When I came onto the actual project...

...I had pretty much prepared most of the sketches that are in this room.

Delphinus, who is our costume...

It's just stunning, the stuff she's come up with.

She is meticulous to the point of...

...when we were discussing a ballroom scene...

...she wanted to use costumes that were made from scratch...

...because it's really hard to find costumes from that era made with the material from that era.

She only wanted to use fabrics that existed from that time.

The biggest challenge is fabric.

Getting a realistic fabric or a realistic look.

Hand-stitching.

Because you, you can't have, um...

You can't have machine-stitching show close to camera.

Christina said to me, "We want rock-star quality for Cork."

The '70s was probably the most graphically consistent with this period.

If you think about Mick Jagger or Robert Mapplethorpe...

...they actually did get into scarves around the neck...

...and hats that kind of looked the period and frock coats.

And they rocked that look.

As soon as I put this on, I feel a sense of, um...

A sense of cool come straightaway.

And Delphinus was fantastic with asking me what I wanted from it.

I love working with actors. I love it.

I love the process of watching them in the fitting...

...develop into the person that they'll be on-screen.

Delphinus White is just someone I respect so deeply.

Wonderful costume designer.

She's got an incredible team around her.

She's an adorable, lovely, lovely, supportive woman...

...who has been so excited about bringing these costumes to light.

To read about 1860 and then to leave your cell phone in the trailer...

...and just get on these sets and really geek out on the period and what it feels like...

...to be in these clothes and to feel confined by a corset.

It's what you want to do as an actor, is be in someone ease's skin.
