=Episode 5=

Do you know what?

By doing so,

Wuguli will get herself in trouble.

Moreover, she will implicate father.

Hurry up!

Ask Bro Dalin and Bro Han to come here

for a meeting.

Yes, madam.

My good girl.

Sorry.

It’s my fault.

I’ve done all this for you...

Willingly.

My good girl.

As long as we can get through this,

I will certainly

live up to your affection.

Xiyin,

Wuguli is a good girl.

Wuguli,

please take good care of Xiyin.

Father.

Xiyin, you have a good taste.

Wuguli is a good girl.

What a pity!

This good woman is in prison

because of you and your son.

Father! Father!

Father!

Yansage,

where are you taking my father?

What do you think?

Father!

Yansage,

as your imperial uncle,

I’ve lived most of my life.

I’ve seen a lot more of this stuff

than you have.

Stop scaring me

with all this crap.

Imperial uncle, it’s not what I want.

We are the descendants of the first founder of Liao Dynasty.

If torture is really necessary,

that would be too terrible.

I confess. Why not?

I will make a confession of my crime.

Listen up!

Siwen, Han Kuangsi, Hu Gu

and Wuzhi are all my partisans.

Are you satisfied?

All the people in Liao Dynasty

want to overthrow your regime.

Imperial uncle,

do you think it is interesting?

Just take a word of advice from me.

You’d better tell the truth.

How much my brother Xiyin

is involved in this.

Yansage!

All the people of Yelü are royal relatives.

Insurrection has never involved anybody,

but himself.

Xiyin is my only child.

Are you going to kill him?

Bro Dalin.

Hunian. Yanyan.

We’ve heard about it

What are you going to do?

I will explain it to Taiping King.

Sister Wuguli was deceived by Xiyin.

It has nothing to do with father.

He doesn’t know it at all.

Don’t be silly.

You can’t even get into the Taiping Palace.

He won’t believe you so easily.

Let’s do something about it.

First of all,

let’s see if we can explain it to

Taiping King.

Secondly,

we need to get them back first.

Wuguli has been well fed since childhood

and never suffered like this before.

Bro Dalin, Bro Han,

do you have any other information?

Lihu confessed a lot of people this time.

It even included you and my family.

He framed us up!

He is going to die anyway.

So he dragged us all down.

Just to see if His Majesty

would kill us all.

Or...

He’s just trying to force us all

into rebellion.

His Majesty is always suspicious and bloody.

Lihu is trying to kill us both.

The report

has now been sent to the Taiping Palace.

Taiping King is going to Youzhou City

with full speed.

It seems that

Prime Minister Siwen will be in trouble.

Then...

I’ll go to the Taiping Palace to plead.

I’ll talk to Mingyi about it as soon as I can.

We’ll find a way.

Don’t worry.

We...

We should intercept that secret letter first.

It’s easy to say, but how?

We can ambush them in the stage.

There are so many.

Can you intercept all of them?

So...

We should do this a little further away.

Then...

It will be too late for Taiping King

to hear the news.

As soon as we got the secret letter,

we hurried to Youzhou City

to meet father

and let him make a decision quickly.

Maybe father could come up with

a better idea than we can.

This might work.

Who shall we send?

Let me do it.

Cloud Snow is the fastest.

Yanyan.

Anxi, take Miss Xiao to rest.

Keep an eye on her.

Eldest sister,

we should take action at once.

Or it will be too late.

Eldest sister!

Miss Xiao, please.

Send it the Youzhou City as soon as possible

and report to His Majesty.

Yes, Your Highness.

I should take a shortcut to the front stage.

Let me wait for windfalls.

Madam! Madam!

Madam!

-What’s wrong? -Something happened.

Miss Xiao was gone!

She left this on the table.

We haven’t a moment to lose.

I will go to intercept the secret letter by riding Cloud Snow

and to inform father in Youzhou City.

Yanyan.

It’s too dangerous.

Such a silly girl.

She act boldly and decisively.

It could be a way.

But it’s a hard work for a little girl.

It’s not being decisive.

Bro Dalin, what should we do?

We need to get her back!

Let me get her back.

Don’t worry.

I will take good care of her.

Please!

Be careful.

(Duting Stage)

Childe,

we couldn’t find Yanyan all the way.

Could anything have happened to her?

It should not be.

There are only a few places

to set ambushes along the way.

The stage is right ahead.

I’ll check it out.

You go to the Youzhou City

along this road.

And let Prime Minister Siwen know it.

Yes, sir.

This way please.

Would you like something to eat?

I would like to have some pancakes

and a bottle of wine.

Okay, just a moment please.

Waiter.

Can I help you?

Feed my horses well.

And bring me something delicious.

Okay.

By this speed,

we can get to Youzhou City this evening.

Okay.

We can have a rest here.

Taiping King sent us to deliver the letter.

We must not be careless.

Don’t take it lightly.

Our horses are the fastest in the army.

A little drink will be fine.

Fine.

Waiter, bring us wine.

Okay.

What are you doing?

I am sorry.

Let me clean it for you.

-Let me help you. -What are you doing?

Let go!

I just want to clean it for him.

No need.

Waiter, bring us wine.

Here you are.

It’s on fire!

Run!

Fire! Run!

Hurry up!

This way! Hurry up!

Hurry up!

This way! Let’s go!

Hurry up! Hurry!

Where is the baggage?

That girl!

Go and get her!

Let’s go!

She is here. Get her!

This way!

Who sent you here?

Yanyan.

Come here. Let’s go.

Come here.

Derang,

I am fine.

Let’s go on chasing after the secret letter.

I don’t want to give up.

Listen to me.

Get your wounds to heal first.

We’ll try again when we get to the Youzhou City.

I know you’re worried.

But you’ve bled so much.

I’ll never let you risk your life again.

How do you feel?

Is it hurt?

Here.

It will hurt a little.

Don’t watch it.

Turns your head away and it won’t hurt.

Hang on.

Hang on.

Done.

Am I useless?

I’m always in trouble.

Silly girl.

You proposed to chase the postman in time.

And you took the plunge right away.

It’s not making troubles.

But I didn’t make it.

Instead, I alerted the enemy.

Not only did I hurt myself

but I also got you into trouble.

You just don’t understand the cruelty

and ruthlessness of politics.

Girls like you

are not supposed to face death.

You don’t kill in cold blood.

It’s not your fault.

I failed. That’s the truth.

Yanyan.

I grew up

hearing these stories from my father.

But I never took it seriously.

I always thought

these were just stories.

I didn’t know they’re true until today.

Cruel facts.

This is the regime and politics.

About striving for power and position.

It’s not for a girl in your age

to face it.

You’ve done a good job.

You...

You are the bravest girl I know.

Really?

Yanyan.

The tent has been set up.

Just go inside and rest.

Be careful.

Don’t you come in?

I am fine.

I will sit here and keep watch at night.

It’s cold outside.

Come in with me.

It’s fine.

It’s bad for your reputation

if people knew I was sleeping with you.

Cloud Snow will keep it secret.

It’s just the two of us here.

Alright.

Just go and get some rest.

Come on.

I’ll stay out here with you

if you insist.

I won’t stay inside without you.

It’s so cold.

Derang,

are you asleep?

What’s wrong?

I can’t fall asleep.

Can you chat with me for a moment?

Okay.

I am listening.

I left so reckless today.

Will eldest sister be angry?

Of course.

You left without a word.

Of course she will be angry.

Can’t you just appease me?

Your elder sister is like your mother.

She’s worried about you.

Are you okay? Be careful.

So...

Do you like the girl

as mature and steady as

my elder sister?

Your elder sister and I are friends.

Then how about the girl

as smart and pretty as my second sister?

I...

I like girls who are brave.

Yanyan.

When I was looking for you today,

I thought...

I would never see you again.

Promise me.

You won’t do such a rash thing again.

I promise you.

I will protect myself in the future.

I wish the sun

wouldn’t come out so soon.

Wuguli.

Wuguli.

Wuguli.

Madam.

Madam.

Madam.

You’re having nightmares again.

Yeah.

Madam, don’t worry.

Mr. Han is reliable.

Miss Xiao will be fine.

Don’t worry.

I’m worried about Wuguli.

She has been well fed since childhood.

But now,

she is locked up alone in a cell.

How could she suffer like this?

How could she?

(Taiping Palace)

Please tell Your Highness,

Hunian is here to meet him.

Yes, madam.

Derang.

Derang.

Morning.

Let’s go.

The weather may change later.

Get on the horse.

It’s ready.

Here you are.

I wonder if Wuguli is okay.

I’m worried about her so much.

Don’t worry.

Even if he is Yansage,

he can’t hurt Wuguli

without the will of His Majesty.

We need to go to the Youzhou City as soon as possible.

Maybe...

Prime Minister Siwen

had already found a way to save her.

Let’s go.

Miss Hunian, this way please.

Little Hunian,

you finally come to meet me.

Hunian wish you all the best.

You look more gorgeous

than the last time I saw you

in Spring Outing.

You are so sweet.

I wonder if your sisters

are as smart as you are.

I am not a wise woman.

Because of my stupidity,

I didn’t teach them well.

I feel guilty all the time.

I’m responsible for

what they did wrong.

They are too young.

So even a child

can rebel now.

People like us

are supposed to be in our dotage.

We don’t deserve to be here.

This is not what I mean.

Hunian, I promised you once.

Whatever you ask for,

I will try my best.

You’re here today

because of Wuguli.

So you remember my promise.

Your Highness.

Yeah.

I did promise you.

I will try my best

as long as I can.

But...

But it’s about rebellion.

Wuguli was...

She was wronged.

She is my younger sister.

I know her well.

She is young and ignorant.

But she would never rebel.

Really?

Then tell me.

Why did your younger sister

go to Lihu’s mansion

with your father’s token

and join their conspiracy.

Lihu’s son, Xiyin,

he seduced Wuguli.

My younger sister was just taken in

by sweet talk.

Hunian,

you are so naive.

How much do you know Wuguli

your younger sister?

She swore in prison

to live and die together with Xiyin.

She did say so.

If I forgive her now,

sooner or later,

she’ll become our true enemy for Xiyin.

It’s impossible.

Hunian, you intercede for her,

you vouch for her now.

If her guilt is proven

and get caught,

then you will pay for

your words today.

So tell me now.

Will you still intercede for her?

I will.

I’m gonna save her anyway.

As long as you let her go,

I am willing to take all the blame.

Treason is a capital crime.

Will you trade your own life

for your younger sister’s?

I will.

Why?

Because I’m her elder sister.

I’m like her mother.

I am the dearest person to her.

You mean...

You will sacrifice yourself

for your loved ones.

Yes,

I will.

Yes.

Yes, I will.

It’s okay, little Hunian.

Please don’t cry.

My bad.

I am fine.

I am sorry.

Hunian,

I’ve been listening to you

about you, your family

and your younger sister.

Will you listen to

my story?

I have been single for five years

since my first princess died.

I want to marry you.

I will cherish you,

love you and protect you.

Your Highness,

you are paramount and powerful.

Many young ladies in Shangjing City

like you so much.

Why...

Why would you say this to me?

Yeah, you are right.

If I want to get married,

There are many people of Liao Dynasty

want to marry their daughters to me.

But they want to marry Taiping King.

The younger brother of His Majesty.

Not me.

Your Highness, please forgive me.

In my opinion,

you are Taiping King.

That’s it.

All I see is your status.

I don’t really have feeling for you.

Now you can feel me truly.

Hunian,

I get used to the rise and fall of imperial power.

Today, I am the powerful Taiping King.

Tomorrow, I could be a prisoner.

Or even have my head cut off.

I also long for a warm embrace

in this world

to make me feel reliable.

Just like right now.

Hunian, do you understand?

I...

I don’t get it.

You get it.

I can’t be wrong about you.

All I’m looking forward to is someone

who will take risks for me

if I get in trouble in the future.

Hunian,

will you share me half of your kindness

to your sister?

Or even quarter of it.

And I would risk my life for you.

You can treat me as your family.

Will you give me a little place

in your heart?

Will you save my younger sister?

I promise.

As long as I live,

No one dared to hurt Taiping Princess.

Her family. Her sisters.

Anyone she wants to protect.

Alright.

I’m taking you to meet your younger sister now.

I know you won’t sleep well

if you don’t see her today.

Let me go!

Let me go!

I was wronged!

Let me go!

I don’t know.

Hunian.

Let me go!

You haven’t seen each other for so long.

There must be a lot to say.

I’ll wait for you here.

Let me go!

Wuguli!

Hunian!

Hunian, you’ve finally come to save me.

Are you okay?

Did they do anything to you?

I thought you had abandoned me.

You are so headstrong!

Hunian!

Are you here to take me home?

Let’s go!

I don’t want to be here for a second.

It’s horrible here.

You should listen to me.

You’re ruining our family.

I know now.

But I didn’t mean to.

I stole father’s token

to save Xiyin.

I won’t do it again.

Hunian! I won’t do it again!

Please take me home as soon as possible.

Don’t worry.

I will get you out of here.

Hunian,

Wuguli didn’t join our rebellion.

You have to get her out of here.

How dare you!

I can’t wait to kill you!

You don’t have to.

I don’t even know

if I’m going to get out alive.

Hunian! I don’t want to die here.

No! Please!

Please save me!

Please save us!

Don’t worry.

I won’t let you

die in a prison cell.

Xiyin!

Hunian! Please save Xiyin!

Please get him out of here as well.

You!

What kind of crime do you think this is?

You stole father’s token to Xiyin.

You got father into trouble.

Taiping King mistook father as Lihu’s accomplice.

The whole family is suffering

for your misbehavior.

Don’t you know that?

I can’t wait to kill him immediately.

And you’re still trying to save him.

Then you just stay here.

Hunian!

Hunian!

Hunian!

Hunian! Don’t leave me alone!

Madam.

-Your Highness... -It’s fine.

Don’t make decisions in a bad mood

that you will regret in the future.

Just go back home.

And have a good rest.

This is from my mother.

I will cherish it.

(The Youzhou City)

Now the two sides are deadlocked

and no one can win.

What’s the point of

going on like this

except getting more people killed.

South King personally led his soldiers in a military operation.

Their emperor came in person to oversee the battle.

Soldiers are fearless to death.

And how about our emperor?

Having fun in the Temporary Palace.

It is said that

His Majesty sent a lot of people

to follow the royal doctor, Xiao Gu,

to look for medicine these days.

The cliffs are steep.

Some have fallen to their deaths.

It’s too ridiculous.

We are at war.

As a result,

people didn’t die on the battlefield

but in search of medicine.

The Sixteen Prefectures that

Emperor Taizong of Liao conquered,

we have lost two of them.

The Youzhou City is about to

captured by the enemy.

Derang,

are they telling the truth?

What?

His Majesty has no regard for the lives of his people.

Yanyan.

Don’t say that in public.

Let’s go.

Xinning said that

they failed to intercept the secret letter from Taiping King.

What was written

in the secret letter?

Master. Master.

Prime Minister Siwen.

Childe came back

with Miss Xiao.

-Yanyan. -Father.

Father, I finally met you.

Father.

Let me have a look at you.

What’s wrong?

I am fine.

You got hurt.

Derang has already treated my wound.

Xiao Yanyan, listen.

I will not forgive you

if you act unadvisedly again.

Derang, thank you so much.

You are welcome.

Right.

Did you intercept that secret letter?

What?

Oh my god.

Prime Minister Siwen is still here now.

It means that

His Majesty hasn’t read it yet.

Do we still have a chance

to steal that secret letter?

What are you talking about?

It’s our business.

Not yours.

Now that you’ve arrived in Youzhou City.

Don’t get involved any more.

We’ll work it out.

Derang, take her to have a rest.

Where do you live, Derang?

He’s staying at my friend’s mansion.

The Treasury Chancellor, Li Jizhong.

Then I live there, too.

Stop it! Why do you want to live there?

It’s fine.

Li Jizhong has a daughter

who can keep her company.

Really?

Be careful.

Thank you, father.

(The Treasury Chancellor’s Mansion)

Miss,

you can see Mr. Han again.

Last time he left,

you were sad for a long time.

Yeah.

I haven’t seen him for years.

I miss him so much.

Madam Han likes you.

Every time you go to the Shangjing City,

she will invite you to her Masion.

And always tells our madam that

Miss is a good daughter-in-law.

In my opinion, (Li Si, Treasury Chancellor’s Daughter)

you can get engaged to him this time.

He has great ambition.

Of course I can’t mess with him.

I would like to wait

until he wants to get married.

Bro Han.

Miss Li.

Who is she?

She is Prime Minister Siwen’s daughter.

Xiao Yanyan.

This is Treasury Chancellor’s daughter.

Miss Li.

Yanyan, nice to meet you.

Miss Li, nice to meet you.

Yanyan, you got hurt.

Yeah.

Derang has bandaged my wound.

I am fine.

Yanyan, you are a girl.

Bro Han may haven’t bandaged it carefully enough.

Let me check it out for you.

Right.

Let her check it out for you.

Fortunately, the arrow was dug out.

That will make the cut a little smaller.

You’ll recover faster, too.

Last time Bro Han got hurt,

he pulled the arrow straight out.

But the tendons nearby got injured

when he did it.

His recovery has been even slower.

He’s been hurt too.

When did that happen?

It was a long time ago.

Didn’t he tell you about it?

How do you know that?

Have you seen his wounds?

I pulled the arrow out for him.

Are you close friends?

Sleep in you right side.

Don’t touch the wounds.

Yun will stay here to serve you.

She will help you with the medicine every day.

No thanks.

No need.

Yanyan, your clothes are broken.

It’s inconvenient for you.

Yun.

Yes, miss.

Go and get a dress for Yanyan.

Miss, there’s only Han Chinese clothing.

Yanyan,

what do you think?

It’s okay.

I like it.

That’s good.

Go and get it.

Yes, miss.

Miss.

Mom.

Si.

I’ve heard Derang is back.

Yes.

You didn’t see him for years.

How do you think of him now?

Bro Han...

He’s a good guy.

After breaking the siege,

I’ll go talk with his father

about your engagement to Derang.
