Mom.

Si.

I’ve heard Derang is back.

Yes.

You haven’t seen him for years.

How do you think of him now?

Bro Han...

He’s a good guy.

After breaking the siege,

I’ll go talk with his father

about your engagement to Derang.

Mom...

Hi, Bro Han.

Hi, Miss Li.

I wanted to visit you earlier.

Just now,

you were looking after Yanyan, right?

It’s difficult to handle her.

Thank you very much.

I can understand.

She’s the prime minister’s daughter.

Don’t worry.

I’ll take good care of her

so that you won’t be in a pickle.

I’m going to meet my father

and go to the temporary palace with him.

So,

please take care of Yanyan

and don’t let her run around.

It’s must military affairs.

Don’t worry.

Consider it done.

Bro Han...

Childe, I’ll leave you two alone.

Miss Li, what did you wanna say?

My mother told me

she’d talk to your father

about our engagement

after breaking the siege.

Do you think it’s a good idea?

Miss Li, I’m afraid...

Yanyan.

Yanyan.

(Store)

Han Derang,

you’ve engaged to someone else.

Xining, go ask around.

Did you see

a young lady about this tall?

No.

(Silverware Workshop)

Madam Xiao Gu, are you OK?

How dare you bump into me like that?

Arrest her right now!

Yes, madam!

Madam Xiao Gu?

You’re the quack

who disregards for patients’ lives!

What?

You’ve got some nerve.

How dare you say that?

Take action!

Arrest her right now!

Master, she doesn’t look like a commoner

with her fine clothes.

I don’t care if her dad is an official.

I work day and night

to take care of His Majesty.

If I order her to gather herbs for me,

no one dares to say a word!

Moreover,

It’ll be your family’s honor

to sacrifice for His Majesty.

Arrest her!

Go after her!

Excuse me, did you see

a young lady about this tall?

No, no.

Excuse me, did you see

a young lady about this tall?

No, never.

(Xiao Gu’s Mansion)

(Xiao Gu’s Mansion) I’m in a hurry

(Xiao Gu’s Mansion) to send the medicine to His Majesty.

(Xiao Gu’s Mansion) Or I’d kill the bitch now.

Or I’d kill the bitch now.

Without my order,

no one can come in.

Yes, madam.

You’ve done many bad things.

I’ll enforce justice today

and get rid of the evil today.

Madam, you’ll go to the temporary palace

before His Majesty wakes up.

Shall we go now?

OK. I’m putting on the makeup.

Wait a minute.

Going to the temporary palace?

Madam.

I put the nostrum

for His Majesty in my room.

No one is allowed to go in.

Kill anyone who tries to go in.

(Xiao Gu’s Mansion)

Move over, the royal doctor is here!

It’s Derang.

Pass the earrings

to the young childe in the front.

The handsome childe in green?

Thank you.

Exactly.

Here you are.

Where did you get the earrings?

Young childe, congratulations.

The royal doctor, Xiao Gu,

takes a fancy to you.

Is that her over there?

Yes, she is Xiao Gu.

She’s heading for the temporary palace

so she can’t talk to you right now.

His Majesty trusts her very mush.

If she takes a fancy to you,

young childe,

you should cherish the opportunity.

She lives at the end of the lane.

Wait her there till she’s back.

Xining, hurry up.

Go inform the Prime Minster Siwen.

Got it.

(Prime Minister, South King fell ill suddenly so he has to withdraw troops.)

South King has withdrawn the troops.

What a great news!

From now on,

we’ll have to make our nation stronger.

If there is any war,

Liao Dynasty will be in danger.

You’re right.

Master.

Prime Minister Siwen.

Yanyan dressed up as Madam Xiao Gu

to steal the confidential letter in the temporary palace.

Let’s go to the temporary palace!

How dare she?

Please accept our respects, Madam.

You may rise.

Madam, His Majesty is having a rest.

Could you wait in the side chamber?

OK.

Don’t wake up His Majesty.

You can leave now.

But...

His Majesty can’t sleep well recently.

Since he sleeps here often,

I need to check on him

and make sure

there’s nothing interrupting him.

If you stay here

and distract me from diagnosing,

What punishment do you think you deserve?

We’re really sorry.

(Urgent Letter from Taiping King)

Found it!

Where’s my liquor?

Anybody here?

Madam, His Majesty just woke up.

He needs to wash up and get dressed.

Could you please wait outside?

Where’s my liquor?

Anybody here?

Madam, please step out.

Where’s my liquor?

Where did everybody go?

Your Majesty.

Where did you go?

Tell me!

Where did you go?

What were you doing?

What the heck were you doing?

Tell me!

I’m gonna kill you!

All of you!

Where’s my liquor?

- Your Majesty... -I’m gonna kill you!

Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Where did you go?

Madam, His Majesty has woken up.

Where are you going?

I just realized I had forgotten

to bring the medicine for His Majesty.

So I have to go back to get it.

Madam, when His Majesty wakes up,

he’ll meet you immediately.

I’ll get the medicine for you.

Wait.

I must deal with His Majesty’s medicine in person.

If anything goes wrong,

What punishment do you think you deserve?

Sorry. Please go ahead.

Protect His Majesty.

Yes, madam.

-Madam! -Madam!

Madam.

Why were you tied up here?

You were supposed to be in the temporary palace.

It was the bitch!

How dare she...?

What did you say?

She dressed up as me and went to the temporary palace?

Yes.

I need to go there now

to expose her real identity.

And I’ll kill her!

Yanyan!

Derang.

I finally found you.

Yanyan, are you OK?

Yes, I am.

Do you know how much I worried about you?

I didn’t get the confidential letter.

Don’t worry about it.

I’m glad you’re OK.

We will figure out

how to get the confidential letter.

The most important thing

is to get out of here.

Madam Xiao Gu!

Madam Xiao Gu, please wait!

Madam, it’s the wrong direction.

You live over there.

My nostrum is at the alchemy furnace.

I must bring it for His Majesty in person.

No need. His Majesty has woken up.

He needs to see you now.

He’ll be angry if you don’t hurry up.

So, please go meet him now.

Let’s go.

Yes, Madam.

Why is the royal doctor stalling?

I’ll go check.

Your Majesty,

Prime Minister Siwen and Mr. Han are here.

What brings you here?

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

South Army has retreated.

Youzhou City is safe now.

Congratulations, Your Majesty.

Enough.

I don’t need to worry about it

(Urgent Letter from Taiping King)

(Urgent Letter from Taiping King) It’s from Taiping King?

It’s from Taiping King?

Something goes wrong in Shangjing City?

Your Majesty.

You’ve been...

...upset and can’t sleep well at night.

You really should take a rest.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Taiping King is guarding Shangjing City.

Nothing will go wrong there.

So, please don’t worry too much.

My beloved deputies,

why are you acting weirdly today?

You two always persuade me

to concentrate more on national affairs.

Why are you doing the opposite?

We just worry about your health.

Someone is plotting a coup.

My beloved deputies,

well...

How should we deal with it?

Your Majesty,

I don’t know what you meant.

Your Majesty,

there must be some misunderstanding.

Really?

Then tell me.

How did I misunderstand it?

Read it.

(Yelü Lihu is plotting a coup.)

(Yelü Lihu is plotting a coup.) My imperial brother,

(Yelü Lihu is plotting a coup.)

(Yelü Lihu is plotting a coup.) Yelü Lihu is plotting a coup.

Yelü Lihu is plotting a coup.

The evidence is solid.

Your Majesty, please make the decision.

From Taiping King, Yelü Yansage.

-Your Majesty. -Lihu is plotting a coup!

He wants to kill me!

He thinks I’m not gonna kill any royal members?

Let’s wait and see

if he’s afraid of death!

I never expected that

Lihu would want a coup.

Your Majesty.

Luckily, Taiping King

has found out the truth.

Please don’t worry, Your Majesty.

Xiao Gu!

Where is she?

Get her now!

Your Majesty.

I have something important to say.

It’s a matter of life and death for all the people in Youzhou City.

Listen.

We’re talking about national affairs.

You should leave now!

Xiao Siwen,

are you suggesting that

other people’s lives

are much more important than my life?

Your Majesty, it’s not what I meant.

Your Majesty.

Xiao Gu, I have a bad headache now.

Will the nostrum you give me ever work?

Your Majesty, please be at ease.

The nostrum I’ve given you...

...will definitely work.

It’s just...

Just what?

You spread fallacies to deceive people.

Everyone gathering herbs are dead now.

You should go back to repent!

Mr. Han, you are right.

I did talk wildly before.

I’ll go back to repent now.

Xiao Gu!

How dare you

put me in danger by talking wildly?

Xiao Gu.

You look weird today.

Come closer.

Come closer!

Your Majesty.

I’ve got a new oracle.

Spill it.

God Tengri says

you have killed too many people.

All the innocent people that were killed

turn into ghosts and are around you.

The retribution has come to you.

Your sickness is incurable now.

What did you say?

What did you just say?

I’m gonna kill you!

How dare you say that?

Get out now!

I’m gonna kill you!

Throw her out!

Your Majesty!

I’m gonna kill you!

-Your Majesty! Your Majesty! -Please calm down!

-I’m gonna kill her! -Your Majesty!

-Please calm down! -Your Majesty!

-I’m gonna kill her! -Yanyan!

I’m gonna kill her!

-Your Majesty! -I’m gonna kill her!

-Protect His Majesty! -Xiao Gu!

-I’m gonna kill her! -Your Majesty! Please calm down!

Your Majesty!

My royal guards!

I’m gonna kill her!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

My royal guards!

Your Majesty!

Your Majesty!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

Your Majesty, I’ll take Xiao Gu back

so that you can punish her.

-I’m gonna kill her! -Your Majesty!

I’m gonna kill Xiao Gu!

I’m gonna kill her!

As you wish, Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Kill her!

Your Majesty!

-Your Majesty. -Kill her.

Listen.

His Majesty has ordered

to execute Xiao Gu.

Yes, sir.

Your Majesty. Your Majesty.

Derang,

what should we do now?

We have to get out of here.

It’s the only way to be safe.

No, I can’t go any farther.

You go first.

If they find me,

I’ll fight to death.

Stop talking like that.

I’ll never leave you behind.

I’d die without anything to regret

after hearing what you just said.

I’ll take you to a safe place.

Save your feelings for later.

Hurry up.

Xiao Gu comes.

How dare she do that?

I’ll punish her when I find her!

It’s Xiao Gu.

This way.

Hurry up!

Get in.

Hurry up!

Hide here for a moment.

I’ll distract them.

What a bitch!

When I find you,

I’ll torture you to make you suffer

-and bury you alive! -Xiao Gu!

Who are you?

Help!

What...?

What are you doing?

The royal doctor, Xiao Gu, is here!

What the heck are you doing?

What are you doing? Let go of me!

She is good at bewitching others.

Put a gag in her mouth!

How dare you?

His Majesty has ordered

to kill the royal doctor, Xiao Gu, for her great disrespect.

Wait.

Your Excellency, I arrested Xiao Gu.

How should I punish her?

His Majesty has made the decision.

Xiao Gu cursed His Majesty.

She should be stamped by horses and get killed in that way.

Take her away.

Your Excellency.

Where is she?

Don’t worry, please.

I hid Yanyan in a side chamber.

I read the confidential letter.

There was nothing about my family.

But she can’t be here for long.

Take her and leave here now.

I’ll deal with Xiao Gu.

Got it.

You don’t need to guard here.

Come with me to check on Xiao Gu

in case that she escapes.

Yes, sir.

Yanyan.

Yanyan.

You’re finally back, Derang.

You knew you had to hide, right?

Coming forward can’t protect you.

What happened to Xiao Gu?

Speaking of which,

your dad arrested her.

Besides,

she will take the blame

for the capital crime you committed.

I was really scared just now.

I thought it was impossible for me

to escape unscathed this time.

What about the confidential letter?

Did His Majesty read it?

Prime Minister Siwen read it.

But it was really weird.

In the confidential letter,

there was nothing about your family.

And you should remember:

you made a huge mistake this time.

It was such a close call.

I heard His Majesty was a heavy drinker,

being incompetent and ruthless.

Today I have witnessed what I heard.

How nasty and horrible!

OK, everything is fine now.

I’ll be with you all the time.

Do you know

how much I worried about you?

I thought I might lose you.

So, you really care for me?

Yes.

I didn’t care as much as this time.

But I almost lost my mind just now.

Now I’ve realized

how important you are.

You don’t have feelings for Li Si, right?

We’re just old family friends.

Nothing else is going on between us.

You think you’re just friends.

But she has a crush on you.

OK.

Though she does feel that way,

I’ll never respond.

OK?

Stop being jealous. Let’s go.

Let’s go.

It was such a close call!

I said straight to their face:

"how dare you question me?

I’m gonna kill you!"

They were so frightened

that they had to let me go.

Why are you looking at me like that,

Derang?

Do you think

I’m just being boastful?

But my eldest sister thinks that way.

She tells me if anything happens,

I should reflect on myself

if I have done anything wrong

instead of just thinking

I’m lucky enough.

No, Yanyan.

You did a great job today.

Besides,

you should keep doing it,

Seriously?

Yes!

You should know

you’ve saved many people today.

Really? I have?

Xiao Gu bewitched His Majesty

and ripped apart many families in Youzhou City.

You have rooted her out today

and saved people in Youzhou City.

I really appreciate you very much!

Derang,

I’ve never seen you

looking at me in this way.

Not only have I not seen that,

but also not seen you

looking at others in this way.

So...

Is it a sign that

you’ve fallen in love with me?

Yes.

Really?

You look very beautiful today.

You do think so?

Definitely.

It’s just...

I’m afraid I’ll have more to care for

when I’m in love with you.

Pardon me?

No big deal.

Look over there.

The sun is setting!

Let’s run up there, OK?

Before the sunset,

let’s see if

we can get to the top.

I wanna see

how the sun goes down.

Good idea!

Don’t stand there. Let’s go!

Derang, don’t leave me behind!

Yanyan.

I’ll never

leave you behind in my life!

Come on!

Derang!

Derang, wait for me!

Come on.

(Yanyun Terrace)

(Yanyun Terrace) Look the characters here!

(Yanyun Terrace)

(Yanyun Terrace) Yanyun Terrace.

Yanyun Terrace.

Exactly.

It’s Yanyun Terrace.

So...

When was it built?

It’s said that it was built

after Shi Jingtang ceded

Sixteen Prefectures.

Seems...

Emperor Taizong of Liao built it

for Expedition to the South.

Anecdotally speaking,

the people of Sixteen Prefectures

built it to look out for the south.

(Yanyun Terrace)

Why did they do that?

They were expecting an emperor to save them.

Yanyan, see?

It’s better to try our best

to improve the situation

than just expecting others to save us.

I hope one day

they will call a truce

and spare the people from war and hardship.

That day will come eventually.

But you should remember:

in the future,

don’t risk your life alone like that.

I’m really worried about you.

But I can’t just shrink away

when something is going on.

I’m not asking you to shrink away.

But in the future,

I’ll be with you

no matter what happens.

So don’t take a risk

all by yourself, please.

Got it.

You’ve said it many times.

I think

I’ll have to keep saying it to you.

Remember you owe me another favor.

Don’t forget it.

I do remember.

Tell me.

What’s on your mind right now?

You told me before

your family’s duty

is to guard Sixteen Prefectures.

So, could you please

share your burden with me?

Yanyan.

I don’t want you to get involved.

You should live a carefree life.

But look at the people here.

As long as they are still alive,

they’ll restore hope and courage

to live out loud.

And they’ll rebuild their confidence.

I didn’t understand it before.

But now,

I’ve realized

what "guarding others" means.

So I want to be with you

to guard and protect the people here.

You’re different

with other girls, Yanyan.

Listen to me.

On this vast land,

we are just passers-by.

We can only do something

to help our people

when we can.

So...

I can join you now, right?

Yes.

I promise you

we’ll always be together

like right now

till death do us apart.

Great! I’ll promise you something, too.

What is it?

I promise that

I’ll always stand by your side.

So, from now on,

we’ll be together

for better or for worse.

Don’t leave me, OK?

I won’t do it.

I’ll just cling to you.

You don’t need to.

I won’t leave you.

I have a present for you.

They are mine!

Yes.

Allow me to help you put them on.

You know how to do it?

I’m not sure.

But,

I hope you’ll allow me

to do it for you from now on.

They look good on you.

Your Majesty,

you were in a violent rage today.

It caused tension in your chest

and great irritability in your brain.

So you passed out.

I’ve got a prescription for you,

which will alleviate your symptoms.

And the acupuncture therapy

will help you remove the tension.

Now I know

who’s really loyal to me.

Kuangsi,

I should have listened to you

instead of being bewitched by Xiao Gu.

Your Majesty, don’t worry.

You’re still in good health.

I’ll give you some treatments

to help you recover.

I’ll always remember

what you’ve done for me.

It’s my great honor

to serve you.

I’ll never claim credit.

Kuangsi,

I know I’m bad-tempered.

I’m sorry

for what I did to you.

I’ll enthrone you as the King of Yan.

From now on,

you’ll be the only one I trust.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Father.

Everything is OK in the temporary palace?

Yes.

Father, please.

God Tengri

protects Yanyan always.

How is she?

After leaving the temporary palace,

I took a walk with her.

She went through many dangers today.

I’m afraid she’ll get sick.

That’s why

I took a walk with her in Youzhou City.

So she’s fine now.

I escorted her back to

the Treasury Chancellor’s Mansion.

I read the confidential letter, too.

But here’s the weird thing.

There was nothing about

Prime Minister Siwen and his family.

Yes.

It only mentioned Lihu and his son.

There was nothing about

Wuguli and Xiyin, either.

It must be a scheme

of Taiping King.

What is he up for?

Father.

I’m not sure

if I should tell you this.

Go ahead.

I want to marry Yanyan

when I make contributions to the nation.

Derang,

Yanyan is an offspring of the queen family.

I know.

She’s way out of your league.

Before I make any contribution,

I won’t distract myself at all.

Father, if I can make it,

I think I’ll be

a perfect match for her.

(Restore the Nation)

(Restore the Nation) Bro Han,

(Restore the Nation)

(Restore the Nation) I made these cookies by myself.

I made these cookies by myself.

Take them with you.

Please be safe.

Thank you, Miss Li.

Xining, get the horses ready.

Miss Li,

see you later.

Derang and I

will set out now.

Yanyan is right.

It’s getting late.

We gotta go.

Bro Han, Yanyan,

safe trip!

Let’s go.

OK.

(Restore the Nation)

(Restore the Nation) Miss,

(Restore the Nation) look how complacent she is!

(Restore the Nation)

Let’s go home.

You didn’t need to do it.

You should have treated her better.

I treated her good enough!

Moreover,

you saw what she did.

She always wanted to show off.

But you shouldn’t have shut her out.

If you keep doing it,

others may think

you’re not kind enough.

I am who I am.

I love being headstrong.

If you don’t like it,

or if you have higher expectations,

you can go back

to Miss Li right now.

Yanyan!

Yanyan!

Why did you go after me?

I wanted to.

Should I go after the horses?

You should go after her!

OK, stop doing it.

You have known me better.

What do I know about you?

I think I know nothing.

I love you.

What did you say?

What did you...?

Could you say it again?

I love you.

Pardon me?

I didn’t catch you.

The wind is too strong

so I can’t hear you.

Yanyan, I love you.

I can’t hear you.

Could you say it louder?

Xiao Yanyan, I love you!

I can’t hear you!

I can’t hear you!
