[Music]

but could you tell us what kind of

relationship did you have with the natus

well absolutely madam I've had several

proposals of marriage during my travels

with the aboriginals and believe me when

you're above the Arctic Circle and it's

40 degrees below zero marriage is not so

much a romantic notion as a practical

means of sheer survival however I have

until now always managed to do the

honorable thing run as fast as I can you

search for antiquities the world oh no

believe me you have a particular

interest in the Norse Sagas no indeed I

do we've had a controversy here over a

fine made near Lake Superior in 1936 oh

I wonder if you might comment well I'm a

strong believer in Viking peregrination

the kensington storm proves they were in

Minnesota in the 1300s so any evidence

that they were in northern Canada would

not at all surprised me mr. Conley I'm a

loyal supporter of the museum but I find

your method of procuring antiquities to

be better suited to a confidence

trickster well I'm sorry sir but you

can't judge the world I move in by the

standards of drawing-room society how do

you mean sir primitive cultures

throughout the world are being plundered

assimilated or even destroyed by a

combination of business governments and

if you'll excuse me the church museums

are the protectors and guardians of

these people's culture and inheritance

and I have no intention of apologizing

for my role in that

[Applause]

my question was of more than academic

interest

why do mr. Johnson headmaster st.

George's College and you say a student

of your accenture this from northern

Manitoba former student Jamie McNair

wonderful athlete school is one of the

ball match since we lost him

Paula pair most unfortunate parents died

in a car accident and the school well we

just couldn't afford to keep him I

understand now the boy is trustworthy

always yes of course if he says he

discovered that spearhead that he did do

any suppose it might be Viking well it

is possible but highly unlikely but but

I thought your location is the problem

you see a discovery and Lake Superior is

one thing but find it northern Manitoba

would peak well that's miraculous oh I

see but if you like I could take it

around to the universities get a second

opinion

oh well that would be wonderful mind you

I can't promise a speedy reply academics

of the slums of humanity well I I think

Jamie simply wants to get the mystery

cleared up one way or another I think he

hoping that his discovery might allow

him the possibility of returning to his

studies he sounds like a fine fellow Oh

years a fine lad

Rock Chalk Jamie I'm looking for the

black trunk did you move it you had a

CPR sticker on it let me touched well

get up and help me look

why what's in it my suit

well I can't marry Lenore in these get

the lantern what do you think you're

doing we don't just let anyone the clown

you know I can't I can't watch this

she's got me in a headlock do we have a

mixer [ __ ]

[Laughter]

well what do you think it's it's not

exactly a suit is it last time I wore

this was the Battle of Passchendaele and

that of course was when the Germans

attacked you with the Maus oh now come

on you don't to be late for your own

wedding dear

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

keuner son of Ragnar from meteos anno

domini 977 servant of the white Christ

you it I could just make out corners

name with nothing else is this another

one of your Irish jokes Connolly if it

is it's on me how did you acquire this

my gun boy found the spearhead in

northern Manitoba you'll be looking for

the Helen sagas a story of cooler

ragnarson set out from Norway the

company of 21 men come for Greenland

carrying the white Christ which approval

it's magic of the sack of Horace an

inlaid crucifix of white gold part pagan

part Christian like corner himself for

corner he missed his landfall and sail

beyond Greenland to his death pure myth

there's no historical reference to

keuner and only one to the white Christ

uh-uh until now often there's a

cryptographic text concealed from the

plain text what say I don't know I'd

need time how much time

why what do you intend to do with it oh

I have no idea what would you suggest

nothing personal Connolly but this thing

is bigger than you bigger than any

treasure hunter what you want to let the

government do you know what let me

consult with my colleagues naturally

nothing will be decided without your

intimate involvement I am merely a

visitor to your fair Dominion it would

only be right for you to take the lead

keep it safe huh yes of course

don't worry I'll be in touch okay I'm

not worried the weight Christ is in good

hands

oh yes it's in good hands

beautiful hands

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

whoa

let's have that rifle SiC constable John

Saunders reaching for it but the lunatic

threw back his head with a Hoopa

laughter straight from Hades

stay away Mountie I'm out to kill and no

one's gonna stop quick now I thought

Saunders calculating the distances of

the madman Shack there's a pistol inside

and that's the best shot I've got him

ever seen Colleen again this side of the

grave

who's that

watch this

hey Austin funny you know

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

Oh

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

Oh

[Music]

welcome to beautiful Stewart's landing

it's my mother

we can rebuild the cabin Jamie

everything's gone

everything Angus worked for the only

thing Angus will care about is that you

got out alive it wasn't your fault Jamie

I'm scared what a storm thought I sauce

what did you see Jamie

I didn't know you still had that I mean

you saw me take it out of the stone

house yeah but I thought you left it in

the Barents I thought it might be worth

something

oh I'm sorry dad meant most things in a

crib do you know what I mean it's cursed

you have to bring it back oh yeah that's

right I'm talking my list of things to

do naughty beautiful things there is a

fire at Angus and Lenore's the other

night Jamie her no but their home was

burnt to the ground this is a land

worthy of myth and legend is about you

must be from my government I didn't

think it was that obvious

the names Connolly Martin Connelly

immensely tell me all these are yours

no mr. Connelly's I come up here to have

a look see it some not some spearhead

that your brother and Jamie pound so

what part of the government are you with

mine minerals in Indian Affairs really

well can you tell me then why they send

someone for an old piece of metal but no

one when we had the influenza how last

public health is not my department but

then I'm sure that I can't imagine why

you'd call them that you do work for the

government don't you mr. Connelly so

where is your brother

looks like you lads have your work cut

out for you here I believe your Jaime

always a pleasure to meet us in George's

old boy how'd you know I'm Jamie there's

a lot of people there to see you come

back i wasa us I just met your lovely

sister I'm Connelly I'm a government man

we believe you've made an important

discovery here my headmaster showed you

the rubbing indeed he did I'd love to

see the actual piece sure

Thank You mr. Connick

what do you know about the room

screaming I read them they're ancient

Norse alphabet right lad more a cold

see each one of these symbols here

represents the universal concept truth

magical powers to unlock secrets of

nature where did you find it up north in

the barren lands well I want to hire you

both of you to guide me to the site I'll

pay you $200 each to do it $200 lots of

this may be worthless but if we can

verify the authenticity of this will be

a bonus more than enough to cover this

fire damage and probably enough to send

you back to school again

what do you say

that's jazz the world needs to know this

Jamie you know the between likes and

ignorance of simply no choice

[Music]

can you give us some time to think about

this not long I need to know as soon as

I come on it'll be an adventure no I

told you I don't help a grave robber you

find a grave robber is a scientist or

something I really could dig up his own

people's bones you're crazy I can't

believe you're passing up on $200 I

don't want us money for that well I do I

can pay back on Cahuenga so I can make

things right

don't you understand that Jimmy listen

to me that place is dangerous that

dreams no don't start with your dreams

dreams about a white wolf the elders

tell stories about the stone house don't

you see you can't rob it and just walk

away

you can't spoof it the money's that

important to you

yeah it is why for Angus or for you what

do you mean I heard what he said about

school about leaving here forget it all

right

you don't want to come you don't have to

go no no tell me why you want the money

I don't know why I want it I certainly

made a mess of things up here though

haven't I

you mean the fire don't you Sonny why

did I ever come here what am I gonna do

for the rest of my life

hunt caribou trap beaver marry an Indian

I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that

come on

Oh watch this come on I didn't mean it

like that

Angeline

sit on

i sub k m-- to see me this morning he's

anxious to take a wife

totally come back tomorrow tomorrow

could I say he's waited long enough

ever since you come home from school you

look like look like he lost your best

friend

[Music]

it's not acid

it's not just Assam

I don't want to get married yet

what are you talking about they're

almost 17

answer me

I don't know what this hey do you watch

this answer tomorrow

[Music]

Oh master James this is a pleasant

surprise well let's call about your

offer mr. Connelly watch this won't go

but I'll guide you myself

well I'm sorry lad I didn't think you'd

be interested the jobs taken big-nose

mrs. du Zechariah called

but he's never even been to the stone

house well as nobody tells me he shows

me you can find it

did he I hope you didn't take that

promise to the bank it may have a point

there now what would you say to an

unholy trinity $25 more done you've got

quite a head for business there James

once we get you out of this jungle and

into the next

so you're going back to the SS of barren

lands that's right

to make your fame and fortune you should

wait for Angus I'm 18 I'm past the age

of majority the law makes your man what

about your family

I'm sorry I really can't go tell my

uncle when I get back I'll pay for all

his fire loss and then I really why are

you letting him go this what he wants

big-nose hates him many who knows with

our mana wants what does it matter to

you

he's your friend isn't he

let it alone I'm a glad asset doesn't

see you like this huh

[Music]

or Driscoll drove with a song a wild

duck and the drink from a tall and the

tufted reeds of the rear heart lake

Oh up the northwest tributary and the

portage we want to be anywhere along the

stretch this map is guesswork at best

but the stone house is definitely on the

Kazon River we call the river at the

Giants up here with us I I never heard

that

well maybe you forgot a trick you what

are you talking about you but I think

the fire needs more wood to mr. big nose

let him do it but each according to his

abilities the old expression goes

we're talking about tricky I I think our

friend it's not all there

great I'm sleeping next to her Matt

asked you don't worry while countries or

not my uncle says it takes its time

warming up to you I can imagine

when have I last looked at the round

green eyes and the long wavering bodies

of the dark in the parts of the moon

pardon me

that's the poet eh you are a lucky lad

Jamie to see all of this before it's all

destroyed destroyed the triple are the

Cree the Inuit even your old uncle

they're all done in their way of life

finished

I don't mean to offend you but I don't

think you know what you're talking about

oh I do

[Music]

I do I've seen it happens all over the

world time and time again in Central

America Egypt China they're angry tears

are gone the holy centers of the hills

are vanished you agree with mr. yates

Zakaria I see you're of another mind

well put

[Music]

voices

what is it

dream again what did you see

Jimmy was dead

[Music]

remember any of your laughing how much

this service

Eid rush yet

but the slave do it and excellent advice

it is too but Jamie's and strokers a

wants aside you remember two years ago

when my cousin died in the sanitarium in

Winnipeg what cousin well watch this

dream that too even though she was

hundreds of miles away how come I never

heard this story before huh it's true he

has a gift all right who's gonna pay for

the gas on this dream chase I figured as

much

oh right all right you ready in half an

hour

what a quick look-see back in time for

you to cook we don't know that and even

if he is don't fault what you're the one

that's always talking about traditional

ways if your brother needs you you can't

refuse him

and who said you could come on tejana to

good Mauritania and gamers cannot play

WA you got a new one

[Music]

let's only only have children of your

own

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

no more ties here finish nail what the

hell

I told you we have to pour Tosh to the

Kazon River I say your line Zakaria I'm

not forgive me the math games what is it

quick

what's wrong just do as I say

hurry up

[Music]

[Music]

break it up both of you please grace no

not that way

just put the rifle down there just fight

it together the way I think we've had

enough excitement for one day put the

rifle down you told me no one was to

follow

that's enough Zakaria know what did you

tell him what did he think he was doing

this object is closed

besides

we have four times two finally why not

not anymore

why secrete oh I see

who are you really

I'm Martin Connelly Department of Mines

minerals and child-abduction why are you

a thug like big nose for I have my

reasons but fear not I won't let the

brainless beast harm you it's a good

book maybe could be a great book tells

know what I need to know Tamara you see

the room masters were like priests or

shaman's and they often grouped their

symbols and ways that disguise their

significance now your spearhead here

once belonged to a man named keuner bold

adventurer indeed but apparently he

thought he was in Greenland when he was

actually here in Manitoba

now his code consisted of two circles of

12

yeah meats maybe nothing or maybe

coolers grave holds a lot more than

bones in a spearhead no an old sore in

Samarra

really or maybe you looked in the wrong

room there's only one room mr. big nose

back from the wilds I see but what are

you two talking about we were discussing

poetry the poetry of a good stew reading

master James it's not too well seasoned

I like mine heart

really I find that simply fascinating

hey come back here I'm Lorna Joe Davey

well don't just stand there like an

idiot after

[Music]

ah

oh never mind that here now let's get

out

sokku I swear you tripped on that

little flapjack what that smell is doing

shooting at us I wish I knew

we're lucky to be alive you know I know

that now are you all right did they hurt

you

well I'm fine I watched us pluck my fat

out of the fire Thanks

looks like one of your nightmares got

into the washes you can't fix it oh yeah

yeah yeah fix it take apart a couple of

days tinker here the best two days we

can make it to the grave and back in two

days

Jeannie if we porch over this Ridge we

wind up with the river the junk I don't

want to hear it told it was pointless

gone after him I'm not talking about

robbing the place I'm talking about

stopping Connolly there's something in

that grade that Connolly will do

anything to get his hands on you I'm

talking about stopping Connolly why'd

the grave so we can't find it we can

either come back here or flap - got the

plane right you can come back and pick

us up what do you say son to me

who says I didn't Angeline wait what do

you think you're doing lien forbid it

okay

how long are you two going this'll ask

him you never should have come in and

you never should have let her your

sister blame yourself drag me on the

stupidest schemes

is the grave horrible no just a mound of

stones you will be out of there in no

time

I have something on my conscience Jamie

something I should have told you before

I dreamt you were dead

so that's why we came looking for you

you serious

is he serious well no ghosts I got the

tick bites to prove it I dreamt I went

to the stone house and mourners were

singing a death song

they let me pass through them into the

crypt and inside there was an Eskimo

woman she was preparing the body of a

slain warrior but it wasn't cooler

it was you chain you were lying in Kunar

scrape his bare head was around your

neck all right you told me shut up about

and there was a guardian at the grave a

white wolf I think you know the one I'm

talking about don't you James

no no I know I knew you'd say that but I

had to tell you I don't think we should

go on to the stone house fine if you're

scared you can stay here

[Music]

[Music]

there it is

[Music]

we have to hide every hurry

[Music]

so what's next we cut brush to hide the

grave

aren't you just a little curious as to

what's inside Jamie we'll just go in I

knew you'd do this I knew it couldn't

trust you so agitated come on I'll just

go for a little look around you can

stand guard and I'll be out in a flash

you're a fool Jamie

you said I should return this didn't you

put a cut brush to hide the grain

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

don't you why don't you answer me

I'm sorry you're gonna be the original

owner

[Music]

yes all the treasure I could find a must

have it stronger than big nose

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

Conley said something strange but

circles are 12 Oh what 12 apostles 12

loaves 12 drummers drumming

twelve cross

[Music]

[Music]

bring a light

what is its passage

what's yours

[Music]

do we like be careful my cave-in

[Music]

[Music]

looks like his whole family was

[Music]

was it I don't know

must be worth a fortune that it's cool I

don't think we should take it

are you joking look at it Ross's watch

says you'll never believe what we found

what kind of wolf are you

[Music]

Merlin stone you know there is no

abilities you have done that mission at

that school Skinner coming apart corner

[Music]

[Applause]

Jamie Angeline Angeline I'm decent

we were just want to have a nice spot of

tea

a white Christ

I found many a fine piece in my day but

nothing the likes of this attempted to

keep with myself what it wasn't worth a

small fortune how much of a share you

gonna give Zakaria mr. Zakaria would be

richly rewarded isn't that a fact well

what are we gonna do with them what do

you think we're going to do with them

no no no we don't kill them

did I say anything about killing no

we'll just leave them in the crypt no

what a minute Sam is killing them not if

we leave them food and you telephone the

authorities with their location change

change my voice brilliant idea

don't do it saccharide he'll kill you

the moment you get him down the big

river safely the only reason he hired

you uh-huh she comes with us

[Applause]

[Music]

undulating

SS no use is my sister you don't think I

know that this is your fault well thank

[Music]

I think it's time you carried the pack

for Jake don't spoil things by thinking

it doesn't become you

I did lots of thinking what I think is

you owe me more money you calm down my

friend I'm not your friend you don't pay

me enough to be your friend no contain

you plenty you can tell me about no

cross big-nose doing all the work I

would suggest strong if you keep quiet

or what were you going to do we will

discuss your remuneration when we camp

not here

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

what are you doing

we won't get Anjali back Mike Anderson's

five minutes when we get the cross could

take me back to the grave

you're talking like Connolly now

everything's money no matter what it

really costs it belongs in a museum it's

not what clean our lives oh I see and

Kunar just called you up and told you

testify no no she won't say a word she

likes me now really I don't think we can

trust our lives to your personal charm

Zachariah is immense as it may be what's

that mean

it means that the two of us are company

and the three of them

is a crowd

[Music]

come back here I'm warning you

sorry this is all my fault

have happened but you didn't know you

did a wasis did I mean how could I trust

somebody like Carly and not my friends
