Put your hands up! We'll shoot you if you move.

Captain?

Sir, why are you here?

I'm in the middle of an operation.

What are you guys doing here?

A female child went missing at Sector 21,

so we got formal authorization from our superiors to search for her.

But

why is there a civilian in a military zone?

Has this been reported as well?

I couldn't reach you, so I took precautionary action.

Precautionary action?

We all agreed to it.

If a problem arises, I will get reprimanded.

Captain Song.

The assistant team leader and the members didn't do anything wrong.

I was the one who insisted on coming with them. I apologize.

However, have you seen Soo-young inside the building?

No, I haven't.

Are you sure that the child came here?

Yes, sir. Mac successfully found her scent and brought us here.

Sir.

First Lieutenant Son sent us a report saying there might be another target.

- Target? - First Lieutenant Son

is on her way here right now.

I will finish up the operation to find the missing person.

Please leave it to me.

Okay.

It's hard to find your way inside the building.

As of this moment, you will follow First Lieutenant Lee's orders.

- Yes, sir. - Yes, sir.

Sergeant Yong and I will be the command team

and search the inside of the building.

- Captain Song, Sergeant First Class Park, - Yes.

- Staff Sergeant Ju, and... - Yes.

My name is Kim Da-jung.

You will be joined by Kim Da-jung

to secure the outside and search the outside of the building.

- That's all. - I want to go inside as well.

You can't. Let's move. Go in.

Sir.

Leave this area to us and take a look around outside.

Okay.

Please look carefully.

Of course.

Episode 8

Sergeant Yong, let's go.

Soo-young.

Chun Soo-young.

But

would your child have been able to come all the way here?

Soo-young takes after me and is very adventurous.

She would've been able to come here.

Did you say that Soo-young is ten years old?

Yes.

I'm sure she's okay. Don't be too worried.

First, let's look over there.

Staff Sergeant Ju.

Report your current situation.

There is nothing out of the ordinary as of now.

Okay. We are going to search the basement of the building.

First Lieutenant Lee.

First Lieutenant Lee.

Staff Sergeant Ju.

- Staff Sergeant Ju. - First Lieutenant Lee.

Sir.

I think the reception is weak here.

Sergeant First Class Park.

Sergeant First Class Park. It seems our communications have been jammed.

Is your radio working okay?

First Lieutenant Lee and Sergeant Yong have entered the basement of the building.

Sergeant Yong. I see a door over here.

I'm going in.

Darn it.

Soo-young.

What happened to you? Did you get hurt?

No.

What? Where did he go? Mister.

Who's the man?

A kind man who saved me.

A man saved you?

Yes. This is his home.

What are you talking about?

Let's go back to base first.

Yes, sir.

- Soo-young, let's go home. - Okay.

Let's go.

We found the missing child.

We will stop the search and return to base.

Over.

They found Soo-young.

What? Where is she?

Let's go.

Thank you. Thank you all so much.

I told you nothing would happen.

This is a relief.

They are currently withdrawing from the basement with Soo-young.

They failed to go after the target.

Sir, I brought the vaccine with me.

It's highly likely that he is the host of the previous target,

so I made it as strong as possible.

What do you think about trying it out?

Host? Is he stronger than the previous guy?

That's what I believe.

Then will high frequency work?

Sergeant Yong brought speakers.

I haven't been able to test it out yet,

but as of right now, I can only hope that it will work.

The host.

But Soo-young.

You did a fist bump with him. Did you teach him that?

What?

You

did this with him.

No, he did it first.

He did?

First Lieutenant Lee.

Please take Soo-young and go up first.

No, you can't do this alone.

I will just verify the location of the target and come right up.

Then stay alert.

Yes, sir.

Go on up.

- Soo-young! - Mom!

Come here.

Are you okay?

- Yes. - Did you get hurt?

Come here.

Where's Sergeant Yong?

He's after the target.

What?

We are all going back.

Sir.

It's too dark underground now and our safety cannot be guaranteed.

We can't all go in.

Then First Lieutenant Son and I will go in.

I want the rest of you to keep watch here.

Yes, sir.

Move.

Soo-young.

Are you okay? Did you not get hurt?

Mom, I'm sorry.

I didn't listen to you and came in here.

At least you know you should be sorry.

But you shouldn't scold the man.

He saved me.

What?

The man who lives in there.

Sergeant Yong!

First Lieutenant Son, get ready to fire.

Darn it.

Stop.

Don't move or I'll shoot.

Darn it.

I'm ready, sir.

Now.

No, he's nice.

He saved me.

You must tell me the truth, Chun Soo-young.

Thank you.

Sir, do you know how to get to Chungong-ri from here?

Can't you speak?

Sir!

That's strange.

If it weren't for him, I could have been in big trouble.

You did a fist bump with him. Did you teach him that?

No, he did it first.

So...

Sir.

A fist bump.

Come on.

This is how you do it.

Okay.

It's okay.

Right.

Sergeant Yong!

What are you doing?

No, sir.

This target is

somewhat different.

What?

Sir, Staff Sergeant Ju is attacked.

Staff Sergeant Ju!

What's wrong?

What happened?

I was attacked by the target.

Can you move your legs?

I can't feel my legs.

It might be a spinal fracture. It's an emergency.

This is Polaris. We have one injured soldier.

Please send the medics to the operational area. Over.

The one with spine fractures must move as little as possible.

We should put a rain poncho on the ladder and move him with it.

Watch out.

Hang in there, Staff Sergeant Ju.

No, no. Bear with it.

It's been reported to the Civilian Police.

You can go home now.

Ma'am.

You look different in the military uniform.

Right. It takes me back.

I will never go in there again.

I'm so glad she's fine.

If this happens again, I won't look for you.

You're slack these days.

I'm sorry. I was scared too.

I will never go there again.

Is Soo-young sick?

They said something about some unknown substance,

but I don't know what they're talking about.

They said she needed to get a checkup, so I made a doctor's appointment.

But she keeps scratching it and I'm worried.

Right. Staff Sergeant Ju got hurt while trying to save Soo-young.

Could you please keep me updated with his status?

Sure. I will call you.

Thanks.

Soo-young!

Dad.

Are you okay? Did you get hurt?

No.

Why did you go in there?

Mom already scolded me a lot.

Did she?

Then I won't scold you.

Honey, are you okay?

- I'm okay. - You did well.

Thank you.

Is Dr. Baek in the health center?

He quit the job.

- What? - He suddenly gave in his notice.

I was told to take his position until we have a new chief.

He used to say there's no place like this village

and he'd stay here until he retires.

Everyone in the village liked him a lot. What a shame.

I wonder why he suddenly quit.

Restricted area

Staff Sergeant Ju Moon-chul was diagnosed with spinal fractures.

He will need eight weeks to recover, so he can't join any operation for now.

Does his family know about it?

Then I will contact them.

Okay.

It seems that he suddenly got attacked.

No.

The target

didn't attack him.

Don't you know what happened?

I think it's just an accident happened during the conflict.

But Staff Sergeant Ju has been injured.

If you take a look at it,

the target is only looking at Staff Sergeant Ju, standing.

This target seems much different from the last.

It has

no intention to attack.

What about you?

I think it's just like the last target.

Sergeant First Class Park?

I think it must've been defending,

thinking that it was being attacked.

And there was something odd.

Soo-young said

that a kind man

saved her.

You want to trust a kid without any clear evidence?

Well,

that's what I've been told,

and I've been helped as well.

By the target?

Yes.

A part of the ceiling was falling, so I was in danger,

and I think the target

saved me from getting hit.

Sergeant Yong, make a note of every move of the target

into minutes and report to me.

Yes, sir.

I'm sorry that this happened

while I was gone due to another task.

We'll see the end of this for Staff Sergeant Ju.

Understood?

- Yes, sir. - Yes, sir.

Check your belongings, and we'll start moving from 8 p.m.

- Yes, sir. - Yes, sir.

I didn't think I'd be coming back here again.

Sergeant Yong.

You're here.

Does this mean that we'll be here longer?

I guess so.

Is it true that there's another target?

Are you serious?

What do we do?

What do we do? We have to get it.

You're saying

we have to stay here for longer?

Gosh.

Another target?

What is that?

Luckily, we know where it is.

Don't worry.

We'll get it before the peace speech.

You have to.

You absolutely have to.

Is it a North Korean again?

We haven't confirmed that yet.

What about the substance you've been searching for?

It wasn't above the ground,

but the building has an underground floor.

It must be there.

Can you get in there?

I have to.

I'll do it. Trust me.

Restricted area

The person you have reached is unavailable.

Hey.

It's me.

I got a report, so I know.

You have to kill it before the peace speech.

Good work.

Did you

give Captain Song an order?

Yes.

Don't mind it.

You told me to spy on him and Commander.

Yes, and he got on my side, all thanks to you.

It's all thanks to you, really. Good job.

When are you going to take back your candidacy for the presidency?

I took care of it.

But promise me that you'll take back your candidacy for the presidency.

That's the only way to solve everything.

All right, Joon-sung. I'll do that.

Thank you.

Joon-sung,

it's not as easy as you think it is.

Do you know how many supporters I have?

Must I disappoint them?

You're just a kid who doesn't know anything.

But you promised me!

Let's stop talking.

I'm busy.

Did you hear that there's another target?

How can a commander be so late to report?

Apparently, there's another target.

The peace speech is coming up soon,

so take care of it.

I made an order to Captain Song,

so don't scold him too much.

Those North Koreans.

Maybe something is actually going on.

What did you do with the camcorder?

Are you still worried about that?

No wonder you're still on medication.

Just stay low,

General Han Dae-sik.

I was going to crush you along with the camcorder,

but I'm leaving you alive because I still need to use you.

You idiot.

Get the target already!

Song Min-gyu! Where's my report?

I was just going to report to you,

but how could I go there when there's another target?

Are you disobeying me?

I wouldn't do that.

I'll go after my work is done.

I don't have time right now.

Captain Song!

Chun Soo-young, stand tall.

Salute!

Salute! Thank you.

Salute!

Soo-young, don't you ever wander off alone again, okay?

She promised to never do that again.

Here's a present for you.

That's Soo-young's favorite.

It's okay, take it. She's like me and can't just accept favors.

Thank you, Soo-young.

Don't lose it.

Okay.

Let me know if you have any updates on Staff Sergeant Ju.

And before I forget, I'll bring the uniform back later.

Let's go. We'll get going now. Salute!

- Salute! - Salute!

Salute!

- Bye now. - Bye.

Is Soo-young sick?

They said something about some unknown substance,

but I don't know what they're talking about.

They said she needed to get a checkup, so I made a doctor's appointment.

But she keeps scratching it and I'm worried.

Director Moon, I think we need to do more research

on what side-effects the substance can bring onto humans.

We found that it causes skin rash and nose bleeds,

but not to everyone.

Yes, I'll be waiting for your call.

The substance and the target.

Was the target trying to stop me from taking the substance?

Come on.

- What are you doing? - This target is somewhat different.

What?

Promise?

You asked

what my father does the last time.

I've never answered that question

after graduating middle school.

I wasn't sure if I could say

someone who became another person's father was my father.

That man

has a lot of resentment because he couldn't get a star due to his leg.

But luckily,

that woman's children had no interest in the army.

That's why I...

I thought that if I fulfilled that dream...

My son is so cool.

You should get a star in your father's place.

Yes, sir.

I thought he'd become my father.

Why are you telling me this?

I don't know.

I just wanted to tell you.

What's the point of telling me now?

I don't have any interest in other people's family life.

I understand why you would want to protect your father,

but what's wrong is wrong.

Lee Joon-sung

According to the International Peace Award which is having their centennial,

this year's Peace Award will be given to

Lee Hyuk, the chairman of the National Defense Committee.

The International Peace Award is an internationally prestigious award,

and Congressman Lee Hyuk is the first Korean to receive it.

As a result, he has secured his position as a presidential candidate.

Goodness. Thank you, sir.

Yes.

Can anyone be unhappy after receiving an award?

Yes.

Yes, of course. It's all thanks to you all.

Congratulations, ROK Army Commander, Han Dae-sik

Yes. We must all work hard for the sake of peace.

Yes, of course. Goodbye.

What?

Han Dae-sik?

The 1997 Sector 21 Incident is all a lie.

Everything that Captain Lee Hyuk said at the time was a lie.

No.

Hey.

Hey, you punks!

You have to prove that we're on the same boat.

The baby saw everything.

Grab it.

Grab it!

I can't do it.

The baby doesn't know anything.

Were you surprised?

Should I have called first before visiting the Commander?

No, it's okay.

What were you writing?

It's nothing.

A Declaration of Conscience.

Is that why you called various media outlets

and told them you had something to announce?

Did you think I wouldn't find out, Dae-sik?

I can't live like this in constant fear.

I want to confess to everything, step down from my position,

and live comfortably.

I have never been comfortable since that day.

You must've been through a lot.

You should live comfortably from now on.

Honestly, I'm really exhausted too.

I regret

what happened then.

I really regret it too.

We should've confessed everything and taken our punishment.

You're right.

We should've done that.

Are you serious?

I must be getting old.

I'm having regrets too.

Get plenty of rest.

Hyuk. Don't do this.

Who are you guys? Hyuk.

Hey!

Sergeant Yong.

Isn't this the person who visited our unit?

Oh, you already saw it.

This is really cool.

Will the Truth Be Buried?

How is this possible?

Will the Truth Be Buried?

Right. I know things were hectic as soon as you got back,

but we must discuss things anyway.

In the report that you wrote,

you said that you found a strange substance in the target.

I'm wondering if that substance was what caused the target to become like that.

You need to help me find that substance.

Why aren't you answering me?

Sir.

I don't know why you're obsessing over a substance that is just an assumption,

but I believe we must focus on capturing the other target right now.

Furthermore,

anything related to the substance is in the jurisdiction of the KCST.

Is that so?

What should we do then?

I am still the superior officer in this operation.

See, I don't have anything.

That's why I need to get something in my hand,

but this amazing thing came to me, so I must hold onto it.

Don't you agree?

You should end things here.

That's too bad, First Lieutenant Son.

It would've been nice if you joined me.

But

do you think this is something I can decide to do on my own?

So bring me something to find.

General Han Dae-sik Found Dead at a Sanitarium

Army General, Han Dae-sik, has been found dead.

He passed away at a sanitarium located in Gyeonggi Province.

They found pill bottles with him.

There was no suicide letter found at the scene.

It has been confirmed that he had been suffering from depression.

The police stated that there is no evidence of a homicide.

He just died out of nowhere.

Is there really something here?

He suddenly hit me with a twist.

Hey. Be careful.

They're already telling us to watch what we say.

Everyone is really nervous right now.

We can't do our jobs if we follow the atmosphere.

Don't you think we should at least try questioning things?

If you keep digging into things, you'll end up digging your own grave.

Do it in moderation.

Gosh.

This package came for you.

Who sent this to me?

Maybe it's the Unabomber.

Goodness.

Be careful. It might explode.

My goodness.

Gosh, that's a 6mm videotape.

We used to cover a lot of stories with this.

How am I supposed to watch this?

You're going to have to get it encoded.

You should check out Saemun Arcade. They have a place that restores tapes.

Sir. Hold on.

- Can you check this for me? - Okay.

Let's see.

Although this target is showing different behaviors,

our goal is to kill it regardless.

But

do we need to kill it?

It's the order from headquarters.

And we are here to obey the order.

Do you understand?

- Yes, sir. - Yes, sir.

Get ready.

First Lieutenant Son.

Where's the detector?

It's on its way here.

Make sure we have it before we begin the operation.

Yes, sir.

Hey, Hee-ra. How impatient of you to call me again.

Dong-jin.

I will tell you everything later,

so don't be surprised.

What do you mean?

I also need to see what happened.

I will tell you everything.

So just listen to me, okay?

Hee-ra.

What's going on?

International Peace Award, National Defense Commissioner Lee Hyuk

Sir.

Let me...

What?

A video of the shooting incident

happened in the DMZ in 1997 has been disclosed.

The video's content is completely different from the statements made

by Congressman Lee Hyuk and the late First Lieutenant Han,

which is stirring up the society.

The soldier in the video that seems to be Lee Hyuk kills

his comrades and Captain Jo Min-gook,

whom he stated to have defected to the North, which is shocking everyone.

The military authorities and the police

are verifying the source and the authenticity of this video

and started a reinvestigation on the late First Lieutenant Han's death.

As fast as possible.

Yes, sir.

That darned punk!

I...

I should have made sure it was gone.

Please report to headquarters that I'm quitting.

I can't do this anymore.

I'm the one to decide. Wait for now.

This is Night Owl.

It's from our soldiers' training. Over.

All right.

Moving on.

How far are we going?

Hyuk, you should've just stayed at the headquarters.

Why did you have to come all the way here and sign up for struggles?

Captain, the North Koreans put poison in that water!

Move.

What are you doing? Stop.

The headquarters didn't give us an order. You can't decide as you'd like.

You killed them.

You wanted to succeed with this mission

so that you'd be promoted and get a medal!

You used our lives for yourself!
