[The King's Woman]

[Episode 7]

What are you doing, Li?

Nothing much.

Li, there's still some time before the sword fight.

Why don't you practice with me?

- Let's review our stances. - Sure!

What is it?

It's nothing really.

I don't know if you still remember the sword fighting style

we came up with as children?

Of course I remember.

I remember we swore to one day dominate the fighting world with it.

You're not to leave me.

You have to be with me for life.

I'm fine as long as you're safe and sound.

Should anything happen to you

I won't be able to go on living.

Is it going to rain?

Probably.

Let's find a place to stay out of the rain.

Sure.

I have already come of age and now have full authority over the nation.

Remove the post of chancellor.

This is...

Your Grace, I concur.

Should an official own a bigger city than the capital, the nation is in danger.

Should an official be more respected than the king, the king is undermined.

Your Grace is wise to make such a decision!

Your Grace is wise!

Your Grace is wise.

- Your Grace is wise! - Your Grace is wise!

Your Grace, allow me to offer some suggestions.

Although Marquis Wenxin has been removed from his post as chancellor

and left Qin State, he did outwit the six states for years

and is renowned throughout the world.

He once wielded great authority in Xianyang City and governed the state.

He knew Great Qin better than anyone else.

Should Your Grace set Marquis Wenxin free to pledge allegiance to other states

it will bring about trouble.

Therefore, in my opinion

we should send our men to monitor Marquis Wenxin discreetly

to watch his every move in his estate.

This sounds very sensible.

Zhao Gao!

Present.

I'll leave this to you.

Yes, Your Grace.

How is it? Do you feel warmer?

Senior...

Do you remember how I used to love sneaking out to look at the moon?

I do.

I remember whenever the moon was really big and full

you'd make me take you to the mountains to look at the moon.

I remember one time, I ran so fast that

when I turned around, I found that you hadn't kept up with me.

Then I suddenly panicked.

I was so nervous that I got lost in the woods.

I remember that as well.

When I finally found you

you burst into tears the moment you saw me.

You gave me such a fright.

Wherever I was...

you could always find me.

When I was a child, I looked forward to growing up.

I thought I'd be able to understand the joys of life once I grow up.

Who knew that I would only realize

the bliss of a carefree childhood after I grew up.

Lately, Grandfather's words keep coming to my mind.

Live not for all in the world, but for yourself.

In such turbulent times...

How can I live just for myself?

Senior...

If only you would live in anonymity with me

and not care for the fighting world

I'd risk being hunted down by King of Qin to run away with you.

You're right.

Let's hope I can learn a lot from the Soaring Sword of Yan.

Our clothes should be dry.

Let's head back.

Mister Tian Guang is still waiting for us.

Senior...

Have you ever liked me?

Do you see me as a younger sister?

Or as a woman?

I'm sorry.

I got a bit too emotional, so I--

Li!

Li...

You're the only one I love.

I have nothing to give.

I don't know what I could give you.

But ever since I became sensible

I swore to always care for you.

Never will I let you down.

Never will I make you sad.

Li...

If I can't care for you in this lifetime...

It's meaningless for me to go on living.

Senior...

You must live.

You must live for the people.

You must remember that.

Whatever happens, wherever you are...

My heart will forever belong to you.

You must remember that.

Senior...

You must remember...

I am always yours.

Li.

What are you thinking about?

I'm thinking...

I'm so happy in this moment.

It's so blissful, it almost seems unreal.

Li...

From this day forth, wherever you go...

I'll always hold on to you.

In life and in death.

I'll set out now.

Senior, be careful on the way!

Miss Gongsun, when do you plan to set out?

The army of Qin State is already on their way here.

Mister Tian...

Please look after Senior.

Hold him back from doing anything foolish because of me.

He bears greater responsibilities.

I don't wish for him to held back for my sake.

Don't worry.

Miss Gongsun, welcome back to the palace.

Miss Gongsun, welcome back to the palace!

Li...

You're the only one I love.

If I can't care for you in this lifetime...

It's meaningless for me to go on living.

Senior...

From today...

The Li who belonged to you is dead.

I hope that from now on, you can forget me.

Head back to the palace!

You're not to leave me.

Not even a step.

You have to be with me for life.

Not even one day less.

[Soaring Sword of Yan, Gao Jian Li]

The look in your eyes is astute and alert.

Sturdy waist and hips.

Ample external and internal strength.

You are indeed Gongsun Yu's prized disciple.

Jing Ke greets Warrior Gao.

Enough small talk.

Swordsmen should communicate with their swords.

Let's begin.

Miss Gongsun, welcome to the palace.

Miss Gongsun, the harem is the residential quarter of concubines.

To ensure the safety of the king

no one but the palace guards may carry weapons.

This bronze sword was given to me by my grandfather.

I never took it off, even when I visited the deceased King of Wey

or the lord of Wei State with Grandfather.

Why should I remove it now?

There are many in this world who wish to harm His Grace.

Regulations of Qin State's palace differ from that of others.

We can not ignore regulations.

Miss Gongsun, please hand over your sword now.

Please don't make it hard for me.

Please guard it with your life.

When I am buried, it shall be buried with me.

Miss Gongsun, do not worry.

After you.

It is indeed Gongsun Swordsmanship.

It's balanced and smooth, with a reserved aura.

A grand master's style.

It's just a pity that--

You mean to say...

You have too much on your mind and you're too gentle.

If you could free yourself from your restraints

you would become even more outstanding.

Come! Bring it on!

Grand Empress Dowager, thank you for sending rice especially for me.

I know that you like rice.

People of Chu, like us, prefer to have rice.

It's too dry here in Great Qin.

The staple here is millet.

After having millet for some time, I do miss having rice.

It's such a pity

I can't also share the delicious poultry I had

at the Chu State palace with His Grace.

Grand Empress Dowager, you are right.

Speaking of His Grace, I wonder if you know that

His Grace brought in a female commoner of Wey to the harem today.

A female commoner of Wey?

Yes.

A commoner of Wey's Puyang City, by the name of Gongsun Li.

His Grace gave orders to all states to have her captured.

The officials had thought His Grace went to such great lengths

because she was a wanted rebel.

Who would have expected Commandant Li Zhong

would escort her straight to the harem today?

She is now attended by the maids to a bath.

This woman is neither a princess nor a daughter of the nobility.

There are many beauties in the seven major states.

I really can't understand why His Grace would bring in such a woman.

A puny woman of a subjugated state...

How can she be allowed into the palace of Great Qin?

Grand Empress Dowager, you are right!

His Grace just came of age and is busy with state affairs.

I'm in charge of assisting him with the affairs of the harem.

Should there be any trouble it would worry His Grace unnecessarily.

Which concubine in the harem isn't carefully selected by Your Highness?

Myself, Madame Min, and every beautiful and virtuous lady

get along well and respect one another.

Now that some female commoner of an unknown background is joining us

it would only harm Great Qin if she stirs up trouble.

His Grace is a man after all.

He's just acting on a whim.

He fell for some beauties out there and brought them back to the palace.

Is there a need to fuss over it?

Grand Empress Dowager, you are right.

- Don't! - Step back!

Miss Gongsun...

What is going on?

Miss Gongsun is holding sharp blade and refuses to let us near her!

- Step back! - Miss Gongsun!

So many covet the title of Virtuous Lady.

Why would you do this to yourself?

- Miss Gongsun! - Miss Gongsun!

Quickly! Summon the imperial physician!

Miss Gongsun, could I have misdiagnosed?

What is it?

Miss Gongsun, may I be so bold as to say that

you are no longer a virgin?

What are you trying to say?

What exactly is the matter with me?

Miss Gongsun.

I have to report this matter to His Grace first

before I can inform you of it.

Miss Gongsun, please spare me!

Tell me now.

What is the matter with me?

Miss Gongsun...

You... You are with child.

What did you say?

Li!

Li! I've returned!

Mister Tian Guang!

- Young Warrior Jing! - Mister Tian Guang!

Zhaoge is so far away.

How have you returned so soon?

Did you meet with the Soaring Sword of Yan?

Of course.

I have learned much from the match with Warrior Gao.

Warrior Gao also told me to go see Qi State

but I wasn't in the mood.

After all, a husband shouldn't travel far without his wife.

I'll go and look for Li.

- Li! - Young Warrior Jing!

What is the matter?

Your Junior Li... has already left.

She left?

What does that mean?

Miss Gongsun... has gone to Qin State.

What... what do you mean?

She knows the King of Qin is hunting her.

Why would she go there?

Indeed...

She made me keep it from you.

Actually, she brought the antidote for the poison back from Xianyang.

Xianyang?

Who could possibly cure me of such a deadly poison?

I asked about the antidote in the city.

I heard there are many skilled physicians who can cure poisoning.

I inquired about many of them.

They said that a sorcerer could cure you of the poison.

An old lady told me about him.

- This prescription-- - Stop asking about it!

Just focus on getting well.

Didn't you say you wanted to become skilled in swordsmanship

and protect me?

How can you recover properly if you act like this?

She... She was lying to me.

She wasn't willing to tell you the truth.

This is my assumption...

Perhaps, she made a deal with the King of Qin.

Why?

She did it to save you.

Do you understand?

When she left, she only took the bronze sword that her grandfather gave her

and the silk scarf you bought for her.

Young Warrior Jing!

Jing Ke!

Honestly, be it Qin State or Xia Hou Yang...

Neither matters to me.

I just wish to find a blessed place with you

and get away from all this trouble.

We could just be an ordinary couple.

You must live.

You must live for the people.

You must remember that.

Whatever happens, wherever you are...

My heart will always belong to you.

You must remember that.

The king has arrived!

You are dismissed.

- Yes. - Yes.

You've kept your promise.

I came here for the sake of my senior.

Now that you're in my palace...

Don't you dare dream of leaving.

Why does it have to be me?

At your command, all the feudal lords would offer you

thousands of beauties for pleasure.

Why must you have me?

Those women who throw themselves at my feet...

bore me.

I am not your plaything.

The more you resist me...

The more I want you.

You like to bite?

Your Grace.

What is it?

It concerns Miss Gongsun.

- Enter. - Yes!

Greetings, Your Grace.

Imperial Physician, what is so urgent?

Your Grace.

When I read Miss Gongsun's pulse today, she...

She...

What is it?

I'm terrified.

According to my diagnosis...

Miss Gongsun is about one month pregnant.

Imperial Physician!

Abort the child!

If you wish to kill the baby, then kill me first!

Get lost!

Yes.

Do you think I won't kill you?

[Preview]

I've heard that Virtuous Lady Li came from a warrior's family?

She must be such a good fighter.

How about this?

Why doesn't Virtuous Lady Li perform an eye-opening performance

for the concubines of the harem?

Virtuous Lady, don't disappoint them.

My greatest act of mercy to you is letting you keep your child.

What more do you want?

You had better not forget...

I am the one who allowed you to give birth to that bastard.

He is no bastard.

He's my senior's--

What are you going to do?
