[The King's Woman]

[Episode 6]

So it was because of me...

I got Senior into this predicament.

Mister Tian...

I have a plan.

Please lend me a swift horse.

What are you going to do?

Please look after Senior for me.

I shall always remember your kindness!

Miss Gongsun!

It takes two days of riding full-gallop to get to Xianyang.

If I ride without resting

I might make it there half a day sooner.

Senior, you must wait for me!

You must wait for me!

Li...

You're hurt!

Let me attend to your wound.

Does it still hurt?

Step aside!

Here you are.

This is my palace.

Why haven't you bowed to me?

Commoner, Gongsun Li , greets Your Grace!

You seem to have gotten thinner.

Your Grace has met me?

Your Grace, please forgive me for offending you.

I pride myself in doing nothing but serving justice and humanity.

Why would Your Grace have me captured?

This is my palace.

No one dares to interrogate me.

Please forgive me for being rude, Your Grace!

You have come to my palace alone.

Do you not fear death?

I do not fear death.

I only hope that Your Grace can save my senior.

I won't take your life.

Lift your head up.

Take a look at me.

How could it be you?

Why is it you?

It seems that I, the royal, was too drunk and entered the wrong room.

The royal one?

Young Master Zhao and His Grace are acquainted?

Yes... We... We're acquainted.

Since King of Wey was relocated to Yewang Fief

he has been closely monitored and restrained by Qin State.

He's not to be approached by strangers and is shut away from the world.

If His Grace is shut away from the world

how did Young Master Zhao bring me to be the manor to be treated?

Now that the world is in such chaos

should you run into the soldiers of Qin State one day

this badge will keep you safe from harm.

I should have known...

Someone who can come and go from the Wey State King's Manor freely

and be highly respected by the King of Wey himself

could be none other than the King of Qin.

That's why you went so far to have me captured.

You said that I once helped you.

Is this how you repay my kindness?

Say what you will.

Now that Great Qin is the most powerful of all states

you should consider yourself lucky that I allowed myself

to owe you a favor.

But you sent someone to hurt my senior.

The ends justify the means.

So you gave me the badge since you had already plotted this?

I only wished to protect you.

I don't need your protection!

Why have you come to see me then?

Isn't it because you have a favor to ask of me?

You should now understand that I won't take your life.

It is you I want.

Senior's life is hanging by a thread...

He's all I have left.

I can only hand myself over in exchange for his antidote.

Grandfather had high expectations of Senior, I can't let him down.

Fine.

Then give me the antidote.

My senior is dying.

How much time do you need?

Three months.

I'll bring the antidote to my senior and wait till he has fully recovered.

During these three months, no one will know of this agreement between us.

Once three months are up...

I'll come to the palace immediately.

But if you harm my senior

you will never have me.

All right.

Just three months.

If you break your promise...

You should know how I will deal with you then.

And your senior.

Your Grace.

Miss Gongsun has been escorted out of the city by the Tiger Valor Army.

She has headed towards Anyi.

Very good.

Your Grace, I boldly speculate

that you only made Gongsun Li a wanted criminal

but ordered that she not be injured while you had her senior poisoned

because you already knew she would surely sacrifice herself

to save Young Warrior Jing?

Li Zhong, do you think I'm cunning?

I wouldn't dare think so.

I just know that in this world, only one man can make me envious.

Li...

Li...

Mister Tian! Mister Tian!

Miss Gongsun!

Mister Tian, how is my senior doing?

He...

Miss Gongsun, where have you been?

I was so worried about you.

I'm sorry to have worried you.

I was afraid I might not be able to get the antidote, so I didn't tell you.

Where did you go for the antidote?

Xianyang.

You went to Qin State?

It usually takes four days to go to and from Qin State.

Miss Gongsun, you must be exhausted.

Mister Tian, this is the antidote.

Please have Senior take it to cure him of the poison.

Sure.

Miss Gongsun?

Miss Gongsun? Miss Gongsun!

Senior?

- Senior. - Li.

- You're awake! - You finally woke up.

Are you all right?

You slept all day and night.

We couldn't wake you at all.

Mister Tian jokingly said that I took the antidote

but why do you seem to be the drugged one?

You slept so soundly.

Don't I always sleep in?

When I finally get to sleep, I can even skip quite a few meals.

You used to tease me saying

that I might as well spend the night in a pig sty.

Are you hungry? Would you like some congee?

I'll get some later.

It's getting late.

It's a bit chilly at night.

I'll go get some firewood.

I'll help you with it.

Sure.

Miss Gongsun.

I didn't tell him you went to Xianyang.

He's been unconscious for days.

He knows not of the time passed.

Yet the first thing he said when he woke up was

to ask where you were.

He even thinks the medication was prescribed and made by me.

That's good.

May I be so bold as to ask who actually gave you the antidote?

One so prestigious that the gods bow in awe, and yet as evil as a ghoul.

I understand.

Mister Tian, you must keep this secret.

Senior can't know that I went to Xianyang.

Senior is skilled in martial arts and is entrusted with

the responsibility to protect our nation.

Therefore, he has high aspirations.

I don't wish to hinder him from achieving his goals.

Miss Gongsun, you are truly a heroine of a noble character.

I have learned much today.

You're too kind, Mister Tian.

You should get some rest.

You should now understand...

It is you I want.

Fine.

Give me the antidote then.

How long do you need?

Three months.

I'll bring the antidote to my senior and wait till he has fully recovered.

How is it?

Is this warm enough?

It's fine.

Look at how worried you are.

You're treating me like I'm a child?

Look, I can still pull off a few stances.

All right now.

You haven't recovered it.

How can you overexert yourself like that?

Not to mention it will affect your energy.

But if you get sick again, what would I do?

I've made you worry these past few days.

I'm really sorry.

Since you know I'd worry

shouldn't you behave and recuperate quietly?

By the way, did you bring this antidote?

Or did Mister Tian find the prescription for it?

I slipped in and out of consciousness then.

I don't remember much.

But I remember Mister Tian said

I was poisoned with a deadly poison from Qin State's sorcerer.

Who could possibly cure me of such a deadly poison?

I asked about the antidote in the city.

I heard that there are skilled physicians who can cure poisoning.

I inquired about many of them.

I heard that a sorcerer could cure you of the poison.

An old lady told me about him.

A sorcerer?

That sorcerer is one very bizarre man.

He only agreed to see me after I waited for a whole day and night.

He wouldn't give me the antidote right away either.

He insisted on performing divination first for permission.

He said that if the result was good, he'd give me the antidote.

How bizarre.

And then?

And then... The heavens helped me, of course.

The divination went well, so he gave me the antidote.

I then brought it back to you.

I didn't really trust him in the beginning.

I thought that he must be a liar.

Who knew that the antidote would really save you?

Fortunately, he's no charlatan.

Otherwise, I would have definitely thrashed his house.

This prescription--

Stop asking about it!

Just focus on getting well.

Didn't you say you wanted to become skilled in swordsmanship

and protect me?

How can you recover properly if you act like this?

You've become so frail looking after me the past few days.

Thank you, Li.

If it weren't for you, I would be dead by now.

What's wrong?

Are you keeping something from me?

No, Senior.

It's getting late.

You should get some rest.

That would be best for your recovery.

Here, I'll help you lie down.

Sure.

Careful.

Get some rest.

I'll head back to my room.

Once three months are up...

I'll come to the palace immediately.

All right.

Just three months.

If you break your promise...

You should know how I will deal with you.

And your senior.

- 63... - I can't hold it up much longer!

64!

65... Lift them up higher!

66.

67.

Count faster.

68...

69...

What are you doing?

- 70. - More water?

It's not balanced.

Quickly! Raise your arms up!

71...

72...

Count faster!

73...

Just hang in there a bit longer.

74--

- Mister Tian. - Mister Tian.

Mister Tian Guang.

You have been quite energetic these days!

But you must not push yourself too hard.

We owe much to you for helping us and taking us in when I was injured.

It was only because of you that we had pulled through the crisis.

Thank you so much, Mister Tian.

Don't be so polite!

I just did what I should have done.

The weather is quite nice today.

Why don't you both take a walk in the city?

- That sounds good, Senior. - Sure!

We'll take a trip into the city.

- Sure. - We'll go and get ready.

Go on.

Look at you! Couldn't you hang in there a bit longer?

I was really running out of strength.

Young Warrior Jing is young and courageous.

He's deeply devoted to Miss Gongsun.

If he were to learn the truth, how could he hold himself back?

[Anyi, Wei State] Take a look at this.

Anyi is indeed the first capital of Wei State, before Daliang.

It's just as prosperous as Daliang.

Exactly.

According to the legend

Yellow Emperor's consort, Lei Zu, taught people to breed silkworms here.

Silk scarves!

They must have fine silk here.

Why don't I take you to shop for some beautiful silk first?

Let's go!

There's a silk stall here.

Come and take a look at the finest silk scarves.

We have various designs.

Silk scarves!

Senior, don't waste your money.

When would I get to wear a silk scarf?

You girls are always like this.

You say one thing, but mean another.

Is the red one nicer or the pink one?

Your wife has fair skin.

She'll look lovely in any of these.

She looks good in red and green too.

This one is quite nice as well.

A violet one.

Since you're in such a good mood and want to get me a silk scarf

I'll pick this one.

Sure.

How much is it?

A copper coin.

The both of you make such a beautiful couple.

If you have a child

the boy would be handsome, and the girl pretty.

Have a few more children, contribute to the nation.

Silk scarves!

Is it nice?

- It looks good on you. - Take a look.

I'm just worried everyone on the street will be charmed by you.

What are you saying? Everyone can hear you.

- Let's get going. - All right.

We have all sorts of designs.

Silk scarves!

Step aside!

Over here.

Step aside!

- What is it? - There are guards.

They might have seen the wanted poster.

Let's find a place to hide, come!

Don't bother, Senior.

Haven't you noticed that my portrait isn't posted anywhere?

When were the posters taken down?

You've been nursing yourself back to health for the past two months.

It's normal that you didn't notice it.

Why didn't you tell me?

Qin State went all out to hunt you down.

Why would they give up so quickly?

I've been looking after you all this time so--

I don't know why either.

See? I told you it's fine now.

Maybe they realized they went after the wrong person.

Let's go.

All right.

How about we go get something delicious?

You told me about some kind of food?

It's some kind of fish, right?

Yes, there's a type of fish that's particularly tasty.

We'll have some fish then.

Sure!

Your Grace, when Duke Mu of Qin was in power

there were still many feudal lords, and the Zhou Dynasty ruled by virtue.

Hence, annexation was not carried out.

But after Duke Xiao of Qin's reign, the Zhou Dynasty declined.

Feudal territories merged and were left with seven states.

Now that all the feudal lords have succumbed to Great Qin

they are no more than commanders in Qin State.

I think that with the power of Qin State, and the wisdom of Your Grace

it will be but an easy feat to seize all six nations.

If we don't take action now

once the feudal lords rise in power and form an alliance

even the wisest and most powerful king would not be able to unite the states.

My dear subject, you spoke with reason.

I wish to unite all six states.

What strategy do you propose?

I think that Han State is close to Qin State and relatively weaker.

Please conquer Han State first to astonish the other states.

Conquer Han State first?

I shall decide after discussing with the generals.

I thank Your Grace for appreciating my worth.

Your proposal of “Advising Against Driving Away Foreign Talent”

is beneficial in keeping Qin State prosperous and powerful.

I now appoint you as Junior Court Officer.

I hope you will live up to my expectations.

I thank Your Grace for the honor.

I shall do my best to serve Your Grace till my death!

Dismiss the imperial court.

The court is dismissed!

Mentor once said that the training in swordsmanship

must not be neglected even for a day.

Speaking of which, I haven't practiced for two months now.

I feel I have let my mentor down.

It's not as though you were lazy and slacked off.

You were injured and couldn't practice.

If Grandfather knew of it, he wouldn't have blamed you.

Whatever the reason

I shall start practicing even harder starting today.

I will make up for the days that I neglected my training.

If that is your plan, I have a suggestion.

I am all ears.

I know a great warrior.

His name is Gao Jian Li.

Professional fighters nicknamed him "Soaring Sword of Yan."

He is from Yan State.

He once said to me

that his utmost regret in life was to have missed out on a chance

to challenge Warrior Gongsun Yu to a sword fight.

If he could meet Gongsun Yu's descendants

then I am sure he can fulfill his wish.

So you're saying he is Grandfather's supporter?

What does that have to do with helping Senior?

Gao Jian Li is knowledgeable and has great memory.

His swordsmanship is terrific.

I suggest that Young Warrior Jing learn combat from him.

If you can get him to mentor you

you are sure to make great progress.

This is wonderful.

I wonder where Warrior Gao is now?

Lately, he has been a guest of Qi State.

If you wish to see him

I could write him a letter first.

You two can meet halfway.

This is great.

Li, we'll have to prepare quickly.

I can't wait to meet Warrior Gao.

I won't be joining you...

You're not?

Why?

I...

Since I've been looking after you all this time...

I am a bit worn out.

I want to use this opportunity to get some rest.

It's all right.

You really have been too tired lately.

Forget it.

If you're not coming along, I won't meet him either.

I hope to have the chance to meet him another time.

No, Senior! You must meet him.

How can I leave you here alone to challenge Warrior Gao to a fight?

How could I put my mind at ease if you were to run into danger?

But...

But this is such a rare opportunity.

If you give this up because of me

I'll feel bad about it for the rest of my life.

Young Warrior Jing.

It's a long journey from Wei State to Qi State.

Moreover, Miss Gongsun has been exhausted all this time.

If she travels with you, I'm afraid she'll be worn out.

If you have any faith in me

leave Miss Gongsun here with me, to await your return.

Set out soon and make it back quickly.

Put your heart into the fight and learn from him.

What do you think?

Exactly, Mister Tian is right.

Even if I go with you, I'd only get in your way.

If you head over there on your own

you won't have to take care of me along the way.

All right.

I'll set out soon and return quickly.

Be more careful now that you're on your own.

I'm not a child.

When I return, I'll teach you everything I've learned.

Don't complain about being tired then.

Deal.

What is it, Li?

Nothing.

Li, there's still some time before the sword fight.

Why don't practice with me?

- Let's review our stances. - Sure!

What is it?

It's nothing really.

I don't know if you still remember the sword fighting style

we came up with as children?

Of course I do.

I remember that we swore to one day dominate the fighting world with it.

Senior...

Have you ever liked me?

His Grace is after all a man.

He's just acting on a whim.

He fell for a few beauties out there and brought them back to the palace.

What is there to fuss about?

Grand Empress Dowager is right.

- Don't! - Step back!

Miss Gongsun....

What is going on?

Miss Gongsun is wielding a knife and refuses to let us near her!

- Step back! - Miss Gongsun!

So many have coveted the title of Virtuous Lady.

Why would you do this to yourself?

Miss Gongsun!

Miss Gongsun!

If you wish to kill him, kill me first!

Get lost!

Yes.

Do you think I won't kill you?
