[The Wolf]

[Episode 13]

About the things that he knows,

I believe that he’s willing to confess.

Because

this is one of the requirements for him not to be convicted.

I’ve said it.

I don’t know

who hire us.

But from three to five tomorrow afternoon, as promised, he will be at

the Mountain God Temple on the south slope to pick up the princess.

In other words, during that period of time,

whoever shows up at the Mountain God Temple

will be the culprit.

Hai Die, Mo Xiao.

Deploy at the Mountain God Temple.

Get ready to take him down.

Yes.

Let’s go.

Thanks for your assistance.

Actually, I’ve been waiting for you to thank me.

I almost

get impatient waiting for it.

You

really speak bluntly.

If I were not,

I wouldn’t shoot that arrow

and you wouldn’t be alive

and stand here to talk to me.

That’s true.

I can see that

we’re of the same kind.

We will fight with all our might

and spare no efforts.

We only knew each other for a few hours.

How would you know?

Previously, you risked your own life

to protect the princess with your body.

People’s virtue

and appearance

are shown the most clearly before their death.

Actually,

I don’t want to die.

I’ve promised him

to return safely.

You don’t want to die?

If it wasn’t for me,

just now you would have been dead twice.

How will you get even with this?

[Owe]

[Owe] Here.

[Owe] Sign this written pledge.

[Owe]

Looks like

you’ve been wanting to earn a favour from me.

I won’t do any losing bargain.

But there’s only the word ’owe’ here.

What do I owe you?

If it’s a guy who owns me,

I will ask him to pay me with money.

If it’s a girl,

she can give me whatever she likes.

You may repay me

with whatever you like.

What about Then the girls you’ve helped back then,

what did they repay you?

Some pleasure moments.

And...

something I can’t tell.

I’m leaving.

How can I find you to repay your favour?

I have the written pledge.

When I want to collect your debt,

I will come to you.

What a weird person.

Princess.

The Princess is feeling better now.

We should send her back to the Palace.

Depart.

Back to the Imperial City.

Yes.

Ma Zhai Xing.

You cover my beautiful face and send me back to the palace sneakily.

Are you pranking me?

Who said that she will obey and follow the one who saved her life?

Princess Bao Na, are you going back on your own words?

Princess Zhai Xing.

Your Majesty.

Please rise.

Princess.

You didn’t let me down.

Your Majesty,

this is not solely my credit.

It’s due to the people in Bo Mansion

and the soldiers sent by Your Majesty.

Hence, I can successfully bring back Princess.

Princess.

Don’t you have something to tell His Majesty?

Your Majesty, please forgive my immature acts.

I burnt the agreement and left without telling anyone.

I’ve caused you trouble.

Please forgive me, Your Majesty.

Your reckless acts

had indeed upset me.

But I won’t seek your compensation.

If I’m looking for compensation, I’ll look for your King.

My Father has promised to borrow his soldiers.

Don’t worry, Your Majesty.

After I returned, I will ask for my Father’s forgiveness.

Princess Ma.

I don’t understand.

Since the Princess has been saved,

why did you stop me from disclosing this?

Do you know that the Prime Minister and others

are still searching for the Princess?

Please forgive me, Your Majesty.

As the culprit that kidnapped the Princess is still unaware that

we’ve rescued the Princess.

Hence, the culprit will most probably follow the original plan.

Tomorrow at 3 pm, the culprit will appear at the Mountain God Temple.

The people of Bo Mansion have set a trap there.

We will catch this culprit for sure.

The culprit,

is he

a mole?

Very wise, Your Majesty.

That’s why the Princess had to enter the Palace in disguise.

It’s difficult to guard against an inside man.

If that so, from tomorrow,

Princess Bao Na shall remain in the Palace.

You mustn’t put yourself in danger.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Princess.

For tomorrow’s operation in catching the mole, I shall send

a capable man to your aid.

Both of you must catch this mole for me.

Yes.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

You may leave.

You may leave with the Princess.

Farewell, Your Majesty.

Ma Zhai Xing.

You’d better not act recklessly, crazily or risk your safety.

Tomorrow, you must return safely.

Do you understand?

This is an order.

Also, I have something to tell you.

You must stay alive for me.

I understand.

By the way, Princess.

There’s one more thing that I need your favour for.

Go on.

I have a deal with your Captain.

If I still haven’t found you by today’s noon,

I will pay with my life.

This man is really a copycat.

He’s rude like me.

Leave this to me.

I’m leaving.

I’m going to the prison to settle the Captain.

I’m here to save you.

The matter that Your Highness bribed us to kidnapped the princess

is going to be found out.

If you don’t believe in me, you can kill me later.

Okay.

It’s you.

How do you know that

the culprit is me?

You poisoned the Princess’s horse and gave yourself away.

Now Bo Mansion is suspecting you.

And I knew your identity

from them.

Then

where is Princess Bao Na now?

She was rescued by them.

What about your other accomplices?

To gain the trust of the people of Bo Mansion,

we killed all of them.

We kind of helped you keep the secret.

I have zero interest in the grudges and conspiracies

of you royalties.

But at that time, your plan is failing.

The people of Bo Mansion are starting to suspect your identity.

That Princess is no longer important.

If I’m not here to inform you,

you...

will be in danger.

Then

why are you helping me?

Ten thousand taels of gold.

I’ll teach you a way to get away with this.

And stay out of the danger.

You can save you life and maintain your father’s trust in you.

What is it?

When I was earning their trust,

I told their mastermind the culprit

will appear at the Mountain God Temple on the south slope tomorrow.

In other words,

you just need to send a scapegoat there.

Yun Mansion

is in charge of the Princess’s Temporary Imperial Palace and horses.

Even if I’ve gotten a scapegoat, first, the motive is unconvincing.

Second, I still can’t get away with this.

But there’s one man

who suits perfectly.

It’s all

up to you, Lord Yun,

if you’re cruel enough.

[Bo Mansion]

Princess.

Everyone is ready.

The horses are ready as well.

We can

go to the Mountain God Temple to catch the culprit at any time.

Before departure,

I have something to say.

What we’re going to face is the culprit.

It isn’t someone easy.

This trip is going to be dangerous.

But when I call to mind that

you’re here to help, I feel relieved.

I have faith that we can rescue Lord Bo.

Princess, don’t worry.

I will always be by your side.

I won’t leave you alone.

We are at your command, Princess.

You’re at the Princess’s command now.

Will you still follow my commands?

Your Highness?

We are at your command, Master.

Prepare your swords.

Get on the horses.

Follow me to catch the culprit.

Yes.

Understood.

Princess.

Let’s go.

What are you doing?

Why are you pulling me?

What are you doing here?

I’m looking at our Princess.

What’s there to look for?

Your Highness.

Won’t your presence

alarm the culprit?

Don’t worry.

I have a replacement in the prison.

Brother Bo, I will reflect on my wrongdoings.

I finally have the chance

to gift this perfumed sachet to you in person.

This journey

is full of ups and downs.

I will cherish this.

Later during the arrest of the culprit,

you mustn’t stay away from me.

I will stay close by your side

to keep you safe.

But His Majesty said that he’s sending you to help me

catch the culprit.

Listen to me.

This is the sword that you often use.

Lord Bo, please protect us.

Wen Yan, do make a guess.

Who will be

the culprit?

Since it’s an inside man,

then it should be someone that we know.

Wait here.

Those swordsmen should be arriving soon.

After we picked up Princess Bao Na, kill all

the swordsmen.

Yes.

Prime Minister.

Looks like you are the culprit who kidnapped Princess Bao Na.

By the order of Lord Bo, we’re lying in ambush.

Lord Bo and Princess are released from prison.

Right now, they’re on their way here.

Lord Bo is coming as well?

Prime Minister, you better surrender.

Don’t waste your time.

Kill them all!

Your Majesty, Lord Yun is asking to see you.

Let him in.

Yes.

Summoning for Lord Yun.

Aren’t you in a rush to see me?

Now that you’re here,

why aren’t you speaking?

Father.

I’ve found out the culprit who kidnapped Princess Bao Na.

Who is that?

It’s...

my father-in-law.

It’s the Prime Minister?

Yes.

To defeat Lord Bo and make him fall into disgrace,

he took this unwise move.

The Prime Minister hopes that with the disappearance of Princess,

you will punish Lord Bo

and indirectly gain your favour for me.

What an evil heart.

He made me imprisoned

my own son.

Punish me

with death, Your Majesty.

How did you know about this?

This morning, the Prime Minister came to me and told me everything.

He wants me to work with him on this plot.

But how can I tolerate that?

Right now,

the Prime Minister is meeting with the villains

to bring the Princess back to the Prime Minister’s Mansion.

He’s planning to let me bring the Princess to you.

So that you’ll acknowledge that it’s me who has found the Princess

and performed a deed of merit.

How dare you, Jing Xiang.

I’ve appointed you as the Prime Minister

and become in-laws with you.

How dare you repay me with this!

Calm down, Father.

It’s due to my foolishness.

I was deceived by the villains.

Please rise.

Rise.

For this matter,

you pulled back before it is too late.

You didn’t go along with Jing Xiang’s evil deeds

and betray the kingdom.

I’m

relieved.

Now, Jing Xiang should be in Lord Bo’s hands.

Yesterday, Princess Ma has rescued Princess Bao Na

and seen through their conspiracy.

Today, I’ve ordered Lord Bo to make use of their plot

to catch the mole.

Very wise, Father.

I’m just relieved that

you’re not in this together with your father-in-law

and betray me.

Or else,

I won’t spare you any mercy.

I’m absolutely loyal to you, Father.

After Lord Bo arrests Jing Xiang,

I’ll issue an imperial edict

to sentence him to death.

This is to

serve as an answer

to the King.

Thank you, Father, for not killing the whole family.

You may leave.

Yes, Father.

Your Highness.

Madam, please go slowly.

How did you take care of Madam?

How can you let her walk around freely?

Chu Chu.

I went to my father’s mansion to talk with my mother.

Suddenly, a group of imperial guards came and arrested them.

What happened?

Please find a way to save them.

They also said that my father is currently

waiting to be beheaded in the prison.

I

Can’t save him.

Your Highness.

Please, I beg you.

If you don’t save him now, it’ll be too late.

I would like to save him,

but this is ordered by His Majesty.

Chu Chu.

Chu Chu.

- Chu Chu. - Madam.

- Madam. - Chu Chu.

What are you doing there?

Hurry and call the physician over!

Hurry up!

Yes.

Chu Chu.

Chu Chu.

Chu Chu. Wake up.

Help!

Somebody, help!

[Yun Mansion]

When did you arrive?

I’m here just in time.

I almost missed this loving scene of you and Princess Consort.

I’ve prepared the things that you asked for.

The rest,

I’ll arrange for my men to send it over.

Lord Yun is indeed generous.

This

is considered as my little token of regard.

This is...

This is Duan Xi San.

Mix it with wine and drink it.

Your pulse will be gone for four hours.

As if you’re poisoned.

Although you’ve found yourself a scapegoat,

everyone knows that Lord Yun is close with the Prime Minister.

His Majesty will still be suspicious of you.

You need to pretend to take poison

to prove your innocence with your life.

This is the best solution.

This bottle of medicine

may even earn Princess Consort’s heart back and forgive you.

Who are you?

A person who wanders about,

loves money,

loves women, a mere rake.

I bid you goodbye.

Yesterday, the imperial physician reported to me that

due to Jing Xiang’s betrayal,

You Gui is overwhelmed with guilt and took poison.

Is brother alright?

His pulse was gone for a while

and he nearly stopped breathing.

After such frightening moments, he’s saved.

At first, I’m still suspecting that

he’s together in this with Jing Xiang.

Now, it seems that I’ve misunderstood him.

That’s it for now.

Lord Bo.

I foolishly

wronged you and put you into prison.

You won’t blame me, right?

I hold no grudges at all.

Good.

I didn’t expect that

Ma Zhai Xing would perform such deed of merit

and save you.

Yes.

All thanks to Ma Zhai Xing, I managed to overcome this hurdle.

Apart from this,

after Princess Bao Na is safe, she sent a letter back home.

The King acknowledges this matter.

He even agreed to allow You Zhen, the Fourth Prince

who has been held hostage for so many years to return.

These

are all Princess Ma’s credit.

I

Must thank her properly.

Zhang Jin.

Yes.

I want to gift Princess Ma the best silk and satin.

Please arrange for this.

Yes, Your Majesty.

On behalf of Zhai Xing, thank you, Father, for the gift.

Princess Bao Na has been understanding for this time,

I’m surprised as well.

Father.

Where is Princess Bao Na at the moment?

At the moment?

At the moment, Princess Bao Na should be at your Bo Mansion

to challenge Ma Zhai Xing.

Greetings, Your Highness.

May I know why are you here, making this grand gesture?

Ma Zhai Xing.

To repay your life-saving grace, I’ve decided to teach you archery.

For my archery skills, my Father, and my eleven brothers

said that it’s excellent.

Look carefully.

What an amazing shot, Princess!

Clap your hands.

For my amazing archery skills.

What’s there to cheer about?

Your archery skills are worse than mine.

Since young,

no matter what I do,

everyone compliments that I’m the best.

But that isn’t the truth.

However, the people around me are like bewitched.

They lied to coax me.

Your father and brothers

are trying to protect you.

I know.

In this world,

there are only two people who dare to pop the false appearances

and tell me the truth.

One of them is Lord Bo.

Three years ago, unlike the others, he didn’t want to

compliment my archery skills.

He knocked my pride.

Because of him,

for the first time, I want to work hard.

Just to gain an approval from him.

Is this why you learn to speak Chinese and write Chinese characters

this well?

The second person is you.

But how?

When you mistaken silk for the bridge of magpies,

I foolishly acted along with you.

When I saw Lord Bo gifted you the perfumed sachet,

that was the first time that I’m afraid to lose to somebody.

So, I purposely tampered with it to frame you up.

You’re a member of the royalty,

you don’t need to compete with anyone.

Your Father and brothers will bring all glory

and put it in front of you.

Yes.

I miss home.

It isn’t fun here.

I’m nothing compared to others here.

Ma Zhai Xing.

If you dare to tell anyone about this,

I will...

Is this how you

treat someone who saved your life?

Never mind.

You can even put laxative into the tea of

the person that you like.

Back then,

I really wish that Brother Bo will stay by my side forever.

Ma Zhai Xing.

I’ve decided.

You can have Brother Bo.

Since you’re elder than me,

you’re not as beautiful as me,

and your body is not as perfect as mine too.

I’m worried that

after you canceled the engagement with Brother Bo,

you will spend the rest of your life alone.

Then, thank you for that.

Your Highness,

the carriage is waiting outside the mansion.

We’re ready to depart.

Thank you, Princess,

for making peace between both kingdoms.

Princess,

I wish you a safe journey.

Brother Bo, if you came to your senses one day

and realise that Zhai Xing is not as good as me, you’re welcome to

be my live-in husband.

Zhai Xing,

if you get divorced by Brother Bo one day, I will rush back

to comfort you and also celebrate for Brother Bo to be single again.

Well,

you’ll have to wait for a long time then.

I’m leaving.

We’ve finally sent Princess Bao Na back safely.

Seems like you like the bow and arrow that I gifted you very much.

You bring them with you everywhere.

I really like this bow and arrow that

you gifted me.

Let me have a look if the bowstring is loose.

When Princess Bao Na was around,

you did a good job.

Whatever you want, feel free to ask for it.

The perfumed sachet and the bow and arrow

that you gifted to me are more than enough.

What I want is really simple,

I just want pure, sincere love.

No deceptions, no lies.

When I was in the Palace just now,

His Majesty has gifted you a tremendous gift

as a reward.

There’s good news as well,

the King has decided to overlook this matter.

Really?

That’s great.

We managed to borrow the soldiers.

The day of conquering Jin is near.

How’s my spirit?

Better than men.

King of Jin.

I’m the daughter of Ma Ying, Ma Zhai Xing.

You used evil tactics

and killed my father and my whole family.

This is unforgivable and intolerable.

His Majesty is afraid that you’re still missing Kuizhou.

He kept this a secret from you and released a second order.

Kill Ma Ying and his family, and leave Ma Zhai Xing alive.

When we meet at the war in the future,

I, Ma Zhai Xing,

will chop off your head

to avenge my father.

It’s my fault, I’m unaware of it

and I didn’t manage to stop Father.

I can’t forgive myself.

This is a gap that can’t be crossed over between us.

Come out.

Go.

Go.

Hurry up.

I’m afraid.

You should go instead.

Stop dawdling.

Your Highness.

It’s my fault.

We just want to say that both of you

can celebrate Qixi Festival again.

If you want to punish, punish me alone.

Calm down, Master.

Your Highness.

For the sake of the well-meant Qiaoguo that they’ve brought,

please don’t let down their good intention.

Today, let’s celebrate this festival among the two of us again.

Qixi Festival is over.

We can’t turn back time.

As long as I’m with you, I don’t mind about the formalities.

Even if it’s a pretended act.

Pretend?

If it can be pretended,

I hope that

the mistakes that I have done,

I can pretend that they never happened.

Your Highness, aren’t you being a little greedy?

I just want to celebrate the Qixi Festival with you.

What about you?

Me too.

Very much.

Among these Qiaoguo, only one Qiaoguo has a red string inside.

So, the two of you must choose carefully.

You only have one chance.

If we pick the right one,

will we

be inseparable forever?

You may choose it.

There’s a red string.

I know that Princess and Your Highness is doomed to be a couple.

Hai Die.

Next up, you need to tie the other end of the red string

around Princess’s little finger.

Then, tie the other end around His Highness’s little finger.

In this way, the both of you will live a long and happy life together

and stay inseparable forever.

Hurry up.

Release the fireflies.

Isn’t it beautiful?

There’s a lot of fireflies.

It’s beautiful.

Princess is right.

I’m being selfish.

A white lie

and self-deception, they’re totally different.

What did you say just now?

I couldn’t hear you clearly.

I must’ve been too clumsy and broke this string accidentally.

Your Highness.

This is just a myth.

I hope that you won’t feel upset.

Never mind.

I’m okay.

Enjoy.

I have other things to attend to.

Why did it break?

Wolf Boy.

To be honest,

are you keeping something from me?

Zhai Xing.

The culprit who killed your father

is Chu Kui.

Are you having a fever?

Why are you talking nonsense?

My father is alright.

Yesterday, didn’t you go to have a meal with him?

My father even agreed that we can get married.

How would something happen to him?

Wolf Boy.

Are you awake?

Stop evading the subject.

Zhai Xing.

Is Xia Hou Yi dead?

He’s in the Imperial City, living just fine.

Don’t curse him.

These eight years

are just a nightmare... Nightmare?

What are you talking about?

Nothing.
