[The King's Woman]

[Episode 5]

"Heaven sent me here to speak these words.

The criminal Lao Ai unleashed destruction in our world and turned his sword against me.

He has committed a very grave act. He is being sentenced to death by dismemberment, divided for a total of 100 days.

It is so ordered."

Yes, Your Majesty.

- Li Zhong. - I am here.

Did you complete the task I left you?

Your Majesty, it has been done. We can take action at any time.

- Announce it! - Yes.

Everyone, listen! Starting from today, our Great Qin will pursue a girl of the State of Wey!

Gongsun Li!

- What about this one? - This bracelet is very pretty!

- What is going on? - What happened?

Go and take a look.

Let us go take a look.

[Wanted]

[The King of Qin is ordering the arrest of Gongsun Li. Anyone who will provide information will be heavily rewarded.]

[Wanted]

[Wanted]

Junior Sister?

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Li Zhong. How is the task I left you coming along?

From Xianyang to the State of Wei,

as long as it is in our territory, in the smallest streets to the wild forests,

Gongsun Li's face has been posted everywhere.

It is very easy for Your Majesty to find one girl.

What about the task I specially left to you?

I have already given the special command to Yao Jia. He promised me that he would complete it without fail.

Tell Yao Jia. If a mistake happens in between,

I will make him die a horrible death.

I understand.

Big Sister, do you really have to go?

Sister Lan'er, do not worry. Senior and I are just hiding for a few days.

We will return to find you very soon.

Then it is a promise. You must return safely.

Of course! I still have many things I want to do with you!

Li'er, Jing'er, you two must be careful on the road.

You must take good care of Li'er.

Do you know why the Qin soldiers are pursuing Li'er alone?

I am not sure either. We usually go against the Qin army,

but the State of Qin has never made such a big fuss to pursue us.

There must be a reason why the State of Qin is sending out their soldiers to capture Junior Sister.

It might be because Brother Jing and Sister Li fought against the Qin soldiers in Puyang,

so you have become an eyesore.

But my father said that those who are in the Jianghu realm can easily make enemies.

If there was no one trying to kill you, then it would not be the jianghu realm!

I really admire your optimistic attitude!

While you are on the run, if you run into any trouble,

follow this letter to find a friend of mine.

His name is Tian Guang, a person from the State of Yan. His knowledge is vast and profound.

He also has a close relationship with me. He will definitely help you.

I will never forget this great favor.

You must not say that. I am not capable.

I know that I cannot protect you, so that you have no choice but to run away.

Junior Master Lu, do not say that.

Actually, this is the perfect chance for Senior Brother and I to go out for a trip.

We can strengthen our bones and muscles by beating some more Qin soldiers!

Then, Junior Master, Lan'er, farewell.

- Farewell. - Alright.

Brother Jing, Big Sister Li, take care!

Take care!

[Chancellor's Manor]

I, Li Si, greet Your Majesty.

Where is Lü Buwei?

Your Majesty, the Chancellor has caught a cold recently.

He has been running a high fever. He cannot even rise from his bed.

He usually cares the most about his health.

Yet even he can catch a cold? How odd.

Perhaps the Chancellor worries day and night about the country

and overworked himself.

He is worried about the country?

I think he's more worried about losing his position and power.

I do not know what the Chancellor is thinking. I do not dare to make rash guesses.

What? You are also worried that talking rashly

would make you lose favor in front of the Chancellor?

I have some advice. If the power is with you, you then have the power to command human strength.

If the power is with others, it will only make you worry and not benefit from it.

Oh?

If the power is not mine, what then?

Everything in this world is like flowing water.

If it flows elsewhere, you must scheme to cut it off at the source,

so that you are the only one to wield the power.

Interesting. What is your name?

I am Li Si. I am one of the Chancellor's retainers.

I was once a disciple of the philosopher Xun Kuang of the State of Chu.

Xun Kuang? You are a follower of Meng Ke?

Precisely.

Confucious' writings are inscribed within this Lü estate.

I am not a fan of Confucian teachings.

Confucianism values discipline and accepts fate.

But to use Confucian teachings to rule country,

Your Majesty may adhere to Duke Huan of Qi and Duke Wen of Jin.

These two people strictly follows the ancient teachings and guards the power of the king of Zhou.

But he is only the ruler of one area.

I believe Your Majesty has great ambitions.

You will not be satisfied with controlling one area alone.

Then you tell me, what exactly are my ambitions?

Your Majesty's ambitions...

is...swallowing the six states and ruling the world!

Good!

Well said. Let me ask you now.

If you were in charge of swallowing the six states, how would you do it?

Your Majesty.

The Six States of today is nearing its twilight years, it is no longer something to be feared.

If you wish to rule the world,

you must first have internal peace.

From the ancient times, the rise of the subjects

lead to the downfall of the royalty. If the royalty is strong, then the subjects will comply.

Your Majesty. When what needs to be cut is not,

the consequences are unfathomable.

I was impolite!

Your Majesty, please wait. Chancellor will fix his clothing and will immediately come out.

There is no need. I have gained something already.

I do not need to see Chancellor.

Your Majesty!

This way.

Stop!

What is your name? Where is your home?

My name is Zhao Si. I am from Puyang.

Where are you going?

My brother and I are going to Handan for a distant relative's wedding.

Please let us go easily.

To Handan?

Sir, please let us go easily.

- Go on! - Thank you.

- Let us go. - Wait!

Where are you going?

General.

I just told this young brother that we are going to Handan for a distant relative's wedding.

Please let us go easily.

You! Lift up your head!

Are you a man or a woman?

This is my brother.

Of course, I am a man.

A man?

Why do you look like this wanted fugitive?

You are probably mistaken.

I just need one test to see if you are male or female!

Junior Sister, run!

- General! Are you okay? - After them!

After them! Hurry!

- Your Majesty. - Your Majesty.

Does Your Majesty know what the people are saying about you bringing Queen Dowager back to Xianyang?

Tell me.

The people are saying that you personally went

and traveled long distances to bring Queen Zhao back to Xianyang.

Setting a banquet at Ganquan Palace. All the passers-by formed a crowd by it.

All praised Your Majesty for your filial piety.

I am also congratulating Your Majesty for regaining Queen Dowager.

I have never lost anything, so what is there to regain?

Recently, the Qin state was in turmoil and the royal palace not peaceful. I heard that

when people hear of Qin, they only know about Chancellor Lü and Marquis of Changxin but they don't know about the king.

Your Majesty, you have indeed suffered.

Queen Dowager!

Do you know that in this rebellion, you have committed a grave mistake?

At this time, as the mother of Qin, you should stand on the king's side,

and think on his behalf!

Grand Queen Dowager, I...

Your Majesty. For the peace of the Great Qin, just do

what you must!

Grand Queen Dowager!

Men! Take these two bastards away!

- Your Majesty. Your Majesty, please do not! - Mother!

- Your Majesty, I'm begging you, please do not! - Mother!

Your Majesty, how could you be so cruel? They are your little brothers, after all!

They are my children, Your Majesty!

Chang'er! Chang'er!

Your Majesty! I am begging you!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty, I am begging you!

If they were born into a normal family, and I was not the king of Great Qin, I could spare them.

But remember clearly. They call you mother,

but they are not my little brothers!

They are bastards you bore with Lao Ai!

Men! Take Queen Dowager away!

I can deeply relate with Your Majesty's pain.

What does that mean?

I am from the Zhao State. When Your Majesty was still held hostage by the Zhao's,

I already knew about you.

At that time, Your Majesty suffered such torture

and scorn.

Although Mao Jiao was reasonable in asking Your Majesty to be forgiving and benevolent,

he really does not understand the sadness in your heart.

Everyone wants you to think on behalf of Queen Zhao,

but I am worried. Who will think on Your Majesty's behalf?

People say that if not for Marquis of Wenxin,

Your Majesty and the former king would not have been able to return to Qin.

Although Chancellor is the leader of the ministers, he has repeatedly played with his official power.

He desires to offend his superior and cause disturbance but didn't directly rise into arms.

He used Lao Ai first, and then the Lord of Chang'an.

He even cast doubts on Your Majesty's lineage to lead the people astray!

His actions are unacceptable!

Now that Your Majesty welcomed Queen Dowager back, but I don't know

how Your Majesty will be able to treat her with respect.

This palace is the king's. The Great Qin is also the king's!

Whether it is rewarding or punishing, I am willing to hear Your Majesty's orders.

If Your Majesty wants to rule all six states,

there must first be internal peace. Your Majesty, when what needs to be cut is not,

the consequences are unfathomable.

Junior Sister, it seems like the Qin soldiers have not caught up.

We have finally shaken them off!

Junior Sister, it seems like there is a small house ahead. Let us go inside and rest.

Okay. Let us go.

- Are you cold? - I am okay.

- Search! - Yes!

Hurry!

This way! Hurry!

Go look over there!

- Look carefully! - Yes!

Search! That way!

- That way! - Okay!

What a waste of those nice clothes.

Thankfully, you were smart, or else the fire would have attracted the soldiers' attention.

Let us not sleep tonight.

Those Qin soldiers are quite persistent. We just cannot get rid of them.

But if we charge out, we will only get outnumbered. What we can only do now is wait.

Put this on.

There is no need, Senior Brother. I am not cold.

Do not catch a cold.

I wonder if the Qin soldiers' pursuit has to do with the sword technique guide.

Not necessarily. Xiahou Yang, who wants it, is from the State of Zhao.

He probably does not have ties with the Qin army.

Anyway, the Qin army has always been brutal, tyrannical, and unreasonable.

How could we understand what they want to do?

I am too useless. I am still unable to understand the profound meaning of the sword technique guide that Master left me.

If I mastered my martial arts, you would not have to be chased around.

Senior Brother, do not blame yourself. The sword technique guide is Grandfather's will.

How could it be your responsibility alone?

Actually, I also don't understand the meaning of the sword technique guide.

To be honest, whether it be the State of Qin or Xiahou Yang,

I do not care about either one.

I just want to look for an earthly paradise with Senior

and stay far away from the fights of the jianghu realm

and be a pair of regular people.

Junior Sister, before I get revenge for our country and family,

I will not ask for such happiness.

I am afraid that Master will be disappointed with me.

If I'll be fortunate in this life time, how I wish to live a simple and regular life

of farming and sewing with you.

Shut your mouth! Stop singing!

What?

This song "Wei Feng" talks about indecent grudges by a married woman upon meeting another man.

Did it hurt Uncle's heart?

I just think that the music of Zheng Wei

has always been considered as obscene music by the royal family.

It shouldn't be played in a very formal and refined event.

Playing it in a royal gathering like this is a bit inappropriate.

Leave.

Yes.

The journey today is quite tiring.

I feel a bit unwell.

I want to go back to my chambers now to rest.

Sure.

Do you need me to look for a handsome male companion to accompany you in your sleep?

So...

you asked me to come back to the Palace, not really due to filial reasons.

You just wanted to humiliate me.

If Your Majesty still have bear grudges about Lao Ai's rebellion,

then vent it on me.

I am the one who brought Lao Ai into the Palace.

The army mobilization token was entrusted by me to Queen Dowager.

All of these started with me, your Uncle.

Uncle...

Sure.

since you want to bear the crime all to yourself,

I'll then clearly discuss things with you.

Since I ascended to the throne when I was 15, you already asked me to call you Uncle.

Before my crowning ceremony at age 20,

you ordered your retainers to write the Spring and Autumn Annals, chronicle of Lü State, and then publicized it.

Everyone knows "Spring and Autumn Annals"

is a book that all royal families from every state uses to educate their crown prince.

All your doings is telling everyone in this world that I am your son.

But I am not.

I am the former king's eldest legitimate son.

I am legitimately from the Ying blood line.

You used your identity as my uncle to threaten me

and fabricated lies to create trouble. It was you who forced Lord of Chang'an to leave.

Because of personal interests, you wanted to usurp the throne! So what punishment must you receive?!

Your Majesty, public clamor can melt metals.

You must wisely distinguish right from wrong.

Chancellor has never had any intentions to usurp the throne.

He...

In his heart...

There is only Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, Chancellor helped the former king govern.

He has did great merits for the state.

The floating rumors are baseless.

Hope Your Majesty will be merciful. It is inappropriate to deal with this as you have dealt with Lao Ai.

Okay.

I'll spare Lü Buwei from death but I am removing his Chancellor position

and confer him the title of Prime Minister, instead.

Starting today,

I will hold the military power by myself.

Immediately make this decree!

Zheng'er...

The Queen Dowager harbored the rebels.

She will be living at the Southern Palace starting now. Without my permission,

no one is allowed to enter or exit.

Thank you, Your Majesty, for your mercy.

Tao Zhu Gong, also known as Fan Li, retired after achieving merits,

chose to live in seclusion among the mountains and rivers.

I toiled for half of my life for Qin.

It is indeed time to retire already.

From now on, not getting involved in status and power,

be released from worldly affairs.

It's time to experience the dull and simple human life.

The great merchant Lü Buwei, who have moved unhindered

for a generation...

Can you really willingly accept this fate?

Living in destitute. Not getting what one wants.

This is common to everyone.

The Lü Buwei now is like a rotten peach that sank deep into the Pushui.

He won't be able to turn things over anymore.

Be careful.

Wait.

What is it, Senior?

It is too quiet. It's a bit abnormal.

Hey, you are quite vigilant.

You indeed are a favored disciple of Gongsun Yu.

Don't you two mention my grandfather's name!

What do you two want?

Nothing.

We just want to ask Miss Gongsun Li to be a guest at our Royal Palace in Xianyang

and meet our King.

Who wants to see your king?!

Little girl, that's not up to you.

Junior, remember,

don't hurt Miss Gongsun.

As for this Young Warrior Jing, you can do anything you want.

That is exactly what I want.

Junior sister!

Senior...

Senior.

Junior sister.

Senior!

Don't move any step forward.

If you dare move any step forward,

you can bring my corpse to see King of Qin.

Miss Gongsun, put down the sword.

Then let us leave now.

You are not allowed to follow us.

And you must not let the other Qin soldiers follow us!

In your dreams!

Okay. Then think about it slowly.

My life is in my hands,

while your lives are in the King of Qin's hands.

You...

Go now.

Senior.

Senior.

Hurry.

Senior, are we just going to let them leave like that?

In a few days, without needing to trouble us,

Gongsun Li will naturally come to Xianyang.

Your Majesty, General Meng Wu is requesting an audience.

Send him in.

Let Meng Wu come in.

- Greetings, Your Majesty. - No need for formalities.

What is the progress of the task I gave you?

Your Majesty, the matter has been done.

Jing Ke has already been wounded by Wind Forest Fire Mountain.

He was poisoned with the lethal poison by Yao Jia.

If within seven days, he does not get the antidote, he will die.

Good. You did good.

Senior... Senior, endure it for a little while.

Senior...how are you?

Senior, are you alright?

Senior, open your eyes to look at me! Senior!

I'm fine.

Don't get anxious.

- Are you hurt? - No, I'm fine.

Senior...

I am really alright.

I can even still carry you.

Don't talk anymore, Senior.

I'll help you stop the bleeding first.

Is this painful?

Does it hurt?

Senior Brother!

Senior Brother!

Senior Brother!

Senior Brother! Senior Brother, do not scare me!

Do not scare me! What should I do?

Senior Brother! What should I do?

You must not die, Senior Brother!

Senior Brother, hang in there a little longer. We will be there very soon!

Who are you?

[Tian Guang of Yan State] I was originally going to meet a friend this morning,

but my friend has gone out. I then coincidentally saw you travelling with difficulty.

I had to ask about it.

What do you want?

This young warrior's injuries are severe.

As I see it, if they are not treated immediately,

I am afraid his life will be in danger.

What do you want?

Miss, it looks like you are being pursued by enemies.

That's why you are treating everyone as enemies and are putting your guard up.

So what? What does that have to do with you?

You and I are both people from the jianghu realm. It is just natural for us to guard against others.

But since I came out to stop you, it's all because I saw that you are in trouble.

I just came to help.

Words are meaningless. Why should I believe you?

The injured person is my senior brother. If you dare to touch a hair on his head, I will kill you!

I am from the State of Yan, Tian Guang.

Since I dare to reveal my identity, you can be at ease.

You are Mister Tian Guang?

Precisely. You have heard of my name before?

I was rude, please punish me.

My name is Gongsun Li. Junior Master Lu Goujian once said that if Senior and I ever ran into trouble,

we could ask you for help.

You know Great Warrior Lu?

Sir.

This is the letter that Junior Master Lu gave my senior and me.

He said that if we ran into trouble, we could go near Anyi

to ask you for help.

So you are Gongsun Yu's descendants?

Gongsun Yu is my grandfather, and my senior brother's master.

Then Great Warrior Gongsun is now...?

My grandfather sacrificed his life at the battle at Puyang.

Indeed, it was the State of Qin.

Miss!

Follow me!

Segments and Subtitles brought to you by the King's Beloved Volunteer Team @ Viki

Sir, how are my Senior Brother's wounds?

Miss Gongsun, his injuries are very serious,

but his lungs were not injured. He will be alright for now.

But the weapon that hurt him has poison.

This poison has entered his vital channels.

Without an antidote...I'm afraid,

that Young Warrior Jing will not live beyond seven days.

What?

Miss Gongsun, do not give up.

Tell me who injured him.

Xianyang's four great evils, Wind Forest Fire Mountain.

Wind Forest Fire Mountain?

This is indeed consistent with my guess.

Wind Forest Fire Mountain works under the Qin sorcerer Yao Jia.

Yao Jia?

He is the King of Qin's close confidante.

All dirty and secret things are done out of his hand.

If the Wind Forest Fire Mountain were sent out to catch you, it shows how determined this King of Qin is to catch you.

He is treating you as the thing he wants most.

But...I am just an ordinary girl.

Why must the King of Qin capture me?

Miss Gongsun, you are a smart girl. You should understand

how the men of this world see you.

You should also understand that a very beautiful girl like you

would not escape the King of Qin's notice.

There are many people who treat you as a treasure.

and offer you as a present to the most powerful person now, King of Qin.

So it was me.

I brought this onto Senior Brother.

Sir.

I have one way. Please let me borrow a fast horse.

What do you intend to do?

I hope you can take good care of my Senior Brother. I will never forget

this great favor.

Miss Gongsun.

[Preview] You have arrived?

This is my palace. Why are you not bowing?

I, Gongsun Li, greet Your Majesty.

You have lost some weight.

Your Majesty has seen me before?

You must keep this a secret for me.

You must not let my Senior know that I went to Xianyang.

Now you should understand that I will not take your life.

The one I want is you.

Did you get the antidote,

or did Mister Tian find a medicinal formula?

That time, I was half dreaming, half awake, in a trance, not knowing what's happening around me.

But I remember Mister Tian said that my injury

was caused by poison made by a Qin sorcerer.

Who could treat such a serious poison?

Alright.

Then give me the antidote.

How long?

Three months.

Move aside!

- This way. - Move aside!

What is wrong, Senior Brother?

There are soldiers. They might have seen your wanted poster. Let us go find a place to hide.

There is no need, Senior Brother.

Have you not seen that my wanted posters are gone?
