.

Prince Qi was greatly encouraged by dad. He found his confidence again.

Before he left, he gave dad a feather from the shuttlecock as a souvenir.

So that's what happened between General Man and Prince Qi.

I remember dad told me before that

it's fate that brought him and Prince Qi together.

Ever since, Prince Qi writes to Dad from time to time.

He treats Dad as his mentor.

Brother Man wants us to find the feather as he wants us to see Prince Qi.

General Man wants me to work with Prince Qi so as to take out Ma Yuen Chi.

Prince Qi is a member of the royal family. He's got military power.

He can help me eliminate Ma Yuen Chi.

But back then Empress Kwok tried to stop you from becoming the emperor

as she wanted to help Prince Qi to come to the throne.

Now you need his help.

What if Prince Qi and Guardian Officer Pang are still mad at you.

They may not agree to help.

I know it's a long shot, but still I want to give it a try.

The territory of Prince Qi is in Juzhou. It's hundreds of miles from the capital.

It's so faraway.

If I leave the palace suddenly, people will get suspicious.

I can go see Prince Qi on Your Majesty's behalf.

But there must be a pretext.

General Man's hometown is in Yizhou. It's close to Prince Qi's territory.

If you use the pretext of escorting General Man back home for rehabilitation

you can make a detour on the way and go see Prince Qi in Juzhou in secret.

Let's give it a try. I promise I will exhaust all means and do my best

to convince Prince Qi to help.

But I'm afraid Ma Yuen Chi won't let you leave the palace so easily, Hin Yeung.

General Man was set up. He's badly injured.

I've already ordered a thorough investigation of this.

I want the offender to be caught as soon as possible.

Your Majesty, the troops need a general.

It's imperative that we appoint someone to take General Man's place in the army.

- I've got suggestion. - Go ahead.

Deputy Commander Law has worked under General Man for years.

He's a brave warrior.

He should be promoted to take General Man's place.

Besides, Major Tsang has done a lot of good jobs too. He's a young hero.

He should be promoted to the post of Deputy Commander.

You're right, General Ma.

I'll appoint Deputy Commander Law to replace General Man.

He'll become a general.

Major Tsang will be promoted to the post of Deputy Commander.

- I... - I...

- Law Lok Shan... - Tsang Shing Chi...

- am grateful to Your Majesty. - am grateful to Your Majesty.

General Man is badly injured. Even the imperial doctor can't do anything about it.

I've decided to send General Man home so he can spend the rest of his life there.

Lady Yin is in the palace.

If General Man goes home, they will be separated.

But if General Man stays in the palace, both Lady Yin and he will feel sad.

It won't do any good to either of them.

But General Man's hometown is in Yizhou. It's a long way from here.

It's a waste of money to send him home.

A loyal officer is priceless. How can we just consider the expenses?

It's a long trip. I'm afraid he can't endure it.

He's poisoned, but he still stays alive.

I believe the trip won't be too hard for General Man.

Your Majesty insists on sending General Man home. Why?

No matter how tall a tree is, the fallen leaves still return to the roots.

Even birds and animals return to their homes.

It's General Man's wish to die in his hometown.

Emperor Tai Chung said something nice in The Administration of Ching Koon.

One needs a mirror to look at himself.

An emperor needs loyal officers to learn about his own mistakes.

General Man has fought for Tang for years. Everyone knows he's contributed a lot.

I want him to return to his hometown in an honorable manner.

I want everyone to know that if someone has done a good job for the country

he will be substantially awarded.

You're right, Your Majesty.

Your decision will boost the morale of the soldiers.

The people will feel grateful too.

May I suggest building a town hall for General Man in his hometown

in praise of his contribution.

People can go pay respect to him after he dies.

You're right, Guard Ko. Let's do that. You escort General Man home on my behalf.

Yes, Your Majesty.

General Man has served the country for his whole life.

He is a loyal officer to the country, a blessing for the people.

I want to make a statue for him so that people will remember him forever.

Your Majesty is absolutely right.

I have to accomplish an important task this time.

I need to finish the job within two months and return to the capital.

Lady Yin has been pregnant for seven months.

The baby will be due in three months.

Time is running out.

This trip is risky. It's our last card. We either make it or die.

His Majesty loves the people. God will bless Tang for sure.

You'll make it this time.

If we can eliminate the evil, there would be peace in the country.

Then we can leave the palace and go to your hometown Yangzhou in Jiangnan.

You promised to grow wild Chinese viburnum trees in front of the house.

I remember that. We plant the trees in front of the house.

We'll sit under the trees. I want to plant some ginkgo trees too.

The wild Chinese viburnum would bloom between spring and winter.

When they wither in fall, there will be the golden ginkgo.

We can even use them to make sweet soup.

That's well planned.

Hey, remember to put a lamp in front of the house.

Of course I won't forget that.

When it's the evening, the lamp in front of the house will show me the way home.

I'll prepare dinner for you at home.

- Hm. - What's the matter?

Can you smell the food? Will you please get me a bowl of rice, honey?

Sam Ho, this will happen very soon.

You went outside the palace earlier and bought me some handkerchiefs.

I've already made a silk blanket. There are some left.

I can make a smaller blanket with them. Do you want it to be red or green?

Make two then. One for our son and the other for our daughter.

I wonder whether I should make the red one or the green one first.

Sam Ho, you are?

Yes...

Hin Yeung, you must come home early.

I hope we could return to our hometown sooner for a stable life.

The moon is covered by the clouds. There are so many stars tonight.

You told me before that there are twenty-eight constellations.

Seven constellations form a sphere. There are four spheres, right?

Last time I told you to look at the Winged Snake star.

This time you look at the Tsun star next to it.

When it shines brightly in the sky, I'll be back. We'll meet again.

I will remember that. Promise me to come back as planned.

Your task is important. I'll count on you, guard Ko.

I'll do my best. I won't fail Your Majesty.

Dad got hurt once he wasn't carrying the jade Buddha. I feel so guilty.

Now, I'll return the jade Buddha to you.

I want you to be safe home.

General Man, don't worry.

I promise you I will take good care of Lady Yin.

Your Majesty, we have to go.

Let's go.

Stop there.

- Your Majesty. - At ease.

Much obliged, Your Majesty.

General Ma, why did you stop the procession?

General Man is a major officer.

Your Majesty wants him to return home honorably.

He's leaving in such a hurry.

How will that be honorable? Besides, the offender isn't caught yet.

It's risky for General Man to leave the palace.

If the rebels try to hurt him again, the consequence will be dire.

Guard Ko is leading over fifty imperial guards to protect him.

Isn't General Man's safety guaranteed?

I'm afraid it's still insufficient.

So I've ordered the Special Tactics Force to escort him too.

General Law will be in charge. Deputy Commander Tsang will assist him.

This will ensure General Man's safety.

Such a procession will show how honorable and powerful General Man is.

You've really considered everything General Ma. Let's do that then.

Much obliged, Your Majesty.

- General Law. - Yes, sir.

You join Guard Ko's escort team then.

- You hit the road right now. - Yes, sir.

Dad, you must take care.

You're exhausted, my lady. Why don't you go to bed?

I can't fall asleep. I worry about dad. It's a tough journey for him.

My lady, please use some tea.

Ouch.

My lady, are you alright? Sit down.

Ouch... My tummy hurts... It hurts.

My lady, are you in labor? You're only pregnant for seven months.

Your Majesty, I picked the flowers myself

and ordered the Food Department to make this dish of flower cakes.

Please try them.

Thank you.

You leave it here. I'll eat it later.

Your Majesty, you've lost much weight recently.

If something's bothering you, you can tell me.

Let me share the burden with you.

I'm not bothered. You don't need to worry, Lady Lai.

Your Majesty, Mistress Lau of the Imperial Household Bureau wants to see you.

Your Majesty, Lady Lai.

Mistress Lau, what's the matter?

Sam Ho, is there a secret between you and His Majesty that I can't hear?

Lady Lai, why don't you return to Joy Chamber first?

All right. I'll leave then.

Sam Ho, what's the matter?

Just now Lady Yin felt unwell. The imperial doctor did a checkup for her.

He said her ladyship would give birth to a baby early.

A premature delivery?

The imperial doctor said her ladyship's pulse was like a current.

It's like falling rain. It takes a month at most.

She will labor at any time and give birth to the baby.

If her ladyship really gives birth to a prince now

Ma Yuen Chi will take action immediately.

I'm afraid Hin Yeung can't hurry back in time to protect you.

You know Ma Yuen Chi's plot already?

Hin Yeung has told me everything. Ma Yuen Chi is so aggressive.

He plots to kill Your Majesty when the prince is born.

Don't over worry, Sam Ho.

I'll order the imperial doctor

not to tell anyone that Lady Yin will have a premature delivery.

I'll send someone to tell Hin Yeung to expedite and return to the palace sooner.

When I get a grandson, His Majesty will be killed?

God, why are you so cruel?

Ma Yuen Chi is in command of the army. Even His Majesty is afraid of him.

At first, there's General Man to support His Majesty.

But now, he's poisoned and become paralyzed.

His Majesty has lost an important assistant.

He's in a dangerous situation, Your Highness.

His Majesty is in danger. What shall I do?

God will protect Tang.

If sis gives birth to a princess instead of a prince, His Majesty will be safe.

But if it happens otherwise and a prince is born...

I can't risk His Majesty's life.

We must save His Majesty. We must thwart Ma Yuen Chi's plot.

The only way to do so is to kill the baby sis is carrying.

You want Lady Yin to miscarry?

If I were in sis's shoes, I'd rather give up the baby

in order to keep His Majesty alive and save the country.

No... No, Lady Yin has been pregnant for seven months.

The baby she's carrying is a human being already.

How can I ask her to abort it?

This is the only option, Your Highness.

To keep His Majesty alive, we need to sacrifice the prince to-be.

Please reconsider this, Your Highness.

You must choose between His Majesty and your grandson.

No. I can't kill my grandson. I can't kill my grandson.

You have to do it, Your Highness.

For the sake of Tang, the country, and His Majesty, someone must sacrifice.

Your Highness told me before that I must get along with sis in harmony.

We must work together to assist His Majesty.

The country depends on His Majesty.

If something bad happens to him, not only the ladies in the palace

but also the people all over the country will suffer.

Your Highness, please explain this to sis.

I... I really can't tell her so.

I know it's difficult for you.

Let me do this tough job for you, Your Highness.

Go.

Lady Lai? Why?

- Escort her out. - Yes, my lady.

You stand on guard outside.

By the order of the empress, no one is allowed to come in.

Yes, my lady.

Sis?
