Of course, I end up doing all the work.

He always works me to death.

You said you would do your best.

Should I fire you then?

Minister, I will take care of all of these documents.

Do not worry, just sleep.

Minister, are you home?

It's me.

What is it?

The Crown Prince...

Is it true that the Crown Prince has passed away?

What do you mean he passed away?

Did you have a nightmare? What are you talking about?

Read this.

Choi Heon sent me this letter.

He says the Crown Prince was killed by the Pyeonsoo-hwe.

He left tonight in order to bring his army here.

Is it true? Did the Crown Prince really die?

What's going on?

Look at this this.

Don't be alarmed. Come read this letter.

General Choi Heon is going to bring in his army?

It seems that he is.

The Crown Prince has passed away.

Who are you?

We need to stop the army.

Why you rascal!

Your Highness!

I thought that you were dead!

You're safe.

You are just fine.

- The army, the army... - Your Highness!

I was so scared.

Yes, but what about the army?

Move!

[Episode 22]

I cannot stand by and watch these traitors any longer.

The Dowager Queen will invite Dae Mok and his men to her birthday celebration.

I will kill all those traitors in one place.

I will clean up this nation's government.

The Dowager Queen's birthday...

Bring in his army?

Should I go after the general? I could catch up if I hurry.

Your Highness, in my opinion...

Choi Heon is like an arrow that has already been shot.

He will not stop his army, no matter what.

Even if he knows that I am alive?

Choi Heon is a patriot and has fiery emotions.

It is true that you nearly died, Your Highness.

He will bring his army back and his priority will be to protect you.

I am sure that is what Choi Heon is thinking.

If... if that is how it is, we cannot avoid war?

Then there is only one thing we can do.

We must make it impossible to move the army from the border.

We need to create a situation.

The Pyeonsoo-hwe tried to kill you again?

Thankfully, someone risked their life to save me.

So, I was able to live.

I am very thankful to that person.

Head Merchant.

I am actually here to discuss an urgent matter with you.

General Choi Heon is on his way to move his army here from the border.

He will bring them to the city and get rid of the Pyeonsoo-hwe.

I am trying to stop that from happening. Will you help?

Will you help me?

May I... ask you one thing?

Yes.

Aren't they your enemy? Aren't you trying to get rid of them?

Why are you trying to stop Choi Heon, who is trying to attack them?

The innocent people...

They cannot be sacrificed for it.

I cannot allow barbarians to invade our country.

Then how can I help you?

What is it?

How could you try to kill the boss again?

Did you not make a promise to me?

So, how could you try to kill him again?

That boss...

He must have many enemies besides me.

It was not you, Grandfather?

Elder Dae Mok.

We need to hold a meeting right now regarding the Pyeonsoo-hwe.

Choi Heon is planning to bring his army in from the border.

How did you find that out?

We had many of our men following Choi Heon.

He is a man used to fighting all sorts of battles.

We could not get any information.

So, how can you be certain of his plans?

I found out through the organization of merchants.

The merchants?

Recently, the volume of trade between northern merchants and barbarians doubled

I found it suspicious and looked into it.

Choi Heon had forged a treaty with the barbarians.

I wondered why he hid that fact from the government.

Then he met with the Dowager Queen in secret.

Taking all of this into account...

I have to think it is a plan to secretly move his army.

Elder Dae Mok.

I think the chief's theory is correct.

I have to agree.

Choi Heon is going to move his army.

Do not worry, Elder Dae Mok.

I have already put a plan into place.

I will block all the northern merchants from trading with the barbarians.

Once that happens

the barbarians will fear for their survival and cause conflict.

Then Choi Heon will give up on coming back to the city.

He will have to stop them first.

You have accomplished a great feat.

Chief of Yangsucheong.

Yes.

Go to the borders.

If the chief of the Pyeonsoo-hwe's plans do not go well

do whatever you need to.

Bring me Choi Heon's head.

Yes, Elder Dae Mok.

The Dowager Queen will be expecting General Choi Heon on her birthday.

General Choi will not be coming.

I made sure of that.

I cannot sacrifice the people with a civil war.

I am worried about Ga Eun. Will you help me see her?

Ga Eun does not know that I am the Crown Prince.

She only knows me as Chun Soo, the boss of the pack carriers.

Please keep my secret for now.

Do this favor for me.

Are you there, Eunuch?

Yes, Your Majesty.

Bring in Court Lady Han.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Did you ask for me, Your Majesty?

Did you receive the herbal medicine the doctor made for you?

Yes, Your Majesty.

How are you feeling? subtitles ripped and synced by riri13

I am fine.

Do not be careless and get sick.

Do not forget that you are the King's court lady.

You must always take care of yourself.

Yes, Your Majesty.

You may leave now.

We cannot continue speaking like this.

We should go to the greenhouse.

Have you forgotten that Young Miss Ga Eun is a court lady?

Meeting a court lady as the boss of the pack carriers

is extremely dangerous and you know that very well.

Ga Eun jumped into the water to save me.

I was so worried about Ga Eun...

I was being careless.

Please watch over Ga Eun.

Why are you the one to ask me to watch over her?

I have known her longer than you, Your Highness.

I was a lowly person who had no name!

It was she who gave me my name.

We grew up together, and learned to read and write together.

- For a long time, I have... - Do you love her?

Do you... love her too?

Young Miss Ga Eun hates me in my mask.

Do you know why?

She thinks that I am you.

She believes I am her father's enemy.

Young Miss...

actually hates you.

How could you not tell her who you are?

How long are you going to fool her with the name Chun Soo?

I...

The throne was always yours, Your Highness.

When the time comes, I will return it to you.

However, remember this.

Young Miss Ga Eun...

is not yours, Your Highness.

Why did Choi Heon suddenly make an appearance?

Hasn't he always hated the Pyeonsoo-hwe?

Choi Heon is a trained hawk.

A person like that does not hunt without his owner.

Who is his owner?

The Dowager Queen, of course.

I am positive he moved his army under the Dowager Queen's orders.

Grandfather, I have a plan to destroy the Dowager Queen.

Would you like to hear it?

Dae Mok has gone after the Crown Prince's life again.

The Crown Prince almost drowned and lost his life...

It was not Dae Mok.

The Dowager Queen did it.

Why would the Dowager Queen try to kill the Crown Prince?

He has to be gone in order for her to use Choi Heon's army as she pleases.

That is likely what she was thinking.

The Dowager Queen crossed the line this time.

She needs to be warned.

Prepare a gift for her birthday.

That gift...

needs to be seen by the Crown Prince, as well.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

You should come and sit down.

As you can see...

you and I seem to be the only ones who have the time of feast wrong.

Oh no.

Your Majesty, of course I planned this.

Oh dear.

If you had something to say to me, why didn't you just come see me?

Why did you bother to go to all this trouble?

It is your birthday celebration.

How could I not put in effort?

I wanted to congratulate you on my own, so I made preparations.

In celebration of the day of your birth...

a special dish.

This is the first.

Oh no.

The barbarians in the north have started a conflict.

What a problem.

You must be disappointed that Choi Heon will not be coming.

What are you referring to?

Choi Heon just left. Why would he return so soon?

Honestly, I thought about making it so that he could never return.

But I thought it was not so bad to have a hawk protecting our borders.

So, I left him alone.

Here is the next one.

It is the second one.

Now... what does this mean?

This is something my granddaughter said.

Once your son grows older, you will have a daughter-in-law.

One who should step aside, should step aside.

Handing over true power to the young people...

is the way the world works.

The last dish.

It is the third.

It is tiger's blood.

Please...

remember the past.

Your Majesty.

Congratulations on your birthday, Dowager Queen.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

I heard you are suffering from the heat.

I prepared watermelon especially for you.

Thank you, King.

Also, for your birthday celebration

someone is here who wishes to give you a gift.

Congratulations, Dowager Queen.

I was told you are very fond of him, Dowager Queen.

I gave him special permission to attend today.

If this bothers you...

Not at all, King.

Thank you... for thinking of me.

It seems that...

I have not seen you in a long time.

Why have you not come to visit me lately?

I apologize, Your Majesty.

I am not someone with the status to come to you so I waited for you to ask for me.

Yes.

You cannot come comfortably unless I call for you.

I will tell my servants.

From now on... you can come visit me as you please.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Are you all ready?

It is a feast with many important people.

There cannot be any mistakes.

Yes, Lady.

Ga Eun.

To tell you the truth...

that awful Crown Prince who caused the death of your father...

is me.

Stay by my side.

Starting now...

we will tell you an old story that occurred in the Chinese Imperial family.

The Emperor did not have a son.

The nation was very worried.

But, then...

a royal concubine gave birth to a son.

You have given much joy to the Imperial Household.

What should I do to reward you?

Yes "Hee" for joy.

Royal Consort Hee sounds nice.

Starting today, you will be called Royal Consort Hee.

If you write the baby's name on his body with tiger's blood

he will grow up healthy and strong.

Thank you so much, Queen.

Captain.

Yes.

Give the Crown Prince a gift.

Royal Consort Hee.

It was bad enough to lose the King's love.

A child birthed by a lowly wench like you is the Crown Prince?

Do you think I can forgive you for that?

The tiger's blood that is to be used to write the name on the Crown Prince

will have poison in it.

One drop.

Two drops.

Three drops.

Now, the Crown Prince will die.

That play is a true story.

When you were born...

you were actually poisoned.

Then...

As soon as you were born...

did you know you nearly died?

Yes.

I heard I have to wear this mask because of that illness.

It was no illness.

It was poison.

Then...

if that is true?

When I was born...

the person who poisoned me was...

Your Majesty.

Please... remember the past.

Please... remember the past.

Your Majesty.

You used the poison, Your Majesty.

If the King finds out the truth...

the King will not let you continue living like this.

Dowager Queen!

Stop everything and turn on the lights!

Your Majesty.

[Ruler: Master of the Mask]

Are you here?

Son of that lowly Youngbin.

This time we should really kill the Crown Prince.

Are you going to continue risking your life for the Dowager Queen?

Why do you keep helping me?

Since I am going to die anyhow, may I tell you one thing?

I love you.
