Today I'll be teaching you new bots how the reboot process works.

First, we take something humans no longer want.

Like that old jug.

That's right, Doug.

Then we scan the jug to find out what we can turn it into that humans will want.

Then we press this button and that old jug becomes...

-A new pail. -Right again, son.

-Then we take the brand-new pail-- -[beeping]

-Uh, uh, we take the new pail and, uh-- -[beeping]

Okay?

[beeping]

Psst. Dad, look.

-Boop, boop. Ah! Beep, beep. -Oh! It's just a Critter Bot.

These little robot creatures live all around Rebots.

Hi, little bot. Where did you get this dish?

Uh, probably from the warehouse.

I rebooted it earlier today out of an old helmet.

It's called a pet dish.

"Pet"? I've never heard that word before. What does it mean?

Hmm. You know, I'm not sure, son.

Time to plug in to find out.

I'm excited to help because I wanna know, why do people have pets?

And sometimes stinky, but in, like, a totally adorable way.

I mean, just look how happy they are when it's time to feed them.

The only problem is that Princess Woofingham kinda chewed up her old one.

Looks like she gave it a reboot.

[chuckles] Good thing you came with this new one.

[grunting]

I don't want an actual hand, Doug.

I mean can you help me lift this bag?

[both groaning]

[laughs] My sensors indicate pets can also make you laugh.

[yelps, chirps]

Maybe I can make it more robot-y.

Guess Princess Woofingham is done eating too.

So what does she want now, Emma?

That's another important and amazingly fun part of taking care of pets.

Would you look at that? It's Doug and his best bud.

What are you delivering today? Something good?

Something amazing!

It's an item that makes humans go really fast.

-A jetpack? -A car powered by a jetpack?

Better. It's these things called running shoes.

-[echoing] Shoes, shoes. -[whines, sniffing]

-[barking] -Princess Woofingham, come back!

Yowzah! And I thought these shoes could run.

Uh-oh. I think she's trying to get in the house.

And it looks like your dad still hasn't found his lucky shoes.

No. No, Princess Woofingham! We can't go inside.

-[panting] -Whoa! Uh-huh.

Oh! Good idea, Critter Bot.

We can take her for a walk instead.

Oh, do dogs like walks?

-Dogs live for walks, Doug! -[howls]

Wow, that's another thing pets do. They keep you really active.

This pooch needs a good cleaning.

How do we clean a dog?

We clean dogs by giving them baths.

Really? We're going to put Princess Woofingham in one of those?

We gotta get you clean.

[laughing]

They can make you laugh and play.

They can even take care of you, like when they find your lucky shoes.

But most of all, they love you just as much as you love them.

They're animals that you take care of.

And today, I learned all about how to do it.

You feed pets... and you play with them.

Ah! [chittering]

And you have to keep them clean.

[beeping]

But most importantly, you give them love, and they give you love back.

-[purring] -Kind of like this.

Aw, I had such a fun day with you, little bot.

Great gears! Maybe this little Critter Bot could be our pet.

That's a wonderful idea, Doug.

Looks like our little robo-family has added a new member.

[purrs]

All right, Doug, today we're nature photographers,

so we're gonna take pictures of all the amazing critters in my backyard.

-Is that a critter, Emma? -Yeah! It's a squirrel, Doug.

[clicks]

-And there's a ladybug, a bird. -[camera clicking]

-An incredibly furry and beautiful dog. -[camera clicks]

-Quack, quack! -Ooh! I think I see another bird.

[quacking]

[gasps] Doug, that's not just a bird.

That's the most adorable baby duckling I've ever seen.

In fact, he's so cute that I just gotta...

somersault in adorableness!

[quacks]

I wonder where he came from.

So, what do we make first, Emma?

It's up to Quackerino. His quack is our command.

[quacking]

Uh-oh. That doesn't sound like a happy quack.

[Emma shouting] Whoa!

[Doug groans] I don't think he's happy here!

Phew. Gotcha.

You know, Emma, I'm starting to think ducks and crafts don't mix.

Yeah, but then how else can we make this duck a home?

[gasps] What about Rebots?

We robots don't craft, but we can make almost anything.

Great idea, Doug. Let's go!

[chuckles] Right after we do a quick cleanup.

As you can see, all sorts of robots live and work here.

Including my dad.

This is our new friend Quackerino.

He's a duck, Dad. They don't shake hands.

[quacking]

We're trying to find a home for him,

and we thought we could make him one here in Rebots.

A fantastic idea, son. You could use one of our hi-tech reboot booths.

All we need is the right item to reboot and presto!

So, uh, what would you like us to make first, Mr. Quackerino?

-Whoa! -Uh-oh.

He must've waddled off.

Oh, that's not good.

That little duck could be anywhere on our big factory floor.

[together] We gotta find him!

-[Doug] Quackerino. -[quacks]

-[Emma] Quackerino? -[quacking]

I'm not sure Rebots is a great place to make a home for a duck either.

Yeah, but if Quackerino can't live in my house or your house,

where can he live?

Emma, we've been trying to make Quackerino's home inside.

But maybe we should make him a home outside.

[quacking]

According to my data, it looks like ducks do live outside in ponds.

Ah! [quacking]

Ponds! Of course! They're always outside.

Superb researching, son,

and if you wanna make a pond, well, I've got just the thing to use.

-[groaning] -You're right, Mr. Bot.

That kiddie pool is perfect for our pond.

[grunts]

And this is the perfect place to put a pond.

[quacking]

Don't worry, Quackerino. We're gonna make you a home right here.

It's time to build this pond.

I'll be in charge of the water.

Quackerino, welcome to Rebots Pond, your new home.

[quacking]

We did it, Emma. I think we finally made the right home for our duck.

[quacking]

[Emma] Or maybe not, Doug.

He still doesn't seem very happy.

But we matched our pond to the picture. Maybe we need more lily pads.

-Or logs, or reeds. -Or water?

Water drones, one more bucket, please.

[gasps] Oh, no!

Ooh. [stammering] Not that much.

[quacking] Whoa!

[quacking, sighs]

Oh, Doug. What are we gonna do? Our homemade pond didn't work.

Yeah. How will we ever find a good home for the duck?

-[beeping] -Um, Doug, what's your antenna doing?

-It's picking something up. -Mm?

I-- I can hear a sound. I'll transmit it through my speak ears.

Doug, ducks! Those are ducks, Doug.

I think Quackerino recognizes them.

And the way to get a duck to follow us is to walk like a duck.

When it comes to an animal's home,

a natural habitat has everything it truly needs.

And we're nature photographers.
