my career as an investigator

this one started

love to show up in time to
pose for the newsreel footage

when a celebrity kicks off.

That's the last time anyone
saw her until the maid found

the body this morning.

she began to devote
much of her time

to the opening of a popular
beach front restaurant that

bore her name.

Sidewalk Cafe quickly

became Hollywood's
favorite watering hole.

Its guiding light has
been extinguished now

But her beauty and
the laughter she

brought us will live on
in our hearts forever.

after a five-course dinner,

she had the chauffeur stopped
someplace between Hollywood

and the beach because she
has a sudden craving for peas

and carrots?

Everyone at the
party swears she only

had a few sips of champagne.

But according to her
blood alcohol level,

she was legally drunk
at the time she died.

And I've had no less than
six phone calls from people

claiming to have either
seen her or talked

to her as late as Sunday night,
which means the ME is saying

that a dead woman had a
busier Sunday than I did.

of Luciano's, with a
man and a woman inside

in a cul-de-sac
south of Wilshire.

They were lost, so--

We've been driving around

Brills thought the woman looked

familiar from a distance,
but they couldn't place her.

Now, I can't prove what
happened after that,

but I can make a
very educated guess.

Sometime after the
Brills saw them,

Luciano must have
driven Thelma back

to the duplex above
the restaurant.

nothing more I can do.

So there was no reason on
earth for her to be in the car

the same clothes

she'd worn to that party
some 36 hours earlier?

There's only one possible reason
she never made it to her door.

Luciano was too smart
to stop her himself,

so he just paid someone
to do it for him.
