Young Blood

Episode 31

Dean!

Coming!

Dean! Dean! Dean!

Dean!

De…

It’s you two?

Come on in.

Dean.

We should’ve gone to the section chief for this.

But I heard

that you sent Zhao Jian out of the city for business,

right?

Correct.

Then we have nobody else

to go to except you.

What’s going on?

Section 5 sent a letter

to the hostel last night,

saying they’ll kill Wang Kuan!

Dean,

you know Wang Kuan very well.

There’s no way that he’d kill Liu Sheng!

That’s nonsense.

Where’s the letter?

It’s missing.

And so is

Jing!

What happened exactly?

We suspect that Section 5 took Jing.

Or it wouldn’t be this coincidental.

We’ve gone to Section 5.

Have you found Jing?

No.

But Di Jiang disappeared.

We think he’s the one who took Jing.

But the section didn’t allow us to search their rooms.

You know what?

Xue Ying was about to start a fight right there,

but I stopped him

for the sake of the bigger picture.

Right?

Go to the Dean when there’s a problem.

So please help us

to negotiate with Section 5.

Section 5

wouldn’t take Jing.

But

we should at least be allowed to search their rooms.

Right?

Would you

issue us a search warrant?

Under this situation,

a search warrant won’t work either.

Now,

let me go to Section 5 with you.

That’d be better!

Dean,

when will Zhao Jian be back to Kaifeng?

It’s more important to find Jing.

It doesn’t matter when Zhao Jian will be back.

Focus on the issue at hand!

Dean,

let’s hurry.

We are worried about Jing!

Alright!

Let’s go!

Okay!

Hurry!

Di Jiang?

What are you doing here?

You are here for Wang Kuan?

I can take you to Wang Kuan,

if you unlock me.

You think Di Jiang would unlock you?

Yuan Zhongxin?!

How could I get into Secret Repository

without playing as Di Jiang?

How did you find me?

We said we’d contact each other by codes.

Yuan Zhongxin?

Quiet! Somebody is after me.

Get in!

I heard this morning

that Dean Lu sent Zhao Jian out of the city for business.

So what are you worried about?

I’ve talked to her.

Should there be any changes,

we’d contact each other by codes.

But I didn’t hear from her.

So you are worried that she didn’t go out of the city?

Lure the Dean Lu away for me.

You want to search Dean Lu’s room?

I didn’t want to get you two involved.

But

I have no other choice.

Hey,

it’s us!

We can of course lure Dean Lu away.

But what about you?

How can you go back to Secret Repository when you are wanted?

I bought some clothes

and made a mask.

You will pretend to be Di Jiang?

Take it easy.

You are really bold.

Di Jiang is looking for you everywhere.

What if you run into him?

Di Jiang is not here at the moment.

He went to find Wang Kuan.

How did you know?

He came to find me yesterday.

And I

beat him away.

I think

you were the one was beaten.

Even if it’s true, keep it to yourself.

That’s what fiends do.

Who’s your friend?

How much longer do you need?

This is not an ordinary lock.

We may need a key.

They used this to lock Han Duanzhang.

I’m not surprised.

I’ll go steal the key.

Steal the key from Dean Lu?

That’s simply looking for death!

Then I’ll figure out another way.

Stop.

What?

Don’t bother to save me.

No way.

Let me finish.

Since Dean Lu locked me up here,

he wasn’t going to kill me.

They are not gonna starve me,

I’ll be fine.

Dean Lu and Han Duanzhang join hands

to create civil strife in Liao.

Han Duanzhang?

Civil strife in Liao?

You’ve searched their rooms.

Jing wasn’t there.

But we still didn’t see Di Jiang.

They told you

that he was already gone last night.

Not really.

Somebody said he just showed up in the yard.

I’ll send people

to find Di Jiang and Jing.

I’ll let you know if there’s anything.

Then we’ll stay

in the hostel for a while.

Why?

Yuan Zhongxin and Wang Kuan are both wanted.

Other sections all look down upon us.

We’ll be back after the truth is found out.

Their judging eyes are too much to take.

Alright.

Then get settled first.

Don’t worry too much

about Yuan Zhongxin and Wang Kuan.

I’m sure they won’t kill someone for no reason.

You should tell that to Di Jiang.

If Di Jiang comes to confront you,

let him come to me.

Off you go.

Dean Lu.

You just checked on me a while ago.

Junior Wei and Xue Ying were here.

Something happened to Jing.

What exactly?

Di Jiang told them in a letter

that he’d kill Wang Kuan

to avenge Liu Sheng.

Liu Sheng was killed by Han Duangzhang.

Why didn’t you tell him?

I can’t.

It should be kept a secret for now.

If something bad happens to Jing,

you should be responsible for that!

I think

Jing’s missing

is related to Wang Kuan and Yuan Zhongxin.

Do you know

where are they hiding?

I don’t.

I want to find them so that I can protect them.

That’s what you are saying now.

But for your so-called “bigger picture,”

I’m afraid you’d let them end up like Liu Sheng.

Trust me.

I will let Han Duanzhang

pay for Liu Sheng’s death.

I once trusted you.

After the wedding,

everything will come to an end.

It won’t take too long.

Have some water.

Princess,

trust me.

Wang didn’t kill Xiaohua.

You are of course side with him.

Otherwise,

why would he spare your life?

Anyway, before the real killer is found,

I insist that he’s the murderer.

The real killer will be found.

You’ll see.

The weirdest part

is about that killer.

He killed Xiaohua,

but didn’t do anything else.

Shouldn’t the princess

be his target?

There’s no point to guess around

without any evidences.

Let’s go check the corner of the west street again later.

I know.

I’m also worried about Yuan.

Oh.

Does Section 5 know this place?

Di Jiang is looking for you everywhere.

He’ll definitely kill you if he sees you.

No worry.

I found this place before I joined Secret Repository.

No one else knows.

You are looking for Wang Kuan?

Who are you?

I’m a friend of Dean Lu.

I don’t belong to Secret Repository anymore.

It’s my own business to kill Wang Kuan.

Others have nothing to do with it.

Do you think

you can find him by walking around

on the street like this?

You know where he is?

I don’t.

But I can help you find him.

How?

Take off your mask.

Your appearance

can be faked by others.

I have to be cautious.

You are not gonna throw them away?

It’s quite handy to disguise myself as Di Jiang with them.

They may be useful again.

Let’s make it clear first.

Why didn’t you save Zhao Jian?

I couldn’t open that lock.

Why didn’t you steal the key?

It wasn’t in the room.

I think Dean Lu carries it around with him.

But we need to save her anyway.

How?

Dean Lu is so alert.

Who can steal the key from him?

I didn’t say I wouldn’t save her.

You can steal the key from him?

I can’t.

Can you?

Are you kidding?

I’m not capable of doing that.

Let’s split.

Xue Ying,

go to the second corner of the west street and leave a mark.

Tell Wang Kuan to meet us behind the hostel tonight.

Okay.

Junior Wei,

you go get the key.

I told you. I can’t steal it.

I didn’t ask you to steal it.

I asked you to get it.

You think he’ll hand it over himself?

Sounds about right.

You are under too much pressure.

Are you losing your mind?

Just listen to me.

Wait.

What about you?

I need to go see someone.

It won’t be fun without creating a trouble

after knowing

Han Duanzhang’s methods.

Looking on the street is not the way to go.

If you want to find Wang Kuan,

you need to keep an eye on the people of Section 7.

Those kids

won’t give up on each other.

Wang Kuan is mine!

No worry.

He

is not my target.

Do you understand it?

The codes are different from section to section.

It should be a code for meeting.

Time?

Place?

Don’t worry.

Let’s wait here.

Meet behind the hostel tonight.

I finally heard from them.

Let’s go.

What is it?

Commandant Lv sent you a cart.

He invited you to his mansion for a chat.

Lv Jian?

Why would he want to meet me?

He didn’t say.

Shall I send them back?

Wait.

I’ll go.

And

bring a few guards.

If they are not heading to Lv’s mansion,

we’ll take them down right away.

Yes.

I’ve heard from them!

The code read

“Meet behind the hostel tonight.”

Are you sure about the code?

It’s the code used by our section only.

No one can fake it.

It means Yuan Zhongxin is fine.

Thank you.

I’m okay.

As long as we’ve heard from them.

I knew

that Di Jiang couldn’t catch Yuan Zhongxin.

I need only your life,

Wang Kuan!

This place is just so-so.

Princess.

What are you doing here?

I’m here to save you.

They followed me!

It’s my fault!

It’s okay.

Don’t panic.

Leave them to me.

You take princess to get out of here.

No.

If you can escape,

find a place to hide.

I won’t leave you alone here!

If you don’t leave,

I can’t escape either.

Cut the crap!

I’ll kill you now!

Dean Lu.

According to His Majesty’s decree,

due to the commandant’s severe illness,

visitors aren’t allowed to meet him with weapons.

Please allow me.

Dean Lu.

It’s just a key.

But it’s sharp enough to kill.

Dean Lu.

I’ll let you watch it.

Dean Lu,

don’t worry.

I’ll return it to you later.

Give it to me!

He really handed it over himself!

Yuan Zhongxin was right again!

Go to hell!

Let’s go!

Let’s go!

He didn’t kill Liu Sheng!

Why are you still here?

How can I leave?

You’ll die!

We can find the real killer together!

Liu Sheng was detained in prison.

He was the only visitor.

Maybe Liu Sheng was killed by the Ministry of Punishments.

They had no reason.

Neither did Wang Kuan!

I got the key.

What did you say to Commandant Lv?

As you asked.

Let him

to stall Lu Guannian for a while.

He didn’t ask why?

As you said,

I told him Lu Guannian was up to something.

We wanted to investigate him.

The details

would be shared later.

You know what?

He really agreed!

Lv Jian has always wanted to close Secret Repository.

He’s of course happy to hear there’s a problem about Lu Guannian.

Does it count as betrayal

by saying that?

Do you want to save Zhao Jian?

Of course!

Then why the hesitation?

Plus,

Lu Guannian betrayed us first.

Makes sense.

Is this the key?

We’ll see after trying it.

You are not good at Qing Kung.

So wait here.

You said you were going to see someone.

Who did you see?

Old Thief.

I thought he was on Dean Lu’s side.

He only eyes on money.

But the Kaifeng government is offering rewards

for information leading to you.

I gave him a great amount of money.

Much more than the rewards.

To prevent him from giving you away?

To ask his people to do me a favor.

What kind of favor?

Telling stories.

I’ll explain later.

Now I have to go save Zhao Jian.

A great amount of money?

You are quite generous.

Not my money!

I didn’t have any.

You stole my money!

Let him go!

I’ll kill you!

Don’t hurt an innocent girl.

Would you trust me?

He’s from Liao.

How can you trust him instead of me?

What if he’s the killer?

Hey, girl.

I just saved your life.

I’ll give you one last chance.

Get away!

Or I’ll kill you too!

Listen to him.

Just step aside.

That’s a smart move.

I can’t stop them.

You did right.

Don’t avenge me

after I die.

Di Jiang is misled.

He’s not a bad person.

Sorry.

You did very well.

Jing, let’s go.

Come on.

What?

Let’s go!

Jing, what are you doing?

Are you crazy?

Why are you dragging me down with him?

Leave?

You think you can leave today?

He is Han Duanzhang,

Supervisor of Surveillance Division in North House of Liao.

You’ve got to watch out for him.

I’ll kill her if you kill him!

Jing, are you out of your mind?

I don’t know that mask guy.

Why do you use me to threaten him?

Han Duanzhang has been looking for you.

So he needs you.

Go to hell!

She was right.

I need the princess alive.

It’s none of my business.

They are far from us. I can’t stop her.

So I have to stop you first.

Please understand.

I also want to save that girl.

Jing.

Well done!

Wang, hurry and come here!

This is why

you said sorry just now?

You asked me to protect her.

But I couldn’t watch you going die.

Sorry.

You should say sorry to me!

Stop Di Jiang.

Or I’ll kill her!

Let’s go.

Is Dean Lu

here yet?

I’m here.

I’m here.

Why didn’t you wake me up?

I also took the time

sitting there for a while.

You look

much better now.

In that case,

it could be terminal lucidity.

Why did you say that?

Your illness is not serious.

Don’t lie to me.

I know I don’t have much time left.

No, Commandant…

When life comes to the end,

it’s time to think back on

the mistakes I’ve made

and to make up for them.

How long have we known each other?

I’ve served you

for over 30 years.

I remember when I first met you,

you were a young

and aspiring scholar

with ambition and promise.

I was too ignorant

and arrogant back then.

So

you think you are better now?

I idled away my time.

Even up to this day,

I still have

little talent.

I didn’t mean that.

I’ve provided you

with opportunities of experiencing competition in the official circle

and the mind games.

You’ve become

more sophisticated

and experienced.

But

the morality and beliefs

you once stuck to

have also been forgotten

and ditched.

If it wasn’t

for me,

you might have still

been a righteous scholar.

Morality is not the solution

to protect our Song.

Some people pursue righteousness

in daylight,

while some have to

blaze a trail in darkness.

But you’ve lingered too long

in darkness.

Is that why you are against

Secret Repository?

I told you.

It’s time to make up

for the mistakes.

I thought you were just

worried about the ever-growing power of Secret Repository,

so you wanted to replace me

with someone you trust

and secure

Lv family.

This is what happens

when you stay in darkness for too long.

You tend to think the worst of people.

You don’t care

about what’s right or wrong

but only the results.

When it comes to the future of our country,

it doesn’t matter what’s right or wrong.

If everybody thinks so,

then would there be any hope

in this world?

There’s no hope.

Those young people who still

care about what’s right or wrong and believe in justice

are our hope.

But they are too

inexperienced.

They always idealize

this world.

Isn’t that what Secret Repository

should cherish and protect?

Dean Lu.

Remember

to look back.

Why are you back?

What are you doing?

I’m having a tangerine.

Can’t you see?

I racked my brain to save you,

and you are doing this?

Doing what?

Look,

I’m already stuck here.

Anger would only

make myself feel worse.

So why not just relax?

Are you here to save me?

What do you think?

I’ve got the key.

What did you do to Dean Lu?

I asked Lv Jian to meet him.

They took the key during security check.

By the way,

why do you want to save me?

Sorry,

I didn’t follow.

There are Dean Lu,

Han Duanzhang,

the wedding,

and the princess.

Such a mess.

Why can’t you solve the problems yourselves?

Here, no one’s gonna bother me.

Not bad at all.

You…

You…

I was kidding!

You really believed it?

I was kidding.

Zhao Jian, what happened to you?

You were such a nice girl.

You’ve changed.

I learned it from you.

Great!

Where’s the key?

I have to hurry and take it back.

What’s the point of taking it back?

No point.

Dean Lu will see you are gone once he’s back,

with or without the key.

Then why didn’t you tell Junior Wei?

He ran away

before I could stop him.

Have you told them

about Han Duanzhang’s intention and his identity?

I’ve told everybody except Jing and Wang Kuan.

What about Yunni?

She should be with them.

Okay.

We have to tell Yunni

about Han Duanzhang’s intention.

Let’s go.

Wait.

Where are we going?

You don’t know where she is?

How would I know where Wang Kuan is?

He’s your best friend!

His father can’t even find him,

let alone me.

They’ve left codes here.

We’ll meet them tonight.

I’m afraid something might happen

before night comes.

I’ve given Old Thief a great amount of money

and asked him to keep an eye

for us.

I think we’ll hear from him soon.

You stole money again.

Is that how you

see me?

Whose?

Junior Wei’s.

Dean Lu.

My key?

Thank god I got here in time!

Sorry, princess.

Is it still hurt?

I thought you’d cry.

But you were smarter than that.

Can’t believe you used me as a bargaining chip.

I don’t know why I did that.

I didn’t even think.

If you are mad,

just yell at me,

or,

you can hit me.

I won’t hit back.

Okay.

If you say so.

Why are you laughing?

I’m surprised to see

a weak girl

can be so brave

for her beloved.

It’s nice.

I also want to meet a man

who can make me brave like that.

What if Han Duanzhang didn’t let him go?

Would you really kill me?

Stop forcing her.

This question

is too hard for Jing.

You are lucky

that you could win Jing over.

But Xiaohua can’t die for nothing.

I won’t let you go.

Again,

I didn’t kill her.

Coming.

Dean.

You are here.

I have something to tell you.

Yuan Zhongxin

gave me some money

and asked me to find out where Wang Kuan is.

And my people

have actually really seen him.

Are you interested?

What’s your price?

I won’t ask too much.

How about

double than what Yuan Zhongxin paid me?

Is that too much?

We can discuss it.

Not too much.

It’s really cheap.

You are so close to Yuan Zhongxin.

And you’ll sell your friend

with such a price?

Dean,

I’m not doing this for money.

Wang Kuan

is wanted for killing someone

in prison.

If I helped Xuan Zhongxin,

I’d put all my people in danger.

But,

if I can help you,

maybe I and my people

will have a better future.

People’s hearts

are so unpredictable.

Dean,

look,

that’s a line from Wang Youcheng’s poem.

I know you must despise people like us.

Sure,

we also don’t think highly of ourselves.

After all,

it’s all for survival.

I was just saying.

I don’t despise you.

Let’s drop it.

Lead the way.

Okay!

Let’s go!

Where shall we go now?

I don’t know Kaifeng

as well as Xuan Zhongxin.

It’s hard to find a hiding place for now.

The government is after me,

and Di Jiang wants to kill me.

You two will be in danger

if you are with me.

I don’t care!

Listen to me.

Take the princess

to Yuan Zhongxin.

Let’s go together.

We are followed.

Han Duanzhang’s people?

Just some hooligans.

But they are after me.

So you should leave now

and you’ll have better chance to escape.

No.

If you don’t, we’ll all be captured.

Or you can save me

after you escape.

Why can’t we escape together?

The hooligans are everywhere.

We can’t escape from them.

Listen to me.

Just go.

The two girls left.

Shall we go after them?

We are ordered

to find Wang Kuan.

He’s our

only target.

Where are we going?

To find Yuan and the others.

Then we can save Wang.

How can we find them?

I thought we’d meet them tonight.

No need to wait.

They are at the hostel.

We can go there now.

Wait.

I finally got out of there.

What am I gonna do

if I go back there again?

I know.

So you don’t have to go in.

You mean

we’ll split?

No.

If Han Duanzhang catches Wang,

I need to exchange you for him.

No matter what,

you can’t leave.

But you are going to the hostel.

I’ll let you hide somewhere

and I’ll go meet you later.

Okay.

Then I’ll just hide here.

I’ll wait for you

to be back.

You’d run away.

Then what are you gonna do?

Jing.

What are you doing?

These are the garbage from remolding the house.

What are you looking for?

It can’t be too thick,

or it’ll be dangerous.

What do you mean?

Sorry.

I need to make sure you won’t run away.
