Mermaid Prince Episode 9

That’s how athletes tie it,

then you won’t get hurt.

A careless girl like you

should learn it.

Got it?

Okay, got it.

Okay.

Fenfen, water is here.

Fenfen?

I thought that I could help them.

Who’d know that Professor Cui refused me right away.

Maybe we can change a way

and directly go to Fenfen.

-I guess that’s the only way. -Yeah.

Isn’t that Fenfen? Fenfen!

Fenfen.

It’s you again, what on earth do you want?

Where are you going alone?

It’s not your business.

Can you stop tangling me all the time?

You came out alone with backpack.

Professor Cui doesn’t know you’re out, right?

He must be looking for you now.

He only cares about his report anyway.

He left me at the hospital for treatment.

I don’t want to

stay here alone by myself.

You’ve seen it anyway,

he only cares about work

but me.

I should just leave here sooner.

I see, Fenfen.

Since you don’t want to be back to town,

you can come with us

to the resort.

You happened to left something important there.

We were looking for you to get it.

You don’t have things to do alone,

why not just come with us?

Why is my paining here?

We found it on the beach.

We wanted to give it back to you,

but it’s just too good.

So I put it here as display

without your permission.

You wouldn’t mind, would you?

You’re back.

A customer kept asking if

he can communicate with the painting’s owner.

Did you hear that, Fenfen?

You’re really talented.

Even if you’re sick,

your talent shouldn’t be neglected.

So what I have talent?

I’m dying.

I can’t paint for long.

Don’t you say that.

Think about it, how many people on the news

that were diagnosed as cancer,

but they fought it back successfully.

As long as you have faith and don’t give up.

There’s still a chance.

Muxin is correct.

Besides, one’s life can’t

be evaluated by length.

But more importantly to live a life,

enjoy every day of your life.

Don’t hold regrets.

Just like your paintings,

they can prove your life is more meaningful than others.

Here, Mr. Zheng.

Here’s the painter.

-Hello. -Miss Fenfen.

Miss Fenfen, this gentleman

admires every single one of your work.

So, he’d like to buy for collection.

I’m not a painter.

These are my random drawings.

I don’t intend to sell, either.

Hi, you’re very modest.

I really admire your works.

How about this? Here’s my card.

Contact me anytime

whenever you change your mind.

Okay, okay.

I’ll take it for her, thanks.

Okay.

Well, Mr. Zheng...

Yeah.

Please, this way.

That’s great, Fenfen.

Seems like many people like your paints.

Fenfen, what’s wrong?

Here.

Drink some water.

Thank you, I feel better now.

I’ll go and check on the customers.

Seriously, Fenfen.

Your works are fantastic.

It’s a personal style with fantasy and imagination.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I’ve read it on a book.

A book?

My dad is keen on archaeology.

He’s always not at home.

I always sneak into the study

and read books when he’s not around.

As time passes,

I’ve grown interests in history.

That’s why I painted them.

Since you’re interested in historic legends.

Why don’t you join your father?

He doesn’t care about me at all.

He only loves working

and left me at home.

It’s not like that, Fenfen.

You dad actually cares much about you.

He probably just doesn’t know

how to show that he cares.

That’s why you got the wrong idea.

If he really does,

he wouldn’t promise me this vacation

but worked all the time instead.

If I have died earlier,

he may have been able to be

more concentrated on his work.

Nonsense!

Fenfen,

if I lose you.

What’s the point of living by myself?

After your mother passed away,

I’ve got no one but you.

You mean

the whole world to me.

That’s just what you say.

You don’t care about me at all.

Fenfen, here’s an idea.

Start from now,

I’ll stop working

and accompany you all the time, okay?

Don’t lie.

That’s just fooling me.

I don’t want any more of your lies.

I...

Fenfen!

Fenfen!

Fenfen! Fenfen!

Mom, I miss you so much.

That’s a good portray of your mother.

How did you know it’s from me?

Actually,

I always check on your Weibo.

That’s my favorite one of your work.

Every time I see it,

it gives me an illusion

as if your mother is still alive.

When your mom was about to die.

I’ve promised her

to take good care of you.

I’ve been working so hard

for you to have the best life.

But I didn’t mean

to neglect you.

Especially that now you’re sick.

I’m so terrified

that you’d leave me here all alone

just like your mom.

So I chose to escape

and not face it.

I buried myself with work.

So that I don’t think about it.

But,

it turned out to be hurting you.

I wasn’t there for you

when you needed the most.

I even let you face it

all alone by yourself.

Fenfen,

it’s all my fault.

It’s all my fault.

Dad.

Fenfen.

Can you give me another chance

to take care of you?

To compensate and accompany you.

I won’t let you feel

lonely anymore.

Okay?

Yeah, Fenfen.

Your father really loves you.

Just give him another chance.

I believe that’s what you mother

would want, too.

Muxin,

the hotel voucher.

Right.

Here are you,

a hotel voucher of the resort.

Just stay here for a few days.

To make up for what you’ve missed.

But Fenfen still needs the treatment.

Fenfen just got out of hospital,

keep her in the resort for a few days

is actually gonna help her relax.

Yeah, the summer resort

is a

good place for relaxing.

If you’re relaxed,

your body will be healthier, too.

Thank you, dad.

Great.

Good luck.

Muxin.

Be careful. Your hand is still injured.

Don’t worry. I got this.

What is this?

Wow! After all the searching,

here’s a mermaid right in the pool.

Look, Jiang Ze.

I found...

I told you to be careful.

Hey, look,

I caught a mermaid.

You’re charming when you smile.

I’m always wild and unruly.

I have no charm.

Muxin, have you had an answer

to my question?

What question?

I’m willing to do anything for you.

Can I

be your boyfriend?

Oh, that?

I’ve been busy helping Fenfen

and haven’t got time to consider.

Can you give me a few more days?

I didn’t plan to

pour my heart out to you that day,

but it felt right to do so.

I couldn’t

wait any longer.

Did I scare you?

I was indeed surprised.

I know I was abrupt,

but I’m serious.

I won’t give up

until you say yes.

Thanks to you,

Fenfen had a great time.

Thank you all.

No big deal.

We also had a lot of fun

because of you.

I drew these postcards

featuring you and the resort.

Here you are.

Fenfen.

Look.

Your drawing is fantastic!

I’ve told my dad

that after I recover,

I’ll learn from you to help others.

Fenfen, you’ve been helpful enough.

Your drawing

has great healing power.

Correct.

Your drawings are so popular.

Muxin,

this may help you understand mermen better.

I want you to have it.

Really?

I’ve spent most of my life

searching for valuable relics,

but nothing is more important

than having my daughter back.

Just keep this.

Take it as a thank you gift.

Thank you, Professor Cui.

I’ll cherish it.

Professor, Fenfen,

you’re always welcome

to come back.

We certainly will.

Once Fenfen is healthy enough,

we’ll come back

and help you clean the beach.

See you then.

That’s great!

Alive mermen have been discovered.

This notebook is a treasure,

a mermen encyclopedia, to be accurate!

“According to my research,

mermen’s strong sixth sense

enables them to communicate with animals.

That’s yet to be confirmed”.

Communicate with animals?

Can mermen really do that?

They make a perfect couple though.

Jimmy, you understand what I said?

Professor Cui gave me his notebook today.

I can talk to animals for real?

A few days ago, a mouth-to-mouth touch

-That must be a coincidence. -was given on a suspected merman

but to no avail.

Maybe there’s something in this notebook

that can facilitate the transformation.

Attention, ten o’clock to the tower,

two injured swimmers

need immediate rescue!

Assess the condition

and decide on the treatment.

Mouth is cleared.

Breathing and pulse

are normal.

Jellyfish is found on the limbs.

The victims must be stung.

I’ll go get saline.

Go. Be quick.

The swimsuit.

Be careful. Don’t touch the sting

or more poison will be released.

Got it.

Muxin.

This side. Come here.

Good.

You’ve all passed the test.

-Test? -Test?

This is your last day of training.

And that

is your final test.

What?

Captain, do you know how nervous

we were just now?

If I didn’t make it look real,

how could I examine you?

So all that is fake?

Unbelievable!

Captain.

Do you mean we’ve all passed?

Your first aid was performed correctly.

And you worked well as a team.

Congratulations!

All of you are officially hired!

Don’t be too excited.

Your employment

is well-deserved,

but it comes with great responsibility.

Starting today,

you’re responsible

for this beach.

Be devoted

and dedicated

to committing to humanitarianism!

Understand?

-Yes. -Yes.

Disinfection is done.

Finish your last patrol and call it a day.

Don’t forget to fill in the rescue log.

Got it.

And thanks.

For what?

Thanks to your calmness,

we passed Captain’s surprise test

successfully.

Don’t mention it.

Teamwork is key

to a successful rescue.

Oh wow!

Did you just say “teamwork”?

Looks like you’ve matured.

Back in the swimming team,

I was on my own.

After what happened to Fenfen,

I’ve realized

only one cannot do so much.

Us working together to save lives

is completely different from

winning a competition.

I agree.

At first, I joined the rescue team

to search for mermen.

But now, I understand how great

lifesaving is.

Great minds do think alike.

But your search continues.

That doesn’t contradict

my role as a lifeguard.

Look, I tied my shoes

the same way you taught me.

If you still couldn’t do it,

there’s nothing else I could say.

Don’t be sarcastic. I just praised you.

Couldn’t you say something nice?

You asked the wrong person. Go to your boyfriend.

Boyfriend?

There he is.

Come on! He isn’t my boyfriend.

I’ll leave you guys alone.

You...

This way, you won’t be sunburned.

Thank you, Jiang Ze.

Hey,

during my morning jog,

I heard

someone had discovered strange murals

near the north outlet.

Murals?

Their description

fits the mermen’s totem.

Really?

If you’re interested,

tomorrow is my day off,

we can go have a look.

That’s great.

Thanks.

Weird.

Where are the shoes I bought earlier?

But...

Stand straight.

Are you a kid who can’t tie your shoes?

What’s wrong with me?

Why do I keep thinking of him?

Muxin,

this came for you.

I signed it on your behalf.

Fish Scales Identification Report

You mean only my fingerprints

are found on this scale?

Yes, haven’t you read the report?

It’s full of jargon.

I don’t understand a word.

Wang Hui, can you explain it to me?

Alright, back to business.

There is something else

on that scale.

Xida’s DNA?

No.

The lab found traces of mud

containing residue of heavy metal.

So it’s most likely to be polluted.

Polluted?

It occurred to me that

a few years ago, the north outlet to Xingyue Bay

was polluted by heavy metal.

It was all over the news.

Perhaps the scale came from there.

Good. You’ve found a lead.

Thanks.

I’ll treat you to dinner.

Hold on.

Don’t you have something else

to share with me?

Like what?

How are things between you and him?

An Xida?

Nothing much happened.

He’s mean

and arrogant,

but he can be sweet, too.

Who cares about him?

I mean Jiang Ze.

Jiang Ze...

That look tells me something is going on.

Be honest with me.

Is there chemistry between you and An Xida?

Hell no!

He’s a rude alpha male.

Well...

Occasionally, he gave me special training.

Go, go, go!

He helped me tie my shoes.

But...

Stand straight.

Are you a kid who can’t tie your shoes?

How could I...

not like him?

So you do have a thing for him?

I’m not sure.

I keep thinking of him

when I sleep, when I eat...

am I in love with him?
