The Silent Criminal

Episode 4

What's all this noise about?

Go back in!

So nosy.

Stop right there!

Didn't you say I'm not your friend?

Why did you come to save me?

I am of no use to you anymore

Apologize to me.

I didn't want things

to turn out like this too.

You are the one who made the choice

to blackmail Pei Zhang,

to give the evidence to...

Alright!

I know.

I'm not done talking!

You are the one who let the murderer go.

I knew you would say that.

Are you here just to

berate me?

Your father will be disappointed

by what you are now.

Him?

That man?

He abandoned

my mother and me 19 years ago.

We have had

a hard life for 19 years.

It's me!

I'm the one who has been taking care of the family!

Fine.

It doesn't matter what you think of me.

Whether you think I'm weak,

or dumb to blackmail Pei Zhang,

I just want to take care of my family.

That's the only reason.

It has nothing to do with that man.

You're wrong.

I'm going to the border to see a friend.

I don't know how long it would take.

The only concern I have now

is my son and my wife.

I can only hope that I can return soon.

That bastard kidnapped my mother.

I will never forgive him.

World's Best Teahouse

Sir, you are of noble status.

There's no need to take this to the court.

We can handle it privately.

Official Ge.

I am a constable under

Magistrate Liu.

According to what I've found on Official Li's body,

it's highly possible that he was murdered.

I speculate

that the murder

was committed by General Pei Zhang's son, Wang Su.

You have no proof,

yet you accused my son of committing the crime.

What would your punishment be?

Sir,

it would be the death penalty.

Since it concerns General Pei Zhang's reputation.

I wouldn't dare to say it

if I didn't have proof.

Did you find any evidence

in the hunting ground?

Sir,

I did not.

If you don't have any evidence,

then Wang Su is innocent.

Official Ge.

The one who died was your man.

A Jinyiwei Guard.

How did I dare to risk my life

to kill a Jinyiwei Guard?

Li Yu's notebook?

A Jinyiwei Guard never separate

from his notebook.

Where did you find it?

In Prince Rui's mansion.

Prince Rui's mansion?

Why was Li Yu's belonging

in Prince Rui's mansion?

Well...

four days ago,

a group of intruders trespassed Prince Rui's mansion

to steal the artifact bestowed by the late emperor.

However,

they did not succeed.

Instead, they were executed.

This is because

the Dayintuya bestowed by the late emperor

had already been stolen

How did you know?

Seems like I was right.

Official Ge.

Jinyiwei Guard Li Yu

discovered the fact that

the Dayintuya was lost.

Simultaneously,

Jinyiwei Guard Long Yao also knows.

He can be

the witness.

The Dayintuya?

After Li Yu found out about this secret,

he blackmailed

General Pei Zhang.

A thousand taels.

That's it?

For this month.

That's why both General Pei Zhang and his son

wanted him dead.

They asked Li Yu to meet at the hunting grounds,

and killed him with an arrow.

It also matches the time when

Wang Su was in the hunting grounds.

Hunting forest owls?

3p.m. to 5p.m.

Forest owls only appears during 5 a.m. to 7a.m.

How could he hunt them in the afternoon?

According to the traces found

in the crime scene,

I've also

located the murderer's shooting position.

In that location, I found

a saddle accessory

that Wang Su left behind.

At first,

we thought we could apprehended the murderer

with this saddle accessory.

I didn't expect them to

kidnap my mother

to force me to surrender the evidence.

I had no choice

but to give the evidence to them.

Let my mother leave.

I expect the evidence

has been destroyed by now.

In the end,

General Pei Zhang

even killed a non-local

named A Meng

just to cover for his son.

He even tried to bribe

both me and Magistrate Liu with money.

Congratulations, Constable Shi,

for being able to

apprehend the murderer so quickly.

He used this man

as a scapegoat.

We tailed Li Huang Wu who tried to avenge A Meng

into Prince Rui's mansion

and coincidentally found

Li Yu's notebook.

Other than the murderer,

who else could have taken it?

Nonsense.

Official Ge.

Magistrate Liu.

You might have forgotten

that they were the ones

who tried to steal the Dayintuya.

They are the most wanted people in the Capital.

Nothing you said about this case

makes any sense.

To put the blame on us,

General Pei Zhang

purposely led us

into the treasure room where the Dayintuya was.

My father is inside.

Go inside to claim your reward.

Before we went in,

the Dayintuya had gone missing.

Official Ge, if you have doubts,

you can read Li Yu's notebook.

Li Yu has already recorded

the truth behind the missing Dayintuya.

The Dayintuya

has been missing.

My residence has tight security.

The Dayintuya is without doubt

heavily guarded.

How could you have stolen it?

Li Yu

did not find anything on

the Dayintuya missing.

That's because

the Dayintuya

is in my residence.

It has been heavily guarded now.

It never went missing before.

General Pei Zhang,

the Dayintuya in your residence

is just a replica.

You have lost the treasure bestowed by the emperor.

This offense alone is enough

to throw you into prison for life.

That's a fake.

What?

Arrest him.

Verify...

the Dayintuya's authenticity.

At least you didn't disappoint me this time.

Then we're even.

Your father

was last seen

in Storm Town.

He stole the Dayintuya.

That's why I was looking for him.

Do you know how many people would die

if the Dayintuya

falls into the enemy's hands?

Think about it.

We'll leave tomorrow.

Who is it?

Reveal yourself.

Your Majesty!

Why are you here?

You shouldn't have kept it from me.

I...

wouldn't have punished you

just because you lost a weapon.

Yet you...

killed a Jinyiwei Guard

to covered up for your son.

You brought this upon yourself.

I...

acknowledge my sins.

Let it be bygones.

I only have one question for you.

Who are the people

who came to steal the Dayintuya?

There are many

in the world who yearns to possess

the Dayintuya.

I received news

that they were sent by Lord Feng.

Lord Feng?

Feng Bao?

That's impossible.

Impossible.

The Centurions have been annihilated.

I killed the commander of the Centurions, Feng Bao,

with my own hands.

It seems

that they have returned.

Your Majesty!

How did you find out?

Sealed up

Luck and fortune fill the house

Let's go.

What do you want?

Verification.

It is indeed a fake.

Where is

the real one?

The late emperor

bestowed the Dayintuya

to me out of trust.

I will never

let him down.

The Dayintuya disappeared

You won't be able to find it.

Don't you expect that

I will give you any information!

19 years.

19 years.

You're saying...

The Dayintuya has been lost

We, the Centurions,

once sent a capable warrior

to lurk in the Capital

in order to find out its whereabouts.

That was exactly

He returned to report

that he couldn't locate it.

A person that is about to die

will not spit lies.

I believe you.

In that case,

that person must have lied.

I thank you

for helping me locate the Dayintuya.

Why do you look for it?!

What are your intentions?

Tell me!

Your Majesty.

I've said

something that I shouldn't have.

Meeting's adjourned.

I am tired.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Why are you still here?

Governor Zhao Shan He

Your Majesty has been absent for many days,

and yet did not ask anything in the morning court.

It is obvious

that Your Majesty has something in mind.

Zhao Shan He!

You are undoubtedly my confidant.

I...

am humbled by your grace.

There was once

a famous minister

named Zhang Kuang Zheng.

He was killed by the late emperor,

but I like reading

the books he wrote very much.

They are about good solutions to manage a kingdom.

This book

was given to Feng Bao by him.

Feng Bao?

Was it the eunuch that betrayed the country?

I've heard that

he was once the world's best martial artist.

That's right.

But he had another title, which ic

The commander of the Centurions.

The Centurions?

Everything that can't be revealed to the public,

and anything that is impossible to carry out

is the Centurion's job.

They are the world's

most brutal

and most enigmatic organisation.

Feng Bao led his men into the palace

to rebel against the court.

The late emperor almost died in Feng Bao's hands.

Fortunately, they failed.

Feng Bao died,

and I

witnessed everything from behind that partition.

The reason for their rebellion

was the Dayintuya.

The Dayintuya?

That's the world's best weapon.

That's right.

After that,

the late emperor secretly entrusted the Dayintuya

to General Pei Zhang

as he feared that

someone would come for the artifact again.

Indeed,

a few days ago,

it was found out by a group of people.

Guess.

Who are they?

The Centurions?

That's right.

A few days ago,

a group of intruders

trespassed General Pei Zhang's residence.

At first, I thought that

those were regular thieves

that merely coveted the Dayintuya.

I never expected

that they would identify themselves as Feng Bao's people.

It seems that the Centurions

have been hiding for the last two decades.

Even though Feng Bao has died,

but the Centurions are still here.

Their objective

is still the Dayintuya.

What they didn't expect

was that the Dayintuya was stolen

by a Jinyiwei Guard called Shi Zhan

But what do they want

the Dayintuya for?

Regardless of how they want to use the Dayintuya,

there is no doubt that it will lead to bloodshed.

This sword

is called the Tai Bai Sword.

It is the symbol

of my authority.

I want you to investigate

the usage of the Dayintuya.

In the meantime,

I need to leave the palace for a few days.

Your Majesty,

please don't do that.

You are the Son of Heaven.

You can't

put yourself in danger.

Furthermore,

you are the master of our kingdom.

How can...

How can you act so rashly?

This is my responsibility.

If you make a mistake,

the worst outcome is losing your life.

If I make a mistake,

it could cost millions of lives.

That is why

I can't afford to make mistakes.

I will summon you

when I need you.

I am now entrusting this sword

to you.

If anything goes wrong

in my absence,

I will have you beheaded.

Take the sword.

I...

comply.

A Meng's Grave

Your Majesty!

How did you find out?

Your mistake is

looking down on petty people.

I have once told you

that I will make you fully convinced.
