The Legend of Xiao Chuo

Episode 28

Go ahead.

What's Mingyi's requirements for me to go back?

How do you know that?

Hunian,

though I'm in Shatuo,

I still know everything about Shangjing City.

He wants you to cede half of your military power.

As expected.

And?

He wrote this letter in person.

He said that you can inherit

Emperor Taizong of Liao's Yongxing Palace

Oh, so he's generous.

Yongxing Palace

is mine in the first place.

After all, you were just a figurehead before,

if you can actually rule Yongxing Palace,

you will be worthy of the name, 'Taiping King'.

Do we really have to talk about these

after such a long separation?

In my eyes,

you're the most important thing in this world.

What I care about the most is after I left,

how's everything with you?

Have you been wronged?

Nothing can wrong me in Shangjing City.

Do you still remember that

I'm Queen's sister?

Yeah.

You idiot.

Mingyi is useless.

I can't believe that he has asked Yansage to come back.

He thinks that Yansage will help him?

Yansage is a hungry wolf,

just like his brother.

He treats people ruthlessly and cruelly.

If this is the case,

I should've done everything to hunt him down

when he was on the run.

I missed such a good opportunity.

Your Highness.

Xiyin.

You're still mad at me?

I know Yansage is back,

but we still have a chance.

It's too hard.

Yansage is malicious and cruel.

It's impossible for him to make the same mistake again.

He'd never let the good chance slip away.

Your Highness, do you still remember your father?

My father?

First, he was imperial brother,

then he became imperial uncle.

From Emperor Taizong of Liao to the deceased Emperor,

no one really wanted to give the throne to your father.

It was just because your father was strong and had military power,

they had to placate him.

You mean…

Everyone has the same selfishness.

I don't think Mingyi would willing

give his throne to Yansage,

and write off all their old scores.

There will be another fight between them.

The reconciliation now is nothing more than an ostensible compromise

Yes.

You're right.

You're still young,

you still have many opportunities.

My good girl.

You're always there for me

when I'm at my worst.

You comforted and supported me

when my father was gone.

I don't know how I would have

gone through those difficult days

without you and Liulishou,

You'll always be the most important person to me.

We shall never fight again in the future, okay?

Okay.

Welcome back, Your Highness.

(Taiping Palace) Welcome back, Your Highness.

(Taiping Palace)

(Taiping Palace)

We'll never be apart this time.

We'll never be apart.

(Zhangmin Palace)

Your Majesty. Your Majesty.

Taiping King is here.

You're awake, Your Majesty.

Thank you for coming back to see me, imperial uncle.

Your health condition is worse than before.

Diligu said that

my health is getting worse,

there may be only a couple of years left for me.

So after careful considerations,

instead of leaving the throne to other people,

I'd rather give it back to you.

Now that you wanna give me the throne,

then why bother going to Black mountain in the first place?

After all,

I'm one of the descendants of Emperor Taizu of Liao.

With such a good chance,

if I didn't give it a try,

I would've regretted it.

I remember that

the deceased Emperor started Mount Xianggu Rebellion,

he used the Chage Revolt

to take the throne from my father.

I believe if there's a chance like this for you,

you would've done something.

On Mount Xiangu,

when Chage killed your parents,

you were only six.

Even if you were given the throne,

could you keep it?

You're right, imperial uncle.

A child can't keep the throne.

That's why I wanna give the throne back to you.

I can make you my heir

and give Yongxing Palace back to you.

But I only have one request.

I hope you can treat Yanyan and my child kindly.

Only this request?

Yeah, only this request.

Now Yanyan is pregnant,

I…

…can't afford to lose.

Imperial uncle,

just give me a sense of security

and I'll give you a promise.

Taiping King presents himself before His Majesty.

Your Majesty, Your Highness.

Long live, Your Majesty.

You may rise.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, I'm confused about one thing.

Yansage is a rebel,

he's been on the run for a long time.

But today,

why can he swagger his way to the court

and call himself the old name 'Taiping King'?

Why don't we let Taiping King explain this?

I feel sorry and guilty

for offending His Majesty before.

Though I'm far away in Shatuo,

I still keep an eye on what's going on here.

His Majesty has seen that I'm loyal and devoted,

thus I'm allowed to come back here.

I feel very grateful

and dare not delay any minute.

I'm now willing to cede half of my military to imperial court.

Please let me serve you, Your Majesty.

Taiping King puts the country before himself,

now he's back to serve me,

I'm delighted.

Po.

Announce the imperial decree.

Zhou Dynasty used different jade to rank differnet states,

those who were in the Emperor Family would be in a higher rank.

Han Dynasty divided its territory for the peerage,

the one who got bigger territory could claim the throne.

Taiping King Yansage

plays an important role in stabilizing our society.

Now I specially grant 'imperial uncle'

and Yongxing Palace to him,

the appanage is the same as before.

The end.

Roger that.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Po, ask them to leave imperial court.

Now away, all of you.

Your Majesty. Your Highness.

Taiping King.

Gao Xun and I

have looked forward to seeing you back for a long time.

I've also been looking forward

to working for His Majesty with you two

for a long time.

Bro Gao, Bro Gao.

Aren't you supposed to thank me?

For what?

Don't take your undeserved gains for granted.

When I wrote to Taiping King,

you thought I was meddlesome,

now you know that I have foresight.

Now Taiping King is back.

When he tried to contact the imperial members,

who responded him

among all the civilian and military officers at imperial court?

I did.

Then who did I mention in the letter?

You, my Bro Gao.

Now Taiping King is back,

it's time for us two

to get a break.

Hero, you're really a hero.

As to the ability in swaying to different sides like grass on the top of a wall,

Bro Nüli indeed is one of the best in our Liao.

I don't know about what grass in your Southerners culture.

Come here and sit down.

Just admit that you owe me a favor.

Come on, let's go to see Taiping King together.

Xiyin is still watching us.

Aren't you afraid that he'll do something out of desperate?

Then what do you say?

Taiping King must be more anxious than we are.

You Highness.

I'm here to pay my respect to Your Highness.

Congratulations for coming back, Your Highness.

Your Highness, you're still so strong.

The mansion's not changed.

You're not changed.

Of course I won't change.

We've still got important things to do.

Nianmugun,

thank you for your hard work all these days.

Unfortunately, we're just one step short of success,

I'm sorry that I let Your Highness down.

I'm gonna kill these lowly people

sooner or later,

don't worry.

I've already killed everyone

who may let out our secrets.

The situation now

is quite good for us.

Your Highness, all the plots you've made

are now ready to go.

You can implement them at any time.

Look at Mingyi,

he thinks I can be satisfied

just with the "imperial uncle"?

Such being the case,

let's play the game with him.

Your Highness, then what about Xiyin?

Mingyi has asked me to be the dog that bites Xiyin,

then I'll just bark a little.

The louder we bark,

the more assured he is.

Only Mingyi rests assured

can we have a chance.

After you left,

Xiyin has been trying to be the regent.

He has been contacting with Gao Xun and Nüli frequently in secret.

I'm afraid that

the three of them have formed an alliance.

Do you know what an Emperor

fears the most since antiquity?

He's afraid that his deputies would get together

to deceive him the most.

I'll just do Mingyi a favor.

I'll disintegrate the alliance

of Xiyin, Nüli and Gao Xun.

It's not difficult.

The letter Nüli wrote to me

is a knife.

Now it's time to see

if the edge of this knife is sharp.

Your Highness.

Why is she here?

Your Highness.

Ning Princess, it's been a long time.

You still remember to pay a visit to me.

Zhimo has always kept in mind that

you once save his life.

So,

the moment we knew that you were back,

he asked me to pay a visit to you.

Your Highness has just got back from Shatuo,

must be exhausted from a long travel

and has no time to rest.

Here is a bowl of ginseng chicken soup

that I cooked on my own

and a couple of meals courses

that I learned from imperial cooks in the palace,

I hope Your Highness would like them.

Princess Ning has really spent some time on this.

Sending me a bowl of chicken soup in the morning?

Don't tell me that you cooked it

in the middle of the night.

Yilan. Yiyun.

Is there a message from Ning King?

No.

Kind of.

I think you're here for yourself,

it has nothing to do with Zhimo.

How did you figure it out?

It's obvious.

You're at the height of your youth and vigour,

but Zhimo has already been castrated.

You're stuck with him,

you have nowhere to run, you don't know what's waiting for you,

so you're here

to seek a way out,

am I right?

Please, Your Highness,

give me a chance to live.

You'll do whatever I want you to do, right?

I'll do whatever Your Highness want.

Look at your pretty face.

What a pity.

Forget it,

poor you.

Anzhi,

as long as you listen to me,

I'll keep you safe,

give you glory, splendour, wealth and rank.

Thank you for helping me, Taiping King.

Jixian.

You go to make a kowtow to your father first.

(Xiao Jixian)

(the Gravestone of Xiao Siwen)

Father, leave in peace.

We've chosen this heir for you.

His name is Jixian.

(the Gravestone of Xiao Siwen) I'll educate him properly

(the Gravestone of Xiao Siwen)

(the Gravestone of Xiao Siwen) to let him have the ability and knowledge

to let him have the ability and knowledge

to inherit our family's blood.

We three sisters

will make concerted efforts to be together,

no one can part us.

Tell me, tell me.

Hunian, stop it.

Stop it.

(the Gravestone of Xiao Siwen)

Your Highness, push hard.

Your Highness, come on.

Come on.

It'll soon be over.

Change water.

Your Highness, push hard.

Push hard.

Come on.

Your Highness, push hard.

Your Highness.

Push hard, come on.

Hunian, why is it taking so long?

It's alright. It should soon be over.

Your Highness, push hard.

Harder.

Your Highness.

Is the baby out?

Push hard, push hard.

The baby's coming out.

Push hard, the baby's almost there.

The baby's out.

It's a prince.

He's out.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

Your Highness has given birth to a prince.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

It's a prince.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

Give them rewards.

Can I go in?

Yeah.

Let's go and have a look.

Yanyan, are you alright?

You must be exhausted.

I'm okay.

Let me hold him.

He looks just like you.

We have our own child now.

Let aunt see.

Here, slowly.

Slowly.

I wanna see him, too.

Thank you for all the hard work.

There was a time

when I thought I had nothing left in the world,

I was all alone.

But ever since I met you,

I've felt more and more like I'm truly alive.

I couldn't ask for more with such a wonderful life.

But now,

we've got so many enemies,

no one can help us.

We can only use the check and balance method

to keep the enemies away from us.

It would've been better if I gave birth to a girl,

but now it's a boy,

I'm afraid that

a lot of people would wanna kill him.

If one day,

they come to realize what's actually happening here,

and they gang up on us,

then who should we turn to?

You just gave birth to our son,

don't think too much.

Have a good rest.

I've held him.

I need to put my arm around his neck.

Don't worry,

I wouldn't allow anyone to make trouble in my territory.

(the sacrificial tablet of Zhen, Princess Shizong of Liao)

Mother,

I've seen Mingyi's child today,

I feel happy for him,

but sad for myself.

I'm not in accordance with filial, I'm too stupid and impetuous

to put myself in this impasse

with no chance to get up again.

If I could act like Mingyi,

be cool and calm,

Then our imperial family,

your… your blood

would've had heirs too.

Mother,

(the sacrificial tablet of Zhen, Princess Shizong of Liao)

(the sacrificial tablet of Zhen, Princess Shizong of Liao) you were such a wise and knowledgeable person,

(the sacrificial tablet of Zhen, Princess Shizong of Liao)

but I made one mistake

which cause my a lifelong regret.

I'm not worthy to be your son.

Sorry, mother.

Sorry, father.

I'm so sorry, mother.

Zhimo,

you only think

you're sorry to your mother

and to your father,

then how about me?

I no longer ask for a child to inherit our blood,

but can't you even give me

the simplest eminence in front of other people?

Little prince is one-month old. Let everyone join in the jubilation.

Here.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

King Zhao,

even if there's something that pisses you off,

don't show it on your face.

Put it in, put it in.

Give us a baby boy.

Put it in, put it in.

Give us a little prince.

The ceremony is done.

Your Highness.

It's okay.

I'll hold him.

Is he okay?

He's alright.

Thanks to Yueliduo,

little prince is fine.

Take her to the imperial doctor.

Got it.

Where are you from?

How come I've never seen you before?

Who sent you here?

Talk.

Who sent you here to harm little prince?

Tell us.

Talk.

She's dead.

She must've taken poison in advance.

Come on.

Your Highness.

Our man couldn't steal little prince.

We failed.

Get out of here.

Your Highness.

Your Majesty.

Where's His Majesty?

I don't know.

What exactly has happened?

Why His Majesty suddenly got angry?

An accident has happened to little prince?

Unbelievable.

Your Highness,

I heard that an accident has happened to little prince.

Looks like he's destined

to suffer from calamities.

I think it's a good thing.

I'm afraid it's not natural calamity, but a man-made misfortune.

You mean…

I've never expected that idiot Xiyin

is more anxious than I think he would be.

But it's better in this way.

It gives me the chance to

kill two birds with one stone。

This accident can not only make a diversion,

but also make Mingyi determine his mind

to kill Xiyin.

Your Highness, you've already come up with a good plan?

Go to see Nüli.

Tell him this when you see him.

Mingyi.

Yanyan.

How's our child?

He's alright now, he's just fallen asleep.

But Yueduoli got burned

because of saving our child.

As long as our child is safe.

They're starting to aim at our child.

So cruel.

Ghosts Shooting Arrows

was the beginning of the action against us.

I didn't heighten my vigilance,

I was too careless.

No one knows that

they would be further intensified

instead of learning a lesson.

I'll definitely find out who's behind all these.

Yanyan, don't worry.

No matter what happens,

I'll do whatever it takes

to protect our child,

let him grow up healthily

and make you safe and happy.

Mingyi,

not until today have I realized that

if I wanna protect our child,

protect you

and protect Liao,

I have to completely let go

of that carefree and emotional Xiao Yanyan

and become a powerful queen.

Yanyan, I'll support you

no matter what you do.

I'll always be there for you.

I'll be your strongest backing.

Yuwan?

She was the maid

who almost killed little prince on the ceremony.

She used to be the maid who was responsible for simple work in palace.

Somehow,

she managed to join the ceremony.

Where were the guards in palace?

No one noticed that?

Someone must've helped Yuwan.

No matter who's behind this,

he can easily bypass

all these imperial examinations.

So for him,

the defense here is nothing.

Whoever it is must be found out.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Chubu.

I'm here.

Are there any unusual actions

from Yansage and Xiyin?

Imperial uncle goes out with Princess leisurely everyday.

Though his henchman trains their troops diligently,

that man has never left the training camp.

As for King Zhao,

he has gathered troops in his mansion recently,

and has been to Gao Xun's mansion more frequently.

He's using the death of Xiao Siwen

to threat Gao Xun.

Xiyin is an idiot,

he is no match for Gao Xun.

I don't believe Yansage

is so calm about the birth of little prince.

Keep a close watch on both of them.

If anything happens,

tell me immediately.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, it's time for you to take your decoction.

Your Majesty, no matter how busy national affairs are,

you still need to rest.

Medication is not a long-term solution.

I know.

It's just these days,

Queen needs to rest quietly to recuperate.

Let me take the responsibility more.

Why his temperature is so high?

Ask Han Kuangsi to come here right away.

Yes, Your Highness.

(Kaihuang Gate)

(Kaihuang Gate)

Imperial uncle.

Why are you here too?

I heard that His Majesty is sick,

I'm quite worried.

So I come here to see His Majesty.

The health condition of His Majesty

indeed is worrying.

When I was in Shatuo,

I visited lots of famous doctors,

I just thought that

if I could see His Majesty again one day,

I'd be able to solve his problem.

Dilie, take good care of Wage.

He's now the only descendant left

of our Taizong Family.

Great hopes

are gonna be placed on him in the future from our Family.

What he just said

seems to have other meaning.

Yansage is quite scheming,

he's trying to make you fall into his trap.

Forget it.

You just need to know that

he has never

seen you as his brother.

Besides, he's just come back here.

No one knows

what's going on here.

And His Majesty is sick.

At this time,

we mustn't get too close to him.

You have to think of Wage more.

Just live our peaceful life.

Yansage, His Majesty has just got sick

and you've already lost your patience, right?

What exactly are you trying to do?

Did I say anything wrong again?

Why are you scolding me?

What you just said to Dilie

obviously meant something else.

I was just making fun of him.

Dilie just wanna reap without sowing.

I wouldn't do anything with him.

You're already the imperial uncle.

And in Liao Dynasty, imperial uncle has always been the first heir.

As long as you wait patiently,

the throne will be yours.

I know you have ambition,

but don't try to let me, Yanyan or Wuguli become part of it,

nor their children.

Don't worry.

Your sisters are my family, too.

I'm just not resigned.

To what?

What I'm not resigned to the most is that

Dilie has his own son.

Xiyin has his own son.

Even that invalid Mingyi

has his own son.

Then what about me? Where is my son?

There's no time for you

to make irresponsible and carping comments.

Try to let that idiot Dilie join us.

I understand.

What's going on?

His Majesty has spleen deficiency, damp-heat

and vigorous fire of liver-gallbladder,

which should be caused by overworking.

I'll prepare some medicine right away.

Thank you, the King of Yan.
