[Secret of the Three Kingdoms]

[Episode 11]

[Xudu]

Everybody, do as I've just said.

Yes!

[Xudu]

- General Cao. - Magistrate Man.

You have just returned victoriously last night.

Today, you have already taken over the defense of the city. Thank you for your hard work!

It's my duty.

The troops were dispatched for just eight days and won a huge victory.

Your skill in commanding the troops is divine.

Oh, it's nothing! You're flattering me. It's all because the Grand Minister defeated Liu Bei at Xuzhou.

Those irritating thugs at Runan were terrified at the news.

They ran off like rats and couldn't even stand a fight.

I heard Lord Cao captured Guan Yu during the war at Xuzhou.

And Liu Bei escaped leaving his wife behind!

That's true!

Absolutely correct!

It's truly a good show!

Magistrate Man likes to watch shows, too.

In my opinion, the best shows

are still here in Xudu.

I hurried back but still missed such a good show.

Both you and that old man Jia Xu stole the limelight.

General, please don't make fun of me!

By the way, did Dong Cheng confess?

Dong Cheng, that old thug, was still unwilling to make a confession.

He said he dispatched the troops all by his own will.

He did not want to implicate His Majesty,

nor admit that he colluded with Yuan Shao.

He's truly a very loyal subject.

Also, did you catch the assassin?

This guy Wang Fu is highly skilled in martial arts; it's very likely that he's one of them.

The other female assassin, I already have a good idea of who she is.

But for now, I don't have enough evidence, so I don't want to make any moves yet.

The one you're looking for is here.

I, Colonel Deng Zhan of the Tiger-Leopard Calvary, greet Magistrate Man.

I've heard so much about you.

Libationer Guo sent him to you. He's a Tiger-Leopard Calvary master.

Let him handle the assassin. She won't be able to get away.

How's Libationer Guo doing?

Libationer Guo wanted me to relay to you that he will arrive here very soon.

Xudu city is so chaotic.

I'm so ashamed that I wasn't able to fulfill his trust.

Libationer Guo knew you would say that.

He wanted me to tell you, the more chaotic Xudu is, the better.

Today, you have to walk with me to the ritual.

I'm sorry that you'll have to bear the hardship.

Just a few steps, it's nothing!

The ritual clothing for His Majesty is here.

Bring them in.

I will help Your Majesty to change.

Greetings, Director Xun.

Okay.

You all woke up at dawn. All of you are very studious.

We dare not slack off.

Where's Sima Yi?

Him? Still sleeping.

You all continue.

Yes.

Greetings, Director Xun.

Is it because you stayed up all night to study?

I really dare not lie to you. It is because of what happened to my younger brother Yang Ping.

I wasn't able to fall asleep. I don't feel well. Please forgive me!

As a young man, being diligent in study is the most important thing.

General Cao Ren returned last night.

Among the thieves that he caught, no one admitted robbing Yang Jun.

General Cao Ren came back so quick?

Thank you, Director Xun.

My family will continue to investigate what happened to my younger brother Yang Ping.

If there are still no clues,

I'll then let my father seek help from Lord Cao.

I'm sure your father will understand the order of priority.

Today, the Emperor offers sacrifice to Emperor Qing.

Superintendent Kong of the Privy Treasury took great effort to make the preparations.

A great deal of lost rituals are restored.

This will be a good learning experience for you young people.

Go and watch it.

Yes.

Today, we accompany the Emperor!

You all need to be in good order!

Don't step out of line!

Otherwise, it will be a big crime of offending the Emperor!

Do you all understand?

Yes!

Let's set out!

You, raise your head!

Let's go!

[Memorial Tablet of Emperor Qing]

Your Majesty, this way please!

"The easterly winds melt the ice."

"Dormant insects start to rise up."

"Fishes swim up the sturdy ice."

"The soaring geese return."

"Today, we set the start of spring. Splendid virtue is in simplicity."

"The six factors of nature start, carefully cultivating gifts."

"We now have succeeded in welcoming the spring in the eastern outskirt."

"Make an offering to Emperor Qing and Gou Mang."[Gou Mang is a mythical Chinese creature with a human face and bird-like body]

"Celebrate and dispense graces."

"Share them to the citizens of the empire."

Go to the area for washing the hands and face. Hold the jade tablet.

Your Majesty, based on the ceremonial rules,

after Your Majesty and Empress do the initial and secondary offering bows, respectively,

it should be Grand Minister Cao who will do the last offering bow.

But Grand Minister Cao is not around. General Cao Ren has just achieved new great merits.

I think that we should let General Cao take the final bow after the Empress as a reward for his achievements.

If he represents Grand Minister Cao,

even the three state councilors and nine ministers

would not dare to compete with him.

At this time, we should be respectful, submissive, and try to conceal ourselves.

Do not let the people of Cao Cao be suspicious again.

If I become that submissive, will I not be like me anymore?

Offending the offering ceremony. Do you not want to live anymore?

General Cao, you are just the governor of Guangyang.

How could your subordinate raise his sword right in front of His Majesty?!

This is part of my duty, Superintendent Kong.

Duty? The 45 stars of the Yulin Army are scattered in the southern areas.

They can shield the heaven.

Using stars as military names, they escort and guard the emperor.

Which part are you from? What is your military name?

What star are you representing?

Okay already. The ceremony will be starting soon.

Superintendent Kong meticulously prepared this.

Let us not foil it just because of a little misunderstanding. Step back.

Deng Zhan.

Look. There are some things that you do not need to personally do.

Your Majesty, please.

The first offering bow!

Your Majesty, this way please.

Go to the wine offering area.

Kneel.

Place the jade tablet.

Settle the jade tablet.

Bow down.

[Memorial Tablet of Emperor Qing]

Go to the area for reading of blessings.

Everyone, kneel!

"On the setting of the first day of spring in the fourth year of Jian'an (A.D. 199),

the descendant Emperor Liu Xie dares to proclaim to the Taihao Clan of Emperor Qing

to present the beginning of spring that only happens at this time.

Items from the Zhaosu County are to be eternally offered in a respectful style."

- Older Brother!- Second Young Master!

- Zihuan!- Second Brother!

Protect His Majesty!

- Older Brother! Quickly save my brother!- Lady, why are you here, too?!

Who are you?

I am Wang Yue. I am here to seek revenge for my little brother.

The world's number one swordsman, Wang Yue?!

I dare not accept such praises. I did not expect people to still remember me.[Wang Yue]

- Is your little brother, Wang Fu?- Correct!

Wang Fu helped Dong Cheng to rebel.

He got punished by the law of the country. What grudge is there to revenge?

Traveling warriors like us only recognize blood relationships and not laws.

The Cao forces killed my little brother.

I am going to kill his son.

That is fair.

- Let go of my older brother!- Lady, do not be rash.

Older Brother!

If you kill me, I still have seven brothers.

It will not be easy to sever the bloodline of our Cao family.

Do not mind me!

You are quite bold.

Too bad, you are the son of Cao Cao.

Stop!

I am the emperor. For this matter, I can give you justice,

but you must let Cao Pi go.

This matter has nothing to do with him.

The emperor wants to save the son of Cao Cao?

That is new.

Wang Fu was pursued by the military and had suffered numerous arrow wounds.

He escaped to the southern side of the city and attempted to take Princess Consort Hongnong hostage.

In the midst of the disorder, he got killed by the Princess Consort. I saw it myself.

Did you not see it, too, General Sun?

Yes, I also saw it.

Tang Ying...

I will kill him first and then kill Tang Ying.

Capture him!

- Attack! - Zihuan!

Older Brother!

Older Brother! Are you all right, Brother?!

- Older Brother!- After him!

Older Brother...

Sima Yi, you dare put Princess Consort Tang in danger?

Your Majesty, I ask that you allow me to protect Princess Consort to make up for my crime.

General Sun, please lead the way.

Princess Consort is in danger. Who dares to just watch and not save her?1!

- Come with me!- Yes!

Magistrate Man, let the master fighter stay to guard me.

Yes.

- Second Brother, how are you doing?- Second Young Master!

Wake up, Second Brother.

May Your Majesty save my nephew.

- Your Majesty, please save my older brother. You surely have a way.- Stop crying.

Get some clean water and cloth. Is there still any sword injury medicines in the military camp?

Clean water, cloth, and sword injury medicines! Hurry! Hurry and get them!

Second Brother, you must hold on...

This... His Majesty is personally...

Never thought His Majesty...

Idiot.

Informing Empress, we do not know the details of the assassin yet.

It is not safe to stay here any longer. I ask that you immediately return to your carriage.

Can you not see that His Majesty is still busy?

His Majesty has long been gravely sick. I used to worry and sigh about it day and night.

Now, I see that His Majesty is back in good health.

Not only has he become more agile, he even knows medical skills.

I am really happy about it.

Just to strengthen his body, His Majesty has been learning a regimen to preserve his health.

After being sick for so long, it is natural that he has gained some medical knowledge.

Your Majesty, that is wrong.

In stopping the bleeding, the bandaging must be done tightly.

You still are hesitant to use force. You should do it this way.

Looks like my skills are still not yet proficient.

This eunuch by my side knows some medical skills and regimens to preserve life.

I asked him to teach His Majesty.

His Majesty just learned some superficial knowledge.

Never thought that it would lead to such wonderful effects,

wherein the health of His Majesty improved day by day.

May Empress teach us then.

What technique is it that led to such magical effects?

Adviser Zhao, what His Majesty was trained in was a guidance technique that I devised.

If you are able to learn this technique, you can avoid the three calamities and the eight disasters.

Your body will become light like a swallow and be immune to hundreds of diseases.

May I ask about the name of this guidance technique?

Five Catch Act.

Tang Ying, come out!

Did my younger brother Wang Fu die at your sword?

Yes. You are Wang Yue?

When you wandered in destitute in Jianghu, he saved you.

Why did you repay him by killing him?!

Hand me your life!

So outstanding.

Are you all still not going to help?

Protect the Princess Consort!

What is your relationship with the Xiyuan Guards?

How are you related to Dongfang Chun?

Xiyuan Guards?

Are you still not coming over to assist me up?

Coming.

- Your Majesty. - General Cao Ren, you have been in battlefields for a long time.

You must have been used to matters like this

of getting hurt and bleeding.

Because the one hurt this time is my nephew,

I panicked.

Cao Pi is now fine.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

If you really want to thank anyone, thank Eunuch Leng.

Thank you, Eunuch Leng.

General Cao, you are giving me too much respect. It is part of my job.

I got soft-hearted earlier.

Do not be mad at me.

Why must you show off your martial arts and medical skills?

Do you not find the eyes and ears of the Xudu Guards abundant enough,

that you must tell it to them in an obvious manner?

It was an urgent situation. I did not have the time to think about everything.

This is also a natural instinct. I do not want to see you get hurt.

I also do not want to see a child

dying in front of me.

Older Brother...

Do not move.

Move aside!

Thank you, Your Majesty, for saving my older brother.

Get up.

Magistrate Man, everything is now fine here.

Immediately send people to assist General Sun.

Your Majesty, Your Majesty the Empress, the imperial carriage is ready.

We still do not know the details of the assassin, so it is not safe to stay here.

May Empress and Your Majesty return to the imperial carriage immediately.

Your Majesty, let us go back to the palace.

It is really hard to revive the ritual system during chaotic times.

We should go back now.

We also should go back now.

Teacher.

So painful. You must not kill her.

You are quite amusing. Earlier, you betrayed her.

Now, you are risking your life to defend her.

I am doing it for your sake.

If you kill her, the soul of your younger brother in heaven will hate you.

Shut up! Do not meddle with my matter!

Hey, Wang Fu used death to preserve your life.

If you just waste it like this, he will also hate you.

What are you saying?!

Listen well. Tang Ying is the person that Wang Fu sincerely loved.

He died to save Tang Ying.

How could my younger brother love a woman like that?!

I cannot explain it clearly to him anymore.

You let Wang Fu personally explain it to him.

What do you mean?

What do you mean what do I mean? Are you stupid?

Use the sword technique of Wang Fu to tell him.

The sword technique of the Wang Clan.

You actually know the sword technique of our Wang Clan?

The sword technique of your Wang Clan is unrivaled in this world. Only disciples can learn it.

He even taught Tang Ying a top secret technique like that.

Do you now believe that Tang Ying is the woman he loved?

You personally killed my little brother.

You are an ingrate. The more you should die!

Can you have some confidence in your little brother?

Even if Wang Fu was hurt, Tang Ying would not be able to defeat him.

He charged towards her sword just to protect her.

Until the end, he preserved the dignity of a swordsman. And now?

You are trying to kill the person he died to protect.

If I were Wang Fu, I also would not rest in peace.

I owe Wang Fu a life, but I cannot die yet.

Once I am done with my mission, return to kill me.

I will not fight back.

Fine!

For the sake of my little brother,

I will temporarily spare your life.

But... I will surely take back the sword technique of our Wang Clan in the future!

Why did you not personally tell him? You dare to risk your life,

but you don't dare to admit that Wang Fu loved you?

I think you really have a stupid mouth.

Dying while protecting Princess Consort Tang

is more honorable than living and harming her. Right?

Even if you kill him, Man Chong will still know that I know martial arts.

I am just seeking vengeance for Imperial Consort Dong. What?

Afraid of death now?

I never did.

Stop pretending.

When Wang Yue tried to stab you with his sword, didn't you avoid it?

Hence, it is better to have a bad life than a good death.

Stop treating your life so lightly.

If you want to willfully disregard it again, think about that moment earlier.

Hey! I still saved you, right?!

No conscience. Ingrate!

Help! Help!

Help...

What happened?

The sword skills of Wang Yue is too strong. These soldiers...

all died in the line of duty.

Where is Wang Yue?

When he heard the hoof sounds of your horses, he escaped.

[Memorial Hall of Prince Hongnong]

- Where is Princess Consort?- She hid inside the hall.

She is after all a woman. How could she have seen such a huge battle?

Good thing you all came just in time.

You personally saw Wang Yue killing Sun Yi?

That is right.

Today, I was negligent in my duty. May Your Majesty forgive me.

Your Majesty and Your Highness Empress must be tired today. Please go back to your room and rest.

You all can leave now.

I will take my leave.

Reporting!

Reporting, Deng Zhan is back.

Greetings Your Majesty and Your Highness.

Is Princess Consort Tang safe?

Informing Your Majesty and Her Majesty, Princess Consort Tang is safe.

General Sun Yi and the Xudu Guards all died.

Secretary Sima Yi got hurt. Wang Yue has escaped.

Sima Yi is hurt?

How are his injuries?

Not life threatening. I have already sent him back to his dwelling to get treated.

Spread my decree to send an imperial physician to check on Sima Yi.

Yes.

Sima Yi is just a scholar who received graces for meeting His Majesty.

It is rare that he would risk his life to repay it. He indeed should be rewarded.

Your Majesty, you are tired for today, too. It is better to go back to your room earlier so you can rest.

You leave, too.

I will take my leave.

Never thought that it would be His Majesty who would save Zihuan.

That is...

This is the item that saved Second Young Master earlier.

That slice by Wang Yue earlier was indeed with intention to kill.

It is just that this stone hit the back of the sword.

This decreased its force by 30%; hence, Second Young Master luckily escaped death.

You found this earlier?

One little stone...

His wrist strength is not inferior to an arbalest.

Who could it be and why would he save Zihuan?

I only saw this technique used by Xu Fu, a private guard from the house of Yang Xiu.

But Yang Biao and Yang Xiu both did not come today.

Why would they secretly make Xu Fu hide in the surrounding? What is their purpose?

Once I find out the background of Wang Yue, it will become easier to understand

what the connection of Yang Xiu with this matter is.

Get out.

Yes.

Still worrying about Sima Yi?

I do not know yet the situation of his injuries.

Good thing Sister Tang is all right,

or else, Sima Yi deserves to die.

Zhongda deliberately betrayed Sister Tang.

What?

I think Zhongda has three purposes.

In your eyes, he really can do anything.

Despite doing a disgraceful act of betraying a woman,

you still can come to his defense.

First: Zhongda betrayed Sister Tang to dissociate with her.

In doing so, he also dissociated himself from us.

Second: Wang Fu died protecting Sister Tang.

He sincerely loved Sister Tang.

Once Wang Yue discovers that Sister Tang is the love of his little brother,

he will surely not harm her.

Third:

There is still a third?

Borrowing another person's hand to kill.

Sun Yi?

Yesterday, Zhongda told me that Sun Yi saw how Wang Fu died.

Man Chong is already suspecting Sister Tang.

I think that if this time Wang Yue did not kill Sun Yi,

I fear that it would be hard for him to return alive.

This brother of yours is really smart and sinister.

He did all of those for the sake of Sister Tang.

I am not looking down on him.

You are that eunuch who taught His Majesty that guidance technique?

You know quite a lot.

May I ask from where did you learn your medical skills?

All eunuchs in the palace have a teacher.

When I entered the palace, I followed Wang Bi, the chief of the Internal Affairs Storage Room.

I read the stashed books in the Internal Affairs for a year.

Through these books, I created a form of life preserving technique.

What kind of life preserving technique?

This technique imitates nature.

It comes from the forms of five animals, namely

tiger, bear, deer, gorilla, and crane. It is called the Five Catch Act.

If you learn this technique, you can avoid tree calamities and eight disasters.

Your body will be as light as a swallow and be immune to hundreds of illnesses.

Five Catch Act.

Looks like you really know a lot.

You have entered the palace for three years.

Before entering, you were already castrated, and you were learned.

Where really did you come from?

How come you harmed yourself and walked this path?

Magistrate Man, you indeed have eyes and ears beyond the heavens. There is nothing you do not know.

Before entering the palace, my father was a scholar in our province.

But because of the war, my whole family had died.

Castrating myself to enter the palace was just so that I could find a way to survive

and a way to get food to eat.

The food here in the palace is not that delicious.

Thank you for your guidance, Magistrate Man.

Go now.

Yes.

How is His Majesty and Empress?

They are fine. Empress is worried about you but is unable to come see you. She asked me to check on you.

I am fine. But the martial arts skills of Wang Yue are extremely good, and he is an obstinate person.

If he knew about the truth behind the death of Wang Fu,

I fear that he might harm His Majesty.

You should investigate the whereabouts of that person.

I know where he is.

He is now serving under Yuan Shao.

What? You also knew beforehand that he would be attacking?

I know. It was me who leaked to him

that Wang Fu was killed by the forces of Cao Cao through the men of Yuan Shao.

People from Jianghu seek satisfaction through repaying debts of gratitude or grudges.

Whether he attacks the members of the Cao family

or goes to Guandu to trouble Cao Cao,

both would benefit us.

Have you never thought that this would put His Majesty in danger?

I never thought that he and Sima Yi would incite so many things to stir the situation.

One intervened and saved Cao Pi. The other shifted the trouble elsewhere.

He had Wang Yue come to you.

Have you now finally witnessed how despicable and cunning Sima Yi is?

It is quite a rare feat to see you smile.

Young Master Yang, you actually do not understand the purpose of Sima Yi?

It is also my first time hearing you use those words to describe another person.

It is indeed rare.

You want to say that he borrowed the hands of Wang Yue

to kill Sun Yi and eliminate future troubles for you, right?

Princess Consort, you have always looked down on vulgar commoners,

but you are now defending a man.

That is what is rare.

The situation here in Xudu changes in an instant.

You better just focus on thinking

about how to protect His Majesty.

That is right. The situation in Xudu changes in an instant.

For example, with Sima Yi stealing the limelight this time, he has now caught the attention of Man Chong,

and the attention of Guo Jia, who is currently far in Guandu.

How long do you think he can still play in this game?

So it seems that Princess Consort is really concerned about him now.
