Episode 25

Your Majesty!

-Your Majesty! -Go save Prime Minister Siwen!

Your Majesty!

Go.

Go save Prime Minister Siwen!

Your Majesty, let's leave!

-Prime Minister Siwen! -It's too dangerous here!

Your Majesty, you have to leave!

Your Majesty, let's go!

Prime Minister Siwen!

-Let's go! -Prime Minister Siwen!

-Prime Minister Siwen! -Let's go!

Protect His Majesty!

Protect His Majesty!

Why is there another group of assassins?

Let's go.

Your Majesty.

Please forgive me

for arriving late.

Your Majesty,

Prime Minister Siwen has been seriously injured,

he might not make it.

Prime Minister Siwen!

Prime Minister Siwen!

I know what you mean.

I promise you,

I will take good care of Yanyan,

take good care of the Xiao family.

Prime Minister Siwen!

Prime Minister Siwen!

We must get to the bottom of this.

Two important ministers have passed away one after another.

God didn't bless our country.

Your Majesty,

Prime Minister Siwen has been dressed.

Maybe you should come tomorrow.

Your Majesty,

what about the Queen and the Princess Taiping?

Lockdown the news.

Never,

don't ever tell the Queen.

Yes.

Father!

Father!

How can you

leave us like this?

What should we do without you?

-Wuguli. -Father!

Father!

Wuguli.

Don't be too sad.

I'm worried about your condition.

Father!

Wuguli.

Father!

Father!

Your Majesty, Your Majesty!

Please find out who did this.

Your Majesty!

Father!

Father!

Your Majesty, you have to mind your own health.

Let's come back tomorrow.

Father!

Ever since the death of Emperor Taizu Abaoji,

among the three branches of Taizu,

there's been a lot of disputes.

In any case,

we have to protect Prince Xian

to maintain the bloodline for Ren Huangwang.

King Shouan,

if you can guarantee the safety of Mingyi,

Zhimo and Hugudian,

then the queen's family

will support you with your succession.

Prime Minister Siwen.

They are the descendants of the late Emperor.

I will take care of them with all my heart.

We Khitan men value most about our words.

Could you

(Emperor Taizong, Taizu, Dongdan; Empress Zhangde, Zhenlie) make a solemn oath in front of

(Emperor Taizong, Taizu, Dongdan; Empress Zhangde, Zhenlie) tablets of our ancestors and late Emperors?

My father, he died...

Father!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

What else have you done?

What the heck you're talking about?

There were assassins aiming for His Majesty today.

Was that from you?

Besides that defense map,

I didn't do nothing!

You!

No.

There must be someone else.

They were after His Majesty.

They?

So what do we do now?

What is done is done.

We shall not act rashly.

We have to be ourselves

and wait for the changes.

Your Majesty.

Let's return to Shangjing.

This grief today consumed you too much.

Maybe you should rest for a couple more days.

I said,

return to Shangjing.

His Majesty has arrived.

Your Majesty.

It's okay.

What happened to your hand?

Did the attendants

not serve you well?

It has nothing to do with them.

It was me.

I hurt myself accidentally.

Come sit down.

Princess Taiping, please have a seat.

Where's father?

Why didn't he come here with you?

Prime Minister Siwen got too tired on the way.

I told him to go back home first.

Otherwise the Queen will blame me again

for not taking good care of my father-in-law.

Without you and father here with me,

I couldn't sleep at night.

I had the feeling that something's about to happen.

It must be the baby.

Now His Majesty and father are back.

You can relax.

Right, Princess Taiping is right.

Yanyan is too worried.

By the way,

in a few days,

it'll be Prime Minister Siwen's birthday.

I have been too busy

to choose the right gift for him.

Now that Princess Taiping is here,

why don't you

join me and take a look.

-Sure. -I can do it.

You are pregnant now.

You have to get some more rest.

Princess Taiping,

come with me.

Have some rest.

I mentioned it to Yanyan as well,

this year will be father's 60th birthday.

It's also his first birthday

after the three of us got married.

I think maybe we should...

What's wrong, Your Majesty?

I,

I have something to tell you.

Father!

How could this happen?

Where's Yanyan?

I

haven't told her

yet.

I hope

you two can keep it as a secret

for now.

How could this happen?

Father!

You don't tell her now,

when she finds out

in the future,

she'll resent you for it.

I know.

But now she is pregnant.

Who is gone is gone.

I can't let anything happen

to Yanyan and our baby.

If she resents me

for it,

I will have to take it.

Father!

Brother Gao, stop playing!

Just do something!

Should we

hand over Haizhi and Haili those two idiots

to them?

This is not the time yet.

If we make a move

before we find out

who's behind this,

then we might be used by others.

We have to wait until things change.

Let's see who'll lose it first.

You must have figured out who it is.

Just tell me!

Do you remember back in Black Mountain,

how did His Majesty

manage to get everything under control?

Who will benefit the most if His Majesty is gone?

Think about it.

King Taiping was not in Shangjing.

He wouldn't make it.

There's only one person

who can benefit most directly from this.

King Zhao.

He wants

to kill two birds with one stone. Brilliant.

Brother Gao.

Thank you for the information.

Brother Nüli,

you and I are on this together.

You don't have to be too polite.

But you must remember,

never act rashly.

Or you might trip yourself.

Your Excellency,

it was a bad year for the farmers.

Please say something nice for us

in front of the king.

Maybe he would reduce the land rent a bit?

(Iron shop)

I got it.

Thank you very much.

Recently,

don't go to the capital.

Things are uneasy there.

What happened?

Prime Minister has been killed.

His Majesty has been searching for the assassins.

Well, we have to be careful then.

Xiao Siwen is dead?

Yes.

I heard they bumped into the assassins

during the hunt.

They've been keeping it

from the Queen.

His Majesty is concerned

she might get over emotional.

Yeah.

After all, she is now

pregnant with His Majesty's child.

I heard a few days ago,

the Queen offended you two?

Concubine Xige.

You come to us with all this,

what do you want?

You have lived

of care and reverence for the whole life.

Now His Majesty is finally in place.

There are no one

above you now.

Who doesn't want to live

a happy and decent life?

Do you really

have to take cues from the young?

Do you want to

live under her control?

Xige, aren't you the smart one?

I know you are not of bad intentions.

Besides, Prime Minister Siwen

was indeed dead.

The only one to be blamed would be the Queen herself for her carelessness.

It has nothing to do with others.

When Prime Minister Siwen died,

the biggest beneficiaries

would be Haizhi and Haili.

But there's a big fish behind it.

Master.

I got it from my eyes

in Haizhi's mansion.

It should be valid.

His Majesty's hunt in Lüshan

had been heavily guarded.

If the assassins didn't know in advance

about the defense deployment,

they wouldn't have done it that easily.

And Nüli

was responsible for the deployment in Lüshan.

Did he also want to...?

You mean Nüli

planned the assassination on His Majesty by himself?

Prime Minister Siwen

once advised to His Majesty

about cutting down

the power of Gao Xun and Nüli.

Maybe besides Nüli,

Gao Xun was also involved.

No wonder none of the assassins

was left alive.

Master,

they've planned to shut their mouths for good.

It's an opportunity.

As long as we have the evidence,

Nüli and Gao Xun

will have to listen to us.

Qingge.

Qingge?

What's the matter, Your Highness?

Why are you always distracted today?

She didn't sleep well last night.

She's probably tired.

Go get the new baby clothes

we made yesterday

to Her Highness.

She

looks weird today.

Is there something on her mind?

No.

Your Highness, everything is fine.

We're about to have the little Prince.

We have nothing to worry about.

Two princesses,

you can't go in.

You can't go in!

You can't go in

with that news! You can't...

Let us in.

We are just concerned about the Queen.

What happened is a tragedy.

What's up?

It's nothing, Your Highness.

You are pregnant now.

You should have some good rest.

Don't pay attention to those who have bad intentions.

Let us in!

Your Highness.

Shuanggu!

Don't let anyone disturb Her Highness!

-OK. -Your Highness.

Let the two Princesses in.

Your Highness!

I can't let you in.

What happened is such a tragedy,

the Queen must be devastated.

We care about her.

Poor kid,

don't be sad.

Don't feel too bad.

Two princesses,

what is it so important

that you have to

come let me know in person?

You didn't know?

If you have something to say,

just say it.

Now the whole palace

knew

Prime Minister Siwen

was killed in Lüshan.

Your Highness!

Your Highness!

Your Highness. Your Highness!

Your Highness. Your Highness!

Go get His Majesty and the doctor!

Go!

Your Highness!

Your Highness.

Father.

Yanyan, you are awake.

You all knew about it, didn't you?

Why are you hiding it from me?

Now you're pregnant,

I'm worried about your health.

I told you.

You granted my father too much power.

It would only make him the target of others.

It would put him in danger.

You didn't listen.

You promised

you would take care of my father.

It was all on you.

I want to go home.

I want to go see my father.

I will go with you.

You don't have to come.

Except for our own family members,

no one should be allowed to come.

Po.

Who told her

about this?

It was Concubine Xige who egged on two Princesses

for them to rush into the palace

and tell the Queen.

Pass down my words.

The two princesses can move to the partial palace for rest.

Without my permission,

none of them can leave.

As for Concubine Xige,

send her to the deserted palace.

Yes.

Sister.

Do something about it.

Do something!

What can we do now?

This time,

we made a mistake.

What should we do?

Sister.

Mingyi.

You are so cruel.

How can you do this to us?

(King Wei's mansion)

Father!

(Tablet of Prime Minister Siwen)

Yanyan.

Why are you here?

If I don't come,

then I won't

be able to see farther for the last time.

Sister.

I don't have a father now.

Father's gone.

Father hadn't seen

my baby yet.

He said he would

name my baby.

Yanyan, don't cry.

You are pregnant.

It's not good for you to cry like this.

If father knows, he wouldn't want you to be like this.

Ever since I was a kid,

I always made father angry.

He was always worried about me.

I was always his concern.

He had to clean up the mess for me.

But I always thought,

I still had time.

I didn't know

we didn't have much time

with father and me.

Yanyan.

Don't cry, don't cry.

Can you

leave me alone here

with father for a while?

OK.

Let's leave.

Xiao Yanyan, listen.

In the future, if you

keep acting arbitrarily,

I won't spare you.

You are all going to marry

boys

from the three branches of Emperor Taizu.

This is our responsibility as Queen's family.

No one can change that.

You are a big girl now.

You're getting married, too.

You should change

that childlike temper.

If anything bad happens to you,

remember what I told you,

there is no obstacle that cannot be overcome.

You are the child of Tengri.

You can't be like those South girls,

all tearful and sad.

You named second sister's

Liulishou.

My child

has to get its name from you.

During this trip to Lüshan,

I will really think about it.

I will come back with a beautiful name

for my little grandson.

The moment I knew,

I will catch

the real murderer of Prime Minister Siwen's death，

to let Prime Minister rest in peace.

What do you mean?

This was a deliberate plot?

That's why I came here.

I'll get to the bottom of this.

Brother Derang.

Thank you.

Your Highness is my master and I am your minister.

We have to follow

the right courtesy.

I need to go find out about the case.

Now, if you excuse me.

It's cold and dewy.

I'm tired.

These were the assassins

killed at the scene.

Some of them were determined.

Committed suicide with poison after being caught.

We've checked

both their handprints and footprints.

Nothing came up.

You said

they committed suicide by poison?

These two commited suicide.

Those two were killed.

Dalin.

What's up?

Look.

When I was in Youzhou,

I captured one assassin.

He has

the same tattoo.

They're from an organization called

Gyrfalcon.

Gyrfalcon?

Yes.

These two doesn't have that mark.

This one over here does.

Most of these people

should have

the tattoo of Gyrfalcon.

Derang.

Gyrfalcon...

where you are going with this?

The Gyrfalcon has a strict hierarchy.

All members are tattooed.

Outsiders can't get in their group.

Those assassins without the tattoos

have calluses at their knuckles.

When I came in,

I noticed for members of Gyrfalcon,

they have thick calluses

on their hands.

Mostly on the finger ends

and center of the palms.

You mean

Gyrfalcon's assassins were used to using knives.

Those who don't have tattoos

used to use bow and arrow.

Yes.

What about their clothes?

Have you checked those?

We did.

They were all in the same clothes.

We didn't find anything.

What is it?

Shoe-pad made from palm.

This material is only available in the South.

In Shangjing,

this is the first time I've ever seen it.

Xinning!

Master.

Take this shoe-pad,

and go

ask around Shangjing and the shops nearby.

Find out which shop

would do palm shoe-pads like this.

Yes, master.

By the way,

did you exam

the body of Prime Minister Siwin?

I did.

Check out the report.

The biggest doubt

is the fatal wound

on his back.

Get a copy of this picture.

Go to the weapons shop to see

what kind of weapon

would cause such wound.

OK, I understand.

I'm on it right now.

Looks like

Prime Minister Siwen's death

is much more complicated than we thought.

I'm afraid there's a conspiracy behind it.

If they just wanted to kill Prime Minister,

why would they hire two different groups?

Besides Gyrfalcon,

the other group

might be aiming for His Majesty.

Back in Lüshan,

what really happened?

I was with Prime Minister Siwen

on a hunt in Lüshan.

The assassins blocked the way,

and went straight to Prime Minister Siwen.

If it was like you said,

they went directly

to Prime Minister Siwen,

then why would you

say the real target of these assassins

was you?

They did go for the Prime Minister.

But I got this feeling,

they wanted to kill me as well.

Did you notice anything else?
