Twisted Fate of Love

Episode 31

Hello, what can I offer you?

It’s late.

We’d like something to eat.

Make it quick.

Yes.

Here come

our buns. They’re the best.

Please enjoy.

What’s wrong?

This place must be run by bandits.

The liquor might be drugged.

You’re paranoid.

Don’t you think

it smells funny?

Is it poisoned?

No...

The owner here is highly skilled.

We’re injured

and might not be his match.

No...

Sir!

Bring us food and liquor.

-Got it. -Hurry!

We’ve been searching for days

but there’s no trace of him.

-Yes. -That’s right.

The power struggle among the high-ups

only gets us into trouble.

-I know, right? -I can’t agree more.

You know what?

Commander Chi is dead.

So,

if Minister Feng is caught...

Sir, you look familiar.

Wanted

Feng Xi?

Are you Feng Xi?

Yes.

I’m the one you’ve been looking for.

Sorry about the trouble.

Seize him!

You fool! That was close!

Don’t you know how to drug others?

Isn’t that your strong suit?

Why didn’t you do it?

Listen,

if my wife were still alive,

I wouldn’t give a damn about you.

You know my sister is gone,

so you keep abusing me.

Are you talking back to me?

I’ll teach you a lesson!

Wang Chui,

he’s young.

Don’t be too harsh on him.

Be patient with him.

Wang Chui, Owner of the Inn

Wang Chui, Owner of the Inn Sir,

Wang Chui, Owner of the Inn you don’t know

Wang Chui, Owner of the Inn how naughty he is.

He should be

well disciplined.

So you know each other?

Wang Chui,

it’s been so long

and your buns are as bad as before.

Really?

They can’t be.

Young Master.

Yuanshan.

It’s been a while.

Young Master,

I worked here for days

without seeing you.

There were all kinds of rumors.

I was worried sick.

I’m sorry.

Despite a few twists and turns,

I’ve acquired the Instrument of Surrender.

You have?

Haoshan and Yin have been at war for months.

This Instrument of Surrender is drafted for a truce.

54 Mings died for this!

54 of them!

I’m entrusting this to you

to bring it to Mengshan Prefecture.

It concerns the innocence of the Ming family

and your future.

I...

I dare not accept it.

Hadn’t you got me out of the palace,

I would’ve been long gone.

No one else

deserves to keep this file.

Once I arrive in the capital,

Lu Yuantong and Minister Fang will come at me.

It’s not safe for me to keep it.

I’ll take good care

of it.

Good.

Once the time is ripe,

you can join me for our mission.

Your wish is my command.

Young Master,

take care.

Bury them as fertilizers.

Got it, got it!

Liquor

Aren’t they going to be the stuffing?

Miss,

you got it wrong.

Smell it.

We use pork as the stuffing

not the human flesh.

Aren’t you running this inn for robbery?

A few years back,

I robbed guests here

and all the way to the capital.

When I foolishly tried to

rob Minister Feng,

he took me in.

Since then, I’ve started working for him.

Is Wang Chui your real name?

A name is just a code.

It doesn’t matter.

Thanks to Minister Feng,

I’ve turned over a new leaf.

He gave me money to open this inn.

I got married

and led a normal life.

Why would I rob others again?

Where is Feng Xi?

He’s catching up with someone in the kitchen.

Are you looking for me?

Yes.

What took you so long?

I was chatting with a long-lost friend.

Wang Chui has prepared food and liquor.

Let’s go join him.

Sure.

Mr. Feng, you’re back!

Mr. Feng!

Have you been eating properly?

-That’s unfair. -I want to

-Hold me, too. -eat with you.

Sure.

Get down! Get down, you two.

Go eat your food.

Take care of him.

Come here.

Be a good boy.

Those boys seem to be close to you.

Miss,

Minister Feng takes them

as his sons.

Do you mind?

He has sons?

Don’t listen to him.

You probably don’t know

that everyone in this inn

is in debt to him.

He gave us a new life

as if we were reborn.

You’re flattering me.

It’s you who have been

taking good care of those kids.

That’s what I should do.

They all say you’re corrupted

and greedy,

but you’ve spent all that money

helping others.

Strangers can call me names.

I don’t care.

Those who understand me

are my friends.

I’m glad to have met them.

I’ve made some friends over the years.

Wang Chui is one of them.

Here, Wang Chui,

a toast to you.

Thank you.

Sir,

how did you become a wanted criminal?

Minister Fang must’ve pinned the ambush at the Qianqiu Gate

and Lu Zhengming’s injury on me.

I’m going back to the capital immediately

to defend myself.

Minister Fang lied.

He won’t let us return alive.

It won’t be easy for us

to go back.

I can help you.

Sir.

A travel permit.

Travel Permit

Issued to Bai Yunshan and his wife Yan.

How did you get this?

A while ago, my hands were itchy,

so I robbed the rich to help the poor

and obtained this permit issued to a rich couple.

I have to trouble you to play my wife.

My son’s jade pendant and a lot of blood

are found in the haystack 500 meters outside the Qianqiu Gate.

He’s likely to be dead.

Calm down.

Your son is blessed.

Nothing will happen to him.

That rat Feng Xi

plotted all this to kill him.

Please bring him to justice!

Your son is also to blame

by inviting himself to the capital.

He’s too young and ignorant

to see through Feng Xi’s scheme.

A scheme or not,

we’ll know

once we find Feng Xi and your son.

My son means the world to me.

Please allow me to search for him.

Alright.

Your confinement is over.

You can go look for him.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Stop.

Go ahead.

Stop.

Go ahead.

Your permit?

Travel Permit

Stop.

Go ahead.

Officer,

you’re on duty so early. Thanks for your service.

Officer,

my wife and I

own a store in the city.

It’s in some serious trouble

and must be dealt with immediately.

Please do us a favor.

Go ahead.

Stop.

Go ahead.

Peace and Prosperity

Now that you’re safe,

it’s time for us to part.

I once said

I’d tell you everything when you were safe.

Are you waiting for me to confess?

No need.

I know you.

You’re Zhaolu.

I trust you no matter what.

Thanks.

I shall take my leave.

You saved my life.

How should I repay you?

I helped you for justice

and friendship.

You don’t owe me anything.

Where can I find you?

That won’t be necessary.

We won’t see each other again.

If I want,

I can find anyone in this world.

I know.

As my name suggests, the morning dew,

evaporates quickly.

All good things

will only last for so long.

By saving you,

I also gained

emotional support.

We’re even.

Just take this journey as a sweet dream.

I’ll see for myself

if he’s here or not.

Your Excellency,

before searching this place,

do you have

an imperial decree

or a search warrant by Court of Judicial Review?

Feng Xi killed my son.

I have every reason

to search the killer’s home.

Before the truth is out,

this is still Minister Feng’s mansion.

Trespassing

is against the law.

Right now, only women and servants are inside.

Your Excellency,

do you want to be called a bully?

Father!

Feng Xi,

Why did you harm my son?

I didn’t do anything

to him.

I saved him.

Who else could it be other than you?

It should’ve been fine

when your son and I met in secret.

But unexpectedly,

some people seemed to have known we’d be there.

They attempted to assassinate your son

without any mercy.

Your Excellency,

you should know who they are.

Everyone knows

you can call white black.

Can you prove it?

Give me two days.

If I fail to capture the killer,

I’m at your disposal.

Deal.

Two days it is.

If you fail,

you know the consequence.

Bring Zhengming back.

I can go home.

Go home.

I can go home.

One month.

Take this.

As long as you do as I say,

I’ll give you the antidote once you succeed.

Or, you’ll live in hell

in a month.

That’s fast.

Ziyuan, it’s me.

Come in.

Your arm is wounded.

I’m here to bring you the medicine.

Are you alright?

I’m fine.

Just a scratch.

You’re sweating.

You must be badly injured.

Let me treat your wound.

I said I’m fine!

I said...

Last time, you risked your life for me.

I know

you love me all this time, don’t you?

You love me all this time, don’t you?

Let go of me!

Yes,

I said I’d give you time

and I’d wait for you.

Call me a liar or whatever,

but I’m done waiting.

I said let go of me!

I won’t.

I don’t care

why you’re suddenly so cold to me,

but I won’t let you go.

Let go!

You want

an answer, don’t you?

Fine.

I’ll tell you.

I don’t love you anymore.

That’s why I got rid of

the bracelet you gave me.

When you showed me those fireflies,

I didn’t feel anything.

I can’t stand being close to you.

I’m avoiding you!

Don’t you get that?

I don’t love you.

I don’t love you at all.

I...

Fang Yuan!

I underestimated you.

How dare you frame Feng Xi with a false witness

and drag me down!

Do you understand how serious deception is?

Please calm down, Your Highness.

I did all that for you.

I had no choice.

You did it for me?

Have you no shame?

It’s irrefutable that Lu Yuantong colluded with Feng Xi

in an attempt to rebel.

If we can kill two birds with one stone,

we’ll foil Lu Yuantong’s plot

and you’ll have no enemies in court.

If I have to degrade myself

to Feng Xi’s level

to bring him down,

how am I different from him?

I’ll beat him

but it must be done fair and square!

Your Highness,

Lu Zhengming is still alive

and he poses a threat to us.

We must get rid of him.

If he testifies against us,

we’ll be in serious trouble.

We’ll be doomed.

I’ll take responsibility

for my own mistake.

If you kill him,

I will make you pay!

Your Highness,

too much benevolence

will cost you your future.

Get out!

Yes, Your Highness.

Lu’s Mansion

What are you doing here?

Have you caught the assassin?

Isn’t she the Third Prince’s guard?

Yes. Her name is Qingxiao.

Is the one behind my son’s assassination the Third Prince, Pang Yu?

It can’t be clearer.

You only told Minister Fang

about the meeting,

and the one who tried to kill your son is the Third Prince’s guard.

Clearly, Minister Fang had already allied with him

before trolling for information.

Pang Yu always separates himself from state affairs.

He’s proud and aloof.

How come he’s suddenly changed

and sided with Minister Fang

and his followers?

However aloof he seems,

he couldn’t resist the charm of power,

not to mention the throne.

Someone else might steal it.

As the next ruler of the state,

of course he was anxious.

So he set a trap to play us off

against each other.

How could a bud

outgrow a towering tree?

Maybe Pang Yu

isn’t fit to be the Crown Prince.

Your Excellency,

please take my advice

and leave the capital.

Why?

Pang Yu almost killed my son.

He can’t get away with it.

He’s His Majesty’s most trusted son.

With you in the capital

and your troops in Liyun,

targeting the Third Prince

might not end well.

Are you saying

to let him off the hook?

You’re like a caged tiger

in the capital.

The priority is to break free from it.

I need a proper reason

to leave.

Hand Qingxiao to me,

and I’ll figure something out.

You’re punctual.

Come out now.

What do you need, Minister Fang?

Fulai Inn

Are they inside?

Yes, Wang Chui and that chef.

About my money...

Hongzhe, Commander of Eagle Relax. You’ll be rewarded handsomely.

Where’s that lazybones?

Search this place!

You traitor!

I’m your brother-in-law.

Why are you doing this to me?

You’re nothing to me!

You scold and beat me all the time

and you’re cheap.

I don’t even have money to gamble.

You ingrate!

You...

You...

Let me go!

Hospitable and Loyal What are you doing?

Yes.

you’ve found him

and the money you’ve agreed to pay me...

Miss, enjoy your lotus seeds soup.

Thanks.

What did you give him?

Sweet lotus seeds he said no to.

I... I didn’t know he’d be like this.

I meant to leave you a letter

You’re worrying too much.
