that collects personal
information on people

without asking permission,

If a landlord sees something on a report

he or she doesn't like,
they are free to investigate.

They are free to ask
the applicant about it.

They're free to trust their own instincts

The report doesn't make
the final decision.

The landlord does.

A jury with a highly-attuned
sense of proportionality

will also weigh in the fact

that these reports cost 12 bucks apiece.

Any reasonable person
is gonna approach them

with some level of skepticism.

was, I walked by that building

every day on my way to and from work,

and every time I'd see it,
I'd just get madder and madder.

So it was, like, two days later,

and I decided to just go in
and talk to someone.

So I went to the rental office,

I told them who I was
and why I was there,

and they pulled out
this report they had on me.

A report like this?

Uh-huh. I think that's the exact one,
actually.

Uh, yeah. That's my name on it.

I'd like

for an apartment
