Episode 11

Gao Shan,

he tried to avoid the meeting

by pretending to have stomachache.

It took me awhile to find someone

to drag him out.

The chance is gone.

It's not.

Luckily I was quick

and secured his quota

in the name of Zheng Wanying.

But it's quite strange.

I felt Sun Li

really wanted him to join.

He didn't refuse at all.

He just wanted to find someone

to make up the numbers,

so that Du Fei wouldn't be the last one.

It took me a lot to escape from it.

Why did you drag me back

into this trouble?

Because this is my only chance.

What chance?

If you get

to be in charge of the M&A,

then you can suggest Zheng Wanying

to choose your own team members.

You can then

make Gao Shan one of them.

And he won't have to do the printing work.

Will this do?

Zheng Wanying

only cares about the results.

She won't save Sun Li's face.

Lin Wo,

don't you owe me an explanation?

Why did you suddenly become

Zheng Wanying's assistant?

My family and Dalong are somewhat related.

They knew that I lost the job

so they gave me some help.

No wonder I saw you

get into a luxury car.

You've got an unusual background.

I've got none of that.

It's an ordinary relationship.

I'm not even sure if I can make it through the internship.

You have no idea

what a shock I just had.

I was like, "No way.

Could Lin Wo be

the daughter of Dalong's boss?"

But I realised it later on.

If you really were the boss's daughter,

you wouldn't have been bullied

and cheated

when you worked for Fangda.

Oh yeah, are you guys hungry?

Let me treat you to lunch.

Sure.

You guys go ahead.

I'm heading back to the printing room to work.

You don't have to be that hardcore.

Every second matters.

I'll keep you company.

Didn't you say you're buying us lunch?

How could you eat your words?

Can we work in the printing room?

Liu has gotten off work.

She won't be here until 9 a.m. tomorrow.

You

don't have to burn the midnight oil with me.

It's okay.

Even though I'm not good at modelling,

I'm better than you

when it comes to searching for information

and getting to know the retail industry.

In fact, I'm happy to be of help.

You're Zheng Wanying's assistant

and know the retail industry well.

Are you her relative?

We're not related at all.

I'll leave Dalong soon.

There's no need to get too involved.

The snacks are coming!

Why do you come here?

I'm the key person of this project.

I can't be absent.

Moreover,

with my ideas and guidance,

I guarantee that

Du Fei will definitely

resign tomorrow due to embarrassment and anger.

Are you all right?

I'm okay, it just hurts a bit.

I'm going up to get something

and clean my face.

I feel a bit sleepy too.

Is there any coffee left?

Forget it.

I'll get it from the drawer myself.

Ouch.

I'm sorry.

What's the matter with you?

Is that watch

very meaningful to you?

I'm sorry.

It was my father's belonging.

I'm sorry.

But

why don't you fix it?

There's no need for that.

The crack tells me

that the past can never be fixed.

You won't understand.

Stay still.

Massaging earlobe and ear root

can help relieve tinnitus.

Actually, I understand.

On the day my mother passed away,

my father was on holiday

with another woman.

I was all alone in the hospital.

I called my father

and begged him to hurry back

and see my mother for one last time. But...

Feeling better?

How did you know

I was having tinnitus?

I saw you covering your ear

and looking so uncomfortable.

I had it before.

I used to work during the daytime

and take care of my mother at night.

Back then,

sometimes when I got too much pressure,

stress-related tinnitus came.

Thanks.

I was looking for coffee.

It's in...

I'll get it myself.

Stop it.

I'll make it for you.

Gao Shan,

if you feel like talking

to anyone in the future,

talk to me then.

Although I'm not so smart,

it's better to get someone to be with you

than being alone.

Just wait for your coffee.

You're talking too much.

Gao Shan,

remember.

You have no time for relationship.

What?

What a surprise!

Even Su Yuan started to work overtime.

But no matter how hardworking you are,

it won't do you any good.

With your capability,

even if you were given another week,

you would just hand in

a bunch of waste paper.

What did you say?

Mr. Sun let you join the meeting

simply to save his face.

He didn't want to be talked about behind his back.

He reserved all important cases

for the Team A.

Why do you think

he chose a good-for-nothing like you?

Forget it.

I don't want to argue with you.

I

will surely prove myself with my capability.

Unlike you who's just a talker.

How's it going, Gao Shan?

This time we must beat Du Fei down.

You're getting so close so soon?

She's fallen asleep.

On your shoulder?

She's too tired.

So am I.

Let me sleep on your shoulder.

It's almost done.

Did you finish all the writing and charting

in one night?

It's just a rough draft.

I need another hour.

I have a question for you.

Go ahead.

How did you manage to type so fast

while holding her?

A genius is different.

You work faster than us.

With you, this time I will definitely

defeat Du Fei.

Gao Shan is helping him.

What are you smiling about?

I didn't smile.

I'm not.

I'm sorry.

I was supposed to help,

but I fell asleep.

It's okay.

I saw you're quite busy.

You snored, ground your teeth, and drooled.

You kept yourself busy.

Gao Shan and I couldn't focus.

That's impossible.

I witnessed it.

But, objectively speaking,

the data you collected and organised

was very useful.

You're far more effective than

Su Yuan who stayed up the whole night.

Come on.

You just can't stop

covering up for her.

Why don't you tell her that she slept in your arms?

It's done.

You can send it now.

Forget it.

You youngsters,

enjoy being ambiguous.

What's going on?

Fire alarm.

It looks like something happened.

Let's go.

Take the stairs.

Has everyone from the bottom fourth floor been evacuated?

Yes.

Sir,

we've checked.

There's no fire.

What?

What happened?

Tell those on the upper floors

that we're turning off the alarm. There's no need for evacuation.

Yes.

It's strange.

Why do you think so?

Perhaps someone wrongly pressed the button.

What a nuisance!

Can you guys stop

communicating with eyes?

Think about me!

How's it, Gao Shan?

The proposal's gone missing.

I've looked for it.

It's not in the recycle bin.

Where are you going?

Some friends of Deng Li are tech-savvy.

They might be able to recover it.

It's too late.

How about I beg Sun Li

to wait for us for another few hours?

He might say yes for my father.

Do you really think

that fire alarm was just a mistake?

Rascal!

Mr. Sun, did you ask to see me?

It's a mess down there.

What happened?

Nothing, it's a mistake.

It's settled now.

Did you do this?

Yes.

Excuse me.

It's really you!

Su Yuan!

Calm down.

Have you lost your mind?

Have you gotten addicted to fighting?

You deserved it!

You despicable thief!

Su Yuan,

what are you doing?

Mr. Sun,

he stole my proposal.

Are you insane?

Stop talking nonsense.

I stayed up late to make this proposal.

How did it become yours?

Show us the evidence,

or I'll sue you for libel.

You are truly shameless.

Everyone knows your capability, Su Yuan.

Do you know

the data and modelling?

Unless someone's helping you.

What do you mean?

Are you looking down on me?

I am looking down on you.

You always sit idle and do nothing

just because your family is rich.

You are no different from

that salted fish hung at the corridor.

You are all annoying.

Du Fei.

Are you sure you made

that proposal you sent?

Ms. Lin, what do you mean?

Are you defending Su Yuan

because you know each other?

Dalong chose Most Sky

because they had faith in its capability.

And I trust your judgment, Mr. Sun.

Su Yuan,

mind your manners.

Leave now.

I'm sorry, Ms. Zheng.

That's embarrassing.

It's okay.

Where were we talking?

Your name is Du Fei?

Yes, Ms. Zheng.

To be honest,

this proposal

is not only well analysed,

it also states many modes of

mergers and acquisitions of Yijia.

I would say it's comprehensive.

It's indeed not easy

to make it in one night.

Thank you, Ms. Zheng.

Du Fei,

could you please explain to me

what the model here means?

I have the same question.

Ms. Zheng,

I don't understand what you mean.

You don't understand?

I'll stop beating around the bush.

You used false data

to create me an illusion.

And I can understand it.

Competition in the workplace is cruel.

You want to prove

that you can create more wealth.

But you shouldn't let your client

have impractical anticipation

before the M&A.

If you can't succeed in M&A,

you'll face a serious backlash.

What's more important is that

I don't like cheating.

I'm sorry, Mr. Sun.

I can't trust this kind of person.

Ms. Zheng,

I can explain. It's actually...

Are you going to say

that it's Su Yuan's work?

Everyone in this office

heard what you said.

You guaranteed that the proposal

you sent to them

was your hard work.

Mr. Sun.

Get out now.

How's it?

Du Fei was harshly reprimanded

by Zheng Wanying

and kicked out of the team.

There will be another round of competition.

You guys just need to submit

another proposal.

Serve him right.

I should have taken a picture of

his snobbish look

and shown to everyone.

You gave him

a punch, didn't you?

You're still mad?

If you hadn't stopped me,

I would have knocked out all his teeth.

Alright.

You're the strongest.

Here, have some cake.

The strongest.

But, Lin Wo,

you're really smart.

Within such a short time,

you found out the flaw in Gao Shan's proposal.

For me, that's not a flaw.

His proposal is just perfect.

Actually, I don't know much

when it comes to professional knowledge.

But I do know Zheng Wanying.

She hates over-expectation the most.

She's a finance major after all.

So she cares more about stability.

Gao Shan's proposal is actually fine.

You don't need to defend me.

I didn't figure out

the other party's appeal.

The credit is yours.

Aren't you only interning in Dalong?

Why do you know Dalong

and Zheng Wanying so well?

You even know about the details.

I'm curious too.

It's my habit.

The way I see things

is different from yours.

Why are you looking at me?

Is the strawberry cake delicious?

It is.

But you're eating mine

with my fork.

I assume that you belong

to each other now.

What are you doing?

I'm eating the cake.

Use this.

You're such a sloppy eater.

What are you doing?

Behave yourselves,

I'm still here.

We've finally driven Du Fei off.

Once I become the person-in-charge,

I'll appoint you.

I feel so refreshed

thinking about Sun Li's reaction.

Dalong will send someone to follow up, right?

Will it be you?

I won't go to Zhuhai.

Why?

I'm just an intern.

They won't let me

handle such an important case.

I have never met

such a capable intern.

Lin Wo,

could you explain to me

what you are doing?

Ms. Zheng,

I asked Lin Wo to help me.

I am talking to my assistant.

What does it have to do with you?

Ms. Zheng, it's me who masterminded all things.

Lin Wo has nothing to do with it.

Gao Shan, you don't need to defend me.

Gao Shan?

Your name isn't on

the name list of proposal submission.

That means

you're not one of the candidates.

That's right.

That means it's you who made

Su Yuan's proposal.

Why?

Ms. Zheng,

Gao Shan is the employee of Most Sky.

It's just that we didn't manage

to add his name in the list.

I'm sorry, Su Yuan.

I don't think you're suitable to lead

this case.

I'm asking you the question,

answer me.

Because I don't want to

remain at the bottom.

I need a chance to prove my capability.

It's good to be ambitious.

But I don't like ambitious people,

especially those

who are unscrupulous like you.

They are the employees of Most Sky.

You have no right to criticise them.

Lin Wo,

I have no idea of your relationships.

But you must remember

that you work for Dalong.

Whatever you choose,

you must put Dalong's interests first.

I am doing this

exactly for the sake of Dalong.

I know Sun Li

better than you do.

And I know how capable Gao Shan is.

I think he's

the right choice for Dalong.

The candidates to do the follow-up work

will be chosen by both companies.

You have no say in it.

It seems that your experience in Fangda

didn't do you much good.

Lin Wo,

I am very disappointed at you.

You confronted your boss like this.

But she didn't sack you.

You really get a good background.

I wish she'd fire me.

I thought of using this chance

to turn the tables.

It turns out to be nothing.

Gao Shan,

I guess you have to remain in the printing room

for some more time.

Gao Shan,

you have no right to fall in love,

before you can defeat Qin Shengsheng.

Don't worry,

I won't let Zheng Wanying

get you in trouble.

No,

maybe you should live for yourself for once.

What?

Is there something on my face?

Lin Wo,

I...

I...

What?

What are you doing?

You do know

I didn't mean to do it.

Don't look at him,

I asked him to tell me.

Why you didn't pick up my calls?

I've heard that you're having a competition.

And Lin Wo's involved in it.

Is it related with Dalong?

Dinghe is the rival of Most Sky.

I don't think it's good to tell you too much.

Got it.

I bumped into Zheng Wanying just now.

She's bossy as always.

Come with me.

What are they doing? So mysterious.

They don't want us to hear.

I haven't told them

who my father is.

You're still hiding it from them?

Are you afraid Gao Shan will use you

to get promoted through the Dalong's project.

I'm kidding.

You're too serious.

But I'm telling you,

you'll work in Dalong for months.

I don't think you can hide it from them.

I'll tell them someday.

It's just that I haven't figured out

how to explain

my relationship with Qin Shengsheng.

I don't want to

have anything to do with him.

Suit yourself,

I'll just go along with you, okay?

They're coming.

Let's go,

Sun Li asked to see us now.

He has probably received the news.

We'll be scolded again.

What were you chatting about?

Gao Shan,

I've been thinking of

telling you something.

-Gao Shan! -Actually, I...

How despicable!

You set me up!

Just come at me!

Why are you messing with him?

Stop being snobbish

just because you've climbed the ladder.

Du Fei,

you can refuse to admit being defeated

But you should at least keep your posture.

Everyone

has to save his face.

Saving face?

If you hadn't courted

the daughter of Dalong's boss,

I wouldn't have been defeated by you.

How dare you talk about saving face.

Who is the daughter of Dalong's boss?

Stop pretending.

It's her,

Lin Wo!

She's the only child of

Dalong's chairman, Qin Shengsheng!

You knew it all along.

If not, why did you secretly help her?

Gao Shan.

You're truly capable

that you managed to seduce Qin Shengsheng's daughter.

Why are you still in the Most Sky

competing with us?

Ms. Lin,

you need to make it clear

and look carefully.

What does this man standing before you want?

Gao Shan.

Aren't you only interning in Dalong?

Why do you know Dalong

and Zheng Wanying so well?

You even know about the details.

I'm curious too.

It's my habit.

The way I see things

is different from yours.

Gao Shan.

Is it true?

I can explain.

Gao Shan!

How come he's so mad?

Lin Wo.

Lin Wo, don't be upset.

I'm sure Gao Shan...

I'm sure he's tired for working overtime.

He's lost his mind.

I didn't mean to hide it from him.

No, you...

Shouldn't you head back?

Come on.

I'll stop asking.

I'll stop asking, okay?

Leave before I count to three.

One.

Two.

It's no big deal.

Don't worry.

I saw that look on Gao Shan's face.

He seemed to be mad for real.

It's strange indeed.

Judging from his personality,

even if you were a tribal chief's daughter,

he'd probably be calm.

Maybe...

What's it?

Nothing, it's nothing serious.

Hello?

Dear,

I'm sorry.

I need to head back to the company.

Lu Dong is up to something again.

I might not be home tonight.

Take good care of yourself.

It's her,

Lin Wo!

She's the only child of

Dalong's chairman, Qin Shengsheng!

But the money was earned

through hard work of my employees.

How are they supposed to live now?

How am I supposed to live?

Gao, please don't complain to me about that!

If I didn't withdraw the money,

you'd take me down with you!

Qin. Please don't go.

Qin.

Qin. Help me one last time!

I beg you, help me!

Sorry, the number...

Is it true?

I can explain.

Hello?

Have you reached Gao Shan?

Sun Li was so angry

at Gao Shan's absence.

I'm worried he'd figure out a way

to get Gao Shan in trouble again.

Not yet.

I'll try to call him again.

Sure, let's keep in touch.

Okay.

Lin Wo

Gao Shan,

the chance falls on you.

Do you think of retreating?

Hello?

Hello, Gao Shan. You finally picked up my call.

Where are you?

I'm home.

Okay.

I'll take you out at about seven.

No need...

That's right.

It's better to talk face-to-face.

The poaching of a headhunt led to the suicide of an employee of Most Sky.

Hello, Siyang.

What's it?

I'd like you to help me investigate someone.

No problem.

Who?

Lin Wo.

Gao Shan, what happened to your hand?

Sit still.

Where are we going?

You're driving too fast.

It's not safe.

It's so beautiful here.

It's been a long time since I moved here.

Yet I didn't know about this place.

I've been always used to living in

my own world.

Even though it's cold and dark,

at least it's safe.

But I recently felt that

it's quite good to have a companion.

That's what I thought

until this afternoon.

Gao Shan,

I didn't mean to hide it from you.

But you did hide it from me.

Why did you do so?

Were you scared that

I'd take advantage of you

like what Du Fei said?

No.

Then why?

Give me an answer.

I remember I once told you

about my parents.

Ever since I was a child, my father and I

have never been on good terms.

My parents lived separately

when I was small.

My mother then brought me

to Guangzhou.

From then on,

my life has nothing to do

with him anymore.

If it hadn't been for

the surgery fee for Mr. Wan,

I wouldn't have gone back and begged him.

Zheng Wanying has given me five hundred thousand yuan,

on condition that

I must work for Dalong

for five months.

I didn't say it because I thought

there's no need to do so.

I don't want to have anything to do

with Qin Shengsheng anymore.

I thought when it's all over,

everything would get back on track.

But my negligence

has caused you trouble.

I'm sorry.

The contract was just an excuse.

Mr. Qin just tried to

keep you by his side.

That's just his wishful thinking.

I'm the only master of my life.

That means

you're not planning to take over your family business

and Dalong?

Dalong has a lot of assets.

Do you really want to let it go?

It belongs to Qing Shengsheng.

It has nothing to do with me.

You seem

to dislike your father very much.

I don't dislike him.

I just hope that we'll have

nothing to do with each other.

But you're the only one who can harm him.

What are you talking?

Nothing.

It's cold here in the mountain.

Let's get back.

You...

You're really not mad at me anymore?

Everyone has their own past.

You respect me. And I respect you.

Also, I have no right to dig into it.

Then why were you so mad?

Why was I angry?

Don't you know that?

I'm heading back home.

Sanitise your hand when you get home.

Good night.

Did you get the information?

Didn't you say

that you've found it?

How cruel you are.

It has been a long time since we last met.

Don't you want to catch up?

Sure.

How are you doing lately?

You're not sincere at all.

I refuse to answer.

Okay, I'll stop messing around.

I've brought you

the information you wanted.
