Marry Me

Episode 2

Young Master Yue.

Search carefully, everyone.

-Yes! -Yes!

-Check the other side. -Yes!

Long Teng!

What are you looking for?

I can give it to you

You...

Look at your troops,

causing such a fracas.

My guests ran away because of you!

Why didn't you bring your troops to the World's Best Inn?

I don't remember seeing...

any guests here.

How can you say that about our family's business?

Instead of helping us,

you made things worse.

Are you Zhu Fu's brother or mine?

Do you care about anything besides money?

No.

Long Teng,

if I hadn't taken over the family business,

how could we have afforded...

Long Fei.

Look, Long Fei is a failure.

Long Teng, you work for the government and you earn peanuts.

Can you sustain our family?

Listen to you talking back to me.

Who is the eldest brother here?

Long Teng, you give us protection...

while Long Yue makes the money.

I'm really grateful.

-Shut up. -Shut up.

I received information that...

Last night, Lord Shi came to visit Shi Bo Yin.

Any idea what that was about?

I don't know.

Even if I do,

I won't give out...

my guests' private information.

Look like I have no choice but to go to the Shi Residence...

and find out the truth.

Listen, you'd better not be disrespectful to me.

Disrespect me and you disrespect the Empress Dowager.

Enjoy it while you can.

Next time,

you'll have to pay me 200 taels.

I know someone who is very suspicious.

Who is that?

Ju Mu'er.

You are right!

I am so angry I didn't think clearly!

When the Empress Dowager was here, she was guarded by Long Yue.

The killer was here because he neglected his duty.

Therefore, the Long family...

should compensate for our loss.

Right? Why don't you crunch the numbers and see how much it is?

Sure.

Long Yue, you are such a profiteer.

I'll make you pay this time.

It's over a thousand taels.

Don't worry.

I am willing to be your witness.

I can't thank you enough.

Your Majesty, Lord Shi Ze Chun is here to see you.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I wonder why you are here.

Reporting to Your Majesty.

Please pardon me.

I am seeking Your Majesty's view on an important matter.

In the past,

-Shi Bo... -Your Majesty.

Consort Shu is here.

Greetings to Your Majesty.

Rise.

Have a seat.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

I hope I didn't come at a bad time...

or interrupted your conversation with Lord Shi.

Lord Shi came to pay his respect as he passed by here.

If you have nothing else to tell me,

you may leave now.

Consort Shu is here because of Shi Bo Yin.

I think I have to give it a try.

Your Majesty.

I have sinned.

I have in my possession a music score from the previous dynasty,

the Fuxi Score.

The Fuxi Score?

It is a relic of the previous emperor of Tang Dynasty.

It is said...

to contain a hidden treasure.

However, none of those who possessed the score...

could decipher its mystery.

Worse, all of them were murdered.

The score that Shi Bo Yin went to great lengths to obtain...

was but a fake copy.

Lord Fu, where did you manage to get the original copy?

I confiscated the score from someone in the black market.

As those who possessed the score were all murdered,

I had kept it in a temple as an offering...

to appease their spirits.

Now, it is ready to be presented to you, Your Majesty.

I fear that Lord Shi has an ulterior motive.

Is it possible that Shi Bo Yin has come back to the capital...

for Fuxi Score?

Everyone knows that Shi Bo Yin is obsessed with the score.

As such, I came here as soon as I could...

to inform Your Majesty about it.

Jinlong Inn

Fuxi Score?

Are you sure?

Long Yue.

The Fuxi Score is no ordinary object.

No wonder Shi Bo Yin risked his life to come back.

He is definitely here for the score.

I think Lord Shi...

is under someone's influence.

He would rather present the score to the Empress Dowager...

than to give it to Shi Bo Yin.

That way, he'll get on the Empress Dowager's good side.

He is killing two birds with one stone.

I didn't know that Lord Shi is such a crafty person.

He is as crafty as you.

However,

since this concerns the Empress Dowager,

Brother Long Fei, prepare some presents.

I'll pay Lord Shi a visit.

Hold on.

Pay for the wine.

You!

Shi Residence

Pass on the Virtues

This is the first time Her Majesty...

pays so much attention to a present given to her.

It seems that Lord Shi is valued by Her Majesty.

I am honoured by Her Majesty's kindness.

I instructed the World's Best Inn to prepare a feast.

Please go inside for a rest.

You're a class act, Lord Shi.

I shall accept your kindness.

After you.

Long Yue!

Lord Zhu, to what...

do I owe this pleasure?

Do you want to feed the fish?

One thousand taels of silver.

No discount will be given.

One thousand taels of silver?

That's how much World's Best Inn had lost.

As the overseer of the meeting,

you're responsible for the damages incurred by the assassin.

I am the witness.

I have witness.

You can't weasel your way out of this.

Ms Ju.

Lord Zhu.

I think you should not ask for the money.

If you take the money,

you might lose your life.

Ms Ju.

That's not what you said just now.

I forgot about one thing.

If someone looks into the matter...

Think about it.

Young Master Yue was in charge of protecting the Empress Dowager.

He may suspect you for colluding with the assassin to murder Her Majesty.

Nonsense!

Lord Zhu.

I don't mind paying the money...

but if we make a big deal out of it...

and if the Emperor knows about this,

I fear that the business of the World's Best Inn would be...

You!

Long Yue!

Don't go too far!

-Do you want to feed the fish? -Lord Zhu!

Long Yue,

if you don't honour your words,

I won't let you off easily!

Ms Ju,

my brother wants to interrogate you.

Come with me to Shi Residence.

Shi Residence

Young Master Yue is here...

to see Lord Shi as previously stated...

in his letter.

Please inform Lord Shi.

Lord Shi said...

he isn't free to see anyone today.

Apologies, Young Master Yue.

Well...

Young Master...

Young Master Yue.

Is that all you can do?

Come with me.

The emperor trumps the warlord.

The kitten catches the mouse.

Young Master Yue.

Besides the presents,

I need another favor.

There's more?

It is not easy to go inside...

the Shi Residence.

Therefore, we need to have two strings to our bow.

First,

send them a letter...

and see if we're invited.

If that doesn't work,

we shall bribe the servant of the Shi Residence...

and enter through the back door.

Long Yue,

are you planning to barge into the Shi Residence...

and steal the score?

I...

just want to copy the score.

I don't intend to steal it.

It's no different from stealing it.

That's why I said...

we need two strings to our bow.

Two hundred taels.

Two hundred taels?

You said one hundred taels.

This is a rip-off!

I had a deal with Young Master Fei.

I will open the door after I have received the money.

Stupid Long Fei.

I'll teach him a lesson.

Young Master Yue.

Do you still want to go inside?

I...

Hold on.

200 taels for one person. 400 taels for two people.

You're obviously trying to rip us off!

Since you are reluctant to pay,

we'll forget about it.

What kind of person are you?

Lord Shi will hear about this!

If you won't let me in,

you should give me a refund.

It's all your fault!

If it weren't for you,

I would have gone in already.

Young Master Yue.

Give me your purse.

What are you doing?

You are the richest man in town. A few hundred of taels is nothing to you.

I don't care about money.

No...

I mean I care about money, but...

But that purse was custom made.

I don't think it is that precious.

I will give you ten purses.

You know nothing about art!

Young Master Yue, I got this.

Give me your hand.

Yours, too.

Do you two want to enter or not?

Come on.

-What are you doing? -What are you doing?

At first, you said one person.

Now, there's two.

If something goes wrong,

I can't bear the responsibility.

Please put up with it.

Both of you shall stick together.

Let's go.

Since we are already here,

let's take a good look around.

Pull the other side.

Go inside.

I am here for my master.

Let's go our separate ways.

We are bound together.

How are we supposed to split up?

Besides,

I spent a fortune...

and risked my life to bring you along.

It's only fair that we look...

for the Fuxi Score first.

Come here!

Hurry up!

Do you really think...

the infamous Fuxi Score...

is hidden in the Shi Residence?

Why did your master come to Shi Residence?

Why did he risk his life coming to the capital?

It's for the Fuxi Score, isn't it?

I have no idea why my master came back to the capital.

However, you, the richest man in town...

are asking me to look for a score.

Is it because you are tone deaf?

Says who?

They are all kept in sacks.

How do I know which one is the Fuxi Score?

Don't waste your effort.

I learned a thing or two about the score from my master.

I am sure the Fuxi Score is not here.

Since it is not here,

you should come with me to look for my master. Let's go!

Well,

according to my keen business sense,

Fuxi Score is here for sure.

Check out...

the ominous-looking layout.

This place has bad feng shui.

Yet Lord Shi made it his study room.

Look at the surroundings.

The talisman of yin-yang and five elements are hung around the room.

It clearly shows that this place has a hidden mystery.

Even if you are right,

I'm not at all interested in the Fuxi Score.

I just want to look for Master.

I want to look for the score.

-Master first. -Score first.

-Master first. -Score first.

-Master first... -Score first...

I...

Let's look for the score!

We found it.

Fuxi Score

Don't block the light.

It's getting late.

I have to go back to the palace to inform Her Majesty of the outcome.

Please hold on.

I shall go get the score.

Assassin!

Assassin?

We...

Pass on the Virtues

This...

Shi Ze Chun!

Give me the Fuxi Score!

Retreat.

Careful not to hurt the innocent.

-Yes. -Yes.

My lord.

You don't even understand it.

Why do you look so engrossed?

I have an extremely good memory.

I don't see anything special about this legendary score.

Are you okay?

Let's leave the room.

Let's go!

What happened?

I am having a headache.

My eyes...

I think the smoke was poisonous.

No, you must see a doctor.

Let's go.

Master!

Mu'er!

Why are you here?

It is a long story.

Ms Ju's eyes are poisoned.

Poisoned?

Lord Shi, please give us the antidote.

You went to the study?

Where is that thing? Is it still in the study?

Leave now!

-I shall leave Mu'er to you. -Okay.

Master!

Aren't you going to listen to your master?

I shall meet up with you after my mission.

-Send her to a doctor now. -Sure.

Let's go.

Shi Residence

What is that noise?

What is that noise?

Yes. You heard it too?

Could this be the legendary Fuxi Tune?

-Bad news! -What is it?

Fire! Fire!

There's a fire. Someone, help...

Look! A fire!

Young Master!

Fire! Help!

Why did a fire occur for no reason?

No, Master is in there.

-I have to save him! -Hey...

Your eyes are poisoned.

The fire will worsen your condition.

If you really respect your master,

you should listen to him and not be hasty.

If you go in there, you'll only get him into more trouble.

Master is still in there.

I must go.

Young Master Yue, I don't want to hold you back.

Alright. I give up.

-Li Ke, inform Long Teng. -Yes!

Master.

What happened, Master?

Don't go near him.

Master.

What are you hiding from me?

-No... -Ms Ju!

-Don't go near him! -No...

Master!

-Let go of me! -Don't go near him!

He...

He...

He...

Lord Shi!

Lord Shi!

My master is not a murderer.

-Tell him... -Don't go near him.

-my master is not a murderer! -Calm down!

-He's not a murderer! -Get a grip.

-Tell him! -Calm down!

-Arrest him. -Yes!

No, my master is not a murderer!

-Don't go near him! -My master is not a murderer!

Master!

Jiayi Palace

To think...

Shi Bo Yin had requested to see me...

in the name of the Datong bloodline...

just so he could use me to obtain the Fuxi Score.

Now,

he has massacred the Shi family.

He has committed a heinous crime.

He is unforgivable!

The case is still open.

There are many doubts yet to be clarified.

It is too early to convict Shi Bo Yin...

of murder.

What?

Are you saying that you have a different view?

With your permission,

I'd like to interrogate Shi Bo Yin myself...

and find out the truth.

Shi Bo Yin unleashed his fury on the Shi family, claiming countless lives.

Many people witnessed it.

How could it be false?

The truth is right before our eyes.

I have heard enough from you.

I have given an order.

The apprentice of Shi Bo Yin, Ju Mu'er will be pardoned.

I have shown enough mercy to them.

The other matters...

will be decided by Shu Bo.

If you have nothing else to say,

you may leave now.

Please reconsider, Your Majesty.

If Shi Bo Yin came only for the Fuxi Score,

he wouldn't have had gone through the trouble...

of meeting Your Majesty outside palace.

He also took extreme precaution in not wanting to let others know.

Besides, who was the culprit who tried to harm you...

during your excursion?

The whole incident is full of doubts.

In other words,

if the case is indeed related to Datong's bloodline,

Shi Bo Yin must have been set up.

The culprit must be trying to silence those in the know.

You are right.

You may continue the investigation.

Yes.

Long Residence

Long Teng!

Say something!

Stop pestering me.

This case is confidential.

Just forget about it.

I disagree with you, Long Teng.

Prior to the incident, I went to the Shi Residence.

I was there when Shi Bo Yin committed murder.

I'm only asking out of concern.

In the past, Consort Shu had a miscarriage because of a song composed by Shi Bo Yin.

She was bereaved of her unborn child.

Upon his return to the capital,

he had committed a massacre...

even before his was cleared of the old charges.

There's no way he can survive.

You should stay out of this.

I understand.

Do you?

Then why do you let Ju Mu'er stay?

I bet she has something to do with it.

Well...

Ms Ju is still in coma due to the poison.

I had to help her.

You worry too much.

It's good enough that you didn't take advantage of her.

You even saved her.

I never knew...

I am such a prick in your eyes.

All this talk about brotherly love...

is nothing but lies.

Don't pull that on me. Anyway,

once Ms Ju wakes up,

send her away as soon as possible.

Don't get yourself into trouble.

Yes, sir.

If she's sick, I'll cure her.

If not, I'll send her away.

She has left.

Young Master Yue, I didn't know you could land like that.

You've taught me something new.

I must have hired a useless doctor.

He told me you might lose your eyesight due to the poison.

But you look so energetic.

Obviously you were not poisoned!

I am doing fine. Thank you for your concern.

By the way,

do you what my master's situation is?

He is suspected of murder...

and was arrested.

It can't be.

There's something fishy going on.

You think so, too?

I have wronged you.

I am surprised you are still willing to trust me.

The truth is still out there.

I must go.

Thank you for saving me.

Hold on.

I shall let the servant prepare some medicine for you.

Drink it before you leave.

Young Master Yue...

is not as bad as I thought.

Ms Ju is leaving.

Why are you still busy writing scores?

She left on her own accord.

It's none of my business.

I went out of my way to save her.

I have done my part as a moral person.

This score is an irreplaceable treasure.

It's destruction is a huge loss for the world.

Fortunately, I have extremely good memory.

Otherwise, many people would lament its loss.

But Long Yue,

Ms Ju got injured stealing the score with you.

How could you let her go?

You know nothing.

Ms Ju got poisoned...

and the doctor said she might lose her eyesight.

Of course, I hope she's fine.

But if something happens to her...

while she stays with us,

can you afford to pay for it?

So it's money you're worried about.

Don't forget...

the Emperor gave Long Teng three days to solve the case,

or he'll suffer corporal punishment.

How could I forget?

I was in such a hurry.

I didn't read the last part.

Long Yue!

Are you listening to me?

Even Long Teng is not worried about it, why do you bother?

As the High Commander of Wujin Imperial Guards,

and the Emperor's right-hand man,

he's made many enemies by scrutinizing the imperial officials.

The Emperor reprimanded him to protect him.

He will be fine.

Just like what Long Teng said,

if we let Ju Mu'er stay,

it will be troublesome.

You brought her back.

You can't forsake her.

I have done my part when I saved her life.

I didn't even charge her for medicine.

Ms Ju, what are you doing here?

Ms Ju, please don't get us wrong.

Long Yue is not a bad person.

Thanks, Young Master Fei. Say no more.

Long Yue cares about people as much as he does money.

When you were in a coma, he...

Quit prattling on.

-No, I... -Shut up!

So, it's the score you're after?

It's no big secret.

There's something you might want to know.

My brother is the High Commander of Wujin Imperial Guards.

No wonder.

We are the only ones who survived the massacre...

yet we weren't examined.

So it was your brother.

Ms Ju, you are leaving, right?

Please.

Fuxi Score is a treasure dedicated to the Empress Dowager, isn't it?

Yet you secretly plagiarized it.

That's a capital offence.

Aren't you scared I might tattle on you?

I don't care if you tell it to the world.

Let's see if the people of the capital...

trust me...

or you.

I'm but a nobody.

Of course you are more reputable.

But have you heard of the saying,

"He who respects not is not respected?"

I wonder how many people in the capital are waiting to humiliate you.

Since you are not afraid,

we'll let the people be the judge.

Don't think you can threaten me.

You were there when we stole the score from the Shi Residence.

No doubt my reputation is important,

but it won't be easily destroyed.

I would lose some business...

but things will be completely different for you.

If the theft of the Fuxi Score...

is tied to the Shi family massacre,

the motive is clear.

In that case,

the blame for the Shi family massacre...

will surely fall upon your master.

Then I will do everything I can...

to prove my master's innocence.

By the way,

you always get the better of other people.

But I promise,

soon you'll come to me begging for help.

If it really comes to that,

I'll be sure to bring gifts...

and get down on my knees.

Kun Palace

I never thought...

you would come back to the capital.

I didn't expect to see you again...

after such a long time.

You shouldn't have come back.

I feel sorry for the tragedy that happened to the Shi family.

Have a cup of wine...

for old time's sake.

Finally you are in my hands.

I have sent someone a long time ago...

to find your whereabouts.

But I didn't expect you...

to fall right into our trap.

Back then,

you used studying fragments of the Fuxi Score...

as an excuse to harm Consort Shu...

and cause her miscarriage.

After a thorough investigation, I found out that she was poisoned!

To my frustration,

I didn't have the proof to convict you...

and the Empress Dowager gave you her full support.

That's why you managed to escape.

Because of you,

Consort Shu...

will never have a child.

-Your Majesty! -My dear!

-Your Majesty! -Your Highness.

Your Highness!

Whatever it takes,

I will make you pay with your life.

You Shus...

are indeed a calculative lot.

This is a gift from Consort Shu.

Long Residence

Young Master, take a look.

Who dares to disturb the peace of our residence?

Li Ke.

Tell me.

Ms Ju egged me on.

She told me to write it.

However, she said you would appreciate these two words.

You idiot!

Did I ever mistreat you?

-You! -No, you didn't.

You claim that you wrote it.

Do you know the meaning behind it?

No, I don't.

So, care to enlighten me?

Shut up.

They're clearly musical notations.

Too bad...

it has ruined two pieces of high quality silk.

I shall deduct it from your salary.

Please let me explain.

Young Master...

Young Master, did you notice something?

This is a composition from the Fuxi Score.

And these two symbols...

are precisely the ones I'm missing.

So Ju Mu'er...

was right.

Long Yue.

What do you want to tell me?

Brother Long Fei.

I have always treated you well.

You can spare me couple of cows and goats, right?

You still haven't returned my ten-thousand-year-old lingzhi.

Now you want to borrow more stuff?

Brother Long Fei.

You're a martial arts practitioner...

who speaks of brotherhood and justice.

And yet...

you won't even help your own brother.

I am so disappointed in you.

Fine.

One cow and two goats.

That is the maximum.

Throw in two chickens and two horses, and we'll call it done.

Li Ke, get ready.

It's time to pay someone a visit.

An important person.

Closed

If you keep sharpening,

the sword will turn into a needle.

You have not rested for the past few days.

You haven't eaten much, either.

Your body won't hold up if you carry on like this.

Stop sharpening. Go eat.

Father.

I know what I am doing.

My dearest daughter.

It is over now.

What can you do?

I am really worried about your stubbornness.

Why didn't you stay at Long Residence a few more days?

The whole town is in danger.

Business in our tavern has gone down.

Can't you give me a peace of mind?

Father, don't you know...

Long Yue is a hypocrite?

He is a crafty guy.

I don't care about that.

Most importantly,

you have to stay away from Shi Bo Yin.

I can't do that.

I must repay my master for all he's done for me.

The only thing that I care about is the safety of my daughter!

Do you treat me as your father?

Father, don't worry.

Before Mother passed away, she has made it clear.

I only have one father.

-I don't have a fake father. -You rascal!

You're still in the mood to crack jokes?

Mr Ju!

I hear...

someone is marching towards your tavern.

See for yourself.

I'm not sure what's going on.
