Episode 31

Greetings to Grandmother.

I asked you two to come.

Why do you come alone?

She is not feeling well.

Please forgive us.

I am being senile again.

I forgot that.

She is pregnant now.

But

I’m always worried about her.

Bring it here.

Look.

I asked someone to make it.

Take it as the first gift

for your child.

Thank you, Grandmother.

All right.

Go back now.

Spend more time with her.

Yes.

I want to know,

are you really

looking forward to this child?

It’s not like that.

I like Aoyi

not because

she is pregnant with the child of the Li family.

After all, there are a lot of people in the Palace.

What we need is dynamic people.

This golden-made Palace

is like a cage.

We enjoy bliss here

but lost our freedom.

However, Long Aoyi

is like a weed in the Palace.

She is trampled and torn,

but she survived tenaciously.

She is like Cui back then.

The Emperor loved her and spoiled her,

he even forgot about the nation.

The thought of it

makes me sad.

All right, it’s over now.

What matters is the person in front of you.

You must keep this treasure in good watch.

Duly noted.

Any news?

No.

Skinny and I have mobilized our brothers

to search everywhere she hangs out.

How should we do?

Prince Jun is summoned into the Palace,

if she comes back

and I go out to find her...

Don’t worry.

I can still search every house.

If we can’t find her, let’s go to Silver City

and search the whole country

through our brothers of canal transport.

We must find Master Long!

Yes.

Master, where did you go?

How’s it going?

Ezi has done it.

Do you see it clearly?

I didn’t see the belly clearly.

But

there was ceiba falling out.

I don’t know what’s in her belly.

Prince Jun walked up to it and took a look,

then he followed up.

Didn’t see it clearly?

Let’s go to Prince Jun’s Mansion now.

Prince Jun’s Mansion

Prince Jun’s Mansion Master has not returned yet.

We have searched the whole city but couldn’t find her.

You must do something about it!

Hush.

Miss Du has arrived.

We have to wait for them to leave.

Right?

Xiaoqin.

Listen to me.

Don’t worry.

When did anything happen to Master Long?

Right? It’s okay.

The old wound of her has not healed!

She left being dressed up like that

and didn’t take anything she usually wore.

How could she be okay?

Xiaoqin, take it easy.

Impulse is the devil.

Don’t worry, calm down.

All right?

Qingliu.

Qingliu?

I learned a golden salmon

in the Palace today.

Try it.

Xiaoxian.

Qingliu.

The weather changes quickly.

It’s sunny in the day,

and it rains hard at night.

Isn’t the fate of people the same?

We used to be childhood sweethearts,

now your heart doesn’t belong to me.

Prince Jun’s Mansion

I’m afraid

Lady Long has to stay in the Palace tonight.

Qingliu.

This thunder is too scary.

Can you stay with me for a while?

Leave me alone!

- Go away! - Xiaoqin.

Prince Jun!

Get me the raincoat.

Master.

Hurry up.

Let’s go.

Thank you, Xiaoxian.

It’s my fault. I didn’t know how to say it.

But you said it for me.

I already knew

I don’t have your heart.

What’s the use of keeping you?

It’s like this rain.

The more you want to grab it,

the quicker it slips away.

Go ahead.

Prince Jun’s Mansion

It suddenly thundered and rained.

I just want to find someplace

with eaves to avoid the rain.

You don’t need to drive me away. I’ll leave now.

- Well... - Well...

You go ahead.

I...

I wanted to tell you several times.

But watching you

get edged out,

if it is revealed that I am not pregnant,

I’m afraid...

Afraid of what?

Yan Bin and I

came to the capital with nothing to lose,

will we fear those who have something to lose?

At the worst

I can go back to Silver City to do my own business.

It’s good to stock up at Jia’ermu.

It was better then.

What did you say?

The fake pregnancy

is between us.

If it gets out,

you are going to be beheaded.

Well, are you going to cover me up?

Otherwise?

You and I are on the same boat.

I won’t let it happen.

What a prince.

You are still a businessman inside.

Yeah.

You are

the most precious goods I have.

Am I only your goods?

How are you going to sell it?

Hoard first

like those profiteers.

Then sell it at a good price

when the good times come.

Fine by me.

I have legs and hands anyway.

I can run away if it doesn’t sell well.

I won’t let you go

this time.

But...

Are you worried about Xiaoxian?

I have made my mind

clear to her.

I will go to my father

and let him take back his order.

But...

There is no but.

I will solve

all of your concerns.

From now on,

there will be no more

concealment and lie

between you and me.

Okay.

Miss.

Did you really agree

to break the engagement with Prince Jun?

Otherwise?

Don’t you know

what kind of a person Qingliu is?

Once he wants to do something,

he will definitely do it.

Even if I don’t agree now,

he won’t compromise.

I might as well say yes.

There still might be

a chance to change it.

You mean...

Today I saw Long Aoyi.

The more I think there is something wrong with her pregnancy.

So...

If she is not pregnant,

even if Qingliu is bewitched by her,

the other people in the Palace won’t spare her.

Well,

let’s go to find them now.

From Qingliu’s reaction,

he seems to know something.

I have to wait for the opportunity

and expose her in front of everyone.

Prince Jun’s Mansion

I know if it weren’t for your master,

you would never want to be Lady Long.

Miss?

In order to

see you every day,

Prince Jun even makes you move next to his room.

I think he wants to

sleep with you on one bed every day.

Where is he now?

He saw you sleeping soundly,

so he didn’t bear to wake you up.

He said he would pick you up when you are awake.

Take you to Qinglong Temple to pray.

What is this?

I know

if it weren’t for your master,

you would never want to be Lady Long.

You have to mind all these red tapes every day.

I promise you,

after I finish these affairs these days,

I will find a chance to ask my father

to let us leave.

By that time

you can go wherever you want.

I will always be with you,

only with you.

We will

live a carefree life.

And, Long Aoyi.

I love you.

This,

this is Prince Jun’s

affectionate confession to you?

Get out.

Get out.

- Don’t be shy! - Get out.

Qinglong Temple

Daxiong Palace

There are so many temples in Chang’an,

why do we have to come here?

Qinglong Temple was built in Taizong period.

There are Buddhist relics

of Gautama Buddha in the temple,

so the people of Chang’an

and the royal family members come here to pray for blessing.

Amitabha.

Benefactress, please do not enter the main hall.

Master.

We want to pray for blessing

and make a donation.

Why can’t we come forward?

You misunderstand me.

I notice that this benefactress

is pregnant.

There is musk in the incense.

It will volatilize when it’s burning,

and it will harm the fetus.

Therefore, I ask this benefactress

to worship Buddha in the side hall.

Thank you for reminding us.

I’ll wait for you in the side hall.

What’s good about this temple?

Xiaoqin.

Get the carriage ready.

I will go back in a while.

Don’t we wait for Prince Jun?

I’ll go to find him later.

You prepare it first.

Okay.

Obsessed apprentice, now you are here.

I’ll make you reborn.

Cut off

your and past in the future.

Why is Long not here?

- Master, she might... - Qingliu.

I seemed to see

an old monk healing another strange monk.

Strange monk?

Yes.

He was lying on the bed.

The other old monk was giving him acupuncture.

The monk who was pierced

looks horrible.

There are red marks all over his body.

Are you sure you saw it clearly?

How about we go and have a look?

Long.

Don’t forget why we are here.

Let’s go back first

since we have prayed for blessing.

Miss, the carriage is ready.

Hurry up.

This song is made by Emperor Ming.

Back then,

Cui was not familiar with pipa.

She can only play this song.

Come here.

How do you think about

the Lofty Moon I just played?

You played it beautifully.

But Cui played it

affectionately.

Qingliu said nothing,

but he must

blame me

for not protecting his mother well.

She ended up with

dying alone far from home.

What’s gone is gone. Please don’t blame yourself.

But Qingliu is indeed talented.

Although he made slight omission

in the water transportation,

with some cultivation,

he will definitely make huge achievement.

Exactly.

Come on.

Let me make a toast to you.

Good.

The meeting will end if there is no report!

Your Majesty, I have something to report.

Go ahead.

According to Celestial Bureau,

the Dragon Star moves to the east.

It’s time to hold Qiuxian, the autumn hunting.

Qiuxian

is Tang’s ritual to welcome autumn.

Arrange it well.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Father, I think

the northern rebels are not solved yet,

it’s not a good time

to kill now.

Father, I have something to say.

The hunting events in the four seasons

are for demonstrating Tang’s force

and national prestige. We never missed one hunting.

Now the border is in turmoil,

if the royal family of Tang

cancels the hunting this time,

it might make those foreigners have evil thoughts.

I think we must

hold the event on time.

Prince Zhao also has a point.

Prime Minister, what do you say?

Your Majesty.

I think we can hold the event.

But we can

reduce its size this year.

How about holding it

at the small hunting ground in Nanyuan on the hill behind?

Not bad.

Prime Minister

gave consideration to both sides.

Pass my order.

Qiuxian will be

held in Nanyuan hunting ground this year.

Crown Prince, Prince Jun, Prince Zhao.

- Yes, Father. - Yes, Father.

In Qiuxian ceremony,

the three of you each lead a team.

Whoever hunts the most preys

will be the winner.

I have a great reward for him.

- Yes, Father. - Yes, Father.

Did His Majesty say

Qiuxian ceremony

will be held in Nanyuan this year?

Yes, Your Grace.

His Majesty also proposed that

the Crown Prince,

Prince Zhao and Prince Jun

each leads a team.

Whoever hunts the most will win.

Prince Zhao is skilled in archery and horsemanship.

He never missed the target.

This time

he will make a figure in front of His Majesty.

Nanyuan is smaller than the

hunting ground before.

What rare prey can there be?

You are right.

Unless

the snow-white deer in the legend

will appear.

It will be

auspicious to catch it.

White deer?

You reminded me.

Sometimes the legend

is not all imaginary.

It might come true.

Your Grace, you mean...

I’ll see you off

this time.

God bless the fate of Tang!

Qiuxian this year

officially begins!

I heard there is a white deer

in Nanyuan.

Whiteness doesn’t only apply to the immortal,

but also to deer.

Tang

This is for seeking luck,

why don’t you throw?

Not interested.

Instead of littering,

I might as well take a hound and a goshawk,

and ride the horse.

This is your fault.

Look at Xiaoxian.

She is not the wife of Qingliu yet.

She knows how to manage her reputation now.

Her praying dance

is pretty good.

I can also do the praying dance.

Have you heard of the five-animal exercises?

Imitate five animals

to regulate the five internal organs.

Are you talking about

Hua Tuo’s five-animal exercises?

It’s popular among the people.

Let me teach you.

They are going to do five-animal exercises.

It sounds fun.

I also want to go.

- Let’s go. - Let’s take a look.

- Let’s go. - Come on.

What happened?

Your Highness, Qingliu,

there seems to be something wrong with my saddle.

I need to adjust it.

Bad luck for you,

the reward will be mine.

Don’t blame me for not letting you win.

Your Highness, I’m still here.

Seems that Prince Jun is also confident.

You go first.

I will catch up later.

Why would my saddle

go wrong?

Hurry up and change my saddle!

Draw your waist, raise your head.

Yes, this is tiger.

This action is good for the waist.

Very good.

Lift the hip.

The Princess even falls for

this kind of cheap trick.

That’s right.

Not bad.

You Grace, the white deer appeared

as they set off.

The Crown Prince chased it with Prince Jun.

When the white deer shows up, something good will happen.

Climb.

Climb.

This move is very good for the spine.

Let’s climb.

Come on.

What is this?

This...

Isn’t it

the quiver of the Crown Prince?

Yes.

The Crown Prince is in poor health,

so they made a lightweight

quiver specially for him.

Why is it here?

Who’s that person?

The one beside Concubine De.

He might be from the Pang family.

Also a member of the Shence Army of the Imperial Guards.

Being short

also has advantages.

Why did the hook for stealing money bag

appear in the Palace?

No.

Maybe someone uses it because

most people in the Palace

don’t know about it.

What were you looking for?

I’m here to get the chessboard.

The concubines and Concubine De want to play chess.

I noticed that you were looking around.

I thought you were looking for something.

Thank you.

I’ll leave now.

The hook is gone.

It seems that

Concubine De changed the Crown Prince’s quiver.

Qingliu.

The white deer leads us to this place.

It’s pretty cunning. Shoot it in the neck.

Don’t let it run.

Let’s keep it alive and dedicate it to Father.

I’ll outflank it. Shoot its legs.

Okay.

Today I’ll be the winner.

Be careful!

Long!

Long!

Long!

Long!

I am hit by the arrow.

I will die soon.

Don’t be silly, you’ll be fine.

I hate it.

I couldn’t be

a rich man

like you in this life.

Can you

fulfill my last wish?

Can you give me a thousand taels of silver?

At least I can have some money

on my way to the underground.

It doesn’t matter if there is no cash.

You can write me an IOU.

By the way, I still want...

Are you done?

I’m fine.

My child is so nice.

He warded off the arrow for me.

Can you still

make jokes now?

Right.

I’m here to tell you about this arrow.

Look.

There they are.

Qingliu, did you...

I was frightened and I fell off the horse.

Look, I am fine.

Great.

You scared me.

Sorry for making you worried.

I’m relieved to see you are fine.

Let’s go.

Come on.

I threw the arrow

in this direction.

Why is it missing?

Do you suspect the subordinate of Concubine De

changed the quiver of the Crown Prince?

I was afraid of being questioned by the Crown Prince

about the arrow in my hand,

so I threw the arrow away

in a hurry.

There is something wrong about the arrow.

Even it has something wrong,

we can’t make sure that Concubine De did it.

Besides,

why would Concubine De kill me through the Crown Prince?

I rarely make mistakes about people.

The guard beside Concubine De must have a problem.

Is she behind everything in the Palace

and related to the koi pendant?

If it’s Concubine De,

she has

the entire Pang family to support her.

There must be positive evidence

to bring her down.

Evidence?

I heard that Chongwen Hall

has all the information about the concubines.

I’ll check it.

Chongwen Hall is not some place you can get in as you want.

I’ll find a way.

You look down on me. Wait and see.

He didn’t die.

Cui’s wicked son

is pretty lucky.

Your Grace. Don’t be angry.

We led the Crown Prince and him to chase the white deer

and found the right spot.

But Long Aoyi

suddenly showed up and ruined it.

Well...

There was nothing we can do.

Did you find the arrow?

It’s filled with mercury.

We can’t let other people get it.

Not yet.

But we have checked that

Li Qingliu doesn’t have it.

You adjusted the shoes of Prince Zhao,

did he notice it?

I don’t think so.

Prince Zhao just entered the Palace to see you.

Hearing you are uncomfortable,

he just went back.

Keep looking for that arrow.

Yes.

Have you checked out

the person I asked you

to investigate yesterday?

Pang Dahai, from the Pang family.

He was promoted by Concubine De

and has been working in the Imperial Guard in the harem.

I checked it.

There is nothing wrong.

Shence Army and Jinwu Guards

perform our own duties without interfering with each other.

So there is

no other news yet.

Can you bring

this person to see me?

He took a sick leave

and left the Palace yesterday.

It’s not sure when he will come back.

Could it just be a coincidence?

It’s inconvenient for me to ask.

If you need me,

I’m willing to help you anytime.

Thank you, General Lyu.

Palace Gathering

From now on,

this is the gathering place.

Good.

It’s hot now.

The gnats and bugs are all out.

This is Concubine De’s personal maid.

Palace Gathering

What is this? Don’t you know the rules?

Take it down!

Mei is pretty powerful.

You can ignore me now.

You have changed too much. Sorry for not recognizing you.

Why do you want to take the plate down?

Palace Gathering

Concubine De is in charge of the harem.

I’m just sharing worries for Her Grace.

You!

When the cat’s away,

the mice will play.

What nonsense are you talking about?

Come on, take the plate down!

Stop!

Let me see who is acting unruly

in Xingqing Palace!

Lady Long is pregnant with the heir of the Prince.

Her Qinglong Firm is helping the court

investigate the lack of food.

Mei, no matter how powerful your master is,

she can’t be the master of the royal family!

This is...

My seal.

I’ll lend it to you for now.

Take it and stamp it on that wooden plate.

Let me see who would dare to bully you again.

Your Highness.

You should lend me your knees.

What happened?

Nothing.

I just think of an elder.

She treated me very well

just like you.

Then you should pay filial piety to her.

You are a member of the royal family.

Why don’t you get her here

and settle her well?

Why are you shaking your head?

She couldn’t come.

She has passed away.

What a nostalgic good girl.

Yes.

I have come to the Palace for so long.

The Palace Gathering is established.

But there is no progress at all.

Master.

You must bless me in the heaven

to find the murderer quickly.

Come on, have a look.

Take whichever

you like.

Her Highness noticed that you are sad,

she knows you like

these rare objects.

She gives up her treasures specially for you.

It even makes me

a little jealous.

Your Highness, don’t mind.
