Marry Me

Episode 33

Take him away.

-Come. -Come.

This time,

you didn't not disappoint.

Ding Sheng wanted to see Long Teng.

So I obliged...

and included Long Teng

Lord Shu, I suggest you...

take the opportunity to take out the Long family.

Xiao Bao.

Mother.

Am I still your son?

You will always be my son.

And me and your father...

will always be your dear ones, alright?

Feng Wu!

Let's go. There's no time.

Young Master Yue has prepared a secret tunnel for us to escape.

Okay.

Move aside.

What's this about?

Move aside.

Your Majesty should know by now...

who the real enemy is.

Shu Bo.

I am standing here.

And you dare barge into Long Residence with your troops.

Have you no respect?

Your Majesty.

I had no idea you were here. Sorry for intruding.

I'm here to arrest a criminal.

May I ask that you leave?

Wouldn't want you to get mixed up with the Longs' shenanigans,

would we?

Guards.

Shu Bo is outright rebelling. Seize him!

Your Majesty, save your breath.

Your men are now under my control.

I'm here on the Emperor's orders.

No one can stop me.

Guards, escort the crown prince out.

-Your Majesty, this way. -This way.

Lord Shu, tell me.

What crimes have we committed...

that got you so worked up?

You and Ding Sheng are suspected...

of buying and selling a government post.

If proven, it'd be a mockery of the court...

and an act of corruption.

The Long family's eldest son, Long Teng,

despite being the commander of Wujin Guards,

abused his office to cover up his brother's crime,

breaking into the prison to silence a witness. The evidence is rock solid.

Lies!

Whether they are lies or not...

is up to the Emperor.

Guards.

Take him away.

My lord, besides Long Yue,

there is no one else inside.

Take a few men and pursue them.

Kill any resisters.

Yes, my lord.

Hurry.

Retreat!

Father!

Xiao Bao.

Are you guys okay?

Let's go.

-Xiao Bao, come. -Let's go.

Move it.

Come on.

Kneel.

Kneel.

My lord, when we arrived,

Li Ke was helping the Longs escape.

We've captured the remaining members.

Long Yue.

Let's see how...

you're going to save all your people.

Master.

I've failed you!

Shu Bo.

You said it yourself.

We're only suspects.

Let's go by the book, shall we?

What's the meaning...

of rummaging my house?

I'm the one making...

the rules now.

You lot have defied royal decree.

Death is the only punishment.

Take me on if you wish.

But leave my family out of it.

How about a deal, Lord Shu?

Give me all you've got.

If I somehow survive,

could you please...

spare my family and my servants?

You're practically asking for death.

That's Young Master Yue you're talking to.

He's afraid of no death!

Very well. I'll grant you your wish.

The Long family has let me down big time.

I trusted the brothers completely.

To think they've been wearing a mask,

betraying my kindness.

Are you sure, Your Majesty?

For three generations, they've been loyal citizens.

I just don't get it.

Why would they do such a thing?

Your Majesty, Ju Mu'er seeks an audience with you.

She says it's important.

Something about the royal bloodline.

Guards!

Ju Mu'er is a Long. She's an accomplice.

Take her away and cane her to death.

Not so fast.

Let her come in.

Yes.

Greetings to the Emperor, the Empress Dowager...

and Noble Consort.

There's something about the royal bloodline...

that you wish to tell me?

Absolutely.

And what would that be?

If you utter a word of falsehood, not even I could save you.

Your Majesty, Empress Dowager.

The royal bloodline still lives on.

Years ago, the maidservant Ji Yan,

with the Emperor's blessing,

had borne two princes.

Xiao Bao of the Long family...

is the only remaining son of the Emperor.

-What did you say? -What?

Preposterous.

If an heir were indeed born in the palace,

how could the Emperor have not known?

Guards!

Let her continue.

Your Majesty.

Empress Dowager.

Throughout the years,

many concubines have been blessed with the Emperor's offspring,

only to have them die in their wombs.

That's why the harem hasn't produced an heir to this day.

I...

kept it a secret...

in order to protect the prince's life.

Unfortunately,

I was only able to save Xiao Bao.

Young Master Yue...

Don't move.

I have 20 more moves.

If you beg for your life right now,

I just might spare you.

-Master! -Don't move.

If I'm going to die,

it'll be with dignity.

Young Master Yue,

your camaraderie with your servants is most touching.

Perhaps I have misjudged you.

But is your life...

worth sacrificing for a bunch of nobodies?

A cold-blooded animal like you...

would never understand.

Enough talk.

Let's fight.

Let me go.

Young Master Yue!

-Young Master Yue! -Young Master Yue...

Ten more moves to go.

You're out of your depth.

Master!

-Stay still. -Shu Bo!

I'll take you on!

Master!

I expected more from the second young master of the Long family.

To think that...

the high commander of the Wujin Guards would have such a weakling of a brother.

We had a deal.

You were supposed to take a hundred blows from me.

But now...

Let me go.

Master!

Shu Bo! Face me if you can!

Let me go.

Master!

-Young Master... -Young Master...

Young Master.

Young Master...

Come at me!

Young Master Yue.

Young Master Yue...

Young Master Yue...

Young Master Yue...

Love and Solidarity

Halt! Who goes there?

Prosperous Family

Royal Decree

What's going on here?

Young Master,

I've unleashed a hundred blows.

Just give up.

Your big brother is in the prison, all worried about you.

I'll cut off your head now...

and put his worry to rest.

Long Yue!

Young Master Yue!

Kun

It's my fault as the eldest brother...

for not protecting my family.

I, Long Teng,

have failed my ancestors.

Long Teng.

Don't be hard on yourself.

Shu Bo is behind all of this.

Even Lord Ding's death...

was part of their ploy.

The powers that be are looking into the case.

The truth will come to light soon.

As for what he's done to our family,

I'll make him pay in spades.

Long Fei.

This is a delicate situation.

Don't be impulsive.

I've asked Xiao Liu to find out the true cause of Ding Sheng's death.

We'll have a breakthrough soon.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has begun investigations...

to ascertain Long Bao's identity.

Feng Wu and you...

must ensure the Long family's safety.

Especially Xiao Bao's.

Long Teng.

I don't think the Shus would dare to act brazenly.

Nevertheless,

I'll settle the score with them.

Long Teng!

Long Teng!

Long Teng,

are you okay? Did they hurt you?

What are you doing here?

I'm sick of you Shus' deceptive ways.

Spare us the false sympathy.

Sorry.

I didn't know it would turn out this way.

Long Teng,

are you mad at me, too?

I admit,

it was my family's fault.

But I wasn't in on their schemes.

The fact that I'm here...

proves that my conscience is clear.

Long Teng.

Don't you know...

I'm the last person in the world who'd want this to happen?

Long Teng.

Do you really want to sever our relationship...

over this matter?

I want nothing to do with your love affair.

Nor do I want to be in the presence of a Shu.

Long Teng.

I'll take my leave.

Long Teng, I don't care what other people say.

I only want an answer from you.

In this life,

I'm afraid we're not meant to be.

Alright.

I understand.

I, Ruo Chen,

will not disturb you again.

Take care.

I'm sorry.

Long Residence

How's Young Master Yue doing?

He's severely wounded,

yet he refuses anyone's care.

When will he recover?

The physician said he's lucky enough to survive.

If not taken good care of,

he may develop lifelong complications.

Right now,

he's just in a bit of denial.

Hence his refusal to accept help.

What did the physician propose?

There's no quick remedy for broken bones.

Only time will heal it.

For an arrogant man like him,

such a crushing defeat...

must have taken a toll on his ego.

Only you can mend his broken spirit.

As for the case,

Long Yue had sought the crown prince's involvement.

But now that the prince is grounded,

the whole of Long family might be in danger.

It was a deliberate move on Young Master Yue's part...

to bring the crown prince around.

That way, Yun Qing Xian would have one less supporter.

And our chances against him would be higher.

But to accomplish that,

Young Master Yue paid a huge price.

Let's hope everything turns out well.

I could hear you ladies gossiping about me a mile away.

Fear not.

My leg will be good as new.

There's no need to worry.

Of course not. The capital's number one merchant is no slouch.

But why did you come out here instead of resting?

I was bored and wanted to get some air.

That's right.

Some exercise...

and fresh air...

will do you plenty of good.

Rest assured.

Whether it's family matters...

or business matters,

just name it.

Long Fei and I will take care of it.

Thanks for the help.

Shu Residence

What is it that you want exactly?

It's simple.

An opportunity...

to lay my vengeance upon the Long family.

Lord Shu,

what do you mean?

Long Bao's lineage...

will be put under heavy scrutiny.

Right now,

the Emperor's already taking precautions against the Shus,

sending men to spy on us.

My each and every move...

is being watched by the Emperor.

I've personally trained the Kun Palace Secret Guards.

They're my acolytes.

With this badge...

lies their allegiance.

I'm counting on you to make use of them from now on.

Lord Yun,

don't disappoint...

the Noble Consort and I.

Our family's mishap...

must have put Ms Shu in a tough spot.

I believe...

Ms Shu's love for Long Teng is true.

They'll pull through somehow.

I hope so.

Xiao Bao is safe for the time being,

but there's no telling what might happen.

This item...

is the key evidence in testifying against Yun Qing Xian.

You must safeguard it...

until it reaches the Emperor.

Don't worry.

The Supreme Court had just served a notice.

Three days from now, at the Golden Palace,

the case will be tried in front of the Emperor.

With His Majesty's supervision,

nothing can go wrong.

My master and all the other innocent souls...

can finally rest in peace.

Mu'er,

no matter what happens in the future,

I hope you will understand me.

Are you worried about the trial's outcome?

At this point,

I believe His Majesty will make a fair verdict.

As for us,

Mu'er and Long Yue,

we'll be together in life and death.

Ding Sheng's Spirit Tablet Ding Yan Xiang's Spirit Tablet

Father.

Sister.

Forgive me.

When you were alive,

I didn't honour you.

Now,

both of you are wrongfully dead.

But the tables are starting to turn against the Shus.

I guarantee...

Shu Bo and that traitorous dog Yun Qing Xian will get their just deserts.

I'll make them pay with their lives.

Who is it?

It's me, Sheng.

Shan'er.

Take it easy.

It's been worrisome not hearing from you for days.

So I asked Sheng to take me to you.

By the way,

Sheng just told me something.

I was at the prefecture office.

Word has it that...

on the day your father died,

Lord Long had visited him.

There's also this prison guard.

Interestingly,

he was the only guard on duty at the time.

And it wasn't even his shift.

I couldn't find out anything beyond that.

The prefecture office is hot on the case.

That guard is very suspicious.

No matter who his puppet-master is,

as long as we catch him,

the truth will be revealed.

Mu'er,

don't you worry.

Ever since my father's death, I haven't suspected the Longs one bit.

I know the three brothers' character well.

So do me a favour...

and tell them...

there's no hard feelings.

I know his death...

must have been Shu Bo and Yun Qing Xian's dirty work.

They're only putting the blame on Long Yue...

to get rid of an adversary.

Shan'er, rest assured.

The Emperor himself is overseeing the case.

He won't let Yun Qing Xian,

Shu Bo or any the scoundrels get off Scot free.

Xiao Bao, where's your father?

Father went out early in the morning to patrol.

He didn't tell you for fear of waking you up.

He didn't even take breakfast.

Let's go out and have a look.

We'll ask Father to come back for breakfast.

You mean it? We can go out?

Don't worry.

You're safe in Mother and Father's hands.

Great.

-Come. -Let's go get Father.

Where are you two going?

It's dangerous outside. Stay in.

You've been patrolling all morning.

You hadn't even slept last night.

Father, have some food. Don't starve yourself.

Good boy.

As long as you're safe,

it's all worth it.

This place is remote enough as it is.

Besides, with all your comrades...

keeping watch, we should be fine.

Get some rest and eat some food.

No use keeping Xiao Bao safe...

when you're broken down.

But I mustn't relax.

Yun Qing Xian is a cunning man.

I should be vigilant.

If you're really worried,

we could take turns patrolling.

Get some sleep first.

Once you're refreshed, I'll go.

-Feng... -Father, Mother.

Quit arguing.

I want both of you to stay with me.

We might not get the opportunity in the future.

Alright.

I'll stay right here with you.

Eat.

Eat.

Jiayi Palace

Never mind.

You don't have to bow given the state you're in.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Before the trial,

I'm not supposed to see...

anybody involved in the case.

But I trust in your character.

I'd very much like to hear what you have to say.

I've come today...

for one person.

Get straight to the point.

I'd like to request an edict.

My dear.

Why did you come here again?

Mu'er.

When I'm gone,

please take care of yourself.

What's this silliness about?

I've asked Li Ke to make the necessary arrangements.

He'll take you to your father's house.

Afterward...

you won't have to come back.

Why?

I'm your wife.

Where will I go if I don't stay by your side?

Since the day we got into this mess,

I've been losing sleep over your safety.

Every time I think about the family being sentenced to death,

I'm filled with apprehension.

So this time, I'm leaving you out of this.

Otherwise,

I'd never be able to forgive myself.

Long Yue, you can't be so selfish.

Have you asked me before you made that decision?

Shouldn't husband and wife share weal and woe?

I refuse.

It doesn't matter if you accept it or not.

I've requested an edict from the Empress Dowager.

Her Majesty has decreed...

our separation.

What did you say?

Young Master Yue,

whatever happens,

we can face it together.

Just like we always did.

Why are you so cruel this time round?

Young Master Yue.

You have no say in this.

Li Ke.

Yes.

Escort Mrs Long.

My dear,

please.

Mrs Long,

please.

Mrs Long, forgive me.

Mrs Long...

Please come away with me.

Mrs Long, listen to Young Master.

Mrs Long...

Li Ke,

make sure she gets to the house by sundown.

I'm sorry, Mu'er.

Once the dust settles...

and the Long family is in the clear,

I will come back for you.

After all Mu'er's done for us,

how could you be so heartless?

Mu'er must be devastated by what you've done to her.

Long Yue,

I just don't get it.

Why would you do that?

Cool it.

I'm sure Mu'er...

understands his difficulty.

Not even I could accept it, let alone Mu'er!

You're wrong about Long Yue.

He did it all for Mu'er's sake.

The Emperor is as dangerous as a tiger.

Once Xiao Bao's identity is confirmed,

we'll be in a more precarious situation.

How so?

If Xiao Bao turns out to be royalty,

we'd be commended.

What's so precarious about that?

Did you forget...

what Long Bao used to call us before he moved to the palace?

Mother and Father of course.

And what about Long Teng and Long Yue?

Well...

He called them uncle, didn't he?

Now, how can the Emperor...

allow his heir to have...

such a close relationship with an official's family?

I admit, it was selfish of me.

But that was the only way to keep Mu'er out of harm's way.

The Long family is already in shambles.

I can't let anything happen to Mu'er.

Don't look at me like that.

I was the one who brought Xiao Bao here.

I won't abandon him or any of you.

Everything...

will be revealed tomorrow.

The Empress Dowager fears for Xiao Bao's safety...

and wants to fetch him personally.

Expect trouble along the way to the palace.

We must be careful.

Take care, Mrs Long.

Did Li Ke have to be so rough?

Long Yue,

you're treating me as an outsider.

Am I so undependable in your eyes?

I will never forgive you.

Father, I...

Mu'er.

You're finally here.

I've been expecting you.

Why are you here?

Where's my father?

After all you've been through,

you haven't changed one bit.

Aren't you tired...

of defying fate?

Tell me, where's my father?

Don't worry.

Your father is safe and sound.

But tomorrow,

I can't guarantee what will happen...

to your dear father.

Do you think you can get away with it?

Listen good,

if any harm comes to my father,

even if I die,

I'll take you down to hell with me.

Am I really that detestable to you?

Your father's survival...

lies in your hands.

Weren't you all high and mighty?

Let's see if your father's life...

is worth your cooperation.

Just name it.

What are your terms?

I want it back.

Knowing you,

if I hand the jade pendant over,

my father would surely die.

I'm only taking back what is rightfully mine.

If your father is hurt,

it'd be thanks to you.

Don't you lay a finger on him!

Remember,

this is your last chance.

If I don't receive the item I asked for...

before court opens tomorrow,

don't blame me for being ruthless.

Father...

Don't worry.

I won't let any harm come to you.

Here they come.

I guess it can't be helped.

You go first. Me and the brothers will cover you.

Kun

Got it?

I'm counting on you.

Miss.

What are you doing here?

What's going on?

Tonight,

a disaster will break out.

You'll die if you just sit here.

I've told Xiao Liu. He'll be waiting for you outside.

Time is running out. You have to go now.

No.

I can't go.

You...
