The Legend of Xiao Chuo

Episode 40

He said

he would give me a hundred taels

when it was done.

That's what I want.

I didn't expect to get Qingge killed.

I didn't.

I didn't expect that.

Your Highness,

Han Derang is just the Privy of South.

His wife got killed.

But he can't make it so terrible.

I am a royal member.

Your Highness, please let it go.

Yeah, that's right.

So what if I disagree?

The poison was from the palace.

The maid who served the wine was your henchman.

There's no need to search the whole city.

The source is right here.

I am the Queen Regent.

The case I want to investigate must be investigated.

No one can stop me.

As a royal member,

I won't let you make mistakes

if you don't stop.

Pishi troop is intrepid indeed.

The Clan Six is not weak as well.

What do you mean?

Are you threatening me?

No, I am not.

Your Highness, you are just the Queen Regent.

His Majesty is still our emperor.

I want His Majesty to make a decision.

His Majesty is here.

His Majesty.

Long live, Your Majesty.

Go ahead.

Keep going.

You just had a great conversation, didn't you?

A major officer's family got murdered.

Of course, it's a big case.

We should investigate it.

But the wine

was from the Palace.

You can believe a rumor like this.

I wouldn't forgive the ones

who fabricated it.

As royal members,

you should cooperate

in order to prove the Queen's innocence.

Hugu, am I right?

Are you going to keep looking

if the murderer never get caught?

Please set a deadline,

Your Majesty and Your Highness.

Yeah.

There should be a deadline.

Mr. Hugu,

are you threatening the Queen?

Is she...

Is she dead?

Yeah.

What's going on?

Yeah.

Your Highness,

the murderer has been found.

She is

Qingge's twin sister.

Lange.

She was the one who served the wine

to Privy Senator Han's Mansion.

Who ordered you to do it?

I'm a maid working on the farm of King Zhao.

Our steward came to me before

and asked me to serve food and drink.

Then they will give me a good life

and money for my husband's medical treatment.

Your Highness,

I didn't know

I was sent to kill someone.

Mrs. Han died for the poisonous wine.

In for a penny, in for a pound.

King Zhao decided to spread rumors

to frame the Queen.

At the same time,

he killed Qingge

and wanted to kill Lange too.

You are so lunatic!

Your Majesty, please put him in prison.

It's proofless!

You can't convict me

of a maid's nonsense.

Besides,

Why would I kill Mrs. Han?

Why would I frame the Queen?

After listening to her testimony,

I remember the day you failed to win me over.

And then, you tried to kill me.

You were afraid that

I would expose your treachery to the public.

Han Derang! You're trying to frame me up!

Guards!

Take down the King Zhao!

I am innocent!

Let go of me!

I am innocent!

Let go of me!

I am innocent!

Let go of me!

I was framed.

Keep silent!

Do you have any other comments?

No, we don't.

The truth emerged at last.

Dongde Palace

Yanyan,

please forgive Xiyin.

Yanyan,

I am begging you!

I saved you once.

Please, for the sake of it,

spare him.

Yanyan!

Liulishou, shout loudly!

Beg your aunt. Beg her to spare your father.

Auntie,

please forgive my father.

Auntie,

please!

Yanyan,

how can we live without Xiyin?

We will become an orphan and a widow.

I'm begging you!

We are sisters.

Please forgive Xiyin.

Auntie,

please forgive my father.

Yanyan,

are you really so heartless?

Mother,

we don't have to beg her.

We can save my father ourselves.

Liulishou,

this is our only way.

Your father's life

is in her and His Majesty's hands.

Why?

Why doesn't Aunt Hunian help us?

Why?

Hunian.

Right!

Let's go to find Hunian.

Hunian will help us!

She won't let you become an orphan.

She won't let me become a widow.

Let's go.

Crown Princess, are you going to see the Queen?

Xiyin is hateful indeed.

But he is Wuguli's husband.

But His Majesty and Queen are angry now.

You...

Who else will go if I don't?

Hunian, please.

Please save Xiyin.

He can't be a child without father.

Hunian.

Hunian, please.

Please save Xiyin.

Yanyan is your own sister.

How could you watch Xiyin

to frame your sister and her family?

You even helped him!

Is there anyone else in your heart

besides Xiyin?

Just ask yourself.

What will you do

if someone hurts your family

and says that you have an affair with another man?

I...

Don't ask others to do

what you can't do yourself.

Hunian, I am begging you!

Please!

Please save Xiyin!

I can't live without him!

Crown Princess,

don't insult my mother

if you are unwilling to save my father.

We are asking the wrong person.

Mother, let's go.

Idiot!

Bastard!

How can you be so rude to your aunt?

Kneel!

No way!

She won't help us at all!

She will only help the Queen!

Mother, don't be silly.

We are descendants of Yelü Abaoji.

I won't kneel if I die.

Then get me killed first,

Hunian.

I was going to intercede for you.

But now,

I think I have to think it over.

Hunian,

why?

By now,

you don't even realize that

it wasn't Yanyan

but Xiyin who caused all this.

Can he promise that

he will never commit such a capital crime again?

Hunian,

he won't do it again.

I promise.

Then...

As long as he's alive, right?

Yes!

Yes!

Mother.

Mother.

As long as he's alive...

To live is to have a chance.

A chance.

Your Highness.

Wuguli came to you, right?

I will come to you anyway.

Yanyan,

I came to you today

for the same reason I went to Lange for you

to find out the truth.

You're my sister. So is she.

Hunian, do you still remember?

You married Yansage for her.

Your marriage and your life

are ruined because of her.

And I keep Xiyin for her

again and again.

That's why he can plot against me without scruple.

Hunian,

I love Wuguli.

But she can't live in her love forever.

And to trample on our tolerance and sacrifice.

Yanyan.

Hunian, it's enough.

If you want to

offer him your credit

for his life this time,

I can give you my word.

But never again.

Okay.

What will you do with Xiyin?

I don't want to see him again.

Dongde Palace

Dongde Palace According to Queen's order,

Dongde Palace

King Zhao intended to murder the major officer

and slander the imperial household.

It's an unforgivable crime.

He will be imprisoned in Zuzhou forever.

Over.

She said she would spare him!

Yanyan.

-I'm going to ask her about it. -Zhao Princess.

The Queen didn't kill King Zhao.

Just accept it and leave here.

Let's go!

We have to say goodbye anyway.

Wuguli,

just go back with Liulishou.

It's windy outside.

It will be bad if you get sick.

Zuzhou is far away from here.

And it's a poor land.

You are a king.

How can you suffer from it?

Don't worry.

I am strong enough.

I will live longer than Mingyi.

Stop it.

Don't be angry with the Queen

if you really want me back.

Go to find her and the Crown Princess

if you are free.

She will release me

when she's not angry about me.

Okay.

Okay, I'll beg her.

I'll wait for your good news.

Father, why?

You don't even know how she humiliated mother.

Mother begged her in the hot sun.

And she didn't give a shit!

Liulishou, shut up!

She doesn't treat you as her sister.

She is unworthy to be my aunt.

Father, don't worry.

Sooner or later,

I will defeat her by myself.

And get you back.

Great!

That's my son.

Xiyin,

he is just a child.

But how could you praise him?

You are trying to piss me off!

Liulishou, come here.

I know you want to avenge me.

But if you really want to set me free,

you can't express what's in your mind.

You have to learn to forbear

and gain their trust.

Then you can have chances to take advantage of their weaknesses.

Do you know that?

Yes.

Salan is loyal. He will help you.

But you need to know that

you can't make the mistakes that I made.

You have to seize the moment.

Just like His Majesty seized

the chance of Black Mountain at that time.

Hole in one. Do you remember that?

Father, I will keep it in mind.

You've grown up.

You have to protect your mother.

She is a woman.

There are things you have to keep from her.

If we want to get together again,

we have to take the throne back.

We're counting on you.

Father, don't worry.

Boss,

is the agate bracelet I saw last time still there?

I am sorry, lady.

It was bought right after you left.

Thank you.

Miss Hailan,

is it the agate bracelet you like?

Why do you have it?

Did you buy it?

Yeah.

I knew at a glance that...

This must be something you liked.

Am I smart?

Here are you.

Stupid!

Just make it clear.

What's wrong with me?

I thought this bracelet was nice.

I was afraid it would be bought by someone else.

So I bought it for you.

Isn't it what you like?

If you don't like it,

I will buy you something else.

Hailan,

just accept it.

Otherwise, my money will be wasted.

Yeah, miss. Just accept it.

I'm not a greedy girl.

And I don't take things from others.

I bought it for you on purpose.

Please.

I bought it for you.

Just accept it.

Diligu,

what's wrong with her?

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

Miss Yuxiao is pregnant.

Pregnant?

Yuxiao,

you really gave me a big surprise.

It's a good thing.

Why are you upset?

I know.

I know why you're upset.

But anyway,

You're trying to reproduce for the Yelü Family.

It's a great thing.

I never thought I'd have kids with you.

Thanks to the blessing of God Tengri.

But...

The condition of my health...

Your Majesty,

you will get better and better.

You will see him be born and grow up.

And see him get married and have children.

Yeah.

I believe it will happen.

What?

His Majesty has a concubine in private.

And now,

she is pregnant.

Yes.

His Majesty spent ten million copper cash

praying for her

and the unborn baby.

And...

Go ahead.

Queen has no idea about it.

So generous.

Ten million copper cash.

Guiyin, get ready.

I'm going to the Palace.

I want to see

how beautiful this woman is.

Princess,

are you going to tell the Queen about it right now?

What's wrong?

Let's think it over.

It's a privacy between husband and wife.

It is improper for others to meddle.

Miss Guiyin,

our princess is Queen's elder sister.

Of course, it's her business.

Yeah.

I have to take care of my little sister.

Let her know that her man is unreliable.

I'm the only one who really cares about her.

Don't let a man

get in the way of our relationship.

Wuguli, what's wrong?

Promise me. Don't be angry.

Yanyan,

we are sisters.

I'm doing it for you.

You work so hard every day.

You have to take care of his health as well as the government.

And have to take care of the children.

What about him?

He's cheating on you with another woman.

And...

That woman is pregnant.

Pregnant?

Are you...

Is it true?

Of course!

Yanyan,

he forced you to marry him.

But now...

What did he do?

How can he treat you like this?

Wuguli, thank you for telling me about it.

Yanyan, just think about it.

I won't disturb you, then.

Do you know

what Zhao Princess just said?

Please forgive me.

I just heard about it, too.

What else?

She is a tribute from Bohai Sea, named Yuxiao.

Diligu diagnosed her pregnancy

the day before yesterday.

You were too busy with the affairs.

So I didn't tell you in time.

Your Highness, please punish me.

Liao is going to have a newborn prince.

As the queen,

I am the last one to know it.

Yuxiao, you are getting better at playing it.

Just sit down.

From now on,

let the servants do it.

You are pregnant.

You should take care of yourself.

It's my pleasure to serve you,

Your Majesty.

What's wrong?

The Queen knows she is pregnant.

Fine.

Your Majesty,

what's wrong with you?

Nothing.

Zhao Princess came to meet the Queen

and told her about your pregnancy.

Don't worry.

I know the Queen very well.

She won't take it personally.

The weather is nice today.

Why don't you take a walk in the Imperial Garden

and get some fresh air?

It's good for your body and the baby.

Then...

Don't worry.

Just go.

Your Majesty, you are going to...

I was wrong.

I shouldn't have kept this from Yanyan

for so long.

After all, she is the Queen.

My official queen.

I should face it.

Hulie,

I heard that a concubine named Xige was forced to die.

Yes, she was impolite to the Queen.

And participated in rebellion.

I see.

Princess,

are you hurt?

Please don't cry.

The pain will go away.

Who are you?

I've never meet you before.

Me?

I am from Zhangmin Palace.

You are from father's palace.

Is he okay?

Mother said father was sick.

We are not allowed to disturb him.

Your father?

His Majesty is sick indeed.

But if you don't go to see him,

he'll feel very lonely.

But he'll be happier

if you take time to see him more often.

Okay.

Then I will go secretly to see him.

But you can't tell my mother.

Or she'll know I didn't listen to her.

Okay.

Let's make it a deal.

What are you hiding from me?

Your Highness.

Mother, why are you here?

My little naughty, are you hurt?

Stop running around.

Liangge will give you some medicine.

Let's go, princess.

Shall I take you to the medicine?

Bye bye.

You are Yuxiao.

Just stand up. You are pregnant.

Such a effeminate beauty.

His Majesty is here.

You can dismiss.

Yes, Your Majesty.

I met her today.

She is a good girl.

I should tell you in person earlier.

You haven't married a concubine

since Concubine Xige died.

It's great that you like her.

And she is pregnant now.

How about making her the Bohai concubine?

And let her live in Changning Palace.

But for your convenience,

you can let her live in the side chamber of Zhangmin Palace.

So you can see her every day

and feel a little bit relieved.

I am sorry.

Why are you saying this?

You are the emperor.

This is what you should do.

There's no need to say sorry.

I grew up in poor health.

My life is short.

I lay the burden of a country

upon you alone.

Instead,

I want to live a normal life.

With Yuxiao,

I don't feel like an emperor.

I feel relaxed

just looking at the scenery with her.

You're in love with her.

I...

I need her.

She's not like you.

She has no ambition.

She is so docile.

I know in my heart.

She poses no threat to you

or to Wenshunu.

She gives you a totally different warmth

and accompanies you every day.

You don't have to hide this from me.

Yanyan...

I don't blame you for falling in love with somebody.

We have been married for so many years.

And you can't even be honest with me.

Yelü Xian, I tell you what.

The hardest thing to speculate

is what people think.

But you see everything

as a bargaining chip.

You're so disgusting.

Speaking of Yuxiao,

you just told me that

she wasn't a threat.

Do you think I'd be grateful?

You are crying.

If a concubine

between the emperor and the queen

can make you happy,

it's not a big deal.

My kids and I aren't as vulnerable as you think.

I feel small

after hearing what you said.

I don't blame you for this.

When I saw her,

I knew she was a good girl.

She did nothing wrong.

I was just mad at you that you should tell me earlier.

I am too busy

to look after you.

I blame myself for that.

I'm so relieved

to have her now.

It's all my fault.

I...

Thank you for your tolerance.

It's said that His Majesty is seriously ill.

Even Han Kuangsi can do nothing about it.

Is it true?

Your Highness,

I've already made sure of everything.

He only takes analgesics

when he feels bad.

His Majesty is going to die.

Great! Salan.

The Autumn Outing is coming.

We need to get ready.

When the time comes,

we will save my father

and take back the military power.

Your Highness,

the wishes of three generations

of our family are finally coming true.

As I said before,

I would help my father to be free

and my family to get together.

Mingyi, look.

He is your little prince born by Yuxiao.

Great! That's good.

I feel like...

He is not so strong as Wenshunu is.

There are always differences between newborn babies.

He will be strong when he grows up.

I am afraid that

he is as weak as I am.

No way.

I will take care of him well.

Don't worry.

Right, give him a name.

How about...

Yaoshinu?

He will be an adopted son of Liuliguang,

the god of pharmacies.

I hope it's good for his life.

At least it'll keep him healthy

and safe all his life.

Yaoshinu, did you hear that?

Okay.

There's too much medicine here.

Don't get him choked.

Take him to his mother.

Mingyi,

you should take a rest.

I'll leave them to you.

Your Majesty, Xiuge is here.

Let him in.

Your Majesty. Your Highness.

Po, set a seat.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Xiuge,

Yuxiao gave me a prince today.

Your Majesty, congratulations!

It's a good thing.

But I know that...

His future will be out of my sight.

Not just his future,

but the future of Liao

will be out of my sight too.

I can't see it, though.

I want to ask you.

Can you?

I...

I can.

The future of Liao will be bright.

With your fourteen years of hard work,

Liao is on solid ground.

Our country will certainly be prosperous and peaceful.

Wenshunu is talented and generous.

He will be an enlightened monarch.

Yes.

I believe that too.

But no young monarch has been enthroned

But since the founding of Liao.

Do you think Wenshunu can set a precedent?

Mingyi.

The Queen is the King of Liang's mother.

We will be one to help Wenshunu

to ascend the throne.

Xiuge,

you are the most prestigious clan elder

of Yelü Family.

I want you to take over

the Yelü Family.

The Premier

is the most powerful officer.

Po.

Yes, Your Majesty.

According to this imperial edict,

you are going to be the Premier.

I hope you can become a mainstay of Liao

like Wuzhi King.

To be a pillar of the Yelü Family.

Can you make it?

I will try my best to help the Queen.

I'm so relieved to have you.

Stand up. Come on.

Your Majesty, don't worry.

Goodbye, Your Majesty.
