[Outside of Qingzhou City] [Third Year of Chuping]

During the Yellow Turban Rebellion in the late Han Dynasty,

the royals are all divided.

They fight among each other.

Liu Bei fought hard starting from Taoyuan to revive the country

for eight years

but to no avail.

After that, he went to Youzhou.

Gong Sun Zan asked him.

What is it do you desire?

Liu Bei replied,

I just want to get rid of evil and bring peace to the people.

At the third year of Chuping,

Gong Sun Zan and Yuan Shao was in war.

Liu Bei was ordered to lead the army to take out Qingzhou.

To achieve victory,

he sent his most elite cavalries under him

to Qingzhou

to support Liu Bei.

Liu Bei knew that

these formidable elite cavalries

are the well-known

White Horse Knight.

Since then,

this seemingly calm deadlock

sees the light of breakthrough

because of this one pawn.

Zi Long!

White Horse Knight?

Die!

Who are you?

Zhao Zi Long

from Changshan.

[God of War]

[After the battle in Qingzhou,]

[Zhao Zi Long used the death of his brother as an excuse]

[to retire as the White Horse Knight and live in seclusion.]

[Seventh year of Longfu]

Cloths for sale!

Fans for sale.

A piece of cake.

The house is not big.

But there are many traps.

Zhao Yun,

Why don't you show yourself?

Zhao Yun!

You shameless man!

Put me down now!

Hurry up and me down!

Let me down!

If you are here to buy wood products,

I can give you the best price

if you are sincere.

But if you are here to throw yourself at me,

my advice for you is,

forget about it.

As if!

Open your eyes and look carefully

who I am.

Put me down first!

Put me down!

Xiao Fan?

It has been seven years.

Is this how you treat your guest?

And,

look at you.

All these years,

you are making a living by selling this garbage?

If you are in trouble,

just tell me.

We can gather some money

for you to live a decent life.

What are you doing?

How many are left

in

the White Horse Knight now?

Six people.

Six people.

There were thousands of us.

Now,

only six are left.

If I'm here any later,

there might be even less people left.

During the battle in Qingzhou

seven years ago,

you left without saying goodbye.

I don't blame you for it.

But now,

the world is in chaos.

The six of us want to make a standing in this turbulent world.

If you still feel guilty

towards us,

leave this place with me.

Before my brother passed away,

he entrusted Liang'er to me.

He asked me to bring him up

and keep him away from chaos.

How can I disobey his last wish?

You're just running away.

It has been seven years

and you're still running.

Uncle!

Liang'er.

Can you knock on the door

before you enter next time?

No, uncle.

That evil officer

brought a lot of people here.

Evil officer?

Take a look.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Let's go.

Hurry up.

Hurry up.

Hurry up.

Hurry up.

Liang'er.

Liang'er, slow down.

Let's go.

Hurry up.

Hurry up.

Hello, Sir Zhang.

Sir Zhang.

Long time no see.

You just came to collect the grain taxes a few days ago.

What has troubled you

to come here again?

Thank you for your hard work.

Thank you for your hard work

I'm talking about you!

Hurry up!

[Wanted]

This person has been building her own party

to assassinate the general.

Prime minister has given his order!

Those who can catch this criminal alive

will be rewarded with ten thousand gold!

I heard that

this woman has come to Changshan through the waterway.

Have you seen her?

No, I haven't.

Little brother.

What about you?

Have you sent the person in this painting?

That woman has committed grave crime.

Do you want to see all of us killed?

This is just a misunderstanding.

Just a misunderstanding.

Sir.

He is still young.

He doesn't know anything.

But don't worry.

If we have a clue,

we'll report it at once.

This is just a misunderstanding.

Just a misunderstanding.

He doesn't know anything.

You still want to lie?

Zi Long!

Hand her out.

Everyone saw her going to house.

If you fight them,

you'll drag us all down with you.

It's okay.

It's okay.

Like what Brother Zhao said,

this is just a misunderstanding.

If that's the case,

please stay in Changshan

and help me look for that criminal.

Goodbye.

Uncle.

They know that I can fight now.

That evil officer will not let it go at that.

Let's go.

Let's go back and pack.

I've already investigated.

Both of them were the subordinates of Gong Sun Zan.

They are called the White Horse Knight.

During the battle in Qingzhou seven years ago,

most of them died.

The survivors became bandits.

Our general

is assassinated by them.

And one of them is the vanguard of White Horse Knight.

The invincible Zhao Zi Long.

Zhang Nan.

Why do people believe in Buddha?

I don't know.

The country is falling apart

and the people are suffering.

Buddha said, only by letting go of our obsessions

can we go to heaven

and find real wisdom.

Die and go back to where you came from.

Little monk.

Let me ask you.

How do you know chaos

is the cause for all these sufferings

and not because of the people?

[Xia Hou En, known as Yuan Miao]

Maybe this suffering

is a blessing for everyone.

Ready my horse.

Liang'er.

Liang'er!

Uncle.

Changshan is such a good place.

Why are we running away?

Don't be afraid.

You'll be fine.

Liang'er.

I'm here.

You'll be fine.

Don't be afraid.

Liang'er.

I...

I think I can't walk anymore.

Liang'er.

Liang'er!

Liang'er!

I heard that Gong Sun Zan has a strong warrior

with remarkable skills in spear, the best of the best.

I am Xia Hou En.

I'm here to learn from you.

You are indeed a great opponent which is rare.

This is the gaze that you should have.

But, you can't beat me if you are

just fuelled by anger.

The you now don't deserve to be killed by my Green Sword.

General!

Don't come here!

Let's destroy Changshan tonight.

[Jiang Han]

Xiao Fan is really foolish.

I already said that you'll be disappointed in him.

Jiang Han!

Work with the right wing to hold the enemy back!

Gao Miao, follow me to give Xuan De a hand!

Roger that!

Zi Long, be careful!

My apprentice found you.

If you had stayed a while longer in the water,

your wound would have festered.

Liang'er.

Xiao Fan.

I have to get down.

You're seriously injured.

Where do you want to go?

I want to go to Changshan.

Changshan?

Changshan was already destroyed by fire two days ago.

Even Zhending has suffered from it.

What did you say?

You need to hold on for a little longer.

We are just 100 miles away from Ye City.

The world is so big.

There'll be a place for you.

[Fourth Year of Jian'an] [Ye City]

Brother Zhao, have a look.

This is Ye City.

Brother Zhao, you...

That's right!

The general is so powerful that

he cut Meng Tan into half.

Even if he's dead,

his body will still be separated in hell.

However, that Han Fu cowered from the fight

and shot the general in the back.

He shot the general's left arm.

Look at this.

He shot him right here.

But it doesn't matter.

Sir.

Is he General Yun Chang?

He's the marquis of Hanshou.

He gave up his title and wealth

and travels alone.

Finally, he got back together with Liu and Zhang.

So,

Lord Xuan De, the Marquis of Yi City,

is also in Ye City now?

Yes.

Lord Xuan De treats his people like his own children.

He's someone we can rely on.

If you want to achieve something great,

here's your chance.

All right.

I'll prepare some medicines

for you to drink it.

Wait here.

When the general heard that

they are going to retreat,

before the three drumbeats...

One!

Yes. One.

Within the first drumbeat,

he killed Cai Yang.

When Lord Yi De saw that,

he realised that he misunderstood the general.

Therefore...

Who's talking about me?

[Guan Yu, also known as Yun Chang]

No need to be so courteous.

No need to be so courteous.

Wu Xiao Liu.

Is your leg feeling better now?

The envoy remembers our name.

Yes, brother.

Even if

my other leg was injured,

I wouldn't feel the pain.

This is nothing.

My brother remembers everyone's name.

[Zhang Fei, also known as Yi De]

Lord Xuan De.

You are right on time.

Let me recommend someone to you.

Brother Zhao?

Brother Zhao!

Brother Zhao!

Zi Long.

It has been seven years.

Why are you avoiding me?

Zi Long.

We've finally taken down Qingzhou.

But Gong Sun Zan's reinforcements didn't come to help us out

because they were busy ambushing Yuan Shao for food.

He doesn't care about our lives at all.

Thousands of members of White Horse Knight

are dead because of this meaningless war.

Let me ask you.

In this chaotic world,

which one is the right path?

And where will

this path led to?

I...

I don't know either.

Zi Long!

Zi Long.

I couldn't make you stay seven years ago.

Today,

just let me speak three sentences to you.

Because of your invaluable advice when we parted in Qingzhou,

I made up my mind to revive the Han Dynasty.

Although I haven't achieved anything major,

every little, small progress

is a blessing.

Don't you think that

you should

stay and build the country together with me?

Zhao Yun who served the country and its people

has already died in war seven years ago.

You once left me behind.

Are you going to do it again today?

You have one sentence left.

Fine.

I don't know when I'll see you again.

We used to be friends.

Can't you

stay to have a meal with me?

The people outside are living in misery.

But people in Ye City are well-clad and well-fed.

This is our last meal.

After this meal,

the granary of Ye City will be empty.

And

I'll seek refuge from Yuan Shao.

Yuan Shao is cruel but timid.

He is cunning.

How can you seek refuge from him?

If I can save the whole city by getting myself humiliated,

I can be humiliated

as many times as it takes.

Besides, I feel like

I've won the world when

I have my people with me.

In this world,

you can't save the people

with virtue and morality.

When you have no more food for them,

do you think they'll still follow you?

By the way,

if you're not in a hurry to leave

I'll return

something to you later.

Zi Long, come in.

Looks like we haven't achieved anything major.

But our part-time jobs are doing great.

Zi Long, look.

If this silver dagger

can meet a great craftsman,

it'll be able to see the light again.

Now, Cao Cao has corrupted the court by controlling the emperor.

It's time to clean up those around the emperor.

Zi Long, if you have lost something in the battlefield,

you can only get it back from battlefield.

Say no more.

I don't see eye to eye with Cao Cao.

Since he's your enemy,

I'll support you.

But,

when we've taken our revenge,

you can't stop me

from leaving.

I don't know what else you'll do

to make me stay.

I have no other ways already.

However,

if you can stay until then,

I can

make a new pair of shoes for you.

Is Zhao Zi Long in there?

Come out.

I think that's my second brother, Yun Chang.

Yun Chang.

Why are you visiting me so late at night with a spear?

I always heard that

Zi Long has the most remarkable skill in spear.

Tonight is such a good night.

Why don't we have a duel and become friends?

You!

You...

Is this how you make friends?

No discord, no concord.

Since you value Zi Long so much,

why don't we

have a fight?

What nonsense is this?

Listen to me.

It's okay.

You are right, Third General.

Okay.

I'll fight with you.

What fine skill you have.

I can't hold back anymore.

I'll join the fight too!

[Eighth Year of Jian'an] [Xu City]

Minister Cao has been anxious lately.

Yuan Miao.

Don't wait any longer.

Go back.

I won't get up until

he agrees to meet me.

How dare you!

[Xia Hou Dun, also known as Yuan Rang]

Is this a place for you

to mess around?

Come with me.

I just need five thousand cavalries.

And I will take down

Jingzhou within a month!

Please agree to my request!

You scoundrel!

Scoundrel!

Come with me.

Leave!

Please agree to my request!

Come with me.

Please agree to my request!

Come with me!

You are injured

but you still have such strong will to kill the criminals.

You are a rare gem.

Mr. Lou.

Zhao Yun was defeated by me once.

Just give me five thousand cavalries.

The prime minister said that

if we fight Liu Bei on the battlefield,

we'll definitely suffer grave defeat.

It's not wise to do that.

Do you already have a plan in mind, Mr. Lou?

If you want to stop water from boiling,

just take away the fire.

As soon as Liu Bei dies,

no matter how many powerful warriors he has,

[Lou Gui, also known as Zi Bo]

there's no need for us to be afraid.

Look at how skinny

you've become.

Excuse my appearance, Jiang Han.

Bring Liu Bei's head to Xu City

and I'll let her go.

What do you think about the deal?

Girl.

Don't be so foolish again after you get out.

Jiang Han.

Jiang Han.

Jiang Han.

Jiang Han.

Girl.

Girl.

Tell Zhao Zi Long that...

[Eighth Year of Jian'an] [Jingzhou City]

Fire!

Put it out!

Put it out!

Put it out!

My Lord!

Two teams of people will come with me to put out the fire.

As for the others, protect my brother.

Do not leave his side!

Roger that!

Third brother.

Third brother!

[Gao Miao]

General!

Why?

Why have you become a traitor for money?

Zi Long.

You know him?

Maybe you've forgotten about him.

He is Gao Miao.

We used to be on the same team.

In fact, we've gone through thick and thin together.

Really?

During the battle in Qingzhou,

he risked his life to save me.

That's how he injured his throat

and lost his ability to speak.

Please punish him lightly on behalf of

our past friendship.

Nonsense!

He has committed a grave crime.

We can't let the tiger return to the mountain!

Zi Long.

Take him away then.

Brother!

Up to you whether you want to

kill him or set him free.

Since he used to be on your team,

I'll leave it to you to set things right.

Gao Miao.

Bring me to them.

General Zhao has been working for Liu Xuan De in the past few years.

An ever-victorious general.

Now, you even saved his life.

Everything

is really going well for you.

But do you know

what will it cost?

It's just a life.

Xiao Fan.

Xiao Fan.

Xiao Fan.

Xiao Fan.

She had thought about you all her life.

If she were still alive,

she would've been glad to see you like this.

Every path is difficult.

To err is human.

General Zhao, be careful.

Xiao Fan.

[Twelfth Year of Jian'an]

[Liu Bei was blessed with a son and he was named Liu Shan.]

[On the same year, Guo Jia fell ill.]

[Cao Cao found the Heaven's Vine to save him but was too late.]

[Guo Jia passed away in the end.]

He's still breathing.

But I don't think he can hold on much longer.

You can start now.

Bus this Heaven's Vine is very poisonous.

After your nephew take it, he'll feel no pain like a living corpse.

I'm afraid that...

Uncle.

The men of Xia Hou family

are meant to die on the battlefield

while we defeat our enemies.

We are not meant to die from an illness.

Yuan Miao.

Next month,

Minister Cao will send 500,000 men to take down Jingzhou.

If you want to contribute to the country,

now's the chance.

[Thirteenth Year of Jian'an]

[Cao Cao led a huge troop to attack Jingzhou in the south.]

[Liu Bei lost the city and fled to Dan Yang with his people and his family.]

Here, put it on.

It's getting colder now.

Okay.

I didn't take over Jingzhou because

Jing Sheng and I have the same ancestor.

But now, it's taken over by Cao Cao.

Then, we lost Xinye and Fan City in a row.

Now, we are fleeing in panic.

Zi Long.

Do you think that I have no brain nor brawn

and should just stick to making straw sandals?

Don't think so much.

Finish this porridge.

We have to leave at first light tomorrow.

Stop distracting me.

From your reaction,

I can see that

you are extremely disappointed

in me, right?

Of course not.

It's going to be winter soon.

It's really a good time to escape.

Cao's army is here!

They are not Cao's army.

Lord Xuan De.

We are the people of Fan City.

We'll follow you to death.

Guards! Chase these people away!

Leave.

-Go away. -What are you doing?

Leave!

Stop it!

Stop!

Stand down!

My Lord.

Even if we bring them with us,

if we run into Cao's army,

they will die with us.

Moreover, look at the soldiers behind you.

They have gone through thick and thin with you.

We can't let them die for nothing.

Yes, My Lord.

Everyone has their own destiny.

Even if not for us,

you have to think about your wife and son.

Your son is the hope of Han Dynasty.

My Lord, you can't

risk everyone's lives for them.

Please reconsider.

Please reconsider.

Please reconsider.

Please get up.

I am

weak, useless and powerless.

I don't come from a distinguished family.

Today, I'm running away with my family

like a homeless cur.

But, even at this time of crisis,

tens of thousands of people are willing to entrust their lives to me.

They believe in me.

I can see that

even if I have nothing,

at least,

I still have the support of the people!

My Lord!

If everyone only cares about themselves,

how can we build a great country?

Since

I gave them hope to live,

I won't

let them down.

Come with me, folks!

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

The child is crying.

What should we do?

Zi Long, stop!

Zi Long, wait!

I almost forgot.

Our counsellor gave me an important task before we left.

Take this.

He said that

you've been serving Lord Liu for so many years.

It's time for you to have a weapon of your own.

This is strange.

How did Mr. Kong Ming re-weld this silver spear

into something stronger and sharper?

He also said that

the journey to Jiangxia is difficult.

This spear is not meant to kill but to protect.

To protect?

I'm not as good as you or the Third General.

I'm afraid that I don't deserve this.

You are so noisy.

If you refuse this spear,

I'll try this new spear on you.

It's just a misunderstanding.

I'll accept it. Calm down.

I know you'll accept it.

The Tiger Knight!

Prepare for battle!

Madam.

Madam!

Madam!

Zi Long, retreat with His Lord.

I'll bring up the rear!

My Lord, come with me!

-Madam! -We have to go now!

Brother!

The Tiger Knight is just nearby. You can't go!

I have to save them!

Brother!

Your son and wife will be fine.

Brother, you can't risk your life.

Go away!

Brother!

Get out of the way!

My Lord!

You ignored our advice to

take those people in before this. Fine.

But now, you can't act wilfully again.

Otherwise,

Han Dynasty will be destroyed in your hands.

My Lord!

Please reconsider.

My Lord, the most important thing now

is for you to hurry to Jiangxia and join forces with Mr. Kong Ming.

Leave your wife and son to me.

Zi Long.

How can I let you risk your life for me?

I remember that when I first reached Ye City,

you said that you'll make a pair of shoes for me.

I haven't gotten my shoes yet.

I will do my best to complete my mission

and come back alive.

Be careful.

Ah Dou!

Ah Dou.

Ah Dou!

Ah Dou!

Ah Dou!

Ah Dou!

I never thought that there'll be survivor in Changban.

What are you going to do?

Back off!

I've met you before at the general's mansion in Xu City.

Madam Gan.

Don't worry.

They don't want you. But I do.

Come with me.

Come on.

Where can you run?

Head east to meet His Lord there.

But Ah Dou...

I couldn't find Ah Dou.

Don't worry.

I will find him

and bring him back safely.

Shoot him to death!

Come on.

Only one man and one horse

and he's able to turn Changban upside down.

No wonder Minister Cao can't bear to kill him.

He is loyal and courageous.

Even if we catch him alive,

he won't cooperate with us.

I'm afraid that the prime minister will be disappointed again.

I don't even think that I can take 50 rounds of his attack.

This man is a formidable opponent.

We have a debt to collect from Zhao Zi Long.

Leave him to us.

How dare you come back, you bandits.

If the prime minister wants someone to blame,

you can blame it on us bandits.

Tell me.

What do you want?

Finally, someone is willing to make an offer on my head.

Not only that,

they said that

we can exchange your head

for a lifetime of wealth

for the five of us.

I've failed the people in White Horse Knight

and I've failed Xiao Fan.

If this was an ordinary day,

I would give you my life.

But today,

I have promised Lord Liu to protect his son.

I can't

give you my life yet.

So troublesome.

You are doing this for Liu Bei who weaves grass.

You've really wasted your life

for seven years in Changshan.

Young Master.

Let's go home.

You can't win against the four of us.

Leave the child and run away.

Young Master!

If you admit defeat now,

on behalf of our past relationship,

I won't tear your dead body to pieces.

All of you weren't much of a talker

during a fight before this.

He's not a smart as Cao Cao

and he's not as powerful as Sun Quan.

Liu Bei is just a useless man.

Why?

Why?

Answer me!

I once thought that

as long as you can ignore

the tumult of this world,

you'll be free from it.

So, I had been running away.

I ran away from Qingzhou.

I ran away from Changshan.

Now, there's no one beside me.

Why are you still guarding this child with your life then?

I'm just a sword.

A killing machine.

I don't have the ability to protect anyone.

But he'll be able

to protect the world.

If you follow him,

you'll die.

I don't care if

I'll live or die.

I'll continue to walk down this path.

Because I've been

been looking for this path for 15 years.

This time,

I won't run away again.

I'll keep going.

I'll keep going

until the end!

I have heard the answer I want from you.

I won't fight anymore.

This sounds like

a long way to go.

General.

Would you mind bringing us

with you?

Here, chop them down.

Zhong Ji.

I never thought that you'll like kids so much.

I'll find you a woman later

and you can have your own kid.

Look at his little face.

So chubby.

So cute.

He?

He peed when we fought just now.

Do you think I didn't see that?

Who said that I peed?

Zhong Ji, I don't want to lecture you.

But you only feeding him bun.

He'll be thirsty.

That's right.

Come.

Let me give you some wine.

Go away.

What are you doing?

You are a bad influence.

Just let him drink it. What are you afraid of?

Go away.

Why are you running away? He can drink.

I'll kill you.

Come back here!

Don't.

-Stop running! -Only a fool will stand there!

They are still so childish.

Isn't it good that they haven't changed at all?

What about you?

Don't you hate me

for Xiao Fan's death?

If it wasn't for her,

you would've been dead.

What did she say to you?

Tell me.

Stop guessing around.

Take a rest and we'll get going.

Gao Miao is waiting for us.

After this mountain, we'll reach Dangyang Bridge.

After Dangyang Bridge,

you'll be safe.

I don't think Xia Hou Dun will guess that

we'll take the long route to descend from the mountain.

What happens after that?

What is your plan?

We lied to Xia Hou Dun.

I don't think we can do business with him again.

I'm not young anymore.

Time to find a wife,

go home and become a farmer.

One wife is not enough.

Three wives and four concubines are the norm.

Am I right?

Yes!

You have no ambition at all.

I plan to go back to Yingchuan

and become a disciple of Mr. Shui Jing.

I aim to become

a leader with great statesmanship

in the future.

Zhong Ji.

I don't want to lecture you.

Don't think so highly of yourself because

you can write some doggerels.

Am I right?

It's called poem.

You don't understand!

Don't think that we don't know

about the doggerels you wrote.

Don't run.

Let's fight it out.

Gao Miao!

Who is it?

Who is it?

I'll save you!

Gao Miao!

Gao Miao.

Gao Miao.

Rest in peace.

General.

Looks like

we won't be able to escape today.

Then, we'll kill them.

If we kill one, we don't lose anything!

If we kill two,

it'll be a profit!

Brothers.

We'll kill them all!

How long has it been?

I think it has been eight years.

Although this is the last day that we'll ever meet again,

I don't want to reminisce with you.

I heard that General Zhao has the best skills in spear.

You are even better than before.

I'm here

to learn from you again.

Impossible.

Are you a man or a ghost?

When you feel nothing, not even pain, you'll fear nothing.

Even if I go to hell,

I'm going to

brand this world with my name, Xia Hou En.

Zi Long!

Uncle.

What kind of place is Qingzhou?

That place

is deserted.

There is no sign of life there.

But when I think about it,

it seems to be the place I miss the most.

Uncle,

can you bring me there?

This is my battlefield.

No matter how you look down on heaven,

I won't let you defeat me, Zhao Zi Long!

Our spirit will always stand together.

We live and die together!

We live and die together!

Attack!

Attack!

Zi Long, hurry up!

Back at Xu City,

Xiao Fan asked me to tell you that

keep winning.

Keep winning.

That's it.

Only then

can he see the future he wants.
